Pompeo Says China Is Still Withholding Coronavirus Information

By Free Beacon. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sharpened on Thursday his criticism of China’s handling of a coronavirus pandemic, saying its ruling Communist Party was still denying the world information needed to prevent further cases.

The remarks, in an interview with the Washington Watch radio program, provoked a riposte from China that Pompeo should cease “politicizing” the epidemic and defaming the country.

Pompeo had repeated previous charges that Beijing’s delay in sharing information about the virus had created risks to people worldwide that had “truly put thousands of lives at risk.”

“My concern is that this cover-up, this disinformation that the Chinese Communist Party is engaged in, is still denying the world the information it needs so that we can prevent further cases or something like this from recurring again,” he added.

Pompeo also accused Iran and Russia of waging disinformation campaigns about the virus. (Read more from “Pompeo Says China Is Still Withholding Coronavirus Information” HERE)

China to Temporarily Bar Entry of Foreigners to Stop Spread of Coronavirus

By Axios. China will temporarily suspend entry for foreign nationals with visas or residence permits beginning at midnight on March 28 in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday.

Why it matters: It’s a sign that China, where the coronavirus outbreak originated, is seeking to curb the number of imported cases in order to stop its epidemic from flaring up again. Diplomatic visas will not be affected. (Read more from “China to Temporarily Bar Entry of Foreigners to Stop Spread of Coronavirus” HERE)

Former Staffer Accuses Joe Biden of Sexual Assault

When it comes to #MeToo sexual misconduct issues, former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party’s presumptive 2020 presidential nominee, has made it no secret where he stands: automatically believe women.

“For a woman to come forward in the glaring lights of focus, nationally, you’ve got to start off with the presumption that at least the essence of what she’s talking about is real,” said Biden during the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who faced accusations that as a teenager he had assaulted a woman at a party. . .

Despite his public pronunciations on the subject of never touching women without their explicit verbal consent, Biden has previously faced accusations that he was too handsy with people. But now the former vice president is facing a much more serious accusation of sexual assault, from an alleged former staffer named Tara Reade.

It remains to be seen whether the mainstream media will assign Reade’s story as much credibility and importance as that of Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Kavanaugh; they certainly have not done so yet. In any case, supporters of Biden—as well as the candidate himself—should take this opportunity to reflect on whether automatic belief is a useful or practical approach for handling decades’ old claims of misconduct.

Reade describes herself as a “California-based victim rights advocate and activist” in her interview with the journalist Katie Halper, who has helped bring this accusation to light. Reade says she worked for Biden in the early 1990s and asserts that she was unambiguously assaulted by him in 1993. According to Reade, he began kissing her without her permission, pushed her against a wall, reached under her skirt, and penetrated her with his fingers. The U.S. COVID-19 Death Rate Is Far Below the Rates in Italy and Spain

Imagine an ordinary person sees a headline like this over her morning coffee: “Your City Will Soon Be the Homicide Capital of the World.” But, upon further inspection, it turns out the homicide rate is actually very low. What is high is the attempted homicide rate. In the city in question, there has been a rash of assaults and attempted homicides. But for whatever reason, the number of people who actually die from these assaults remains extremely low. Perhaps this is because medical care is better. Perhaps it’s because the would-be murderers are poorly armed and not very motivated. But for whatever reason, the actual death rate is far lower than the headline implies. Now, this hypothetical city still clearly has a problem with assaults, and it would be wise to examine why. Attempted murders are not a thing to ignore. However, we could all agree the headline about homicides is quite misleading. . .

The casual readers who skims headlines is likely to take away from this the idea that the United States is following the same trajectory as countries like Spain and Italy when it comes to the COVID-19 outbreak. We have heard that death rates in Italy are alarming in much of Western Europe, and some have claimed the US will soon experience the same fate as Italy. While it is true the United States will soon pass up Italy in terms of total cases, the US is far, far below Italy in terms of its COVID-19 death rate, even if we account for the differences in the timeline. . .

As of March 23, in Italy, the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 total 9.4 per 100,000 people in Italy.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the total is 0.2 deaths per 100,000. Among to the top ten countries in terms of total cases, the US has the second-lowest rate per 100,00, behind only Germany, which has so far a remarkably small number of deaths.

At this point, some observers will say “but Italy has had an outbreak longer than the US, so we must measure in terms of the number of days since the pandemic began in that country.” (Read more from “The U.S. COVID-19 Death Rate Is Far Below the Rates in Italy and Spain” HERE)

U.S. Navy Fights to Contain Aircraft Carrier Coronavirus Outbreak at Sea

The U.S. Navy is fighting to contain a coronavirus outbreak at sea in the Pacific Ocean, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Navy officials have confirmed at least eight positive cases discovered aboard the ship of more than 5,000 sailors, according to the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday.

“We are taking this threat very seriously and are working quickly to identify and isolate positive cases while preventing further spread of the virus aboard the ship. No Sailors have been hospitalized or are seriously ill,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the medical team aboard the ship is performing testing for the crew.

“We are isolating those who test positive. Testing will continue as necessary to ensure the health of the entire ship’s crew. In addition, the medical staff will continue to actively monitor the health of the crew. Deep cleaning of the ship’s spaces is also ongoing,” he said. WATCH: Student Argues Against Free Speech, Gets DISMANTLED by Steven Crowder

In this clip, “Louder with Crowder” host Steven Crowder completely dismantles a TCU psychology student’s position on restricting free speech.

Asked for one example of a country that is better off as a result of limiting free speech, the student attempts to turn the tables by demanding that Crowder provide “a scholarly source” for every country that has ever been worse off as a result of restricting free speech. The absurd debate strategy did not go well for him.

“Sorry, I don’t have a scholarly source that says Nazis are bad. You’ll just have to take my word for it,” Crowder stated.

WATCH: A Half-Sedated Looking Joe Biden Devolves Into Incoherence on the View; Biden’s Claim He ‘Became a Professor’ After Leaving Senate Sparks Confusion

By Red State. . .After days of people wondering exactly where the former VP has been, Biden decided to appear before some friendly faces on The View today. He was interviewed remotely from what I’m assuming is his home, as it’s the same background he’s had for the last several videos he’s made. Apparently, all the rest he’s been getting the last few weeks has done nothing to sharpen Biden’s mental faculties, as he ended up devolving into incoherence rather quickly.

Wait, what? Yeah, I’m not going to even attempt to translate that. I have no idea what Biden is attempting to say there.

It got worse, though. Biden then started incessantly touching his face, even licking his fingers, at a time when everyone is being told to not do either of those things for the safety of everyone around them.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2020 Democrat nominee. Well, for now at least. (Read more from “A Half-Sedated Looking Joe Biden Devolves Into Incoherence on the View” HERE)

Biden’s Claim He ‘Became a Professor’ After Leaving Senate Sparks Confusion

By Fox News. Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to have made some factual errors during a virtual roundtable on Wednesday regarding this claim that he “became a professor” after leaving the Senate.

During an online campaign event, Biden took questions from young people and while discussing the student debt crisis, Biden spoke about all the time he had spent on “campus.”

“When I left the United States Senate, I became a professor at the University of Pennsylvania,” Biden said. “And I’ve spent a lot of time — and the University of Delaware has the Biden School as well, so I’ve spent a lot of time on campus with college students.”

Biden, quite notably, became vice president of the United States under President Obama when he left the Senate in 2009. It was, however, in 2017 when he received the title of “Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor” from the University of Pennsylvania.

Coronavirus: White House Health Advisor Fauci Says U.S. Needs to Be Prepared for Second Cycle

Americans need to prepare for a second cycle of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States, a White House health advisor said Wednesday.

“Would this possibly become a seasonal cyclic thing? I’ve always indicated to you that I think it very well might,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director, said a White House press briefing.

U.S. health officials and infectious disease experts are learning about how the new coronavirus behaves by watching outbreaks in other countries such as Southern Africa that are starting to enter their colder seasons, Fauci told reporters.

“What we’re starting to see in the Southern Hemisphere of Southern Africa and the Southern Hemisphere countries, is that we’re having cases that are appearing as they go into their winter season,” he said. “If they have a substantial outbreak, it will be inevitable that we need to be prepared that we’ll get a cycle a second time.” . . .

“Other viral respiratory diseases are seasonal, including influenza and therefore in many viral respiratory diseases we do see a decrease in disease in spring and summer,” Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said on a Feb. 25 conference call. “And so we can certainly be optimistic that this disease will follow suit.” (Read more from “Coronavirus: White House Health Advisor Fauci Says U.S. Needs to Be Prepared for Second Cycle” HERE)

‘Can’t Even Give It Away’: Gasoline at $1 Is Warning for Economy

London, Kentucky, became the first U.S. city to see pump prices fall below $1 a gallon as coronavirus-related lockdowns halt transit across the country — and it won’t be the last.

Several others are poised to join the club in the coming days as the pandemic crushes fuel demand and sends the economy to the brink of a recession. While cheap fuel usually spurs gas-guzzling Americans to hit the highways, the latest downturn in prices portends dark times ahead.

“You almost can’t even give it away,” said Paul Bingham, head transportation economist at IHS Markit Ltd. “The price elasticity has totally changed. It’s full-on demand destruction.”

Nationwide, pump prices are headed for depths not seen since the Great Recession. Retail gasoline is expected to average $1.99 a gallon in the next two days and fall as low as $1.49 by mid-April, the lowest level in 16 years, according to Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at Gasbuddy.

The downturn comes as large swathes of the country are under containment orders in an effort to curb the virus that’s killed more than 15,000 people globally. U.S. unemployment could rise 30% this quarter while the GDP may drop by 50%. In that environment, low gasoline prices won’t induce consumption in the way it typically does, and may instead be yet another indicator of a struggling economy. MSNBC’S Joe Scarborough Ripped for Falsely Claiming ‘No Doctors’ Were at White House Presser, Urges Networks to Cut Away

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was slammed on social media for falsely claiming that “no doctors” were present at Monday’s White House press briefing on the coronavirus outbreak.

Scarborough was among many media personalities on Twitter who quickly noticed that Dr. Anthony Fauci, a prominent figure in the White House’s coronavirus task force, was missing from the briefing. The liberal TV personality quickly concluded that the briefing wasn’t necessary.

“There is no public benefit to this briefing. The networks should all cut away,” Scarborough tweeted. “Bland pronouncements, the repeating of catch phrases daily, bad medical advice. No science, no doctors, no Fauci. Just Trump’s Roy Cohn.” . . .

“Dr Birx is right next to him,” National Republican Senatorial Committee senior adviser Matt Whitlock told Scarborough.

“Are you dumb or just a liar?” The Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra reacted. “Dr. Deborah Birx spoke and the press conference is not over.”

Anarchy Mixed With Tyranny: Jailbreaker Criminal Terrorizes Woman in Her Home

Who could have predicted this?

Utah, like nearly every state with Democrat or liberal Republican leadership, has released some criminals from prison, supposedly under the guise of avoiding spread of the virus in prison. What they are really doing is spreading the disease of crime into our communities.

Joshua Haskell, 42, of American Fork, Utah is someone deemed by the liberal politicians as a “nonviolent, low-level” offender. He was released on March 17 from a halfway house, pursuant to an incomprehensible order to release low-level offenders into the community during the coronavirus epidemic. Just two days later, he was arrested in the home of a woman after he allegedly attacked the homeowner with a knife in her bed.

According to the charging documents, as reported by the Deseret News, the woman awoke to find Haskell standing over her bed. When she screamed, he threatened to cut her with a knife and proceeded to tie her up in bed. He demanded her bank cards and PIN numbers and threatened to come back and kill her if she gave him the wrong information. According to the affidavit, police showed up after her son called 911 with Haskell still in her bedroom. He allegedly crawled into bed with her and told her to tell police he was her lover. She finally managed to make a quick escape downstairs to the officers.

Haskell was charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and aggravated kidnapping, among other crimes.

Like all “low-level” offenders, Haskell had a lengthy criminal history, including four drug convictions and parole violations. Police say he had drugs on him at the time of this offense. This is the big lie I’ve long exposed regarding the nature of drug offenders. Yes, there are some drug offenders who might not commit other crimes, but those are usually the ones sent to drug diversion court. If you are serving time for drug offenses nowadays, it means you are a career criminal. With Haskell, the proof is in the pudding. By definition, if someone is in prison or a halfway house, this is not his first time in the system.

Yet these are the sorts of criminals who are being released throughout the country at a time like this! Authorities are not checking their prior criminal records and parole violations. How many more of these people will commit crimes that we will never hear about in the national media, or often even in local media?

Now, many states are closing gun stores, so single women who live at home during this time of great peril and criminal release cannot purchase guns. L.A. police, after being forced to release criminals onto the streets, are now going store to store and shutting down gun dealers.

And they want us to know they mean business. “The time for warning is over,” threatened New Jersey’s Attorney General Gurbir Grewal. “There will be serious legal consequences.”

When have we ever heard these people talk that way about real criminals? In fact, they have been letting them go.

This is rapidly devolving into the worst mix of fascism on the one hand and anarchism on the other hand. Law-abiding citizens are being shut down, but criminals are being released. Don’t tell me that this perverse amalgamation of policy outcomes is somehow all about public safety.

Americans must rise up and demand no new rules against peaceful Americans until the criminals are put back in jail and we are given the right to defend ourselves. (For more from the author of “Anarchy Mixed With Tyranny: Jailbreaker Criminal Terrorizes Woman in Her Home” please click HERE)
