Gingrich Indicts Obama for ‘8 Years of Failure’ in the Fight Against Terrorism

As unrest in Turkey — which President Barack Obama has embraced as a staunch ally — has forced America to suspend all air attacks against ISIS, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich pounded home the fact that the Obama administration has continually failed to execute a Middle East policy that achieves peace and stops terrorism.

Gingrich and Obama have been locked in a war of words ever since Thursday night, when Gingrich said America needed a way to weed out Muslims loyal to the United States from those who are not. He said the United States might need to “test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported.”

“The very suggestion is repugnant and an affront to everything we stand for as Americans,” Obama said of such a proposal Friday.

Gingrich then fired back on Twitter.

Gingrich’s comments about Obama’s lack of leadership in the fight against terrorism came as Friday’s coup attempt in Turkey left that American ally shaken, causing Turkey to suspend all U.S. flights against ISIS that would have been launched from the country’s Incirlik air base. The use of Turkey-based air power has been the centerpiece of the Obama administration’s efforts to fight ISIS in Syria.

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly put his finger on the problems of the region by indicting Obama for leaning on allies who never quite come up to expectations instead of getting the job done with the U.S. taking charge.

“The Middle East is absolute chaos, anything could happen, and we’re in a war against radical Islam — and this kind of stuff just makes it more difficult to fight that war,” adding that the unrest in Turkey is “what happens when the United States steps back and tries to become one nation of many, and doesn’t lead.” (For more from the author of “Gingrich Indicts Obama for ‘8 Years of Failure’ in the Fight Against Terrorism” please click HERE)
