TikTok Admits Its Chinese Staff Can Access User Data in Other Countries

Chinese-owned video app TikTok admitted that its staff in China has the ability to access the private accounts data in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

This comes after years of criticism from around the world, particularly in Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States over concerns that personal information could be passed on to the Chinese government.

The app is coming under intense scrutiny by government authorities in the West, as its parent company, ByteDance, repeatedly denies that it is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The social media company released a press statement on Nov. 2, stating that its “privacy policy” was “based on a demonstrated need to do their job.”

There Is Only One Way the Ukraine War Can End; Putin Issues Ominous Warning About Major Attack on Key Ukrainian City

How the Ukraine War Will End: In the heady days of September and October, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) won remarkable military victories over the Russian invaders, recapturing thousands of square miles of territory. Many in the West interpreted those successes as “irreversible” proof Kyiv was on its way to victory, and thus there was no need to consider a negotiated settlement with Moscow. The stark, cold realities of modern warfare, however, reveal that to the contrary, there is no end to the war in sight, and the most likely case remains – however unpopular in the Western world – a negotiated settlement.

The only question that remains: how many more Ukrainians must die before this harsh reality is grasped by the leaders of both warring parties?

There are a great many in the United States and the Western world that genuinely does believe Kyiv can win its war with Moscow and eventually drive all of Putin’s forces back to Russia. Last week Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his longstanding boast that his forces would “definitely liberate Crimea.” Former four-star U.S. general Ben Hodges predicted that by the end of this year, the UAF would “push Russian troops back to positions” they held prior to the start of the war and “by the middle of next year Ukrainians will be in Crimea.” . . .

I wrote last Spring that the combat fundamentals of war favored Russia over Ukraine, despite the fact they had recently been driven out of Kyiv and Kharkiv. Nothing in the intervening months have altered the strategic balance. Most wars throughout history swing back and forth, with each side winning some battles, rarely producing a steady trend towards a conclusive outcome.

The ultimate winners, however, are almost always determined by which side has the most fundamentals in its favor. Moreover, success in war usually turns on factors outside of the battlefield. Putin Issues Ominous Warning About Major Attack on Key Ukrainian City

By Newsweek. Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that civilians in Kherson must be “removed” from the city as a battle for it could be coming soon.

“Now, of course, those who live in Kherson must be removed from the zone of the most dangerous actions,” the Russian leader said, adding that citizens “must not suffer” from attacks in the city, according to The Moscow Times.

Putin’s comments come as Russian troops have reportedly abandoned checkpoints in the occupied Ukrainian region of Kherson in recent days. In addition, Russian flags have been removed from the administration building in Kherson, as well as a city council building, according to reports.

Hispanics Abandon Democrats: ‘The Party Doesn’t Care About Us’

Hispanic Americans, gravitating to the nationalist-populist wing of the Republican Party, are turning on Democrats over the top issues in this year’s midterm elections: Crime, inflation, immigration, and a corporate-backed woke social agenda.

Tim Alberta for The Atlantic traveled across Arizona, Florida, and Texas to find that Hispanics who had been voting for Democrats for decades have since turned on the party as it moves toward an economic and social agenda embraced by white college-educated Americans.

The move, as The Atlantic details, is coalescing working and middle class Hispanics into the fold with white non-college-educated Americans to shape the GOP base.

In 2016, former President Trump won about 62 percent of white working class voters — more than any other Republican dating back to 1980. Still, as of 2016, there were 44 million white working class voters who were not registered to vote.

Turning out just 10 percent more of those non-registered white working class voters, coupled with a growing number of Hispanic Americans moving towards Republicans, could amount to a red wall that would be devastating for Democrats nationwide. U.S., Netherlands to Give Ukraine Refurbished Soviet-Era Tanks

The U.S. is teaming up with the Netherlands to upgrade 90 Soviet-era tanks that will be shipped to Ukraine with new armor, optics and communications gear. Dutch defense officials told reporters some of the tanks could arrive in the country as early as next month.

U.S. officials confirmed the deal for the Czech T-72 tanks Friday at the Pentagon. It’s part of a new $400 million security assistance package for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance initiative. Unlike the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program, which draws military supplies from U.S. stocks, the USAI works with the defense industry to provide the firepower. Democrats Plot Nancy Pelosi’s Replacement in ‘Secret Meeting’: Report

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the No. 5 House Democrat, is reportedly a top candidate to replace Nancy Pelosi as the leader of House Democrats. . .

Jeffries reportedly met with House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) in a “secret meeting” on Sept. 1 while Congress was on recess, Politico reported. At that meeting, Jeffries likely secured Clyburn’s support to become the next leader of House Democrats.

The 52-year-old New York Democrat purportedly summoned Clyburn after hearing that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is also privately vying for the position.

The 52-year-old Jeffries was concerned enough that he offered to fly to South Carolina to seek the counsel of the 82-year-old Clyburn. The younger lawmaker wanted to gently make sure his elder in the Congressional Black Caucus knew of Schiff’s quiet campaign — and to even more gently warn Clyburn about the risk of splitting votes between them and opening a path for the ambitious Californian.

Cancer Breakthrough: This Fruit Found to Significantly Fuel Tumor-Fighting Immune Cells

A new study shows that a substance found in pomegranates significantly boosts the immune system to fight cancer—triggering a constant supply of endless rejuvenated T cells.

German scientists studying therapies for colorectal cancer discovered that a metabolite in the red fruit, known as urolithin-A, rejuvenates immune T cells to make them better at fighting tumors. . .

A team in Frankfurt led by Professor Florian Greten is now closer to solving the problem. Their discovery shows that urolithin A recycles and renews mitochondria—the so-called power plants inside T cells—through a process known as mitophagy.

When the pomegranate agent is introduced, old and damaged mitochondria in the T cells are removed and replaced by new, functional ones. This changes the genetic make up of the T cells, which are then more capable of fighting the tumor.

“Our findings are particularly exciting because the focus is not on the tumor cell but on the immune system—the natural defense against cancer,” said Dr. Dominic Denk of the Frankfurt University Hospital and first author of the study. Laid-off Twitter Employees Reveal Their Fates: ‘8 Months Pregnant’

Elon Musk-led Twitter began a long-dreaded and drastic round of layoffs on Friday — and numerous workers took to the social media site to confirm they were caught in the bloodbath.

Company officials began informing laid-off employees about their fate via an email message on Friday morning as Musk scrambles to cut costs at the struggling firm.

Roughly half of Twitter’s 7,500 employees were expected to lose their jobs during the culling — with some workers claiming they had lost access to systems overnight.

“Looks like I’m unemployed y’all. Just got remotely logged out of my work laptop and removed from Slack,” tweeted Simon Balmain, a former senior community manager at Twitter. “#OneTeam forever. Loved you all so much. So sad it had to end this way.”

Former Japanese Navy Commander Calls on Canada and West to Prepare for Chinese Invasion of Taiwan

China is likely to invade Taiwan within five years unless Canada and other Western allies band together to send tough economic and military warnings to Beijing, says the former naval commander of Japan’s Maritime Self Defence Force.

Retired vice-admiral Toshiyuki Ito told The Globe and Mail that he believes President Xi Jinping is determined to gain control of self-governing Taiwan, and he will use the full might of China’s military to do so.

“Within five years, he will do something. He will use force,” Mr. Ito said in an interview Wednesday that was arranged by the Japanese embassy in Ottawa.

He said the democratic world needs to prepare for a Chinese invasion and to use the threat of economic sanctions and military readiness to ward off Beijing, saying he doesn’t want to see Taiwan turn into another Hong Kong. In 2020, China imposed a national-security law on Hong Kong that has effectively criminalized dissent or free speech.

Mr. Ito said he would like to see the Royal Canadian Navy continue military exercises in the Indo-Pacific region and even join an informal four-country defense and security alliance involving the U.S., Japan, Australia and India. Coast Guard Offering ‘Unheard Of’ Signing Perks as Recruitment Plummets

The U.S. Coast Guard is offering up to $50,000 signing bonuses in an effort to bolster recruitment, after the number of guardsmen has plummeted, in large part due to the military’s strict COVID-19 vaccination mandate.

According to internal USCG documents obtained by Fox News Digital from October detailing fiscal year 2023 workforce planning, “Culinary Specialist,” or “CS,” level recruits could receive bonuses up to $50,000 each.

Active-duty Coast Guard Lt. Chad Coppin called the $50,000 CS-level bonuses, which would involve positions such as cooks, “absolutely unheard of.”

Coppin, who is stationed in Juneau, Alaska, and is seeking religious accommodation to the vaccine mandate, told Fox News Digital that the military is suffering from low recruitment and retainment, in large part due to its own restrictive policies, including the vax requirement.

“This means the USCG response to future disasters like Hurricane Ian will suffer, and lives will be lost due to lack of personnel, a readiness issue that the USCG is voluntarily compounding… overall, the USCG is short over 2,700 members,” Coppin said. Krazy Kat Denies Crime’s a Problem in NY — But Hillary Clinton Lets the Truth Slip

Hillary Clinton and Krazy Kat Hochul need to get on the same page concerning crime.

Is it real, as Clinton seems to believe? Or is it, as Hochul has contended, an overblown campaign distraction — promoted by “master manipulators” and “data deniers” to derail her bid to become New York’s first elected female governor?

It was one of those late-campaign events where the hype is thick, where the rhetoric is hyperbolic and where the facts don’t really matter. How very odd, then, that Hillary let the truth peek through.

“They don’t care about keeping you safe,” she said — they being GOP candidate Lee Zeldin and his party mates. “They want to keep you scared.”
