New CDC Guidelines Say Wearing a Mask Isn’t Effective During Prolonged Exposure to COVID-19

Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that those who come in close contact with someone with the coronavirus for more than 15 minutes could spread the virus regardless of whether either party wears a mask.

“Wondering what @cdcgov really thinks about masks? Their guidance on quarantining after exposure to someone with #covid explicitly states whether the infected OR exposed person wore masks doesn’t matter,” former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson tweeted Sunday. . .

The CDC states on its Public Health Guidance for Community-Related Exposure page that those who come in close contact with people showing COVID-19 symptoms or someone who has tested positive for the virus can spread the infection whether or not they are wearing masks.

CDC states that “data to inform the definition of close contact are limited.” Factors “to consider” when defining close contact are duration of exposure, proximity to an infected person, and whether or not that person is presenting symptoms. Data for what a prolonged exposure is are iffy; however, longer than 15 minutes can be considered an operational definition, according to the CDC. National Intelligence: Unmatched ‘National Security Threat’ Posed by China Includes Election Interference

China poses a greater national security challenge to the United States than any other country, including when it comes to possible election interference, according to Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe.

With the Nov. 3 presidential election fast approaching, a senior U.S. counterintelligence official warned earlier this month that Russia is actively trying to denigrate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. That same statement also said China “prefers” President Trump not win reelection and that Beijing views him as being more “unpredictable.” That counterintelligence official said China is “expanding its influence efforts ahead of November 2020” but seemed to describe China’s efforts as being mostly rhetorical in nature.

But in a statement given to the Washington Examiner, Ratcliffe, a former Texas Republican congressman who has overseen the nation’s 17 intelligence agencies since May, amplified the sense of urgency felt by the Trump administration to counter the broad reach of the Chinese Communist Party’s efforts to disrupt an unfavorable status quo.

“China poses a greater national security threat to the U.S. than any other nation — economically, militarily and technologically,” Ratcliffe said. “That includes threats of election influence and interference.”

He said China is “concerned” that Trump being reelected would “lead to a continuation of policies that they perceive to be ‘anti-China.'” Ratcliffe did not mention how Biden, a former vice president, is viewed in Beijing as an alternative U.S. leader. WATCH: Mother of Jacob Blake Says She Is ‘Praying’ for Police Officers, Condemns Rioting and Looting in Son’s Name

The mother of Jacob Blake, who was shot Sunday by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, addressed the public during a press conference regarding the status of her son Tuesday afternoon.

“We really just need prayers,” Julia Jackson said. She added that she “noticed a lot of damage” around the city.

“It doesn’t reflect my son or my family. If Jacob knew what was going on, as far as that goes, the violence and the destruction, he would be very unpleased. So I’m really asking and encouraging everyone in Wisconsin and abroad to take a moment and examine your hearts. Citizens, police officers, firemen, clergy, politicians, do Jacob justice on this level and examine your hearts. We need healing,” Jackson said. . .

“As I pray for my son’s healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, I also have been praying even before this for the healing of our country. God has placed each and everyone of us in this country because he wanted us to be here,” she said.

“Clearly, you can see by now that I have beautiful brown skin. But take a look at your hand, and whatever shade it is, it is beautiful as well. How dare we hate what we are. We are humans. God did not make one type of tree, or flower, or fish, or horse, or grass, or rock. How dare you ask him to make one type of human that looks just like you. I’m not talking to just caucasian people. I’m talking to everyone: white, black, Japanese, Chinese, red, brown — no one is superior to the other. The only supreme being is God himself. Please, let’s begin to pray for healing for our nation. We are the United States. Have we been united? Do you understand what’s going to happen when we fall? Because a house that is against each other cannot stand. To all of the police officers, I’m praying for you and your families,” Jackson added. Biden Campaign Tries to Distance Itself From Linda Sarsour, but There’s One Problem

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign has publicly distanced itself from former Women’s March co-chair Linda Sarsour.

But Biden’s running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, enthusiastically embraced the Women’s March under Sarsour’s leadership, a Daily Caller News Foundation review found.

Biden’s campaign has also maintained a private channel of communication with Sarsour, who has faced scrutiny for her ties to radical figures including Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, a notorious anti-Semite.

Sarsour and other Women’s March leaders resigned from the organization in September 2019 after facing criticism for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks and affiliating with Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

A spokesman for the Biden campaign on August 18 denounced Sarsour after she spoke at a Democratic National Convention event last week. (Read more from “Biden Campaign Tries to Distance Itself From Linda Sarsour, but There’s One Problem” HERE)

American Airlines to Cut 19,000 Jobs When Federal Aid Expires

American Airlines will cut 19,000 employees in October when federal aid that protected those jobs expires and as the coronavirus pandemic continues to devastate travel demand, the carrier said Tuesday.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline, which employed more than 140,000 people in March, is prohibited from laying off workers through Sept. 30 under the terms of a $25 billion federal aid package set aside for carriers to weather the worst of the crisis. But demand has only modestly recovered, presenting a dire scenario for airlines. American said its fourth-quarter capacity will be half of the year-ago level and that international long-haul flights will be just 25% of its 2019 schedule.

“We have come to you many times throughout the pandemic, often with sobering updates on a world none of us could have imagined,” wrote American Airlines CEO Doug Parker and its president, Robert Isom, in a staff note announcing the cuts. “Today is the hardest message we have had to share so far – the announcement of involuntary staffing reductions effective Oct. 1.”

American said it expects to have 40,000 fewer employees in October compared with when the pandemic began, the carrier said. The involuntary cuts include furloughs of 17,500 union workers, including flight attendants, pilots and mechanics, and 1,500 administration and management jobs. NYT Reporter Tries to Cancel Pardoned Black Christian for Supporting Trump at RNC

A New York Times money and politics reporter, Kenneth Vogel, is trying to cancel a pardoned black Christian, Jon Ponder, whose inspirational story of redemption was prominently featured on night two of the Republican National Convention Tuesday, for endorsing the president’s re-election. . .

It’s a good question to the uneducated eye and an even better one for the deceptive media, which knows better but hopes its readers don’t.

While federal tax laws do prohibit 501(c)(3) groups from being used for partisan electioneering, they don’t ban individuals who happen to work at them from having political opinions and making them public. Former President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea ran the Clinton Foundation with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for years while campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Just last week, Michelle Obama, who co-chairs the 501(c)(3) group “When We All Vote,” also enjoyed a prime-time speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention last week. New Mexico Police Officer Tells Story at RNC About Adopting Baby of Homeless Drug Addict

By Fox News. Ryan Holets, a New Mexico police officer, voiced his thanks to President Trump during the second night of the Republican National Convention for his declaration of the opioid crisis as a public health emergency.

Holets shared a personal story about how opioids have affected his and his family’s life in a very unique way – he adopted the baby of a woman that he saved who was addicted to opioids.

“I encounter the ravages of addiction every day. But, nothing could prepare me for what I discovered as I approached them. The woman was very pregnant,” Holets explained. “In my shock, I asked her if she knew that she was harming her baby by doing drugs. She crumbled, and burst into tears.”

He explained how as he talked to the woman named Crystal, she expressed how she wanted the best for her unborn child. And Holets described the understanding and empathy he felt for her.

“I saw her the way that all of you who know or love an addict see them, as fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends. Human beings full of value and dignity, but robbed of their potential by this disease,” Holets said Tuesday night.

Kansas Democrat Linked to ‘Revenge Porn’ Now Says He’ll Stay in State House Election

A 19-year-old Kansas Democrat running for a seat in the state House — who said Sunday he would drop out of the race after admitting to a “revenge porn” incident when he was in middle school and to harassing others on social media — reversed course Tuesday, saying he plans to stay in the race.

Aaron Coleman wrote that since he announced he was dropping out of the race, “I have heard from many of the people who voted for me urging me not to drop out. They said they did not vote for me expecting that I was a perfect person.”

In June, Coleman acknowledged that when he was 14 he made good on a threat to share a nude photo of a girl after attempting to force her to send him more nude photos. He also admitted to harassing other girls online.

In his statement Tuesday, Coleman further said his withdrawal would have returned the district to the “same corporatist, out-of-touch 7-term incumbent that voters just rejected,” referring to Rep. Stan Frownfelter, who Coleman beat in a primary earlier this month by 14 votes. (Read more from “Kansas Democrat Linked to ‘Revenge Porn’ Now Says He’ll Stay in State House Election” HERE)

WATCH: Did Biden’s Deputy Campaign Manager Accidentally Reveal Why He’s Hiding in His Basement?

By Townhall. Former Vice President Joe Biden has been hiding in his basement for months since the start of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. He’s done a few interviews via Skype and Zoom but he hasn’t made much of an appearance until this past week during the Democratic National Convention. It’s been unclear how his campaign is handling things, like virus precautions. Despite being asked about what they’re doing, the Biden campaign has refused to answer whether or not the former vice president has been tested or came up positive for the Wuhan coronavirus.

Because of that, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked Deputy Campaign Manager Kate Bedingfield what’s taking place.

“On July 28th Joe Biden said he hadn’t been tested for the coronavirus. But this week, your campaign refused on two occasions, to answer the question of whether or not he had been tested,” Stephanopoulos said. “So can you clarify. Has Joe Biden been tested for COVID? Has he had the virus?” . . .

Bedingfield cited the DNC, saying journalists at ABC got firsthand views of the steps the campaign is taking to keep the candidate safe.

“We’ve put in place incredibly strict protocols to ensure that everybody involved, who is around Vice President Biden, who’s around Senator Harris, is undergoing the appropriate testing,” she explained. Trump Aims for Convention Game Change, Planning Patriotic Program and Biden Counterattacks

By Fox News. The Republican National Convention kicking off Monday will be a four-day celebration of President Trump – and a visceral four-day condemnation of Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his party.

Coming off a week during which Democrats used their quadrennial confab to hammer the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and warn that another four years of Trump in the White House would threaten the nation’s democratic foundations, Trump is promising to counter the message with a positive vision of “American greatness.”

Trailing the former vice president in the national public opinion polls – and more importantly also down by single-digit margins in many of the key general election battleground states that will decide the White House contest – Trump is working to create game-changing moments that can alter the long-standing dynamic in the 2020 presidential race.

“Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness,” the president said Friday at a gathering of the Council for National Policy, which is composed of leading Republican donors.

“Four straight days attacking America, as a racist, horrible country that must be redeemed,” Trump said as he painted a portrait of the Democratic gathering as the “darkest, gloomiest” convention. “Joe Biden grimly declared a season of American darkness, but look at what we’ve accomplished, until the plague came in, and look, we’re doing it again.” (Read more from “Trump Aims for Convention Game Change, Planning Patriotic Program and Biden Counterattacks” HERE)
