Scientists Are Reincarnating the Woolly Mammoth to Return – Here’s the Timeline

The long-dead woolly mammoth will make its return from extinction by 2027, says Colossal, the biotech company actively working to reincarnate the ancient beast.

Last year, the Dallas-based firm scored an additional $60 million in funding to continue the, well, mammoth gene-editing work it started in 2021. If successful, not only will Colossal bring back an extinct species—one the company dubs a cold-resistant elephant—but it will also reintroduce the woolly mammoth to the same ecosystem in which it once lived in an effort to fight climate change, according to a recent Medium post.

Colossal calls the woolly mammoth’s vast migration patterns an active part of preserving the health of the Arctic, and so bringing the animal back to life can have a beneficial impact on the health of the world’s ecosystem. While Colossal originally hoped to reintroduce the woolly mammoth into Siberia, the company may explore other options based on the current political framework of the world. Bill Gates — After Reaping Huge Profits Selling Biontech Shares — Trashes Effectiveness of COVID Vaccines

Bill Gates, long recognized as one of the world’s foremost proponents of vaccines, raised some eyebrows at a recent talk in Australia when he admitted there are “problems” with current COVID-19 vaccines.

Speaking at Australia’s Lowy Institute as part of a talk entitled “Preparing for Global Challenges: In Conversation with Bill Gates,” the Microsoft founder made the following admission:

“We also need to fix the three problems of [COVID-19] vaccines. The current vaccines are not infection-blocking. They’re not broad, so when new variants come up you lose protection, and they have very short duration, particularly in the people who matter, which are old people.”

Such statements came as a surprise to some in light of Gates’ longstanding support of — and investments in — vaccine manufacturers and organizations promoting global vaccination. However, they were the latest in a string of developments in recent weeks that have increasingly called the COVID-19 vaccines, in particular, into question.

Several analysts and commentators were critical of Gates — but not due to disagreement with the statements he made in Australia. Instead, they argued that he had previously heavily invested in mRNA vaccines at the same time he encouraged a global COVID-19 vaccination campaign and supported mandatory vaccination. George Santos Steps Back From House Committee Assignments

On Tuesday, New York Rep. George Santos (R) told House Republicans that he would recuse himself from his committee positions as he faces investigations and calls to resign after fabricating parts of his life and work experience.

According to The New York Times, Santos spoke with Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Monday evening about his decision. McCarthy reportedly said it was an “appropriate decision” until Santos “could clear everything up.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told the Times that Santos’ decision is not permanent and that he may return once his issues are resolved.

Previously, Townhall covered that Santos got assignments on the Science Committee and the Small Business Committee. Reportedly, he was hoping for the House Committee on Financial Services or the House Foreign Affairs Committee. At the time, it was up in the air if Santos would get committee assignments at all.

To recap, after Santos won his congressional seat in the 2022 midterms, The New York Times published an article exposing major discrepancies in Santos’ resume. This included where he attended college, as well as his previous jobs. (Read more from “George Santos Steps Back From House Committee Assignments” HERE)

Hunter Biden Email Promising Russian Oligarch Info Raises Fresh Concern About Joe’s Access

By New York Post. A Hunter Biden email sent to an American aluminum company and promising information on Russian oligarchs is raising fresh concerns about the first son’s access to classified documents recently discovered in his father’s Wilmington, Del., home as lawmakers prepare to investigate allegations of influence peddling.

Documents dating back to 2011 on his notorious “laptop from hell” showed Hunter offered to sell intelligence on Russian oligarchs to the US aluminum firm Alcoa Inc. for $55,000, according to The Post’s exclusive October 2021 report.

As his father served as former President Barack Obama’s second-in-command, Hunter Biden offered to provide a “statistical analysis of political and corporate risks, elite networks associated with Oleg Deripaska, the Russian CEO of Basic Element company and United company RUSAL,” which had just signed a metal supply agreement with Alcoa.

Hunter Biden also offered the company a “list of elites of similar rank in Russia, map of [Deripaska’s] networks based on frequency of interaction with selected elites and countries.”

The deeply detailed proposal has come under sharp scrutiny given recent revelations that Hunter Biden had access to the Delaware lake-front home where secret papers from his father’s time as vice president were discovered in a garage, basement and library — combined with Republicans taking control of the House of Representatives. Hunter Biden’s Email to Burisma Business Partner Infers ‘Direct Access’ to Classified Information: Cruz

By Fox News. Sen. Ted Cruz sounded off on an email Hunter Biden sent to a Burisma colleague, alleging the correspondence indicates he had access to classified material as new information is revealed regarding the magnitude of Biden’s latest scandal.

Cruz joined “Sunday Morning Futures” to discuss why the email was “unusual” and how it infers that he had “direct access” to the information that could be tied to Biden’s alleged mishandling of thousands of records.

“Hunter Biden didn’t write that,” Cruz told Maria Bartiromo. “Hunter Biden is not an expert on Ukraine. He’s not an expert on Eastern Europe. He’s not an expert on Russia, but that email did help get him on the board of Burisma. It did help get him paid $83,000 a month because it showed a level of expertise not coming from him, but he was getting it from somewhere. That’s clearly from some sort of briefing. We don’t know whether it was a classified briefing or not, but that is the sort of analysis that is often within a classified briefing.”

“And this email is unusual in the Hunter Biden emails, there’s a level of scholarship and erudition that if it magically appeared, somehow it doesn’t appear in the other emails he’s sending,” he continued. “The obvious question is what was he cutting and pasting from? What was his source? And it raises the natural inference that Hunter Biden had direct access to these classified documents.”

The email in question was from 2014 – Hunter Biden sent the correspondence to Devon Archer, who was also on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company. (Read more from “Hunter Biden’s Email to Burisma Business Partner Infers ‘Direct Access’ to Classified Information: Cruz” HERE)

By Townhall. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) is reportedly planning a long-awaited 2024 presidential announcement, as his staff prepares for the potential White House bid.

The Washington Post reported that two Republicans with knowledge of DeSantis’s 2024 plans, said that DeSantis is “laying a foundation for a national campaign” amid meetings and preliminary staffing moves.

The WaPo said that the possible future DeSantis 2024 campaign has “already identified multiple potential hires in early primary states such as New Hampshire and Iowa.”

The Republican also told the outlets that Phil Cox and Generra Peck, two key members of DeSantis’s 2022 re-election team, are involved in talks about 2024.

Cox was the former executive director of the Republican Governors Association, while Crist was the campaign manager for DeSantis’s midterm victory over Democrat Charlie Crist. (Read more from “DeSantis Advisors Are Reportedly Preparing for His 2024 Presidential Announcement” HERE)

Trump Hits DeSantis: He’s a COVID Skeptic Phony

By Politico. . .[Trump] is on a collision course with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to jump into the race.

On Saturday, Trump took his sharpest swings at DeSantis to date, accusing the governor of “trying to rewrite history” over his response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Trump said DeSantis, who has been openly skeptical about government efforts to vaccinate people against the virus, “promoted the vaccine as much as anyone.” He praised governors who did not close down their states, noting that DeSantis ordered the closure of beaches and business in some parts of the state.

“When I hear that he might [run] I think it’s very disloyal,” Trump said. . .

“He won’t be leading, I got him elected,” he said. “I’m the one that chose him.” (Read more from “Trump Hits DeSantis: He’s a COVID Skeptic Phony” HERE)

Pediatric Medical Body Subpoenaed to Provide Documentation on Child Sex Change Policies

A federal judge has ordered a prominent pediatric medical group to provide Florida officials with documents explaining why it supports sex changes for children.

The demand of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) was prompted by its participation in a federal lawsuit against a new Sunshine State law that bars the use of Medicaid to cover sex change procedures. The group is one of 18 facing subpoenas of documents and communications on guidelines and policies regarding youth medical transition from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

Other groups involved in the lawsuit include the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, Pediatric Endocrine Society, Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and Yale University.

At an hour-long hearing last week, U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols narrowed the Florida agency’s request for “any” relevant records to those “sufficient to show” the AAP’s total membership, how it establishes guidelines and policy positions for child sex change treatments, as well as any “official communication” with their entire membership concerning the matter. Pro-Life Father Acquitted of Federal Charges, Attorney Rips Biden Admin ‘Intimidation’

A Catholic pro-life activist facing 11 years in prison for allegedly violating a federal law prohibiting people from blocking others from entering an abortion clinic was acquitted on Monday following a week-long trial.

Mark Houck leads a nonprofit group that counsels women outside of abortion clinics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was providing sidewalk counseling when, the Department of Justice says, he assaulted an abortion escort twice “because he was a volunteer reproductive health care clinic escort.”

“Assault is always a serious offense, and under the [Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances] FACE Act, if the victim is targeted because of their association with a reproductive healthcare clinic, it is a federal crime,” U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Romero said in a DOJ press release. “Our Office and the Department of Justice are committed to prosecuting crimes which threaten the safety and rights of all individuals.” . . .

Houck and his attorneys at the Thomas More Society argued, however, that this was “a political prosecution” meant to “send a message” to pro-life Americans.

“And what’s clear from the Department of Justice at its highest levels, which is directing this case, [is] that they are trying to send a message to pro-life and people of faith: ‘Don’t mess with us,’” Thomas More Society vice president Peter Breen told Fox News. “They want to intimidate — they want to cause good people like Mark to stop praying and counseling at the abortion clinics of our country. And that’s not going to happen.” (Read more from “Pro-Life Father Acquitted of Federal Charges, Attorney Rips Biden Admin ‘Intimidation’” HERE)

Cheaper to Drive Gas-Powered Car 100 Miles Than Average Electric Car

Thanks to skyrocketing electricity prices, it now costs more to drive the average electric vehicle 100 miles than it does to drive a gas-powered car the same distance.

A report from the Anderson Economic Group (AEG) shows that driving a gas-powered car 100 miles costs an average of $11.29. However, the cost for people who drive electric vehicles and charge up at home is $11.60 per hundred miles. A little more expensive. . .

For those electric car owners who use recharging stations, the average cost for 100 miles is substantially higher at $14.40.

But at least you’re saving the planet, right? . . .

Oh, wait, you’re not saving the planet because most of the “clean” electricity you use to charge your eco-car comes from burning fossil fuels…so lol. (Read more from “Cheaper to Drive Gas-Powered Car 100 Miles Than Average Electric Car” HERE)

North Korea Calls NATO Chief’s Seoul Visit a ‘Prelude’ to War

North Korean state media on Monday denounced NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to South Korea as a “prelude to confrontation and war.” During his visit, Stoltenberg urged South Korea to “step up to the specific issue of military support” for Ukraine.

“The trip of the NATO secretary general to South Korea and Japan is a prelude to confrontation and war as it brings the dark clouds of a ‘new Cold War’ to the Asia-Pacific region,” North Korean political researcher Kim Tong-myong charged in an article published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), an outlet controlled by the North Korean regime.

Kim claimed NATO has turned Ukraine into a “theater of proxy war” against Russia and claimed Stoltenberg is attempting the same strategy against North Korea by building an Asian version of NATO.

On Saturday, dictator Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-jong denounced the United States for promising to send 31 advanced main battle tanks to Ukraine. Kim said the offer crossed a “red line” and promised North Korea would “stand in the same trench” as the Russians against the United States.

“I express serious concern over the U.S. escalating the war situation by providing Ukraine with military hardware for ground offensive,” Kim said in a statement published by KCNA. (Read more from “North Korea Calls NATO Chief’s Seoul Visit a ‘Prelude’ to War” HERE)

California’s Medical Misinformation Law Struck Down

So far, California has shown to be turning an even deeper corner in 2023. On January 1, several far-left laws went into effect.[…]Perhaps one of those most worrisome laws mentioned above included a law that punished physicians for so-called medical misinformation about COVID-19, which was blocked late last week.

According to a report from Reuters‘ Brendan Pierson:

Senior U.S. District Judge William Shubb in Sacramento ruled on Wednesday that Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed last October by California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, was too vague for doctors to know what kind of statements might put them at risk of being penalized.”COVID-19 is a quickly evolving area of science that in many aspects eludes consensus,” he wrote.

The preliminary order means that the law cannot be enforced while Shubb hears two lawsuits brought against the law shortly after its passage last year – one by a group of five doctors, and another by a doctor and two advocacy groups including Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Children’s Health Defense, which has long promoted false information about standard childhood vaccines.

The law, known as Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed into law last October, required medical licensing boards in the state to take disciplinary action against physicians who were involved in so-called “dissemination or misinformation or disinformation” related to COVID-19.
