Hong Kong Anti-Government Protesters Are Rooting for ‘Tough Trump’ to Defeat ‘Soft Biden’

. . . [Joe] Biden is not the favorite among Hong Kong protesters and some prominent opposition figures who prefer US President Donald Trump to win a second term, believing he will be tougher on China.

Compared with past US presidential elections, this year’s contest appears to have captured the most attention in Hong Kong political circles, not least because Trump has openly taken the side of protesters and acted to punish Beijing over its response to last year’s social unrest. . .

Hong Kong activists’ support for Trump goes back to last year’s anti-government rallies, when black-clad protesters waved US flags and banners that read: “President Trump, please liberate Hong Kong.” At several demonstrations, they called on Washington to stand up to Beijing. . .

Trump’s tough stance stirred prominent pro-democracy figures in Hong Kong, with media mogul Jimmy Lai Chee-ying making a direct plea to him in a CNN interview in May, saying: “Mr President, you’re the only one who can save us.” (Read more from “Hong Kong Anti-Government Protesters Are Rooting for ‘Tough Trump’ to Defeat ‘Soft Biden'” HERE)

Biden’s Ridiculous Plan Would Tax Wealthy Estates as Much as 67%

Joe Biden would tax the estates of wealthy individuals at a rate as high as 67%, according to an analysis by the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan think tank that examines the tax code.

That high rate is a combination of Biden’s plans for raising the capital gains and estate taxes for people who earned over $1 million annually before death.

Under Biden’s plan, unrealized capital gains would be taxed at 43.3% at death. That rate includes taxing those gains at ordinary income tax rates, which would be raised to 39.6% under the former vice president’s plan. It also includes a net investment income tax of 3.8%.

Biden would also lower the exemption for the estate tax to $3.5 million and raise the rate to 45%. Today, the exemption is set at over $11 million for individuals, and the rate is 40%. (Read more from “Biden’s Ridiculous Plan Would Tax Wealthy Estates as Much as 67%” HERE)

SEAL Team Six Rescues American Hostage

A hostage from the United States was rescued early on Saturday in Nigeria by SEAL Team Six.

While the Pentagon has confirmed the rescue operation, they have not confirmed the name of the hostage. ABC News and Fox News have reported that the rescued man was Philip Wanton, who, according to multiple news outlets, was abducted from his farm in neighboring Niger several days ago. . .

“U.S. forces conducted a hostage rescue operation during the early hours of 31 October in Northern Nigeria to recover an American citizen held hostage by a group of armed men,” Pentagon chief spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement. “This American citizen is safe and is now in the care of the U.S. Department of State. No U.S. military personnel were injured during the operation.” (Read more from “SEAL Team Six Rescues American Hostage” HERE)

Obama, Biden Lob Personal Attacks at Trump, President Fires Back on Twitter

. . .Former Vice President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama made their first joint 2020 campaign stop on Saturday afternoon in Flint before heading to Detroit. They hit Trump hard on his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and said it’s time to restore decency to the White House. . .

Obama took to the stage first Saturday night to throw his backing behind Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. “The presidency doesn’t actually change who you are, it just reveals who you are,” Obama said.

“Look, I knew Donald Trump wasn’t going to agree with me. But I did think he was going to take it seriously.” . . .

Trump, campaigning in Pennsylvania on Saturday, hit back on Biden and Obama by trying to link them to the Flint water crisis and accepting the endorsement of former GOP Gov. Rick Snyder who was in office when lead from aging pipes leached into Flint’s water supply. State and local officials in Michigan were charged with crimes related to the contaminated water, though charges against eight of those people have since been dismissed.

Top Battleground State Official Predicts It Could Take ‘Days’ To Count Votes

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar told NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that 10 times as many people have already voted by mail during the 2020 election compared to 2016. In some counties, those ballots will not begin to be counted until Wednesday morning.

“So yes, it will take longer,” Boockvar said. She noted that final vote tallies are never in hand on Election Day because military ballots are not submitted until up to a week later, but she recognized that the regular absentee and in-person ballots will take longer than usual.

“I expect the overwhelming majority of ballots in Pennsylvania, that’s mail-in absentee ballots, as well as in-person ballots, will be counted within a matter of days,” she said, adding that counties plan to have people counting “24/7 until it’s done.”

While the vote counts may be known in a few days time, that does not necessarily mean the same for the election result. Boockvar confirmed that ballots received in the three days after Election Day will be counted but then segregated and set aside, as litigation continues over the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court’s decision to allow ballots to be received during those three days if they are postmarked by Election Day. That ruling also allowed ballots to be counted if they do not have a clear Election Day postmark as long as there is no evidence that they were sent later. Election Interference: Facebook Manually Censored Biden Corruption Bombshell

A report published this week alleges that Facebook manually censored the New York Post bombshell story about Biden family corruption. According to the Guardian, Facebook moderators manually overrode the platform’s automatic processes to censor the Post, an effort that successfully censored about half of the engagement the article would have received, according to researchers.

According to a report by the Guardian, internal documents from Facebook suggest that the platform intentionally restricted the distribution of a New York Post report that allegedly revealed ties between Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and a Ukrainian energy company. The suppression was not automatic or based on Facebook’s AI and algorithmic approach to content, but rather done by hand by Facebook moderators.

This does not come as a surprise as some Facebook executives announced their decision to restrict the distribution of the report. In a tweet, Facebook’s Policy Communications Director Andy Stone said that the story would be restricted in some form on the platform.

“While I will intentionally not link to the New York Post, I want be clear that this story is eligible to be fact checked by Facebook’s third-party fact checking partners. In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform,” Stone wrote in a tweet on October 14.
