Capitol Police Claim Jan. 6 Emails and Videos Are Not Public Records; Assert ‘Sovereign Immunity’ to Lawsuit

Judicial Watch has challenged an attempt by the U.S. Capitol Police to block the conservative watchdog group’s lawsuit to obtain videos and emails from the Jan. 6 riot.

The organization is seeking records related to the security of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, communications between USCP and federal law enforcement, and all video footage from inside the Capitol between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m., when the riot took place.

The watchdog group has asked for emails between the USCP executive team and the Capitol Police Board, as well as emails between USCP and the FBI, Department of Justice, and Department of Homeland Security.

Congress, through its police department, has asserted that the requested videos and emails are not public records and that there is no public interest in their release. The police department is also claiming “sovereign immunity,” which prevents citizens from suing for the release of the documents, Judicial Watch said in a press statement.

Noting that Congress is exempted from the Freedom of Information Act, Judicial Watch said it filed its lawsuit under the common law right of access to public records after the Capitol Police refused to respond to a records request on Jan. 21, 2021. Constitutional Convention Showdown Sparks Ardent Debate on Both Sides

Alaskans, deeply concerned about the political and cultural state of The Last Frontier, packed the Valley Performing Arts Center in Wasilla on Feb. 1 for a rousing debate on the merits, dangers and challenges of calling a statewide Constitutional Convention.

Longtime political mover, Alaskan Independence Party Chairman Bob Bird, argued that it was time for Alaskans to take the bull by the horns and fix our constitution directly. He laid out a litany of issues that the Legislature has proven to be unable or unwilling to address. This includes removing the iron-clad grip that the seven-member, left-leaning Alaska Judicial Council has in deciding who gets to serve as a judge in Alaska. Bird also spoke of the need for Alaska to reassert its right to grow and develop oil, gas and timber industries without federal roadblocks. Additionally, he argued that a convention would give Alaskans a chance to protect the PFD, enact election reform and institute pro-life laws without having to deal with an Alaska Supreme Court that has reliably ruled against all efforts to protect the unborn.

Former Senate Majority Leader John Coghill, a 22-year member of the Alaska Legislature, took the opposing side, agreeing with Bird on many points, but arguing that 2022 was not the time to “lay the constitution bare.” He repeatedly warned that special interest groups and deep-pocketed outside activists would certainly descend on Alaska with unprecedented force. Environmentalists and socialists, he said, would pour untold millions into manipulating the delegate selection process and final vote, thereby making Alaska far worse off than it is now.

With Alaskans just 10 months away from voting on whether to hold its first Constitutional Convention since statehood, Coghill maintained that conservatives needed more time to organize and create a groundswell of support for this effort. He said this would take years, rather than months. Additionally, he painted a bleak picture of the cultural decay that has infected the state – a situation in which many are unplugged from politics and increasingly embracing ideologies that run fundamentally opposed to conservative Judeo-Christian values. Going into a constitutional convention without a large and motivated army of principled conservatives was a recipe for disaster, he cautioned.

Bird noted that there are always risks in such monumental undertakings, but maintained that the time is ripe to wage this particular battle. Every 10 years Alaskans are asked whether to call a statewide convention, and the question is usually met with tepid interest. This year, given widespread doubt about election integrity, mounting frustration with activist judges, and the inability of the Legislature to protect the PFD, Alaskans are awake and ready for what he called a “Con-Con” fight.

While unpersuaded as to whether Alaskans were up for the task, Coghill said he would “armor up” and join Bob Bird and other conservatives if they ultimately win the day and successfully call a convention. It would be imperative to select the right delegates for the convention and to somehow break through the massive media blitz that leftists would bring to the battle, he said. He suggested that the process of educating and mobilizing conservatives would certainly benefit by “putting Bob on the circuit.”

A total of 162 people attended the debate. Following the contest, the audience was asked to cast a ballot indicating whether they favored or opposed calling a constitutional convention. With 65% of attendees voting the result was 61 (yes), 42 (no), and 3 (undecided). Facebook Suffers Biggest One-Day Value Drop of Any US Company in History

Facebook parent company Meta shed more than $220 billion in market capitalization on Thursday, the largest such single-day decline for a U.S. company in history.

Meta’s stock closed down more than 26% on Thursday, an 85-point decline. The drop was largely driven by a quarterly earnings report that found the company was hemorrhaging daily users for the first time in its history. CEO Mark Zuckerberg personally lost about $24 billion.

Meta’s crash drove declines across the stock market, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite dropping by 3.74%.

The much-anticipated report said that daily Facebook users declined by about a half-million in the last three months of 2021, which many investors saw as a sign that the global reach of the social media company might be peaking or has already peaked. Who’s Next? CNN Insiders Want Stelter Fired Over Zucker-Gollust Coverup

The calls to fire CNN Misinformation Maven Brian Stelter are coming from inside the house.

“The network needs to step up and fire Brian Stelter,” a CNN insider told the Daily Mail. “He is allegedly our top media reporter – yet he failed to report on the scoop that everyone in the office knew. And if he wants to say he didn’t know, he is truly terrible at his job.”

A cable news veteran, who wishes not to be named, spoke of the close relationship between Stelter and Zucker.

‘Brian Stelter should be calling his agent to start looking for another job,’ they said. ‘He’s been Jeff Zucker’s water boy for years and no one believes he didn’t know about all of this.’

[…]

‘He’s been sitting on his moral high horse doing Jeff’s bidding and ripping Fox and every other media outlet that Jeff tells him to while his ratings crash and burn. Where was he on the biggest story at his own network after chastising everyone else?’

Trump Celebrates ‘World-Class Sleazebag’ CNN President’s Resignation; Who Is the CNN Executive in a Secret Relationship With Jeff Zucker?

By New York Post. Former President Donald Trump celebrated CNN CEO Jeff Zucker’s resignation Wednesday and called the newly unemployed cable honcho a “world-class sleazebag.”

“Jeff Zucker, a world-class sleazebag who has headed ratings and real-news-challenged CNN for far too long, has been terminated for numerous reasons, but predominantly because CNN has lost its way with viewers and everybody else,” Trump said in an emailed statement.

“Now is a chance to put Fake News in the backseat because there may not be anything more important than straightening out the horrendous LameStream Media in our Country, and in the case of CNN, throughout the World. Jeff Zucker is gone — congratulations to all!” . . .

Zucker frequently sparred with Trump during his presidency, which helped the behind-the-scenes executive become a household name — but once upon a time, the two had a cozier relationship.

As president of NBC Entertainment, Zucker was the executive who green-lit Trump’s reality TV show “The Apprentice.” (Read more from “Trump Celebrates ‘World-Class Sleazebag’ CNN President’s Resignation” HERE)

Who Is the CNN Executive in a Secret Relationship With Jeff Zucker?

By New York Post. The CNN executive who’s allegedly been in a secret relationship with Jeff Zucker for years is a longtime public relations specialist who’s spent her career working in television. . .

Gollust, 49, claimed she and Zucker had long been friends but their relationship changed amid the pandemic — a claim CNN insiders blasted as a “bold faced lie.” . . .

Gollust got her start as a news anchor, reporter and producer in Denver before moving to the Big Apple and hitting it big with NBC News, according to her bio on CNN.

She started at the network’s corporate communications office in 1996 and the following year, was named senior publicist for “Today.”

At the time, Zucker was the executive producer of the ratings juggernaut and the two worked hand-in-hand to bring attention to the show, Katie Couric wrote in her blistering tell-all “Going There.” (Read more from “Who Is the CNN Executive in a Secret Relationship With Jeff Zucker?” HERE)

Army Begins Discharging Unvaccinated Soldiers

The U.S. Army announced Wednesday it will start discharging soldiers who remain unvaccinated.

Those who do not have an approved exemption or who refuse to be vaccinated will be separated from the service immediately, the Army said, noting that these soldiers “will not be eligible for involuntary separation pay.”

According to figures released at the end of January, 96 percent of active soldiers have been fully vaccinated. Of the 709 medical exemption requests received, six were approved and 656 were rejected. Among the 2,910 religious exemptions submitted, none were approved and 266 were rejected. The Army has issued 5,870 temporary exemptions. More than 3,300 soldiers refused the vaccine.

‘I’m Going to Get In Trouble’ — Biden Caught Again Without Mask at White House

President Joe Biden was caught again at the White House without his mask on Wednesday after his speech on promoting cancer research.

Biden turned away from the podium and walked briefly over to the crowd of masked individuals who attended his remarks and began shaking hands.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) approached Biden quickly and, after shaking his hand, she whispered in his ear, presumably about his missing mask.

Biden grimaced and reached in his folder to retrieve his mask, putting it back on.

“I’m going to get in trouble,” he said. (Read more from “‘I’m Going to Get In Trouble’ — Biden Caught Again Without Mask at White House” HERE)

U.S. Accused of Hyping Russia Invasion of Ukraine, Frustrating Kyiv, Moscow

Several current and former U.S., Russian and Ukrainian officials have expressed their concerns to Newsweek that U.S. intelligence of an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine is being exaggerated, perhaps in a bid to deter further aggression from Moscow and avoid a devastating war. . .

But while Putin plays his game, some believe the U.S. and its Western allies are playing their own.

Former senior Ukrainian officials who are still in contact with the current administration and intelligence services told Newsweek that some in Ukraine — including within Zelenskyy’s inner circle — suspect their U.S. partners are exaggerating the Russia threat. . .

Klimkin, a co-founder of the Center for National Resilience and Development (CNRD) think tank in Ukraine, pointed out that past U.S. intelligence failures have left some in Kyiv skeptical. (Read more from “U.S. Accused of Hyping Russia Invasion of Ukraine, Frustrating Kyiv, Moscow” HERE)
