China Mocks Nancy Pelosi for Contracting Coronavirus

Chinese state media on Friday gleefully mocked U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for contracting the Wuhan coronavirus, snidely informing Pelosi that she should abandon any plans to visit Taiwan lest she infect the island.

The state-run Global Times approvingly quoted a hashtag on Weibo, China’s heavily-censored version of banned Twitter, that sarcastically advised Pelosi to talk to a doctor about her infection instead of talking to Taiwanese “secessionists”:

The development received high attention on social media, with netizens urging Pelosi to abandon any dangerous plans. “Get well soon, but forget about a Taiwan visit. You won’t want to see the consequences,” said a Weibo user.

”She not only needs to overcome [Chinese coronavirus], but should also seek treatment for the ‘messing up the world’ disease. Many US politicians should see a doctor for that,” another net user said on Sina Weibo.

“Since the US has removed most epidemic restrictions, I bet Omicron is nothing to worry about. The biggest problem is hegemonic mentality embedded in her, and many others’ minds,” said another.

Mad Grandpa: Biden Complains of ‘Vile’ Republican Questions of Ketanji Brown Jackson

President Joe Biden on Friday unleashed criticism against Senate Republicans for asking tough questions about his Supreme Court Justice’s judicial record during her confirmation hearings.

The president said he knew that his Supreme Court nominee would be put through a “painful and difficult” confirmation process, but what he saw from Republican senators was worse than he had expected. . .

“What Judge Jackson was put through was well beyond that,” Biden said angrily. “It was verbal abuse. The anger. The constant interruptions, the most vile, baseless assertions and accusations.”

Biden was referring to Republican questions, such as those from Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), of Jackson’s judicial record, including her choice to reduce sentences for convicts guilty of child pornography. . .

Biden criticized the hearings for Jackson despite his own record of presiding over Senate hearings smearing Justice Clarence Thomas with accusations of sexual assault in his 1991 confirmation hearings.

Sarah Palin Revives Comment She Can ‘See Russia’ From Alaska

Sarah Palin, the former Republican governor of Alaska, is reminding voters that you “can see Russia” from her home state—reviving a remark that drew mockery when she unsuccessfully campaigned as former GOP Presidential candidate Senator John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008. . .

Speaking on former Trump White House official Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast on Thursday, Palin complained about the situation at the southern border and then referred to Alaska’s proximity to Russia.

“When you’re talking about what’s going on at the border—the non-existent border,” Palin said, “that reminds me how important it is, that all Alaskans realize it. Now Alaska is strategically located on the globe—as you know—you don’t laugh about the fact that you can see Russia from Alaska, and Canada is right there on our other side.”

Palin touted the “strategic location and the security we [Alaskans] can provide.” The GOP congressional candidate lamented that “those in Washington” take Alaska for granted. (Read more from “Sarah Palin Revives Comment She Can ‘See Russia’ From Alaska” HERE)

Senate Confirms Ketanji Brown Jackson as First Black Woman on Supreme Court; Murkowski, Collins and Romney Confirm Radical Judge; Do New Alaska Voting Rules Explain Murkowski ‘Yes’ Vote?

By New York Post. The Senate officially confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court Thursday, making her the first black woman and first former federal public defender to be elevated to the nation’s highest court.

Three Republican senators — Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah — voted with all 50 Democrats to confirm President Biden’s nomination of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals judge. Vice President Kamala Harris presided over the vote, which was held up for several minutes to allow Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to cast a “no” vote.

Sen. Lindsey Graham announced his “no” vote from the cloakroom of the chamber, according to multiple reports, as he did not wear a tie and was not allowed on the Senate floor.

“On this vote, the ‘yeas’ are 53, the ‘nays’ are 47, and this nomination is confirmed,” Harris announced with a large smile after the final vote was cast.

Democrats on the Senate floor greeted the veep’s announcement with a standing ovation, which was joined on the GOP side only by Romney. (Read more from “Senate Confirms Ketanji Brown Jackson as First Black Woman on Supreme Court” HERE)

New Alaska Voting Rules Explain Murkowski ‘Yes’ Vote for Biden Supreme Court Pick

By Washington Examiner. Up for reelection this year in a red state and facing formidable competition for renomination by a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump, Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski has no business voting to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

But that is what Alaska has wrought with a new system for electing candidates to state and federal office that eliminated closed-party primaries and head-to-head general elections featuring Democratic nominees in favor of all-party primaries and four-candidate general elections decided by ranked-choice voting.

So, rather than Murkowski having to guard her Right flank against Republican challenger Kelly Tshibaka, in a state that delivered 53% of its vote to Trump in 2020, she can prosecute a general election strategy from the outset to capitalize on strong bipartisan support cultivated in Alaska over 20 years.

In announcing support for President Joe Biden’s nominee to succeed retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, Murkowski conceded she has not “and will not agree with all of Judge Jackson’s decisions and opinions.” But tellingly, the senator framed her confirmation vote as “my rejection of the corrosive politicization of the review process for Supreme Court nominees, which … on both sides of the aisle, is growing worse and more detached from reality by the year.”

Study: US Life Expectancy Continues Historic Decline With Another Drop in 2021

Life expectancy in the United States took another hit in 2021, furthering a dramatic decline from 2020 that was the largest since World War II, according to a new report.

The study — published Thursday on the preprint server medRxiv, which means it has not been peer-reviewed — found that after falling nearly 1.9 years in 2020, life expectancy in the US decreased another 0.4 years in 2021.

In the decade before the pandemic, life expectancy in the US changed by an average of less than 0.1 years annually, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. . .

Life expectancy in the US fell from 78.9 years in 2019 to 76.6 years in 2021 — now more than five years less than the average among peer nations. (Read more from “Study: US Life Expectancy Continues Historic Decline With Another Drop in 2021” HERE)

A Chicago Church Is ‘Fasting From Whiteness’ for Lent

Not even the Catholic Church, or any religion, is safe from the woke virus. You all knew this. I’m not saying anything new. It just carries a more ‘in your face’ attitude. It’s Lent for scores of Christians around the world. I was raised Catholic but have since strayed admittedly. It wasn’t over the scandals, though those are heinous. I’m just a person who really wasn’t born with deep faith. It’s a defect of mine, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the important role religion has played in our society from the abolition of slavery to helping the inner-city poor.

Sunday mass is a place to give thanks and atone for sins. It’s not a place to spread woke nonsense. One church in Chicago, they’re fasting from whiteness for Lent. I have no idea what that means, but I’m pretty sure you’d have to stretch pages to their extreme points to find a place for it in catechism.

Republican Registrations Surge in Key State in Warning Sign For Democrats

Republicans are registering formerly Democratic voters at four times the rate that Democrats are making the reverse conversion in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, a warning sign for Democrats as they try to keep control of the U.S. Congress.

The Republican gains in Pennsylvania, home to a critical U.S. Senate race, follow a pattern seen in other states that could have competitive contests in November’s elections, as high levels of disapproval with President Joe Biden’s handling of his job are helping narrow the long-held advantage held by Democrats in numbers of registered voters. read more

“I just got fed up and just felt like there has to be a better way,” said Beth Jones, 48, a retired Philadelphia police officer who last month registered as a Republican, ending her three-decade affiliation with the Democratic Party.

Similar to other recent converts interviewed by Reuters, Jones cited concerns about inflation and violent crime in making the switch.

Reuters examined registration data in six states that could see tight U.S. Senate races in November and which generally require voters to be members of a party to participate in nominating contests. While each state tracks voter registration differently, the review pointed to Republican gains in four of those states, and no substantial difference in two of them. Keep On Truckin’: Walmart Offers $110,000 to New Drivers Amid Shortage

Walmart workers who once unloaded trucks now have a chance to drive them.

The nation’s largest retailer has launched a training program that gives employees who work in its distribution or fulfillment centers a chance to become certified Walmart truck drivers through a 12-week program taught by the company’s established drivers.

Walmart, based in Bentonville, Ark., also said it is raising pay for its 12,000 truck drivers. The starting range for new drivers will now between $95,000 and $110,000, according to Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield. The retailer said that $87,500 had been the average that new truck drivers could make in their first year. Trump’s CDC Director Was Reportedly Sidelined By Fauci After Urging Him To Investigate Lab Leak

Former director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Robert Redfield was reportedly sidelined from discussions about the coronavirus pandemic after he warned Dr. Anthony Fauci that COVID-19 may have originated from a lab, according to a Vanity Fair investigation.

Redfield, a virologist who headed the CDC between 2018 and 2021, urged Fauci to “vigorously investigate” not only a possible natural origin of COVID-19, but the possibility that it had originated in the Wuhan Institute Virology (WIV) and was accidentally released, according to Vanity Fair. Redfield said from that point forward, he was excluded from discussions about the origin of the virus.

“Their goal was to have a single narrative,” he told Vanity Fair. He said he hadn’t even been aware that there were further discussions about the origin of the virus until after they occurred. Weirdos Who Want to Sexualize Your Children Should Absolutely Be Stigmatized as Groomers

What does it say about the pathetic state of the political right that instead of spending our energy advancing the ideas and institutions that promote human flourishing, we’re quibbling over whether “groomers” is the right word to refer to people who delight in sexualizing other people’s kids and hiding it from their parents?

The ranks of progressives and unmistakably pro-LGBT media — who spend their days throwing around insulting hyperbole like “Nazi,” “fascist,” and “silence is violence” — are being joined by so-called conservatives who’ve taken it upon themselves to lecture those to the right of them that ackshuuully it’s not appropriate to call the kids’ entertainment creators and state-sanctioned educators who insist on sexually indoctrinating 5-year-olds “groomers.”

It’s absolutely absurd. Conservatives aren’t abandoning their principles by abandoning needless throat-clearing about teachers’ alleged good faith and the left’s intentions.

We all know the left’s intentions because they’ve made them perfectly clear. The most recent go-around started with them maliciously branding a bill protecting parents’ rights — which are an absolutely necessity for societal survival — as a bill that banned mention of the word “gay” in schools. It was a lie; the legislation seeks to keep leftist dogmas about gender identity and sexual orientation away from 5-9-year-old kids.

When the left lost and the bill got signed into law, furious executives at Florida-based Disney began ranting about their quests to inject sexual deviancy into children’s entertainment. (Read more from “Weirdos Who Want to Sexualize Your Children Should Absolutely Be Stigmatized as Groomers” HERE)
