President Biden threw his weight Thursday behind a push to add a major amnesty for illegal immigrants into Democrats’ budget proposal, delivering presidential heft to the effort.

“I think we should include in the reconciliation bill the immigration proposal,” the president told reporters after meeting with Senate Democrats on immigration.

Reconciliation is the process that allows budget-related programs to be passed without having to survive a filibuster. But there are also significant restrictions on what kinds of things can be done through reconciliation.

China, Russia to Train Against Terror as Last U.S. Troops Exit Afghanistan

China is set to host Russia for mass drills together involving counterterrorism training next month just as the last of the U.S. soldiers are set to exit Afghanistan.

The Chinese Defense Ministry and Russian Defense Ministry issued a joint statement Thursday stating that the Western Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will join troops from Russia’s Eastern Military District for a large-scale exercise called West-Interaction 2021, which will be held in early and mid-August in the city of Qingtongxia, which lies along the Yellow River in China’s northern Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The two militaries are set to establish a joint command center overseeing the activities of some 10,000 troops along with various aircraft, artillery and armored equipment. The plan is to mix personnel from both sides for enhanced interoperability for the combined maneuvers involving an array of objectives.

CDC Reverses Mask Guidelines for Vaccinated; Netflix Mandates Vaccine; Governor Signs Law Banning Vaccine Mandates

By NBC New York. States and businesses scrambled Wednesday to change course after the federal government issued new guidance calling for the return of mask wearing in virus hot spots amid a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations nationwide.

Nevada and Kansas City were among the locations that moved swiftly to re-impose indoor mask mandates following Tuesday’s announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The guidelines also call on all schools to require masks for students, teachers and visitors, and districts around the country tried to navigate the latest advice.

In a handful of Republican-led states, lawmakers have made it illegal for schools to require masks. South Carolina’s governor said the state would not reverse its mask restriction, but Arkansas leaders are weighing whether to revisit an April law banning local and state government entities from requiring masks. Netflix to Require COVID Vaccinations for Actors & Other “Zone A” Personnel on Its U.S. Productions

By Deadline. Netflix has become the first major Hollywood studio to implement a blanket policy mandating vaccinations for the casts of all of its U.S. productions, as well as those who come into contact with them on set.

I hear the streamer just informed its production teams and partners that it will be requiring vaccinations for everyone working in “Zone A,” which consists of the actors and those who come in close proximity to them.

Republican Governor Signs ‘Medical Freedom’ Law Preventing COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates

By Washington Examiner. New Hampshire residents will not be forced to receive a coronavirus vaccination despite other states and businesses requiring one.

“Every person has the natural, essential, and inherent right to bodily integrity, free from any threat or compulsion by the government to accept an immunization,” according to a new bill that Republican Gov. Chris Sununu signed into law this week.

The “medical freedom” law came to fruition as some neighboring states look to boost vaccination rates via vaccine mandates. Some public businesses across the country, including larger entities such as the NFL, are also requiring their workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Pfizer Pushing Third Shot

Pfizer/BioNTech data released Wednesday suggests a third dose of the vaccine “strongly boosts” protection against the coronavirus delta variant.

The data, which the company is expected to discuss in an earnings call on Wednesday, claims a third shot of the Pfizer vaccine can “boost” protection against the virus variant.

“COVID-19 Vaccine: 3rd Dose Strongly Boosts Neutralizing Titers Against Delta Strain1,2,” page 27 of the slide presentation reads. It goes on to suggest that the antibody levels against the delta variant are greater than five-fold for those ages 18 to 55 after a third shot, and it is more than 11-fold for individuals ages 65 to 85. . .

This is far from the first time a third shot has been put into the conversation. In February, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said fully vaccinated individuals — those who received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine — would likely need another shot. (Read more from “Pfizer Pushing Third Shot” HERE)

Biden Forbids Immigration Judges From Using the Term ‘Alien’

Federal immigration judges may no longer use the word “alien” in their legal opinions, according to a Department of Justice directive.

Citing an immigration order from President Joe Biden, senior DOJ official Jean King instructed the nation’s 539 immigration judges to “use language that is consistent with our character as a nation of opportunity and of welcome.” The July 23 memo forbids employees in the Executive Office for Immigration Review from using “‘alien’ or ‘illegal alien’ to describe migrants.”

King suggests judges use “respondent, applicant, petitioner, beneficiary, migrant, noncitizen, or non-U.S. citizen,” as a replacement when writing opinions. Instead of “undocumented alien” or “illegal alien,” judges should use “undocumented noncitizen, undocumented non-U.S. citizen, or undocumented individual,” the document says.

The Immigration and Nationality Act describes an “alien” as “any person not a citizen or national of the United States.” A variety of federal laws and regulations use the term “alien” to describe individuals who can be removed from the United States, in contrast to mere nationals, who may be American citizens or residents of territories such as American Samoa. Homosexual Clinton Donor Found Guilty in Fatal Drugs-for-Sex Cases

Ed Buck, a wealthy political activist and leading Democratic party donor, was found guilty Tuesday on charges he injected gay men with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to two deaths and other overdoses. . .

The verdict came exactly four years after one of the victims was found dead of an overdose in the West Hollywood activist’s apartment.

The jury deliberated for more than four hours after a two-week trial. Prosecutors said Buck paid men he contacted on gay dating sites and provided drugs in return for various sex acts.

The 66-year-old Buck had pleaded not guilty. His defense lawyers, one of whom was a prosecutor in the OJ Simpson case, said neither fatal overdose victim died from meth and many of the alleged victims were drug addicts. . .

Buck, who had given more than $500,000 in campaign contributions to failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and Reps. Adam Schiff and Ted Lieu (D-CA). and causes since 2000, was also convicted of four counts of meth distribution, one count of keeping a drug den and two more counts of enticement to cross state lines for prostitution. House Republicans GO OFF, Revolt Over Pelosi’s New Mask Mandate (VIDEO)

Republican lawmakers on Wednesday protested against the House floor mask mandate being reinstituted the previous evening, with several members of the minority party refusing to wear a face covering and Texas Rep. Chip Roy using a legislative delay tactic to show discontent.

“I can’t execute my constitutional duty unless I wear a mask. Well, which is it? Vaccines or masks? The vaccines work or they don’t work. Do the masks work, or they don’t work?” Roy said in an impassioned speech on the House floor Wednesday referencing Dr. Anthony Fauci, a Biden administration COVID-19 point man. “I’d like to know which it is. I’d like Dr. Fauci to come down and answer a single question about natural immunity.”

Following updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance that recommends vaccinated people should wear masks in some situations, the Congress’s attending physician brought back the requirement that lawmakers wear masks on the House floor. Members who refuse risk fines being taken out of their congressional salaries because of a rule adopted in January, with $500 for a first offense of not wearing a mask and $2,500 for a second offense.

In a display of civil disobedience, a number of members opted to risk the fine and declined to wear a mask, even when offered one by a staff member walking around the floor who offered disposable masks and wrote on a notepad after interactions with those who refused.

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert reportedly threw a mask back at a staff member when asked to put one on. Other Republicans who declined to wear masks, in addition to Roy, included Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Mary Miller of Illinois, and Burgess Owens of Utah.

Hilarious: Only Two People Cited by TSA for Mask Violations Have Agreed to Pay Fine

Only two people have agreed to pay fines to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) among more than 2,400 incidents of noncompliance since a federal mask mandate took effect this year, according to new data provided to The Hill.

TSA said it has received referrals concerning 2,413 incidents of possible noncompliance and has completed investigations into 1,793 incidents.

The agency issued more than 1,690 warning notices and referred 38 matters for civil penalties. Only two individuals did not challenge their fines of $250 each, TSA said in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The eye-opening figures come amid an uproar over the federal mask mandate for transportation that has been linked to numerous reports of scuffles and obnoxious behavior by airplane passengers.

“One explanation could be that the people who already violated it to start with are people who feel very strongly to begin with and don’t think the federal government could even mandate something like that. They do it partially as a protest, so it’s not surprising they haven’t paid the fine,” said Retsef Levi, professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management specializing in risk management and analytics. Pentagon Requires Masks Indoors Despite Vaccination Status

The US military has fallen in line with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations about mask-wearing.

The Pentagon announced Wednesday that service members, civilian workers, contractors and visitors must wear masks indoors at military installations and other facilities “owned, leased or otherwise controlled” by the Defense Department in areas where COVID-19 transmission is “substantial” or “high.”

The memo from Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks also requires those who are not fully vaccinated to practice social distancing.

The Pentagon directive follows Tuesday’s CDC recommendation of indoor mask mandates in jurisdictions with at least 50 confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people over the previous seven days.

According to the CDC’s own data, approximately two-thirds of America’s counties are experiencing “substantial” or “high” levels of transmission. Nearly half of all US counties fall into the latter category, defined as at least 100 cases per 100,000 people over the past seven days. Biden’s gaffe was immediately picked up on social media including by a Twitter account associated with the Republican National Committee.

Biden Raises Eyebrows With Claim He ‘Used to Drive’ 18-Wheeler Truck

By Fox News. Forty-eight-year political veteran President Biden raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he claimed to have driven an 18-wheeler truck — a claim the White House struggled to defend.

Biden was visiting a Mack Truck facility in Pennsylvania when he made the claim to have driven the massive trucks before, which require a special kind of license.

“I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man,” Biden said on Wednesday in a video posted to Twitter. “I got to.”

There is scant evidence that Biden has ever driven an 18-wheeler truck.

When asked if the president had ever driven such a truck, a White House spokesperson pointed to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal that showed Biden rode in an 18-wheeler on a 536-mile haul to Ohio.
