State Department’s Virtual Iran Embassy Uses Kamala Harris Quote to Slam US

The Biden administration’s Virtual Embassy for Iran used a quote by Vice President Kamala Harris translated into Farsi to castigate the US this week for xenophobia, anti-Semitism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination.

“The truth is: there is racial discrimination in America,” read the translated social media post from Wednesday. “There is xenophobia in America. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, all exist. Tackling injustice wherever it is, activity is ahead.”

The State Department posted an English-language version of the tweet on Jan. 17 to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

“.@VP on injustice,” the post began before quoting Harris. “‘Here’s the truth: Racism exists in America. Xenophobia exists in America. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, it all exists. The work to address injustice wherever it exists remains the work ahead.’”

Ukraine: We’re Not Worried About Invasion, Russia Has Been Invading for 8 Years

Ukrainian state media outlet Ukrinform ran an editorial on Wednesday arguing that Ukrainians are unfazed by the war hysteria gripping many Western politicians and media outlets because Russian forces have been in their country for eight years.

Ukrinform billed the lengthy article as “an editorial, aiming to convey to the Western audiences, including journalists, what’s on the mind of the Ukrainian people these days, why they have no fear, and what is the main motivation driving the nation.”

The gist of the editorial was that life continues as normal for Ukrainians, who are certainly aware of the Russian threat but not obsessed with it. Unlike some outside observers, the Ukrainians are not responding with great alarm to each tidbit of news about Russian activity on the far side of their border.

“The country’s capital Kyiv, along with other major cities, remains vibrant and lives a normal life with children going to school, businesses and offices remaining open to clients, no one taping their windows in anticipation of bombing or digging trenches in the suburbs to ‘meet’ Russian tanks,” Ukrinform wrote. US: Early Stages of Russia’s Ukraine Invasion ‘Unfolding’ Now

​Secretary of State Antony Blinken ​warned members of the United Nations Security Council Thursday that the early stages of a Russian invasion of Ukraine were “unfolding” after Moscow bolstered its forces along the border between the two nations in recent days.

Blinken, who swung by Turtle Bay on his way to Germany for this weekend’s Munich Security Conference, described the crisis as “the most immediate threat to peace and security” and called on the global body to “address” the situation.

“The stakes go far beyond Ukraine,” the secretary of state said in remarks lasting roughly 10 minutes. “This is a moment of peril for the lives and safety of millions of people as well as for the foundation of the United Nations charter and the rules-based international order that preserves stability worldwide.”

Blinken pointed to new intelligence showing that Russia is sending more ground troops, aircraft and ships to the region as it prepares to “launch an attack.”

Trudeau Totalitarian: Banks Begin Freezing Accounts of Freedom Convoy Protesters

Canadian banks will receive the names of people involved in “Freedom Convoy” protests that have descended on the nation’s capital, a first step in a promised financial crackdown on demonstrators being instituted by the far-left government of Justin Trudeau.

Bloomberg reports the Canadian Bankers Association confirmed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has alerted banks to a list of names and made it available.

The institutions are reportedly still seeking clarity from law enforcement on how to handle the alleged protesters’ accounts, according to people familiar with the matter. But Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said some accounts have already been frozen, the news outlet reported.

Under the Emergencies Act invoked by this week by Trudeau, law enforcement officials have the ability to arrest people for obstruction of roadways and disruptive behaviour within a no-go exclusion zone. They also have the power to seize vehicles and freeze the same bank accounts.

Video Allegedly Shows Airline Removing Passenger Over ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Mask

An Allegiant Air passenger was recently removed from a flight for wearing a mask with the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” displayed on it, according to a viral video posted on social media. . .

In the video, posted by the popular Twitter account “Libs of TikTok,” the passenger, an unidentified middle-aged man, can be seen arguing with a flight attendant while onboard a plane.

The attendant starts by asking the man to remove his mask over “the comment that you have written on there.”

In response, the man says he has a right to express his beliefs, but the attendant replies, “I’m going to ask you to put a different mask on or I’m going to ask you to leave.”

Biden Admin to Cancel $415 Million in Student Loan Debt for Roughly 16,000 People

The Biden administration announced Wednesday it will cancel $415 million in student debt for nearly 16,000 borrowers who claim they were misled by for-profit colleges.

The loans for almost 16,000 former students will be canceled under a legal provision called the borrower defense to repayment, which allows students to have their debts erased if they prove a for-profit school defrauded them, the Department of Education (DOE) said in a press release.

The DOE found that DeVry University, Westwood College, ITT Technical Institute nursing school and Minnesota School of Business/Globe University provided false information regarding their graduates’ job placement.

Navy Grants First Religious Vaccine Exemption; 640 Marines Discharged Over Vaccine Refusal

The Navy has become the third U.S. military service branch to grant a religious exemption for the coronavirus vaccine, though the approval rate for such requests remains a fraction of 1%.

One sailor in the Individual Ready Reserve had a religious exemption conditionally approved, though this person will need to get fully vaccinated if they’re called up to active-duty or reserve status, according to a Navy release. Additionally, the Marines have now granted six religious exemptions after having received 3,595 requests, which marks a 0.16% approval rate, according to a Thursday press release, though the number of approvals was three in the branch’s last update.

Those seven service members, combined with nine airmen, make up everyone in the military who has been approved for a religious exemption so far, even though there have been more than 16,800 requests.

Each of the three branches has also begun discharging those who have refused the vaccine. 247 active-duty sailors and one reserve, 640 Marines, and 160 airmen have been discharged for not getting the vaccine, while the Army, which has not granted any religious exemptions, has said it will start separations “immediately” but has yet to release data indicating they’ve begun. Judge Orders Trump, Children to Answer Questions in NY Civil Case

A Manhattan judge rejected an effort by former President Donald Trump and two of his children to quash subpoenas in New York Attorney General Letitia James’s civil investigation into the Trump Organization.

Judge Arthur Engoron of the Manhattan Supreme Court ordered Trump on Thursday to share documents within 14 days and appear for a deposition in 21 days. Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump were also ordered to appear for depositions within 21 days.

“Today, justice prevailed,” James said in a statement. “Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump have been ordered by the court to comply with our lawful investigation into Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings.” . . .

Lawyers for the Trumps had sought to block the subpoenas, arguing James is politically motivated and attempting to “circumvent the entire grand jury process” to assist a separate criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Cop Allegedly Groped by Disgraced Ex-Governor Cuomo Sues Him and Longtime Aide

The New York State trooper who claims disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo groped her sued him and his longtime aide, Melissa DeRosa, Thursday — saying the governor “violated” her and his right-hand woman helped cover it up.

The woman named in the suit as “Trooper 1” is seeking damages from the duo and a declaratory judgment that they both “violated federal, state, and civil laws.”

The woman claims DeRosa was active in protecting Cuomo, who has consistently denied all claims of illegal activity.

On September 23, 2019, Trooper 1, who was serving as one of Cuomo’s bodyguards at the time, accompanied him to an event at Belmont racetrack, where “she felt violated as the Governor intentionally touched her in intimate locations between her breasts and vagina,” according to the complaint.

“As Trooper 1 went ahead of the Governor to hold a door open for him, the Governor placed the palm of his hand on her belly button and slid it across her waist to her right hip, where her gun was holstered,” her lawyers allege. Trans Swimmers Post Fastest Times at Ivy League Championships

Two transgender swimmers blew away the competition Wednesday at the Ivy League Women’s Swimming Championships by posting the fastest times in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

The two swimmers, Lia Thomas and Iszac Henig swam the fastest split times on Wednesday night, adding more controversy to the topic of transgender athletes.

Lia Thomas has been the focus of controversy for the entire University of Pennsylvania swimming season for being biologically male but competing as a woman and posting times that have shattered women’s swimming records. And on Wednesday, Thomas added to that controversial record by posting the fastest time of the meet with a 1:44:50 in the first leg of the race, according to the Daily Mail.

The second transgender swimmer to top the meet was Iszac Henig, a Yale women’s swim team member who was born female but identifies as a male even while still competing on the Yale women’s team. Henig posted the next fastest time at 1:44:65. . .

Still, the controversy has only deepened, with Thomas once again eclipsing all comers and beating Henig. In January, Thomas faced Henig during the regular season and lost in a head-to-head race. But one of Thomas’ teammates alleged that Thomas threw the race to Henig as a ruse to throw off the year-long complaints against the unfairness to natural-born women that Thomas represented.
