Bondi Praised for Making ‘One of the Best Decisions Ever’

Attorney General Pam Bondi notified the American Bar Association that the Trump administration will no longer grant the organization access to non-public information about judicial nominees.

“For several decades, the American Bar Association has received special treatment and enjoyed special access to judicial nominees,” Bondi said in the letter to ABA President William Bay. “In some administrations, the ABA received notice of nominees before a nomination was announced to the public. Some administrations would even decide whether to nominate an individual based on a rating assigned by the ABA.”

Bondi then called out the ABA for its liberal leanings.

“Unfortunately, the ABA no longer functions as a fair arbiter of nominees’ qualifications, and its ratings invariably and demonstrably favor nominees put forth by Democratic administrations,” Bondi continued.

“Accordingly, while the ABA is free to comment on judicial nominations along with other activist organizations, there is no justification for treating the ABA differently from such other activist organizations and the Department of Justice will not do so,” she added. “Specifically, the Office of Legal Policy will no longer direct nominees to provide waivers allowing the ABA access to non-public information, including bar records. Nominees will also not respond to questionnaires prepared by the ABA and will not sit for interviews with the ABA.”

Gun Owners Can Be Arrested for Concealed Carrying After Crossing State Lines — but There’s a Solution

While Americans acquire training to apply for concealed carry permits, Second Amendment groups are pushing Congress to pass concealed carry reciprocity legislation so gun owners are not arrested after crossing state lines.

The Daily Caller went to the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) gun range in Fairfax, Virginia, and attended Live Fire Instruction’s pistol fundamentals course in May.

Participants who complete the class are eligible to apply for a Virginia Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit.

“We were so busy during COVID, we were booked months and months out,” Lisa Paris, founder and owner of Live Fire Instruction, told the Caller. “I probably could have taught a class every single day during COVID, because the level of fear was so high.”

Gun ownership, especially among women, spiked during COVID-19. (Read more from “Gun Owners Can Be Arrested for Concealed Carrying After Crossing State Lines — but There’s a Solution” HERE)

YMCA Scrubs Trans Guidance After Parent Group Uproar

The YMCA removed several webpages outlining policies that allow boys who identify as girls to access female cabins, showers and locker rooms following backlash from a national parent group.

The takedown came days after the American Parents Coalition published a warning to families Wednesday about YMCA summer camps permitting biological males into private spaces designated for girls. The now-removed materials — which were archived — included guidelines encouraging staff to affirm “gender identity” over sex and to withhold such information from parents.

“Parents deserve the truth — especially when it involves the possibility that their children could be put in a situation where they’re expected to share private spaces with members of the opposite sex,” said Alleigh Marré, executive director of the coalition.

Archived versions of the removed pages show the YMCA’s national body had issued guidance dating as far back as 2017 encouraging affiliates to give campers access to facilities based on self-declared gender identity. One page, titled “How to Creat ea Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers,” states that camp workers should “ensure all campers have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity.”

Guidance from Camp Olson, a YMCA facility in Minnesota, advised against notifying families if their child decided to come out as transgender at the camp, stating that “an individual should not be outed without their permission … to other participants, staff, or their own families” — adding that biological sex “should not dictate the use of gendered space.” Other now-removed YMCA webpages included recommendations to feature transgender individuals in promotional material, partner with LGBT advocacy groups and read books like “George” — a novel about a boy who wants to be a girl — to children as young as four. Trump to U.S. Steel Workers: ‘You’re Going to Stay an American Company’

President Donald Trump informed U.S. Steel workers on Friday evening that the iconic American steel company will remain an “American company,” days after he revealed that there was a “planned partnership” between Japan’s Nippon Steel Corporation and the U.S. Steel Corporation.

While speaking in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump highlighted how “for generations” U.S. Steel’s name “was synonymous with greatness,” and added that the name will “again by synonymous with greatness.”

“We’re here today to celebrate a blockbuster agreement that will ensure this storied American company STAYS an American company — you’re going to stay an American company, you know that right?” Trump said. “We’re going to have a great partner. And, I have to tell you, Japan has been a tremendous friend of mine during my years as president — and then we had a little hiatus, we had a rigged election.”

Trump continued:

It will keep its headquarters in the great city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it belongs. For generations, the name, United States Steel was synonymous with greatness, and now it will again be synonymous with greatness. The best, and strongest steel on earth will forever be made in America and made in Pennsylvania.

Elon Musk Raises Concerns After Sporting Black Eye at White House Farewell — Here’s What He Says Happened

Billionaire Elon Musk stunned the White House press corps Friday by sporting a black eye to an Oval Office event to mark the end of his 130 days in the Trump administration.

“I’ve got a little shiner here,” the 53-year-old said after President Trump answered a question from Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy about “the first lady of France slapping her husband, Emmanuel Macron.”

“I wasn’t anywhere near France,” Musk added. “I was just horsing around with Little X, and I said, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face,’ and he did.”

“Turns out even a five-year-old punching you in the face … ” he began before trailing off.

The mark was visible in pictures posted Thursday from a separate presentation that the now-former special government employee delivered about his company SpaceX’s plans to land on Mars.

“What do you think would be easier, colonizing Mars or making the government efficient?” a reporter asked. (Read more from “Elon Musk Raises Concerns After Sporting Black Eye at White House Farewell — Here’s What He Says Happened” HERE)

Putin to Skip Peace Talks as Trump Pushes for Immediate End to War

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s absence from the second round of in-person peace talks between Russia and Ukraine sends a clear signal that the Kremlin has no genuine interest in ending the war it started. Putin’s decision to skip the negotiating table underscores his continued commitment to aggression over diplomacy. However, President Donald Trump said meeting with world leaders is crucial to signing a peace agreement.

On Monday, June 2nd, Istanbul is set to host a planned meeting involving Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany to discuss potential ceasefire talks amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. However, the future of these negotiations remains uncertain, as Russia has submitted “specific proposals” to Washington but has not shared them with Kyiv.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain whether Ukraine will attend the meeting, with outlets pointing out that Kyiv is “keeping Russia guessing.”

According to reports, Kyiv wants to exchange negotiation points with Moscow before the talks begin. At the same time, Russia insists on only sharing its proposals in person and behind closed doors, emphasizing that talks should remain private.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that, despite Russia’s claims of spending over a week preparing a memorandum for peace talks, they have yet to share it with Ukraine, international partners, or Turkey, the host of the initial meeting. Trump’s Tariffs Are Back in Effect After Appeals Court Ruling

An appeals court on Thursday stayed the ruling of the U.S. Court of International Trade that blocked President Donald Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs, meaning the tariffs are back in effect.

The U.S. Court of International Trade issued an injunction on Wednesday night, ruling that President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs are illegal. The White House filed a motion to stay the ruling, and the tariffs were reinstated Thursday afternoon, as CNBC noted, shortly after the White House slammed the ruling.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said hours before the stay that the three judges on the trade court “brazenly abused their judicial power to usurp the authority of President Trump, to stop him from carrying out the mandate that the American people gave him.” (Read more from “Trump’s Tariffs Are Back in Effect After Appeals Court Ruling” HERE)

Trump Administration To ‘Pause’ Scandal-Plagued, $2 Billion ‘Job Corps’

The Department of Labor said Thursday that it will “begin a phased pause” of an almost $2 billion federal job training program that has persisted since 1964 despite a dubious record.

The Job Corps houses a mix of runaway teens and 20-something ex-cons in residential campuses, where 16- to 24-year-olds are paid to receive their GED diplomas and training in several trades.

For decades, there has been evidence that monetary incentives have led to fraud, with contractors — who get paid bonuses for recruiting students and for having positive job-placement statistics — cooking the books to misrepresent post-graduation job outcomes, and tolerating criminal behavior on campus to avoid the loss of federal dollars that would come from expulsions.

Contractors, including large for-profit companies, operate 99 of the Job Corps’ 131 facilities, which collectively house 25,000 students. Those contracts were “terminated for convenience” on Thursday, with the contractors beginning to “mobilize students safely to their home of record” by June 30, the Labor Department said. Campuses operated by government entities, such as the Department of Agriculture, are not affected by the pause.

“Job Corps was created to help young adults build a pathway to a better life through education, training, and community,” Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said in a statement. “However, a startling number of serious incident reports and our in-depth fiscal analysis reveal the program is no longer achieving the intended outcomes that students deserve. We remain committed to ensuring all participants are supported through this transition and connected with the resources they need to succeed as we evaluate the program’s possibilities.” (Read more from “Trump Administration To ‘Pause’ Scandal-Plagued, $2 Billion ‘Job Corps’” HERE)

Mom Who Sold Daughter, 6, so Her Eyes and Skin Could Be Cut Out and Used for ‘Medicine’ Gets Life in Prison

A mom who sold her 6-year-old daughter so her skin and eyes could be cut out and used by a “traditional healer” had been sentenced to life in prison in South Africa.

Racquel “Kelly” Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen Appollis, and their friend Steveno van Rhyn were all handed life sentences more than a year after the mysterious disappearance of Joshlin Smith from outside her home near Cape Town.

When Joshlin first disappeared, her mother was a figure of sympathy, and pictures of the girl’s striking green eyes, pigtails and broad smile were shared across the country.

Smith showed no emotion as her sentence was handed down, bringing an end to an eight-week trial that had to be moved to a local stadium so horrified members of the community could bear witness.

She admitted to selling her daughter to a traditional healer, or sangoma, for 20,000 rand ($1,100), and said the girl was desired for her “eyes and skin,” a witness told the court.
