Days after it was reported that Elon Musk could be developing a rival to OpenAI‘s chatGPT, the Tesla and Twitter CEO expressed confusion over how a non-profit organization became a $30 billion for-profit company.

Family Doctor Arrested for Child Porn, Allegedly Recorded Children With Camera Hidden in Bracelet

A resident doctor who was training in family medicine not only had an alleged huge cache of child porn, but he also allegedly recorded children as young as 6 years old using a camera hidden in a bracelet as he examined them.

Dr. Bradford David Ferrick, 32, of Amherst, Massachusetts, was ordered held without bail on Tuesday. He had been completing his medical residency at Baystate Franklin Family Medicine since last summer.

The first incident that led to the discovery of Ferrick’s alleged depravity came when police in Winchester, where Ferrick’s parents live, reviewed three cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; those tips suggested a Google account was uploading child pornography. Files had been uploaded to an IP address in the Syracuse, New York, area; Ferrick was attending the University of New York Upstate Medical University there.

More tips reportedly found illicit material uploaded at an IP address connected to Ferrick’s parents’ home. Investigators searching the home found 61 electronic devices, including hidden camera systems and memory cards holding “thousands of images and videos” purportedly showing child pornography, The Boston Globe reported.

Blame Hillary and Obama: Tons of Uranium Concentrate Missing From Libya

Some 2.5 tons of natural uranium stored in a site in war-torn Libya have gone missing, the United Nations nuclear watchdog said Thursday, raising safety and proliferation concerns.

Natural uranium can’t immediately be used for energy production or bomb fuel, as the enrichment process typically requires the metal to be converted into a gas, then later spun in centrifuges to reach the levels needed. However, each ton of natural uranium — if obtained by a group with the technological means and resources — can be refined to 5.6 kilograms of weapons-grade material over time, experts say. That makes finding the missing metal important for nonproliferation experts.

In a statement, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency said its director-general, Rafael Mariano Grossi, informed member states Wednesday about the missing uranium. . .

Tuesday, “agency safeguards inspectors found that 10 drums containing approximately 2.5 tons of natural uranium in the form of uranium ore concentrate were not present as previously declared at a location in the state of Libya,” the IAEA said. . .

While inspectors removed the last of the enriched uranium from Libya in 2009, the yellowcake remained behind, with the U.N. in 2013 estimating some 6,400 barrels of it were stored at Sabha. American officials had worried Iran could try to purchase the uranium from Libya, something Qadhafi’s top civilian nuclear official tried to reassure the U.S. about, according to a 2009 diplomatic cable published by WikiLeaks. ‘There Is Something Dangerous About This Movement’: JK Rowling Pushes Back Against Pro-Trans Activists

J.K. Rowling recently elaborated on her viewpoints that are critical of the transgender movement, claiming she felt it was important to speak up and that many of her fans are grateful to her for doing so.

In the latest episode of “The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling” podcast, the author said she has listened to the transgender movement and attempted to understand its viewpoint, but still felt it was important to speak her thoughts on the matter.

The “Harry Potter” author has received substantial backlash over the past few years due her decision to share opinions that have rankled many pro-transgender activists. In 2019 Rowling tweeted support for Maya Forstater, a woman who was fired from her job because she criticized policy which would have allowed people to identify as any gender they wish. In 2020, Rowling also tweeted criticism of the idea that the sex binary “isn’t real” and slammed an op-ed for using the term “people who menstruate” in lieu of “women.”

“I can only say that I’ve thought about it deeply and hard and long. And I’ve listened, I promise, to the other side,” Rowling said on the podcast Tuesday. “And I believe, absolutely, that there is something dangerous about this movement, and it must be challenged.”

Students Slam Dem Lawmakers Who Demanded University Cancel Conservative Speaker Events

Democratic Pennsylvania lawmakers are demanding a state university cancel three conservative speaker events set to occur this semester because of alleged “hate speech,” according to a Wednesday statement.

Conservative student groups at the University of Pittsburgh (UPitt) will host Daily Wire commentator Michael Knowles, Senior Editor Cabot Phillips and former University of Kentucky swimmer and Independent Women’s Forum spokeswoman Riley Gaines at separate events this semester, according to an Instagram post. The LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, led by Democratic state Reps. Jessica Benham and Malcolm Kenyatta, issued a statement on Wednesday that demanded UPitt cancel the events because the speakers are “transphobic.” . . .

The Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter will host Phillips on March 24 to speak about “Everything The Media Won’t Tell You” and Gaines, who competed against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas during the 2022 NCAA women’s swimming championship, on March 27 to speak about efforts to “Save Women’s Sports.” The College Republican chapter will host a debate sponsored by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute between Knowles and transgender professor Deirdre McCloskey about “Transgenderism & Womanhood” on April 18.

Liliana Orozco, TPUSA chapter president, told the DCNF that the chapter invited Gaines to speak because she is relatable as a recent college graduate. Khaleil Laracuente, the chapter’s Vice President, said that the lawmakers are “supposed to uphold and defend the Constitution,” but their actions show that “they are not here to do so, nor do they care about the First Amendment.”

“I find it quite repulsive that government officials who are well-versed in the laws and comprehend that Pitt is unable to cancel our event without exposing a lawsuit are still pressing for them to do so,” Laracunete told the DCNF. Tech Tycoon Called a ‘Creep’ for $100K Offer to Female Plane Passenger

A tech tycoon has been branded a “creep” after allegedly offering a woman $100,000 to take off her face mask on board a Delta flight.

Steve Kirsch took to Twitter to say he made the anonymous passenger the offer last Friday.

“I am on board a Delta flight right now. The person sitting next to me in first-class refused $100,000 to remove her mask for the entire flight,” the millionaire wrote. “No joke. This was after I explained they don’t work. She works for a pharma company.”

Kirsch accompanied his post with a selfie that showed him smiling on board the full flight. He did not disclose the destination to which he was traveling. . .

The U.S. Is Supporting a Policy of Brutal Attrition in Ukraine Based on Incomplete and Skewed Western Coverage

“Ukraine will win.” Some variation of this has become the unofficial mantra of U.S. policy toward the Ukraine war, asserted in countless columns, interviews and speeches, ones often pledging open-ended U.S. commitment to the Ukrainian war effort and chiding policymakers for not sending greater quantities and more escalatory types of weapons.

It was partly on this basis, in fact — that with enough support, Ukraine could militarily defeat a Russia weaker than many thought — that then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson [stupidly] urged against peace talks early in the war. . .

Yet this central claim of an almost certain Ukrainian military victory over chastened Russian forces is asserted in the absence of one key measure of the military situation: verifiable battlefield losses. From the beginning of the war until now, Ukraine has, like Russia, treated its casualties as a state secret, one so closely guarded that not even U.S. intelligence and officials, who advise the country’s leadership on military strategy and assist in war planning, know exactly how many Ukrainians have been killed and wounded over the past year. This is even though, as one Ukrainian officer told the Wall Street Journal in a recent piece about the grinding battle for the city of Bakhmut, “the war is won not by the party that gains territory, but by the party that destroys the armed forces of the adversary” . . .

The lack of public awareness of Ukrainian casualty levels raises a number of thorny questions: Are frequent predictions of certain Ukrainian military victory more fanciful than grounded in reality? Is the American public being misled into backing an escalating military commitment on false pretenses? Has Ukrainian leadership itself, as a result, been incentivized to set unrealistic military objectives that have helped to prolong the death and destruction ordinary Ukrainians have suffered? And has it helped create a political climate in the United States opposed to diplomatic solutions?

We may soon find out. According to the Washington Post, even Ukrainian officials are now questioning their forces’ ability to launch a successful counteroffensive after the losses they’ve taken, with many of the most experienced fighters taken permanently off the battlefield. Hillary Clinton Hangs Out With Zelensky’s Wife, Says Climate Change Killing Women in Ukraine

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that women and children are the “primary victims of conflict and climate change” and that the war in Ukraine “shows us that.” . . .

Clinton, sitting alongside MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, former Tennis star Billie Jean King and Gloria Steinem, added that “there are a lot of other conflicts, a lot of other challenges that we have to take into account.” . . .

“So I think the bottom line is we have a lot of work to do. And we can’t take any of the progress that has been made for granted, because as you said, Mika, with the Dobbs decision and other kinds of organized institutional pushback, we’re seeing a lot of what we did take for granted in terms of rights and opportunities at risk,” Clinton said.

Towards the end of the conversation, Clinton encouraged women to accept the fact that they have to be better “prepared” than anybody and to “practice communicating.” . . .

“That’s what Olena is doing, traveling around the world,” Clinton added in reference to the Ukrainian first lady. “She is standing up on behalf of her country and the people who are the most vulnerable and marginalized, you don’t have to be in the middle of a horrible war that is breaking every law there is and committing crimes against humanity to stand up and speak out and know that you’re doing it not just for yourself. Trump Allies Say DeSantis Running Illegal ‘Shadow Campaign’ for President

Former President Donald Trump took his attacks on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to a new level Wednesday, as a super PAC linked to the 76-year-old accused his would-be rival of ethics violations tied to what it calls DeSantis’ “shadow presidential campaign.”

A draft of the 15-page letter by Make America Great Again Inc. calls on the Florida Commission on Ethics to investigate DeSantis, alleging that the 44-year-old has violated a slew of state statutes as well as federal campaign finance laws.

The complaint refers to DeSantis as a “de facto candidate for president” and claims that ​the governor is “leveraging his elected office and breaching his associated duties in a coordinated effort to develop his national profile, enrich himself and his political allies, and influence the national electorate.”​

“Governor DeSantis’ failure to declare his candidacy is no mere oversight,” the complaint alleged. “[I]t is a coordinated effort to specifically designed for him to accept, as unethical gifts, illegal campaign contributions and certain personal benefits that are necessarily intended to influence his official decision to resign from office under Florida’s resign to run law.
