Pakistani Immigrant Yells ‘I’m Gonna Kill All the Jews’ in Antisemitic Attack Outside Jewish School
A 58-year-old man attempted to run down Orthodox students and a rabbi outside a Brooklyn Jewish school on Wednesday, shouting antisemitic threats, according to police and sources.
Video footage from the Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol shows the driver, identified as Asghar Ali, a Pakistani immigrant and livery cab driver, revving his engine and mounting the curb toward individuals near a Yeshiva in Canarsie at approximately 11:25 a.m.
The incident began when Ali, driving a 2011 white Crown Victoria, made a turn onto East 55th Street and veered toward students. He then circled the block, targeting more students and a rabbi while allegedly yelling, “I’m gonna kill all the Jews.”
Fortunately, no one was injured as the victims managed to run into the building.
Tire marks were visible on the sidewalk near the Yeshiva, and a police car was stationed outside. The driver initially escaped but was quickly located by the Shomrim Safety Patrol, who alerted the NYPD.
Bob Moskovitz, executive coordinator of the patrol, explained how they identified the suspect’s car. “We were able to retrieve the video footage. We got the guy’s plate number,” Moskovitz said. “One of our members saw the car during his daily patrol.”
Ali was apprehended and taken to Coney Island Hospital. He has four prior arrests and is considered an “emotionally disturbed” person.
Moskovitz expressed relief at the arrest. “We were very pleased to apprehend this individual. This is not somebody that we want driving around the streets, especially with this antisemitic, anti-Jewish climate out there. Now everybody can be a little more relaxed.”
