By WND. Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon sees a brand-new path for his former boss Donald Trump to return to the White House in 2024 – after a two-year stint as speaker of the House.

“Trump is a disrupter, but he has a long-term vision because I absolutely believe in the marrow of my bones that he will be our nominee in 2024,” Bannon told a group of Boston Republicans at a Lincoln Day Breakfast on Saturday.

“He’ll come back to us. We’ll have a sweeping victory in 2022, and he’ll lead us in 2024,” he said, according to the Boston Herald.

Bannon suggested Trump could run for Congress in 2022 and then seek the speaker post, as Republicans are expected to regain the majority.

Riding in a black SUV, the former president drove slowly through the cheering crowd, protected by members of the Secret Service.

Supporters waved Trump flags and American flags, chanting “USA!” as Trump’s familiar shock of blond hair was spotted in the window of the vehicle.

President Biden Pulling Trigger on Much Tougher Gun Laws

By WND. Joe Biden on Saturday used the third anniversary of the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, for his expected call for further restrictions on gun ownership.

Unlike many of the actions Biden has taken to date, he indicated he would appeal to Congress for help, not use executive orders for a change.

“The Parkland students and so many other young people across the country who have experienced gun violence are carrying forward the history of the American journey,” he said in a statement. “It is a history written by young people in each generation who challenged prevailing dogma to demand a simple truth: We can do better. And we will.”

He added: “This administration will not wait for the next mass shooting to heed that call. We will take action to end our epidemic of gun violence and make our schools and communities safer. Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets.” . . .

Biden said on his campaign website that he will “defeat” the National Rifle Association. Among his proposed actions are: repealing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which protects gun manufacturers from some lawsuits; banning so-called assault weapons, as Congress did for 10 years in 1994; and forcing people either to give up certain guns and magazines or register them with the federal government. Biden Calls on Congress to Ban Assault Weapons and Institute Other Gun Restrictions

By CBS News. On the third anniversary of the Parkland school shooting, President Joe Biden called on Congress to pass stricter gun laws, including banning assault weapons. In a statement from the White House, Mr. Biden on Sunday asked Congress to pass laws requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers.

“Today, as we mourn with the Parkland community, we mourn for all who have lost loved ones to gun violence,” Mr. Biden said.

The White House didn’t provide more details about Mr. Biden’s plan.

Their organization, March for Our Lives, has been pushing Mr. Biden to appoint a gun czar who would serve in a Cabinet-adjacent position. By WND. Vandals targeted the home of one of former President Donald Trump’s impeachment lawyers, spray-painting the word “TRAITOR” in red on his driveway in suburban Philadelphia, police said.

The vandalism occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday at attorney Michael van der Veen’s residence in West Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia, according to police. . .

“My home was attacked. I’d rather not go into that,” a visibly upset van der Veen said, adding: “My entire family, my business, my law firm are under siege right now.”

“My home was attacked last night – windows broken, spray paint, really bad words spray-painted everywhere,” Van der Veen said. “I’m a trial lawyer and I represent people’s interests in court. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley issued stunning remarks breaking with former President Trump, telling Politico in an interview published Friday that she believes he “let us down.”

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” Haley, who served in her ambassador role under Trump, said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.” . . .

Parler Resumes Operations on New Servers and Maintains Free Speech Model

Parler announced on Monday that it will resume operations on a new platform after previously being removed from Amazon servers due to disputes regarding its terms of service, calling itself the “world’s #1 free speech social media platform.”

“Parler was built to offer a social media platform that protects free speech and values privacy and civil discourse. When Parler was taken offline in January by those who desire to silence tens of millions of Americans, our team came together, determined to keep our promise to our highly engaged community that we would return stronger than ever. We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back,” Mark Meckler, Parler’s interim CEO, said in a statement. “Parler is being run by an experienced team and is here to stay. Amazon Web Services shut down Parler’s servers on Jan. 11, days after the app was removed from Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store.

Meckler told Just the News that the 20 million users who are currently signed up to Parler can use their old login information to get back on the free social media service beginning on Monday. Most users should be able to access the social media site after midday, once the new servers are disseminated across the internet. Pigs Can Play Video Games With Their Snouts, Scientists Find

Pigs can play video games, scientists have found, after putting four fun-loving swine to the test.

Four pigs – Hamlet, Omelette, Ebony and Ivory – were trained to use an arcade-style joystick to steer an on-screen cursor into walls.

Researchers said the fact that the pigs understood the connection between the stick and the game “is no small feat”.

And the pigs even continued playing when the food reward dispenser broke – apparently for the social contact.

New Biden K-12 Plan Will Cancel Sports for Nearly 83 Percent of Counties

On Friday the Biden administration released an “Operational Strategy for K-12 Schools through Phased Mitigation” plan that will leave about 83 percent of counties closed for sports and extracurricular activities. That amounts to 2,599 out of 3,138 counties.

The plan divides counties into statuses: blue for “low,” yellow for “moderate,” orange for “substantial,” and red for “high.” In the high red transmission category, “sports and extracurricular activities are virtual only.”

In other words, student athletes can kiss organized sports goodbye for the time being.

According to the most recent CDC guidance, which Biden is relying on for threshold definitions, 391 counties are in the orange phase (12.5 percent), 148 are in yellow (4.7 percent), and only one is in blue phase. Dems Include Money for Abortion Providers in COVID Relief Bill

Tucked inside the Biden administration’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package is a provision to restore millions in government funding to Planned Parenthood.

The $1.9 trillion stimulus package Democrats say aims to reboot the economy provides a $50 million boost to the Title X family planning program, which under the Biden administration will supply abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood with government funds. The Trump administration had amended Title X to make abortion providers ineligible for the funds, which are intended for health services and family planning, but the change is in the process of being reversed, restoring a giant revenue stream for Planned Parenthood.

While the stimulus is intended to reboot an economy suffering the after-effects of COVID-19 and government restrictions on economic activity, it also features major progressive policy goals. In addition to expanding taxpayer funding for abortion services, the aid package also includes a provision to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Senate Democrats are planning on using the budget reconciliation process to pass the package, meaning it can pass with just 50 votes in favor and Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.

The boost to the Title X program comes after lengthy battles over Planned Parenthood’s role in government funding and stimulus packages. Some states declared abortion to be an essential service and allowed abortion clinics to remain open while others ordered the clinics to close as part of coronavirus-related shutdowns. In Pennsylvania, for example, Gov. Tom Wolf (D.) ordered all elective surgeries suspended during the crisis while exempting abortion clinics. Study Reveals How Much Deadlier UK COVID Variant Found in U.S. Could Be

The COVID-19 variant that originated in the UK and is now spreading in the US may be up to 70 percent deadlier than previous versions of the bug, according to a British study.

A group that includes experts from universities and public agencies in the UK found that the variant — known as B.1.1.7 — is likely about 30 percent to 70 percent deadlier than the original strain, according to Fox News.

Scientists had already determined that the so-called Kent variant — named after the county where it was first detected — was probably that much more transmissible.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted last month that it “may also be associated with a higher degree of mortality.”
