Feds May Have ‘Sufficient Evidence’ to Charge Hunter Biden

According to fresh reporting in The Washington Post on Thursday, federal investigators “believe” they have “sufficient evidence to charge” President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden with crimes related to his taxes and falsifying information related to a gun purchase. Citing “people familiar with the case,” WaPo says the “next step is for the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, a Trump administration holdover, to decide on whether to file such charges.”

As Townhall has previously reported, Hunter Biden’s taxes have been the subject of significant scrutiny since the president’s son discovered his finances were being investigated in December 2020. At the time, then-President-Elect Biden characterized the situation as “vicious personal attacks.” Not quite.

When he was made aware of the investigation into his finances, Hunter Biden said he was taking the matter “very seriously” but maintained his confidence “that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.” Apparently that hasn’t been the case.

It turns out that Hunter Biden’s taxes were the subject of an inquiry even before the end of 2020, but the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, David Weiss, heeded advice from investigators to delay action in the federal probe “to avoid taking any actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election,” as Townhall reported. Disturbing: Puberty Blocking Drug Companies Refuse to Conduct Safety Trials

Manufacturers that dominate the U.S. market for puberty blockers refuse to conduct safety trials on their frequently prescribed off-label use to treat gender dysphoria in adolescents. Endo International plc and AbbVie Inc have repeatedly declined to conduct safety tests on the puberty blocking drug Lupron, according to a new report by Reuters.

Left-wing news outlet Reuters published data on Thursday about the rising number of children and adolescents adopting a transgender identity and seeking medical interventions. Among the shocking revelations is that between 2017 to 2021, 17,683 of the 121,882 children ages 6 to 17 diagnosed with gender dysphoria received puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones. Despite such widespread adoption for the drug’s off-label use, the drug’s manufacturers refuse to conduct safety trials for their use in treating gender dysphoria in adolescents.

Dr Brad Miller, division director of pediatric endocrinology at the University of Minnesota Medical School and M Health Masonic Children’s Hospital, and “several other doctors,” told Reuters they had “repeatedly asked” AbbVie, Endo, and other manufacturers of puberty blockers to seek FDA approval for the drugs in treating gender dysphoria in children and to conduct clinical trials to establish their safety. “They said the companies always declined,” reported Reuters.

Biden Issues Over 300K Smartphones With Tracking Devices to Illegal Aliens

More than 300,000 smartphones used to monitor illegal immigrants were given to noncitizens by the Biden administration last month, according to data collected by Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse.

Issuing such cellular devices to illegal immigrants is part of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement program called the Alternatives to Detention, which essentially gives the individuals access to U.S. soil before their court dates.

The smartphones, which cost taxpayers $361,218.08 per day, use facial recognition, GPS monitoring, and voice identification, according to ICE.

Jon Feere, former DHS senior adviser and director of investigations at the Center for Immigration Studies, told the Free Beacon last month that the ATD program has already proven to be a “costly failure,” noting that thousands of illegal immigrants have disappeared annually. Looming Questions in FBI’s Raid of Pro-Life Father Prove America’s Distrust in FBI

New documents reveal missing holes in the FBI’s case against a pro-life, conservative father whose Pennsylvania home was raided. . .

However, the documents show holes in the charges against the father of seven.

One of them is the decision to raid Houck’s home, even after his attorney sent a letter to Assistant U.S. Attorney Anita Eve that if the government did move forward with a case against Houck, his attorney would accept a summons on his client’s behalf so that Houck and his family would not need to go through needless disruption.

However, it wasn’t until after the raid did Houck and his attorney received a response.

“When the defendant has a lawyer, a respected former federal prosecutor, offering to bring the deferment wherever the US attorney’s office would like him presented there is no reason to send one agent, much less 20… the question is why there were a bunch of people with long guns, ballistic shields and body armor outside this peaceful person’s home to effect an arrest warrant that was utterly unnecessary and put the Houck family in danger,” Houck’s attorney, Peter Breen said. Biden to Pardon All Federal Convictions for Marijuana Possession

President Biden will pardon everyone convicted on federal charges of simple marijuana possession, the White House announced Thursday, saying he intended to repair America’s “failed approach” to the drug.

The president also was expected to call on governors to pardon state-level convictions in a recorded video statement later Thursday.

“As I said when I ran for president, no one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana,” Mr. Biden said in a statement. “Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana. It’s time that we right these wrongs.”

The marijuana pardon, announced just a month before the Nov. 8 midterm elections, delivers a gift to the Democrats’ liberal base that has clamored for legalizing weed at the federal level and has been disappointed by the party’s failure to deliver on overhauling policing laws.

Air Force One Logs: Joe Biden Campaigns Less for Midterm Candidates Than Trump, Obama

By Breitbart. President Joe Biden has thrown his political weight behind Democrat midterm candidates in 2022 less than former Presidents Trump and Barack Obama did in 2018 and 2010, Air Force One logs show.

Biden’s political calculation to remain in Washington, DC, and not fly around the nation to bolster support for House and Senate candidates is notable because multiple Democrat candidates appear willing to go without the president’s ability to drive campaign fundraising and local media attention.

With just five weeks until election day, the Democrat Party likely perceives Biden as more of a political liability than an asset. Under Biden’s leadership, the southern border has remained open, gas prices have spiked, and inflation has soared. Biden’s record has negatively impacted the Democrats’ chances of maintaining control of the House and Senate.

As a result, Biden has only traveled to 46 cities and held 11 fundraisers, according to an Axios report on Air Force One logs. The numbers pale compared to the former presidents’ movements during the 2010 and 2018 midterms. Obama visited 78 cities and held 16 fundraisers, while Trump visited 57 cities and held 27 fundraisers, the report found. Top National School Psychologist Part of Group Offering to Resettle Gay Kids With New, ‘Queer Friendly’ Parents

A top leader in a national school psychologists’ association is participating in a group that funds efforts to rehome gay youth to new parents, internal materials obtained by The Daily Wire reveal.

Amy Cannava, chair of the National Association Of School Psychologists’ (NASP) LGBTQI2-S Committee, participated in discussions on the internal message board for the Pride Liberation Project (PLP). The group’s “Resources For Outed Students” section advised “students who are facing familial rejection or need to leave their home for another reason” to “[r]each out to Amy (she/her) immediately. They work with Safe Space NOVA, are an adult, and can provide you with much more information. They are also confidential.”

The section went on to say that PLP could rehome students who did not like their parents, as well as pay them money and have an adult pick them up to take them to their new lives. It also said the group could provide false documentation to hide children’s whereabouts while they participated in gay activities. “In the event of you needing to leave your home, we can provide you with emergency housing from a supportive, Queer friendly adult,” it said. It added: “We will work with other supportive adult organizations in the region to find you someone who can provide you a kind and affirming home.”

PLP was the subject of glowing national media attention September 27 when it claimed that it got 12,000 students to walk out of class to protest draft guidance from Virginia’s Department of Education that said schools should not hide a student’s gender transition for parents, and that schools should accommodate a student’s gender transition, but do so only with the permission of parents. US Buying Hundreds of Millions of Dollars of Drug to Treat Radiation Sickness

As part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is purchasing a supply of the drug Nplate from Amgen USA Inc; Nplate is approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients (ARS).

Amgen, based in Thousands Oaks, California, developed Nplate for ARS with support from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), as well as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.

BARDA is using its authority provided under the 2004 Project Bioshield Act and $290 million in Project BioShield designated funding to purchase this supply of the drug. Amgen will maintain this supply in vendor-managed inventory. This approach decreases life-cycle management costs for taxpayers because doses that near expiration can be rotated into the commercial market for rapid use prior to expiry and new doses can be added to the government supply.

ARS, also known as radiation sickness, occurs when a person’s entire body is exposed to a high dose of penetrating radiation, reaching internal organs in a matter of seconds. Symptoms of ARS injuries include impaired blood clotting as a result of low platelet counts, which can lead to uncontrolled and life-threatening bleeding.

To reduce radiation-induced bleeding, Nplate stimulates the body’s production of platelets. The drug can be used to treat adults and children.

Nplate is also approved for adult and pediatric patients with immune thrombocytopenia, a blood disorder resulting in low platelet counts. Repurposing drugs for acute radiation syndrome that also are approved for a commercial indication helps to sustain availability of the product and improves healthcare provider familiarity with the drug.

Federal Agents Uncover Thousands of ‘Rainbow’ Fentanyl Pills Stashed in Lego Boxes

A New Jersey woman was arrested this week after federal agents and New York City police officers found fentanyl packaged like candy and stored in LEGO boxes in her car.

The woman, Letitia Bush, was arrested on Sept. 28 when agents and police officers stopped her vehicle in the Lincoln Tunnel. The vehicle allegedly contained 15,000 “multicolored” pills and had an estimated street value of $300,000, according to WPVI.

Reportedly, Bush was in the backseat of the vehicle when police and agents showed up. She had two black tote bags and a yellow LEGO container. Inside the LEGO container were “brick shaped” packages covered in black tape next to LEGO blocks. Inside the black-taped packages contained the “rainbow” fentanyl pills, which were reportedly imprinted with “30 M” to resemble 30mg oxycodone hydrochloride pills.

New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan warned that the pills “look like candy” and began showing up on the West Coast earlier this year.

Frank Tarentino, the special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Division said that the pills are similar-looking to “party drugs” and are “everywhere.”

US Officials Say Ukraine Behind Car Bomb Assassination of Putin Ally’s Daughter: Report

By New York Post. US intelligence believes parts of the Ukrainian government gave the go-ahead for a car bomb that killed the daughter of a staunch Putin ally in August, according to a report Wednesday.

Kyiv has unequivocally denied any involvement in the blast that killed Darya Dugina, 29, in front of her father, Putin loyalist and Russian ultranationalist Aleksandr Dugin, both after the blast and in response to the report by the New York Times.

But multiple sources, speaking to the outlet on condition of anonymity, said that the US intelligence community believes parts of the Ukrainian government were complicit in the attack. The sources said Washington admonished Kyiv for the assassination. . .

At the time of the attack, Kyiv denied any involvement.

U.S. Believes Ukrainians Were Behind an Assassination in Russia

United States intelligence agencies believe parts of the Ukrainian government authorized the car bomb attack near Moscow in August that killed Daria Dugina, the daughter of a prominent Russian nationalist, an element of a covert campaign that U.S. officials fear could widen the conflict. . .

The closely held assessment of Ukrainian complicity, which has not been previously reported, was shared within the U.S. government last week. Ukraine denied involvement in the killing immediately after the attack, and senior officials repeated those denials when asked about the American intelligence assessment.

While Russia has not retaliated in a specific way for the assassination, the United States is concerned that such attacks — while high in symbolic value — have little direct impact on the battlefield and could provoke Moscow to carry out its own strikes against senior Ukrainian officials. American officials have been frustrated with Ukraine’s lack of transparency about its military and covert plans, especially on Russian soil.

Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine’s security services have demonstrated their ability to reach into Russia to conduct sabotage operations. The killing of Ms. Dugina, however, would be one of the boldest operations to date — showing Ukraine can get very close to prominent Russians.

Some American officials suspect Ms. Dugina’s father, Aleksandr Dugin, a Russian ultranationalist, was the actual target of the operation, and that the operatives who carried it out believed he would be in the vehicle with his daughter.
