Judge Hands Desperate Alvin Bragg a Massive Loss in His Effort to Avoid House Investigation

. . .Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was desperately trying to stave off the House investigation into the question of the political nature of his prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

Bragg filed a suit against the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), arguing the investigation was a “transparent campaign to intimidate and attack” his case against former President Donald Trump. He sought to get a temporary restraining order blocking the subpoena that the Committee issued to Mark Pomerantz, a former assistant district attorney in Bragg’s office who oversaw the investigation into Trump before he left the DA’s office. Bragg also tried to block the Committee from getting “confidential documents and testimony from the district attorney himself as well as his current and former employees and officials.”

Bragg is trying to do all he can not to comply, claiming he was taking action “in response to an unprecedently [sic] brazen and unconstitutional attack by members of Congress on an ongoing New York State criminal prosecution and investigation of former President Donald J. Trump.”

But the judge in the matter did not agree. U.S. District Court Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, a Trump appointee, denied the request from Alvin Bragg for a temporary restraining order against Rep. Jordan. In the denial, the judge noted that Bragg didn’t even provide documents he should have to support his cause, including that “subpoena purportedly served on Mr. Pomerantz” as well as the “Declaration of Theodore J. Boutrous, Jr.,” which is mentioned in Bragg’s moving papers. Sounds like Bragg didn’t help himself, and the judge is chiding him for failure to have everything he should have had for such a motion.

Alex Murdaugh Sent to Maximum Security Correctional Institution

Convicted double murderer Alex Murdaugh has been assigned to the maximum security McCormick Correctional Institution prison in South Carolina.

Murdaugh, 54, who was found guilty of killing his wife and youngest son last month, was moved into protective custody and appointed to the prison due to his high-profile case, Fox News reported.

The disgraced legal scion will be kept from the general population and be housed in a single 8-by-10-foot cell with a bed, toilet and sink cramped inside.

The specialized unit housing Murdaugh holds only 28 inmates, and “their location is not disclosed for safety and security reasons,” officials said in a statement last month about the need to move him.

The McCormick Correctional Institution houses a total of 1,128 adult male inmates and has been the scene of several violent crimes and riots in recent years. (Read more from “Alex Murdaugh Sent to Maximum Security Correctional Institution” HERE)

Second Tennessee Democrat Reappointed to State House After Expulsion

The second Tennessee Democrat expelled from the state House of Representatives last week for disrupting proceedings in the chamber was restored to his seat Wednesday after a unanimous vote.

Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) will return to serve the 86th District following the special vote by the Shelby County Board of Commissioners.

“Nashville thought they could silence democracy,” said the 28-year-old, whose political persona has undergone a series of changes in recent years. “You can’t expel hope, you can’t expel justice.”

The board has 13 members, but only seven, all Democrats, were present for the vote to reinstate Pearson.

The Republican-led Tennessee House ousted Pearson by a 69-26 vote April 6, moments after voting to expel state Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) by a 72-25 vote. (Read more from “Second Tennessee Democrat Reappointed to State House After Expulsion” HERE)

LOL: Leaked Pics Show Bud Light Exec Who Wants to Update Company’s ‘Fratty’ Culture Enjoying Fratty Party

A Bud Light executive who claimed the beer company needs to update its “fratty” and “out-of-touch” image appeared to enjoy the Greek Life at Harvard while partying at an alleged “haven of inebriated ditzes.”

Budweiser’s vice president of marketing Alissa Heinerscheid could be seen in images on her now-deleted Facebook page enjoying a campus scavenger hunt, blowing up condoms like balloons, and downing beers during a 2006 “boozefest” . . .

Heinerscheid and her college pals can be seen in an album titled “Isis Senior Reverse Initiation Scavenger Hunt,” where the co-eds held a talk about “the exploration of the scrotum professors.”

The photos appeared to have been taken during an event hosted by Harvard’s ISIS Club, a group founded to create a “safe social space for women” to socialize on campus.

The club, however, was slammed by the Harvard Crimson student newspaper in 2005 as a “haven of inebriated ditzes” who took part in “boozefests.” (Read more from “LOL: Leaked Pics Show Bud Light Exec Who Wants to Update Company’s ‘Fratty’ Culture Enjoying Fratty Party” HERE)

James Comer to Provide ‘Concerning’ Update on Biden Family Business Probe

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced Wednesday he will provide an official update in the coming weeks on the Biden family business investigation upon completion of reviewing the family’s suspicious activity reports (SARs) held at the Treasury Department.

Over the years, U.S. banks have flagged over 150 SARs from Hunter and James Biden that included “large” amounts of money flagged for further review. SARs “often contain evidence of potential criminal activities, such as money laundering and fraud,” according to a 2020 Senate report.

“Over the past 2 weeks, @GOPoversight has combed through Biden family bank records & suspicious activity reports filed against Hunter Biden. We also continue to gather info from whistleblowers,” Comer posted on Twitter. “It doesn’t look good for @POTUS. I will update the American people soon.” . . .

“We are probably going to have a press conference within the next two week to update the American people on what all we found,” Comer said. “It’s very concerning”:

Fed Economists See Bank Turmoil Triggering Recession This Year

The recent turmoil in the U.S. banking sector is likely to tip the economy into a mild recession later this year, Federal Reserve officials were told by the central bank’s staff economists last month.

Minutes from the March meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee released Wednesday afternoon indicated that Fed economists forecast a recession beginning later this year. The economy is not expected to fully bounce back until after next year, the minutes show.

“Given their assessment of the potential economic effects of the recent banking-sector developments, the staff’s projection at the time of the March meeting included a mild recession starting later this year, with a recovery over the subsequent two years. Real GDP growth in 2024 was projected to remain below the staff’s estimate of potential output growth, and then GDP growth in 2025 was expected to be above that of potential,” the minutes report.

The Fed’s staff now see the level of real output to fall below its estimate of potential output in early 2024, more than a year sooner than in the previous projection. The unemployment rate was projected to rise above the staff’s estimate of its natural rate early next year. (Read more from “Fed Economists See Bank Turmoil Triggering Recession This Year” HERE)

MORE LIES: Internal Emails Suggest Biden White House Was Involved in Mar-a-Lago Raid Despite Previous Denial

Biden Administration Was Involved in Authorizing Mar-a-Lago Raid, Report From Trump Aide’s Legal Group Claims: Emails Suggest FBI Accessed Ex-president’s Records With White House’s Help

By Daily Mail. The legal entity run by former Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller is claiming that their independent probe found that President Joe Biden was involved in giving authorization for the FBI to raid Mar-a-Lago last year.

America First Legal filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request that they claim resulted in discovery that the FBI initially obtained access to the records through a ‘special access request’ from Biden’s White House.

‘I called it the morning of the Mar-a-Lago raid. Biden knew everything!!!’ Trump’s middle son Eric Trump tweeted in response to the new report. . .

America First Legal, self-dubbed as a ‘long-awaited answer to the ACLU,’ is calling on the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to turn over materials related to Biden’s involvement in the raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

In August 2022, the FBI conducted a raid on Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida to obtain documents and materials he took from the White House when they were required to be handed over to the National Archives for preservation. Internal Emails Suggest Biden White House Was Involved in Mar-a-Lago Raid

By Townhall. Remember how insistent White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was that President Biden and the White House had no knowledge of or involvement with the FBI’s August 2022 raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate? Or how many times Jean-Pierre emphasized that the Department of Justice was a totally independent entity operating without partisan political steering from the Oval Office?

Well, America First Legal now says an investigation they conducted has turned up documents showing that the Biden White House was, in fact, involved in the unprecedented raid on a former president. What’s more, AFL’s investigation also found reason to believe the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) misled Congress about its knowledge of how the raid was approved.

Through its investigation, America First Legal obtained internal NARA emails showing discussions of the DOJ’s “special access request” related to the documents that Trump is alleged to have kept improperly after leaving office in 2021:

One email from NARA’s General Counsel that was obtained states that Archives officials emailed former Trump administration lawyers “to tell them the Justice Department, via the Biden White House, had made the request.”

Via the Biden White House, eh? Would that be the Biden White House that said it was shocked to learn of the raid? In a Twitter thread, America First Legal brought the receipts:

Melania Trump Fires Back at Press After Prolonged Public Absence

Former first lady Melania Trump’s office warned the public Tuesday not to believe speculation on her “personal, professional, and political” stances, two days after she appeared in public with former President Donald Trump for the first time since his arrest.

Melania, 52, accompanied her husband, 76, to Easter brunch at Mar-a-Lago Sunday, and broke her silence online one week after the 45th president was charged with 34 felony counts of business fraud by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. . .

Tuesday’s statement from the former first lady’s office did not call out any specific news organizations, but criticized articles where “unnamed sources are cited to bolster the author’s claims.”

“We ask readers to exercise caution and good judgment when determining whether or not stories concerning the former First Lady are accurate, particularly when they fail to cite Mrs. Trump as a source of information,” added the office, which did not mention the former president or his ongoing legal battles.

Trump is due back in court Dec. 4 after pleading not guilty to all the charges. The former president has denied any wrongdoing in connection with the payments, as well as having an affair with Daniels, whom he has repeatedly referred to as “Horseface.” (Read more from “Melania Trump Fires Back at Press After Prolonged Public Absence” HERE)

Dems Dealt Yet Another Blow as Congressman Jumps Ship, the Third to Switch to GOP in a Month

Democrats were dealt another blow from within their own ranks this week as yet another state lawmaker declared he was leaving the party.

According to a Monday report by The Advocate, a Louisiana-based newspaper, state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe announced he had left the Democratic Party and would be registering as a Republican.

It was not immediately clear what prompted LaCombe’s departure, however he is now the second Louisiana Democrat in less than a month to switch party affiliations, and the third nationwide after another state lawmaker in North Carolina did the same.

Last month, Louisiana state Rep. Francis Thompson gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority after he switched his party affiliation, and earlier this month, North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority with her switch as well. Attacks on Churches Surged in First Quarter of 2023, Report Finds

Attacks on churches escalated in the first quarter of 2023 consistent with a years-long trend of rising vandalism, arson and shootings, none worse this year than the deadly rampage at the Covenant School in Nashville.

The Family Research Council’s supplemental first-quarter update to “Hostilities in Churches,” its December report, recorded 69 attacks on churches from January to March, nearly three times the number carried out against houses of worship during the same period in 2022.

“If this rate continues, 2023 will have the highest number of incidents of the six years FRC has tracked,” the conservative organization said in the report released Monday.

The vast majority of the incidents were vandalism. The report identified 53 episodes of property destruction and graffiti; 10 incidents of arson, arson attempts or fires with unknown causes; three gun-related incidents; three bomb threats; and two other attacks. Some incidents fell in more than one category.

The attacks occurred in 29 states, led by North Carolina, which saw seven episodes, followed by Ohio and Tennessee with five each. There were no incidents reported in 21 states or the District of Columbia. (Read more from “Attacks on Churches Surged in First Quarter of 2023, Report Finds” HERE)
