Ex-CDC Chief Warns of Coming ‘Great Pandemic,’ Worse Than COVID

The former chief of America’s Centers for Disease Control says the next pandemic to hit the world will be the “great pandemic,” and it will be “brutal.” And it will come from gain-of-function research. . .

“I do believe the next pandemic, and we’re going to have another pandemic and I think it’s going to be the great pandemic, I consider COVID a minor pandemic, the great pandemic’s going to come,” he said.

“And normally, it would come from spillover…bird flu that learns how to transmit to humans and then go to human-to-human. But I think the species barriers are very real. But it’s much more probable that it will happen because of gain-of-function research in a laboratory and then escape and then we’re going to have a pandemic…which will be much more brutal to the world than COVID was.”

The COVID-19 pandemic actually is blamed for the deaths of some seven million around the globe, more than one million inside the United States, and uncounted trillions of dollars in damage to America’s and other economies.

Experts now consider it likely that it came from a Wuhan, China, lab that was working on gain-of-function research projects with funding from the United States, including grants that went through the federal offices of Anthony Fauci, Joe Biden’s chief COVID adviser. Ron Takes on Don: DeSantis Rips Trump’s Character, Chaotic Leadership Style

By New York Post. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. . .

On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”

The inferred morally censorious tone sparked a furious response from Trump, who raged on his own Truth Social platform: “Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!” . . .

When I asked DeSantis to cite specific differences between him and Trump, he said: “Well I think there’s a few things. The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage.”

DeSantis also slammed Trump’s chaotic, self-obsessed, and divisive management style, saying: “I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the Government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. DeSantis Hits Republican Poll Low as Trump Tightens Grip on Primary

By The Guardian. Donald Trump may be in legal trouble over his alleged weakness for vice, but his predicament is increasingly placing Ron DeSantis – his chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination – in a political vise. . .

DeSantis has floated criticism of Trump over the hush money payment but on Tuesday a new poll showed how Trump, who is also fundraising off his legal peril, has tightened his grip on the primary race.

The Morning Consult survey shows the former president has 54% support among likely primary voters and DeSantis has 26%, tying his lowest score since the poll began in December.

The two men are still way ahead of the rest of the field. Trump’s former vice-president, Mike Pence, was third in the Morning Consult poll, with 7%, three points ahead of Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor.

Liz Cheney, the former Wyoming representative who lost her seat after turning against Trump over the January 6 attack on Congress, and who has not ruled out a run, had 3% support. Biological Man Caught in Women’s YMCA Locker Room Doubles Down on Comparing Self to Lynching Victim

Christynne Wood, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, has once again compared objections to male use of female changing facilities to the lynching of Emmett Till.

A 17-year-old girl allegedly saw Wood naked in a women’s YMCA locker room in December, and her complaint sparked protests over the institution’s policy of allowing transgender people to use facilities according to their gender identity. Wood described the experience in a Sunday op-ed in the San Diego Union-Tribune, comparing it to the 1955 lynching of 15-year-old Emmett Till, who was killed by a mob after a white woman accused him of inappropriate behavior.

“Please understand that the words of a white girl are taken so seriously by our society that they have led to the beating and lynching of people of color, such as Emmett Till in 1955, and this reality is always in the mind of people of color,” Wood wrote. . .

“I don’t know what’s in the mind of that child,” Wood told the Times of San Diego. “So there’s a movie out right now about how that kind of a lie and hysteria can lead to tragedy … The movie’s called ‘Till’ about Emmett Till. The lies of a person got that child beat to death and that’s just the kind of group [here] that would love to pull a stunt like that.”

Rebecca Phillips, the 17-year old girl who had reportedly seen Wood naked in the women’s facilities, said she was showering at the YMCA when she saw a naked male in the women’s locker room. China’s Greatest Weapon: TikTok Pushes Suicide Videos on 13-Year-Olds

It only takes ten minutes after creating an account on China’s TikTok app for the platform’s algorithm to begin pushing suicide videos to 13-year-old children.

The Chinese app’s recommendation algorithm is so advanced that within ten minutes, it will start pushing suicide videos if the young TikTok user suggests he is sexually frustrated, according to research published Tuesday by corporate accountability group Ekō and shared with VICE News.

The researchers set up nine different new TikTok accounts, and listed their age as 13 — the youngest age users can join the platform — then they mimicked who they referred to as “incels” or “involuntary celibates,” which is an online community of “young men who formed a bond around their lack of sexual success with women,” according to VICE News. . .

One test account was shown a video that featured a clip of Jake Gyllenhaal — whose films have reportedly been popular among the “incel community” — and in the video, the actor was seen with a rifle in his mouth saying, “Shoot me. Shoot me in the f**king face.” . . .

Additionally, the majority of the commenters were in support of the suggested suicide. Other commenters lamented about their loneliness, with many saying they felt “dead inside.” One commenter even suggested his own suicide within the next four hours. Study Finds a Bidirectional Link Between Same-Sex Attraction and Psychological Distress

A new study published in Behavior Genetics provides evidence of a bidirectional relationship between same-sex attraction and psychological distress. The findings indicate that experiencing attraction to people of the same sex can result in higher levels of depression and anxiety, but this relationship goes both ways – psychological distress can also result in an increase in sexuality-related stress.

Research has demonstrated that individuals who are sexually attracted to people of the same sex tend to experience higher levels of psychological distress, including depressive symptoms and anxiety, compared to those who are exclusively heterosexual. But most of the research on this topic has been cross-sectional, which limits its ability to draw conclusions about causality. The authors of the new study sought to help fill this gap in the literature.

“I started out investigating the mental health of lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals in Nigeria,” said study author Olakunle Oginni, a postdoctoral research associate at King’s College London and lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University.

“This was because there was little research on LGB Nigerians’ mental health despite the wide recognition of higher mental health difficulties among LGB individuals. I developed expertise in the twin design during my PhD and used this method to show that the association between sexual orientation and mental health is not due to overlapping genetic influences. The present study is significant because it demonstrates how being LGB can ’cause’ psychological distress (anxiety and depressive symptoms), and potential mechanisms for this effect.”

The study analyzed data from the UK Twins Early Development Study, a large twin cohort investigating genetic and environmental factors that shape individual differences in cognitive and learning abilities, behavior, and emotions. The data analyzed in the current study were collected in two phases between June 2017 and February 2019. The final sample comprised 9,697 and 8,718 individuals from the first and second phases, respectively. The average age of the participants during this wave of data collection was 22.3 years. ‘Unconstitutional’: Federal Judge Blocks Multiple California Gun Restrictions

A federal judge issued a temporary injunction blocking multiple California gun restrictions Monday, saying the laws violated the Constitution in light of a landmark Supreme Court case in June.

Federal District Judge Cormac J. Carney, a George W. Bush appointee, temporarily restricted portions of California’s Unsafe Handgun Act that mandated purchase restrictions on certain handguns, such as magazine safety requirements and ammunition micro-stamping, as they violate the Second Amendment. Carney blocked the restrictions following precedent set forth in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen case, leaving Democratic California District Attorney Robert Bonta 14 days to request a stay or submit an appeal.

“Californians have the constitutional right to acquire and use state-of-the-art handguns to protect themselves,” Carney wrote in the ruling. “They should not be forced to settle for decade-old models of handguns to ensure that they remain safe inside or outside the home.”

The California gun roster, implemented in 2001, restricts handguns from being imported into California to be sold, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered unless the firearm had passed a multitude of tests and been listed in the roster, according to the law. Relic handguns and certain single-action revolvers were exempt from the rule.

“For decades, this ‘roster’ law has deprived law-abiding citizens of the right to choose a handgun appropriate for their individual needs,” Chuck Michel, head of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, said in a press release. Fan Poops in Aisle Near Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at Broadway Show

Page Six hears that a serial pooper has been stalking the halls of the legendary Shubert Theater — and the last time they struck, a turd appeared in the aisle near Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at “Some Like It Hot.”

A source close to the show insists that it was a regrettable one-off incident.

But another source tells us that the theater’s staff said that the s–t’s (almost) hit the fans at other performances as well.

“Last week when Hillary and Chelsea Clinton were in the audience,” said a source, “the lights came up for intermission and there were two human turds in the aisle just near the famous political duo.”

Trump Announces Plan to ‘Dismantle the Deep State’

Ahead of a prospective arrest on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump posted a plan to take on the “deep state,” a supposed cabal of anti-Trump federal officials working against his political agenda.

Trump’s 10-point plan largely addresses pervasive internal issues that plagued his first administration, such as leaking and bureaucratic intransigence.

First among his points was a vow to reissue a 2020 executive order “restoring the president’s authority to remove rogue bureaucrats,” a power he promised to wield “very aggressively.”

He further vowed to “clean out all of the corrupt actors in our national security and intelligence apparatus, and there are plenty of them. The departments and agencies that have been weaponized will be completely overhauled so that faceless bureaucrats will never again be able to target and persecute conservatives, Christians, or the left’s political enemies.”

Third, he vowed to reform (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) FISA courts, which he maligned as corrupt and lamented that the judges were seemingly indifferent to the facts when addressing warrant applications. Russian Pop Star Found Dead From Drowning After Criticizing Putin

Russian pop star Dima Nova was found dead from drowning on Sunday after criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was 34.

Born Dmitry Svirgunov, Nova founded the popular electronic group Cream Soda — whose song “Aqua Disco” became an anthem for anti-war protests in Russia, Newsweek reported.

In the song, the pop group called out Putin over his alleged $1.3 billion mansion. The song was commonly heard at protests against the country both before and after Russia’s invasion into Ukraine. These protests became known as “Aqua Disco Parties.” . . .

The report cited an article in a Russian news website People Talk that said Nova fell through the ice while crossing the Volga river in the Yaroslavl region, north east of Moscow. Xi Jinping Uses Russia Trip to Position China as the Winner of Ukraine Invasion

Chinese dictator Xi Jinping emphasized on Monday that his visit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, charged with human rights crimes before the International Criminal Court (ICC) less than a week ago, is intended to promote “friendship, cooperation, and peace,” positioning China as a mediator in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Xi will be in Moscow from Monday to Wednesday, meeting with Putin and other senior leaders. Xi has emphasized China’s potential role in the Ukraine crisis since arriving, promoting a Chinese “peace plan” debuted last month that demands a ceasefire, lays no blame on either side, and does not offer specificity on its demand for both sides to “calm down as soon as possible.”

Arriving on Monday, Xi vowed that China would “stand guard over the world order,” hinting at ambitions to mediate the Ukraine conflict.

Both Russia and Ukraine have offered tepid reactions to the peace plan but have encouraged Beijing to get more involved in the conflict in the role of mediator. If successful in halting some of the hostilities, Xi could use Ukraine to greatly elevate China’s international reputation as peacemaker, even as China continues to execute a years-long genocide on its own people.

The Russian news agency Tass reported that his first meeting with Putin on Monday lasted 4.5 hours and, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, “obviously” addressed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Xi and Putin will return to talks at 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Peskov added, regarding both countries’ bilateral ties and the Ukraine invasion.
