Why Women Live Longer Than Men: Science Has the Answer Now

It is a known fact that women live longer than men, irrespective of the place they are born or choose to spend their life. Scientists have long wondered the reason and now it looks like they have come real close to the cause.

The researchers from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) claim that the secret may lie in the second X chromosome, present in females. . .

The study, conducted on mice, showed that females live longer than males and that XX largely governs this trait in ageing mice. . .

The Y chromosome, present only in males, contains very few genes other than those that create secondary sex characteristics, like male genitals and facial hair, and it is not necessary for survival.

Further, having XX ovaries enabled mice to live longer, beginning at 21 months, which is toward the end of a normal mouse lifespan. (Read more from “Why Women Live Longer Than Men: Science Has the Answer Now” HERE)

Maxine Waters: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Biden Has What It Takes to Beat Trump

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, said Tuesday she doesn’t know if Joe Biden has what it takes to defeat President Trump and declined to share her opinion of the former vice president’s fitness for office.

Waters was asked if she is supporting Biden or Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic presidential primary.

“It’s not about who you like,” Waters told Just the News on Capitol Hill ahead of Tuesday’s presidential primaries. “It’s about now watching and understanding who can beat Trump.”

Asked if Biden could beat Trump, she replied, “I don’t know, but we’ll see.”

President Trump has criticized Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail. Asked if she thinks Biden has the fitness for office given his gaffes, Waters wheeled instead on the president. (Read more from “Maxine Waters: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Biden Has What It Takes to Beat Trump” HERE)

U.S. and Coalition Troops Killed in Rocket Attack in Iraq

Two Americans and one other coalition member were killed in a rocket attack on a base in Iraq on Wednesday night, a U.S. military spokesman said, potentially spiking tensions with Iran about two months after a series of bloody events that were capped by the death of an Iranian general in a U.S. drone strike.

At least 12 people were wounded in the attack at Camp Taji, about 17 miles north of Baghdad, according to the spokesman, Navy Capt. Bill Urban. About 18 Katyusha rockets hit the base, and five of the wounded were evacuated in serious condition, Urban said.

The rockets were launched from the Rashediya area of northeast Baghdad, Iraqi military officials said in a statement. Iraqi forces found a truck rigged with rockets a few miles away from the base, the U.S. military said in a statement.

U.S. officials have attributed the use of such rockets in attacks to Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, prompting questions how the United States and its allies might respond. (Read more from “U.S. and Coalition Troops Killed in Rocket Attack in Iraq” HERE)

Rep. Ilhan Omar Announces Marriage to Political Strategist

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) announced on Instagram Wednesday night that she has remarried, posting a picture flashing rings with her political strategist, Tim Mynett, with whom she previously denied having an affair. . .

“Got married! From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed,” Omar wrote along with the picture on Instagram, adding, “Alhamdulillah.” . . .

The apparent nuptials happened last week, according to the Daily Mail, which has covered Omar’s relationship history closely. The outlet reported last month that Omar and Mynett were caught carrying on an affair by one of Omar’s previous husbands.

The marriage is reportedly Omar’s fourth, and Mynett is her third husband. The Minnesota Democrat was married twice before to Ahmed Hirsi, with whom she shares three children. In between her marriages to Hirsi, Omar wed Ahmed Elmi, whom watchdog groups allege is actually her brother. . .

Tom Fitton, president of watchdog group Judicial Watch, reacted to the news Wednesday night by tweeting, “Months after @JudicialWatch requests expanded ethics investigation into whether Ilhan Omar campaign funds improperly used for alleged paramour, she reportedly just married this man — further suggesting the payments were shady!”

Study Reveals How Long Coronavirus Can Live in the Air and on Surfaces

Coronavirus, which has caused more than 4,500 deaths across the globe, can remain viable in the air for up to three hours, and on plastic and stainless steel for up to three days, according to a study conducted by a team of U.S. government researchers released Wednesday.

The lead author of the study cautioned that the findings do not prove that coronavirus can be transmitted through the air, only that it is “theoretically possible.”

“We’re not by any way saying there is aerosolized transmission of the virus,” Neeltje van Doremalen, a scientist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, told The Associated Press.

The virus, referred to as both COVID-19 and HCoV-19, is being transmitted rapidly in some way, either through person-to-person contact, or through particles in the air or on surfaces. U.S. health experts have urged the public to take precautions to avoid becoming infected and transmitting coronavirus. Frequent hand-washing, avoiding handshakes, and large crowds in certain areas is recommended.

As of Wednesday, more than 120,000 people across the globe — as well as 1,100 Americans — tested positive for the virus. Thirty-three people have died in the U.S., and more than 4,500 in all. The number of cases in the U.S. has more than tripled since March 6. (Read more from “Study Reveals How Long Coronavirus Can Live in the Air and on Surfaces” HERE)

Military Surgeon: ‘Trump Is Right’ on the Seasonal Flu Being More Dangerous Than Coronavirus; 31 Dead in the U.S.; Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus

By Breitbart. Air Force Brig. Gen. Paul A. Friedrichs, Joint Staff Surgeon, said Tuesday at a Pentagon briefing that President Trump is “right” that the seasonal flu is more dangerous than the coronavirus.

“So, the president is right. I know you’re shocked that I said that, but the president is right,” Friedrichs said to a reporter. “There are more people ill with the seasonal flu than there are ill with coronavirus worldwide and in the United States and in the military.”

He added:

The reasons that we are taking the precautions that you are seeing is that this is a new virus and we are continuing to learn about this virus, about how easy it is to spread the virus, and in particular and in an environment like this in close spaces, we’re trying to figure out the best way to mitigate the risk until we have solid data on that.

You know the military is good on planning, we’re also good on trying to decrease risk. So we’d rather mitigate that risk up front than wait and find out that we should have done it because multiple people got sick along the way.

Coronavirus Updates: 31 Dead in the U.S. as States Scramble to Contain the Virus

By CBS News. U.S. officials are racing to implement new measures to stop the spread of coronavirus, which has killed at least 31 people in the country and sickened nearly 1,000. Multiple states have declared a state of emergency to help free up resources to fight the virus.

In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that officials are implementing a “containment area” centered in New Rochelle, a suburb of New York City. Within the containment area, a 1-mile radius, large gathering places will be closed for two weeks, officials said. That includes schools and places of worship.

“We are also going to use the National Guard in the containment area to deliver food to homes, to help with the cleaning of public spaces,” Cuomo said. He added that a temporary coronavirus testing facility will be set up within the zone. (Read more from “Coronavirus Updates: 31 Dead in the U.S. as States Scramble to Contain the Virus” HERE)

Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus

By Politico. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he is willing to be tested for the novel coronavirus after interacting with congressional lawmakers who have since self-quarantined because of concerns over the outbreak. . .

“I don’t think it’s a big deal. I would do it,” Trump told reporters in the Capitol after meeting with Republican senators.

“I don’t feel that any reason — I feel extremely good. I feel very good, but I guess it’s not a big deal to get tested, and I — something I would do,” the president continued.

“But, again, I spoke to the White House doctor — terrific guy, talented guy. He said he sees no reason to do it,” Trump said. “There’s no symptoms, no anything. And you know what? If there were, you people would be the first to know it. You would maybe even tell me about it.” (Read more from “Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus” HERE)

‘Infowars’ Alex Jones Arrested on DWI Charge

Prominent right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was arrested early Tuesday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to law enforcement.

Jones, who as host of the Austin-based InfoWars conspiracy theory outlet has become a prominent force on the fringe right, was arrested on a class-B misdemeanor DWI charge, according to a spokeswoman for the Travis County sheriff’s department. Jones was booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin at 12:37 AM, and released on bond at 4:11 AM. . .

But an arrest affidavit filed in court paints a different picture. According to the report, Jones’ wife called the sheriff’s department on Monday night to report a “family disturbance” between her and Jones. Jones’ wife added that he had possibly been drinking, according to the report. . .

On the way to Jones’ home, a sheriff’s deputy saw a car matching the description of Jones’ car and pulled him over. Jones had a “strong odor of alcohol coming from his person,” according to the affidavit, and said he had drank a bottle of Sake earlier that night at dinner. The report describes Jones’ eyes as “water and glassy,” with “constricted pupils,” and adds that the host was “excited, talkative, and carefree.” (Read more from “‘Infowars’ Alex Jones Arrested on DWI Charge” HERE)
