Joe Biden Claims Transgender Equality Is the ‘Civil Rights Movement of Our Time’

Former Vice President Joe Biden is trying to capitalize off of a rift between Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) supporters over a quasi-endorsement from comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan by announcing his unqualified support for “trangender equality” in a tweet.

“Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time,” Biden said on social media Saturday night. “There is no room for compromise when it comes to basic human rights.”

Biden did not elaborate on what he belives constitutes “transgender equality,” and what he considers “compromise” on the issue, nor did he mention either Sanders or Rogan by name, but the reference was clear to those progressives currently battling over whether Sanders was right to Rogan’s support on his own social media profiles.

The statement isn’t necessarily a departure for Biden who, back in April, mentioned that he would support the “Equality Act,” a Democrat-authored House bill that would amend the 1964 Civil Rights act to outlaw discrimination based on “sexual orientation and gender identity.” That bill is controversial, as it includes language designed to compel public schools to allow transgender individuals who identify as female (but who are biologically male) to compete against female athletes on female-only sports teams.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) one of the bill’s more prominent sponsors, made it clear that expanding “access” to transgender athletes is a key element of the bill, denying biological reality: “Many states have sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination laws, and all of them still have women’s sports. Arguments about transgender athletes participating in sports in accordance with their gender identity having competitive advantages have not been borne out.” (Read more from “Joe Biden Claims Transgender Equality Is the ‘Civil Rights Movement of Our Time'” HERE)

WATCH: Students Want Trump Removed From Office but Can’t Explain Why

On Friday, Campus Reform released a new video on YouTube in which Eduardo Neret asks students at American University about impeachment.

Neret first asks the students if they are following the ongoing impeachment trial. Almost universally, the students say that they are not. . .

One student is at least somewhat interested, telling Neret: “A little bit. I read The Washington Post’s five minute fix every morning.” . . .

The student who reads The Washington Post tells Neret that the impeachment is “honestly just, like, a show. It’s not actually – because everyone has read everything already.”

A male student wearing a University of Maryland hoodie says: “How many times can I read an article that has the heading, like, ‘He’s leaving office’? There’s like a thousand of them.” (Read more from “WATCH: Students Want Trump Removed From Office but Can’t Explain Why” HERE)

California Case of Coronavirus Revealed: Three Now Confirmed in U.S.; “Whistleblower” Nurse Says China Has 90,000 Sick (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. A fresh diagnosis of the deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in Southern California, bringing to three the number of cases in the U.S. as the fast-moving virus continues its spread and the global death toll spiked to 56.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified Orange County health officials late Saturday a potential case of coronavirus tested positive.

The patient has been described as a traveler from Wuhan, China — the epicenter of the disease’s outbreak — and is in isolation in a hospital in “good condition,” according to the release.

The first two U.S. cases of the virus were a Washington state man in his 30s and later an Illinois woman in her 60s who had both traveled to Wuhan, currently reported to be in stable condition at area hospitals.

The previously unknown virus has caused global concern because of its similarity to the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) pathogen, which killed hundreds across mainland China and Hong Kong in 2002-2003. “Whistleblower” Nurse Says China Has 90,000 Sick

By NY Post. The coronavirus now has a whistleblower — a nurse in Wuhan who insists in a shocking online video that close to 90,000 people in China have the disease, far more than the 1,975 reported by officials.

“I am in the area where the coronavirus started,” her video begins. Wuhan is the epicenter of the outbreak.

“I’m here to tell the truth,” the anonymous nurse says in the video, which shows her wearing a full-head face mask.

“At this moment, Hubei province, including the Wuhan area, even China, 90,000 people have been infected by a coronavirus.”

WATCH: Unhinged Democrats Call Trump a Dictator During Impeachment Proceedings

By Townhall. The Democratic Party has been trying to oust Donald Trump since day one. It’s been an unhinged pursuit that was finally captured in one sentence by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY): “He is a dictator.” Nadler said of the president. Yeah, and this is an impeachment move by Democrats that isn’t political or partisan in any way; it’s not a cause of celebration. Please—this was done to appease the base and yes, the personal agendas of House Democrats. They tried to make Russian collusion into a thing. It failed. And now we’re off on this Ukrainian phone call where Trump supposedly threatened to withhold aid unless a corruption probe was opened into Hunter Biden’s board position at Burisma. This case is shoddier than the Russian collusion allegations that have been exposed as media myths. There is no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, though for two years we were told the walls were closing in on this administration.

There is no such thing as an elected dictator. Nadler and his ilk have just shown what many of us already knew, which is that the impeachment push itself, not Trump’s actions, are what’s really corrosive to the Constitution and the institutional integrity of the country. The Democrats have no case. It’s a partisan witch-hunt, which is why the president has rightfully made things very difficult when it comes to this circus. There was no evidence for the collusion goose chase. There is nothing to the quid pro quo allegations.

‘Stunned’ Sen. Collins objected to Nadler’s impeachment accusation in note to Roberts

By Fox News. One House Democrat’s accusation amid the Trump impeachment trial “stunned” even the most moderate of Senate Republicans, reportedly prompting GOP Sen. Susan Collins to write a note to Chief Justice John Roberts about decorum on the floor of the upper chamber.

Collins, R-Maine, is the latest to signal her concerns, after impeachment manager Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., asserted earlier this week that GOP senators were engaged in a “cover-up.”

Collins told Politico she was “stunned” by Nadler’s comments, and confirmed to the outlet that she wrote a note that made its way to Roberts after a tense back and forth between Nadler and White House Chief Counsel Pat Cipollone.

“It reminded me that if we were in a normal debate in the Senate, that the rule would be invoked to strike the words of the senator for impugning another senator,” she told Politico. “So, I did write a note raising the issue of whether there’d been a violation of the rules.”

Collins said she gave the note to the secretary for the majority, Laura Dove, and “shortly thereafter, the chief justice did admonish both sides. And I was glad that he did.” (Read more from “‘Stunned’ Sen. Collins objected to Nadler’s impeachment accusation in note to Roberts” HERE)

George Soros Says Facebook Is Conspiring to Re-Elect Trump

Billionaire George Soros said that nothing is keeping Facebook Inc. from spreading disinformation and the company may be in cahoots with President Donald Trump to get him re-elected.

“I think there is a kind of informal mutual assistance operation or agreement developing between Trump and Facebook,” Soros, 89, said Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “Facebook will work together to re-elect Trump, and Trump will work to protect Facebook so that this situation cannot be changed and it makes me very concerned about the outcome for 2020.” . . .

Soros has used his annual Davos speech as a platform to criticize the social media giant in the past. In 2018, he compared Facebook to a gambling company that fosters addiction among users, and last year reiterated the need to regulate technology firms.

Facebook has come under increased scrutiny from governments worldwide on multiple fronts, but especially related to the Russian misinformation campaign that ran undetected on the social network in the months prior to the 2016 election.

The company has since worked to improve its technology for taking down what it calls “coordinated inauthentic behavior” — efforts by foreign governments to manipulate public conversation. But critics argue that Trump is helped anyway by Facebook’s very nature: the platform rewards content with the potential to go viral, and Trump has a tendency to say incendiary things. Billionaire Businessman Refuses to Reveal Full Scope of Jeffrey Epstein’s Alleged Multimillion-Dollar Theft

By ABC News. Leslie Wexner, the billionaire founder of the L Brands retail empire, who in 2019 accused disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein of misappropriating “vast sums” of his personal fortune more than a decade earlier, has so far refused to reveal the full scope of that alleged multimillion-dollar theft.

In a letter sent to his foundation in August after Epstein was arrested in New York City on sex trafficking charges, Wexner disclosed that a $46 million donation in 2008 from Epstein, who served as Wexner’s personal financial advisor for more than 15 years, to a foundation run by Wexner’s wife Abigail represented only “a portion” of the funds that he recovered from Epstein.

In response to a series of questions from ABC News, however, a spokesperson for Wexner not only declined to specify the amount of money Epstein is believed to have misappropriated but also declined to comment on whether that alleged misappropriation was ever reported to the authorities. . .

The relationship between Wexner and Epstein, who died in prison last year after being indicted on sex trafficking charges, is the subject of the latest episode of ABC News’ “Truth and Lies: Jeffrey Epstein,” an eight-part podcast focusing on Epstein and the women who survived his crimes.

Wexner, 82, built some of the most recognizable clothing brands in the world, including the lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret, and he became fabulously wealthy in the process, with Forbes listing his current net worth as about $4.5 billion. Billionaire Glenn Dubin Retiring From Hedge Fund Amid Fury Over Jeffrey Epstein Ties

By New York Post. Billionaire Glenn Dubin — caught in a firestorm over his controversial ties to dead sex predator Jeffrey Epstein — said Friday he’s retiring from his hedge fund.

The 62-year-old money manager — who, along with his wife Eva Andersson-Dubin, was reportedly a longtime friend of the late pedophile — insisted in a memo to staff that he was leaving his fund Engineers Gate in a pre-planned transition to enable his younger partner Greg Eisner to grow the fund more aggressively.

“I intend to step down as Chairman of Engineers Gate at the end of this month to focus all of my attention and energies on the businesses and philanthropic activities of my family office,” Dubin wrote to his staff.

“In a sense, after forty years, I am looking forward to transitioning from being an ‘Investment Manager’ to an ‘Investor.’” (Read more from “Billionaire Glenn Dubin Retiring From Hedge Fund Amid Fury Over Jeffrey Epstein Ties” HERE)

Goldman to Refuse IPOs If All Directors Are White, Straight Men

. . .Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer David Solomon issued the latest ultimatum Thursday from Davos. Wall Street’s biggest underwriter of initial public offerings in the U.S. will no longer take a company public in the U.S. and Europe if it lacks a director who is either female or diverse. Asia is not yet included in the firm’s new policy.

The mandate is the latest in a series of signals that non-diverse boards and management are unacceptable. BlackRock Inc. and State Street Global Advisors are voting against directors at companies without a female director. Public companies with all-male boards based in California now face a $100,000 fine under a new state law.

“It’s what big investors are looking for these days,” said Fred Foulkes, a management professor at the Boston University Questrom School of Business. “If the board has all white males, that’s a big negative.”

Goldman Sachs acknowledged that “diversity” has other meanings around the world — including in Asia, where racial dynamics are different and gender disparities are sometimes even more glaring. The company said in a statement Friday that it intends to eventually expand its board-diversity mandate beyond the U.S. and Europe.

The corporate board has become a rare bright spot for gender and racial diversity at the highest echelons of corporate America. Almost half of the open spots at S&P 500 companies went to women last year, and for the first time they made up more than a quarter of all directors. In July, the last all-male board in the S&P 500 appointed a woman. (Read more from “Goldman to Refuse IPOs If All Directors Are White, Straight Men” HERE)

The FBI Reportedly Stopped a Saudi Plot to Kidnap a Youtuber on U.S. Soil

A man thought to be acting on behalf of the Saudi government tried to kidnap a young social-media influencer on US soil, The Daily Beast reported Thursday, citing multiple sources familiar with the episode.

Abdulrahman Almutairi, 27, lives in California and has used social media to criticize the Saudi government and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist assassinated by Saudi agents in Turkey.

The Daily Beast cited unnamed sources as saying said that sometime shortly after Khashoggi’s October 2018 killing an “unidentified Saudi man accompanied Almutairi’s father on a flight to collect Almutairi against his will and bring him back to Saudi Arabia.”

Almutairi told the outlet that if he had been taken back to Saudi Arabia, he most likely would have been killed.

Khashoggi’s gruesome death and dismemberment sparked intense global backlash. He was murdered October 2, 2018, at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul after going there to obtain paperwork for his coming wedding. Deployed 82nd Airborne Unit Told to Use These Encrypted Messaging Apps on Government Cell Phones

A brigade of paratroopers deployed in early January to the Middle East in the wake of mounting tensions with Iran has been asked by its leadership to use two encrypted messaging applications on government cell phones.

The use of the encrypted messaging applications Signal and Wickr by the 82nd Airborne’s Task Force Devil underscores the complexity of security and operations for U.S. forces deployed to war zones where adversaries can exploit American communications systems, cell phones and the electromagnetic spectrum.

But it also raises questions as to whether the Department of Defense is scrambling to fill gaps in potential security vulnerabilities for American forces operating overseas by relying on encrypted messaging apps available for anyone to download in the civilian marketplace.

“All official communication on government cell phones within TF Devil has been recommended to use Signal or Wickr encrypted messaging apps,” Maj. Richard Foote, a spokesman for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, told Military Times.

“These are the two apps recommended by our leadership, as they are encrypted and free for download and use,” Foote said. (Read more from “Deployed 82nd Airborne Unit Told to Use These Encrypted Messaging Apps on Government Cell Phones” HERE)

Federal Judiciary’s Ethics Committee Suggests Judges Cannot be Members of Conservative Federalist Society but Left-Wing Extremist American Bar Association is OK

A draft opinion from a federal judicial ethics committee, which was circulated among federal judges this month and first published by the National Review, has some conservative court watchers concerned that the committee is trying to suppress the Federalist Society, a powerful right-leaning lawyers’ organization.

A longtime member and volunteer leader of the Federalist Society told Fox News that the opinion “smacks of censorship.”

The Committee on Codes of Conduct opinion clarifies that it is “broadly permissible” for federal judges to speak at Federalist Society events — and events for its left-wing counterpart the American Constitution Society — but raises concerns that judges’ membership in either organization could cause the public to lose faith in that judge’s impartiality.

“Official affiliation with either organization could convey to a reasonable person that the affiliated judge endorses the views and particular ideological perspectives advocated by the organization; call into question the affiliated judge’s impartiality on subjects as to which the organization has taken a position; and generally frustrate the public’s trust in the integrity and independence of the judiciary,” the opinion states.

That statement isn’t sitting well with some conservatives, including Judicial Crisis Network chief counsel and policy director Carrie Severino, who called the opinion part of an “ongoing political campaign to silence the Federalist Society.”
