Miller Blasts Begich for ‘Promoting a Culture of Executive Lawlessness’

Photo Credit: SenateDemocratsJoe Miller today responded to news this week that junior Senator Mark Begich joined a large block of Democrat senators and representatives in urging President Obama to bypass Congress and implement a truncated version of the federal ENDA legislation via executive fiat.

“Apparently Mark Begich skipped out on high school civics,” Miller said. “For a United States Senator to essentially petition the nation’s chief executive to assume legislative powers is absolutely chilling. Mark either doesn’t understand the Constitution, or he is willfully violating its clear intent, and by doing so is promoting a culture of executive lawlessness.”

The letter Begich signed specifically urged Obama to fulfill his State of the Union promise to “make this a year of action” by signing an executive order to impose the failed ENDA legislation on federal contractors, though the President failed to mention it as one of his executive action priorities.

Perhaps just as disturbing is Senator Begich’s utter disregard for the democratic process, not just in Washington, but also in Alaska. Similar legislation has gotten no traction in the Alaska Legislature, and went down to overwhelming defeat when Proposition 5 was placed on the Anchorage Municipal ballot in 2012.

Miller concluded, “While I vehemently disagree with offering special rights based upon one’s sexual preference and thereby creating government-mandated discrimination against people of faith, the idea of government by fiat should be repugnant to all Americans, regardless of their political ideology.”

Joe Miller is a husband, father, combat veteran, businessman, and advocate for constitutional liberty, who believes in limited government, individual rights, private property, free markets, and the right to life.

National Association for Gun Rights Endorses Joe Miller for U.S. Senate

The National Association for Gun Rights PAC today announced its endorsement of Joe Miller for U.S. Senate. Miller has now secured the endorsement of two of the three most prominent groups advocating for Americans’ Second Amendment rights. The Gun Owners of America’s Political Victory Fund endorsed Miller last month. The NRA has not endorsed to date in the U.S. Senate race, but Miller received an “A” rating from the group as a candidate in 2010. Miller has also been endorsed by the Combat Veterans for Congress PAC. Following is NAGR’s endorsement in full:

The National Association for Gun Rights PAC is pleased to announce their endorsement of Joe Miller for U.S.Senate.

While Miller is an avid outdoorsman and gun collector, he recognizes the purpose of the Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport, but is about our right to self-defense, individual liberty and protection against government tyranny.

Joe Miller stated, “Our Founders wrote the right to keep and bear arms into the Constitution as a guarantor of all our fundamental rights as Americans. I will not give one inch in defending against Washington’s assault on gun rights and will fight tirelessly against anti-Second Amendment forces in the Senate.”

“NAGR is doing great work in educating our fellow Americans about their natural and inalienable rights recognized in the Second Amendment. I am proud of their uncompromising stance on gun rights and am honored to receive the group’s endorsement,” said Miller.

Joe Miller’s opponent, Mark Begich has failed to protect this most fundamental right time-and-again during his tenure in office. He voted to confirm Eric Holder, the most anti-gun rights Attorney General in our nation’s history, as well as several anti-gun judges to the federal bench. Begich voted for the ObamaCare medical records provision which will be used to deny Americans their Second Amendment rights: a similar provision has already been used to keep over 100,000 veterans from exercising their right to keep and bear arms. In a Senate Committee last month, Begich used procedural tactics to prevent a vote on Senator Rand Paul’s guns in Post Offices amendment. While Mark Begich claims to fully support Alaskans’ Second Amendment rights, he has a clear record of undermining them.

“Joe Miller understands the Second Amendment guarantees true freedom for all Americans,” stated Dudley Brown, Executive Vice President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “His views on gun rights don’t come as lip service to appease a particular single issue group, but from a deeply held belief in the Constitution.”

NAGR-PAC works to elect more pro-gun leaders in Congress, not more followers.

Miller Calls on Begich to Fulfill His Constitutional Duty and Support the ENFORCE the Law Act

Photo Credit: Breitbart Today, U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller called on Senator Mark Begich to fulfill his constitutional duty and support the ENFORCE the Law Act, which passed handily in the House of Representatives earlier this week.

“The most chilling words this President has stated during his last five-plus years in office are, ‘Where Congress won’t act, I will.’ Nothing could be more antithetical to the government that our Founders established, which created a nation of laws and not of men. A renowned and liberal legal scholar recently testified before Congress that we have reached a ‘constitutional tipping point.’ I agree. The time has long since passed to hold this President accountable for his numerous Constitutional violations,” said Miller.

The list of unconstitutional executive decrees is legion from the dozens of changes to ObamaCare clearly crafted for political gain, to changing our immigration laws, to the re-writing and re-interpreting of the EPA’s authority in order to create new ‘climate change’ laws out of whole cloth, to altering the work requirements for welfare recipients, to refusing to enforce DOMA and thereby appropriating unto himself both the authority of the legislative and the judicial branches of government, this President’s lawless acts threaten the present and future liberty of our nation.

The Constitution of the United States is a document based upon centuries of history in the advance in the cause of liberty. The Founders knew their inheritance as English citizens and as beings created in the image of God and crafted a document to “secure the blessings of liberty” for themselves and future generations. Our inheritance as Americans is the freedom to govern our own lives free from tyrannical rule. This is the truth contained in the Declaration of Independence, the abolishment of the Star Chamber, the Magna Carta, and based upon the laws of nature and nature’s God.

The Constitution divides power among the three branches of government, so ambition would counteract ambition as the document’s ‘Father’ James Madison wrote, and guard against any taking of authority a particular branch does not have. The ENFORCE the Law Act is a powerful and much needed step to restore the balance of power between the branches.

“We have not come through centuries of hard fought gains in the cause of liberty, through war and peace, only to have its cause reversed in our day. I urge Senator Begich to support the swift passage of the ENFORCE the Law Act,” said Miller.

Alaska Sues U.S. Over Its Rejection of Oil Exploration Plan

Photo Credit: Paxson Woelber/flickrAlaska sued the Obama administration over its rejection of an oil and gas exploration plan for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as the state seeks to determine the extent of energy resources in the area.

Alaska Governor Sean Parnell said exploration for the coastal plain of the wildlife area was mandated by a federal Alaska land conservation act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service refused to review the plan, citing a legal opinion by the Interior Department issued in 1987 claiming provisions of the law had expired, Parnell said in a complaint filed in federal court in Anchorage, Alaska.

“It is both disappointing and disturbing that the Obama administration, which claims that it is pursuing an ‘all of the above’ energy policy, is afraid to let the people of the United States learn more about ANWR’s oil and gas resources,” Parnell, a Republican, said in a statement. “The modern technology that we are seeking to use is responsibly utilized all across the North Slope with extremely limited environmental impact, and would dramatically improve our understanding of ANWR’s resources.”

The state is proposing to study a portion of the reserve known as Area 1002, which Alaska officials said covers 3,000 square miles (4,800 square kilometers) and is less than a tenth of the entire Arctic reserve. Estimates from 30 years ago put the median volume of oil in the refuge at 10.4 billion barrels, according to the state of Alaska.

Miller on Club for Growth Endorsement: ‘I Never Expected to be K Street’s Candidate’

Photo Credit: Breitbart Fairbanks, Alaska. March 12, 2014 – Joe Miller expressed disbelief at the Washington-based Club for Growth’s endorsement of Dan Sullivan in the Alaska senate race earlier today.

“It is unfortunate that Club for Growth would insert themselves into a contested primary to work against advocates of the free market,” Miller said. “But I never expected to be K Street’s candidate. We won the 2010 primary without their help, and we expect to do it again.”

National media has been quick to point out the group’s support of Joe Miller’s candidacy in 2010, but Club for Growth declined to endorse Miller against the most liberal Republican Senator seeking re-election that year. Only after Miller’s stunning primary victory did he receive an endorsement for his run against Democrat Scott McAdams.

Miller continued, “We are undeterred. This is not a time for fair weather friends and sunshine patriots. I am not surprised that an organization thousands of miles from Alaska, inside the Washington DC bubble, may see things differently than the folks on the ground.”

The Miller campaign would like to offer a constructive piece of advice. It may be a good idea to vet candidates before throwing one’s reputation away. It is regretable that Club for Growth would cast their vote for the status quo. Dan Sullivan is just another big government crony capitalist.

Had they done their homework they would have known that Dan Sullivan’s campaign is funded by international finance – to include former President of the World Bank Robert Zoellick; President and CEO of the International Institute of Finance Timothy Adams; former Chairman of the Board of the New York Federal Reserve Stephan Friedman; the wife of former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson; Jeffery Reuben III, CEO of Rockefeller and Company; numerous Goldman Sachs executives; George W. Bush’s Chief of Staff Josh Bolton, etc. In other words, many of the architects of the Big Bank and Wall Street Bailouts that Club for Growth claims to oppose.

In addition to his ties to corporate welfare, Sullivan has clearly supported international welfare and the international community’s shakedown of American taxpayers for billions for the “climate change” scam, and more . . .

“I know my candidacy will not have the backing of Wall Street or K Street. It will also not have the support of the party elite in Washington or in Alaska. To curry favor with the Establishment is not why I am running for U.S. Senate,” said Miller. “I am running because I believe our nation has reached a critical juncture. As I travel the state, I am stirred with hope, because people throughout Alaska get it. They know the path we are on leads to the downfall of our nation, and they want real change, real reform. With their support on Election Day, I will bring their voice and their vote to our nation’s capital.”

Senator McGuire Introduces Bill to Cover Unborn Under Criminal and Civil Statutes

The following is an excerpt from her press release:

Senator Lesil McGuire has introduced SB 200, otherwise known as “ Jackson’s Law.”

Jackson’s Law will ensure that parents who lose their unborn children through the unlawful or negligent actions of another person have a path to justice.

This bill would add to the law passed in 2006 that established the unborn can be victims of murder, manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide in a criminal court and would allow for families to seek civil action in cases of wrongful death.

Alaska is one of only ten states that do not allow the parents of an unborn victim to seek accountability or damages from a guilty party!

Expanding Alaska’s wrongful death statutes will protect parents and provide a path toward healing for families that have experienced the loss of a child.

The bill is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow, March 12th in the Senate Judiciary meeting.

Dallas Seavey Pushes Through Windstorm to Win Iditarod (+video)

Photo Credit: AP Photo/The Anchorage Daily News, Bob HallinenNOME — Dallas Seavey came from behind to capture his second Iditarod championship in three years early Tuesday morning, mushing his team of seven dogs through a windstorm that knocked Jeff King out of the race and prompted Aliy Zirkle to hole up in Safety for more than two hours.

Seavey, 26, jogged beside his sled down Nome’s Front Street to help his dogs. At one point, he glanced over his shoulder, thinking his dad, defending champion Mitch Seavey, was gaining on him.

After crossing the finish line in record time at 4:04 a.m., Seavey sat on the back of his sled and leaned his head on his handlebar, exhausted.

“Dallas, did you think you could do this?” an Iditarod Insider videographer asked.

“What exactly did I do?”

“You just won the Iditarod, 2014.”

Bush Pilots Keep Alaska Moving

Photo Credit: Chip Porter/Getty Photo, Getty ImagesWithin moments of entering the plane, I smelled the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee. The java, however, wasn’t being brewed by a flight attendant in the galley, because neither existed on this four-seater floatplane. The coffee was cargo. More on that in a minute.

Through headsets that thankfully muted the engine noise, pilot Paul Norden’s voice crackled, “All right, we’re out of here.” The plane began to race across a runway of water at the Lake Hood Seaplane Base, the largest such airport in the world, an aquatic version of New York’s JFK. A few seconds later, the Cessna 206 was airborne.

In most any other American tourist destination, I’d typically grab a cab. But these planes are the “cabs” of the Alaskan wilderness — and the limos and the supply trucks and the ambulances and vehicles for anything else that needs moving over this gorgeous, unforgiving land.

As the Anchorage skyline quickly disappeared behind us, Norden pointed out myriad lakes and rivers as he headed northwest. Flying only 700 feet above the ground, it was easy to spot an occasional moose — once the pilot pointed it out.

Lindsey Graham Hopes ‘We Don’t Lose Alaska’

Photo Credit: Getty ImagesFirst Ukraine, then the Bering Strait?

Sen. Lindsey Graham joked Monday that the U.S. might need to watch out for Russian President Vladimir Putin on our own turf if things continue.

“I just hope we don’t lose Alaska. The more [President Barack] Obama talks to Putin the worse we do,” the South Carolina Republican cracked on “Kilmeade and Friends” on Fox News Radio.

Appearing on the show with his frequent partner in foreign policy, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Graham said the situation in Ukraine is a “defining moment” for Obama and he needs to rally Europe to stand up to Putin.
