Trump Says It’s Safe to Hold Rallies Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

By The Hill. President Trump said Monday that he believed it was safe to continue holding campaign rallies across the country during the coronavirus outbreak.

“I think it’s very safe,” Trump told reporters when asked whether he believed holding rallies was safe during an Oval Office meeting with Colombian President Iván Duque Márquez on Monday morning.

Trump, who is scheduled to headline a rally in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday evening, also told reporters they should ask the same question of Democrats running for president.

“Well this was set up a long time ago and others are,” Trump said, referring to the North Carolina rally. “You could ask that to the Democrats because they’re having a lot of rallies.”

The coronavirus outbreak has led a number of countries in Europe and Asia to take measures to mitigate the spread; Switzerland, for instance, has banned events of over 1,000 and Japan has implemented a country-wide school closure. WATCH: Voter Confronts Mike Bloomberg on His Radical Gun Control Agenda Despite Having Armed Security; Mike Bloomberg Fires Back at Trump’s ‘Mini Mike’ Taunts

By The Blaze. Democratic presidential candidate and gun control advocate Michael Bloomberg was asked by a voter on Monday how he can “justify” his agenda aimed at restricting his fellow Americans’ right to defend themselves while he himself enjoys the security of having armed guards protect him. . .

During a Fox News town hall, Virginia voter Clarke Chitty rose from the audience to ask Bloomberg, “How do you justify pushing for more gun control when you have an armed security detail that is likely equipped with the same firearms and magazines that you seek to ban the common citizen from owning? Does your life matter more than mine or my family’s or these people’s?”

The crowd erupted in cheers before Bloomberg replied, “Look, I probably get 40 or 50 threats every week, okay, and some of them are real. That just happens when you’re the mayor of New York City or you’re very wealthy and if you’re campaigning for president of the United States. You get lots of threats. So, I have a security detail, I pay for it all myself, and…they’re all retired police officers who are very well trained in firearms.” (Read more from “WATCH: Voter Confronts Mike Bloomberg on His Radical Gun Control Agenda Despite Having Armed Security” HERE)

Mike Bloomberg Fires Back at Trump’s ‘Mini Mike’ Taunts: I ‘Measure Height From the Neck up’

By Fox News. Former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg responded to President Trump’s repeated references to his less-than-six-foot stature, telling a Fox News Town Hall that height is “measured from the neck up.”

At the past weekend’s CPAC event in Oxon Hill, Md., Trump riffed on Bloomberg’s height — at one point crouching at his lectern so his forehead was barely visible on the dais.

“We’ve got Mini Mike, but I think he’s out of it,” Trump said in the clip, played by Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum during their Northern Virginia town hall. . .

Bloomberg watched the clip showing little expression but riffed in response that physical height isn’t all that matters when it comes to stature.

“Donald talks about height — where I come from we measure height from the neck up,” he said, receiving applause for the remark. (Read more from “Mike Bloomberg Fires Back at Trump’s ‘Mini Mike’ Taunts: I ‘Measure Height From the Neck up'” HERE)

Biden Slams Trump’s Handling of Coronavirus in Rant Filled With Lies and Hypocrisy

Following his victory in the South Carolina primary, former Vice President Joe Biden did a Sunday morning political talk show blitz in an effort to continue building momentum behind his candidacy as he and the Democratic field head into the “Super Tuesday” election on March 3. One way that Biden is working to position himself as his party’s front-runner is by attacking President Donald Trump.

Asked by ABC host George Stephanopoulos how his administration would have handled the federal response to the coronavirus differently, Biden went on a rant that was riddled with falsehoods and hypocrisy. . .

Biden began his answer by stating that his response to the coronavirus would have been “fundamentally different” from Trump’s handling of the matter. He then cited the Obama administration’s handling of the Ebola virus as an example of his own experience handling virus outbreaks and attacked Trump for “putting someone in charge [Vice President Mike Pence] who is not a scientist.”

There’s only one problem: The person whom Biden and former president Barack Obama named as the country’s “Ebola Czar” in 2014 was Ron Klain, the former vice president’s chief of staff. Klain was also not a scientist. In fact, he is a longtime Democratic political operative. . .

In his diatribe, Biden also accused President Trump of “muzzling scientists.” This is not true. (Read more from “Biden Slams Trump’s Handling of Coronavirus in Rant Filled With Lies and Hypocrisy” HERE)

Forgotten Issues in the Coronavirus Debate: Mass Migration and Offshoring to China

This week, Congress will debate its reaction to the coronavirus. One hundred percent of the discussion will revolve around how much money to throw at HHS agencies already flush with record budgets, but nobody is discussing the biggest policy problem implicated during critical public health crises – mass migration and outsourcing to and from the very source countries of these outbreaks.

Immigration, when managed properly, at the right levels, from the right places, with prudent vetting and fostering of Americanization among the new arrivals, can enrich a country. But when done with no regard for American sovereignty and security, and through irresponsible and unchecked mass migration, it can be the biggest conduit for whatever global concerns we seek to avoid – whether drugs, cultural problems, espionage, terrorism, trade theft, or communicable diseases.

It is evident from both the 2003 SARS and 2020 coronavirus outbreaks that China cannot be trusted to keep these viruses in check or to be truthful and collaborative in containing them. Living with such a clear reality, why are policymakers not questioning the effect of bringing in hundreds of thousands of Chinese students and tens of thousands more on other visas every year? Why do we not clamp down on mass travel the minute there is a sense of a novel virus outbreak in China? Those are the questions policymakers should be grappling with this week.

Given the sheer number of Chinese students studying in our universities, an outcome the American people never voted for, how many countless thousands traveled back from school vacations in China when the new semester began in January? That coincided with the outbreak of the virus. What protocols were put in place to ensure they were not carrying the virus, or is such an effort even possible with such large numbers in a rush to get back for the new semester?

There are certainly a lot of terrific people who come here from China. But we can’t ignore the fact that the Chinese government is our biggest adversary and is using its diaspora of students, which flows into a pipeline of Chinese workers employed in sensitive industries and government research labs, as a means of stealing our expertise, data, and trade secrets and bringing it back home.

According to a bipartisan Senate Homeland Security subcommittee report, there are 10,000 Chinese nationals conducting research in the Department of Energy’s National Labs. The report found that agencies and departments conducting scientific research like the National Institutes of Health and the State Department do not “systematically track visa applicants linked to China’s talent recruitment plans.”

The report found that foreign-born researchers working for various U.S. scientific research agencies were being paid by China under the Thousand Talents Plan run by the communist government. It concludes, “American taxpayer funded research has contributed to China’s global rise over the last 20 years,” because it allowed China to go “from brain drain to brain gain.”

Just take the recent case of a Chinese national working for Coke in Atlanta. Just last month, Xiaorong “Shannon” You, a Chinese national, was indicted for stealing $100 million in trade secrets from six Coke vendors before she left the company. According to the FBI, this enabled her to win Chinese government funding to start a company making next-generation can coatings back in China.

As the Atlanta-Journal Constitution pointed out, “Chinese companies, individuals and agents steal between $225 billion and $600 billion a year in U.S. intellectual property ranging from copying designs to make knock-off handbags to pirated music and movies to corporate America’s most sensitive technologies, according to one outside estimate U.S. officials cite.”

It’s a fulfillment of what the Senate subcommittee report warned: how China, over the past generation, discovered that it’s “more efficient to allow its nationals to learn how to conduct research and develop cutting-edge technologies overseas and later find ways for these nationals to assist China.”

This is how China has been able to develop an army of people with American expertise to then work for these American or Chinese companies for a cheaper price overseas. Now, not only does China have an easy conduit to bring in communicable diseases to our country, but it has used it to stymie our ability to deal with such outbreaks properly, because most of our drug ingredients are made in, you guessed it, China!

On Friday, CNBC reported that the Food and Drug Administration announced its first drug shortage as a result of the coronavirus because so many of our drug manufacturers rely on ingredients made in China, but declined to name the drug. Again, the irony is lost on most policymakers that so many outbreaks occur in China, we bring in endless foreign students from China right during the outbreak in late December/early January, and the pipeline of Chinese students and workers is what has caused the very offshoring that makes us vulnerable during Chinese virus outbreaks!

The amazing thing is that senators will publish reports with findings smacking them in the face and indicting unbridled mass migration, yet they will never point the finger at the obvious culprit when the results become so painfully obvious during a time of a health epidemic. How could mass migration from China ever work for us when the politicians know how China is using it to scavenge America’s carcass?

No money in the world funneled to HHS can solve the problem of our de facto open-borders policy and the multiple ways China uses it against us. (For more from the author of “Forgotten Issues in the Coronavirus Debate: Mass Migration and Offshoring to China” please click HERE)

Politicians Willing to Release CONVICTED Illegal Alien Sex Offenders to Avoid ICE Removal

So, you are a local law enforcement officer, and you are releasing a convicted felon from prison after he completes his sentence. You know that 83 percent of released prisoners reoffend within nine years, and therefore, you will likely be dealing with more of his crimes in your jurisdiction. It’s good that foreign criminals are given over to ICE, so we don’t have to deal with their recidivism too, right? Well, not in sanctuary states like Illinois.

A group of sheriffs from the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announced last week that the Illinois Department of Corrections has stopped cooperating with ICE in transferring convicted criminal aliens to federal custody upon completion of their sentences. These are not detainers on those merely arrested for crimes; these are illegal aliens who have been convicted and served time in prison. Rather than jump at the opportunity to rid themselves of dangerous likely recidivists and focus solely on our own recidivist criminals, they are releasing them onto the streets.

Sheriff Mike Downey of Kankakee County accused the state government of giving the ex-inmates a “head start to evade federal law,” according to the AP. Among those illegal aliens recently transferred to ICE at Pontiac Correctional Facility while the state was still cooperating, according to the sheriff, were 11 convicted of murder or attempted murder, more than four dozen of predatory criminal sexual assault or abuse, including crimes involving children, and 33 of a crime involving a weapon.

Now, people like that will be released, and ICE will have to play whack-a-mole and engage in dangerous street operations to get each one separately.

According to Robert Guadian, director of the Chicago field office for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, “Now, about 400 convicted criminals per year — including felons who served time for crimes such as sexually abusing children and homicide — will be released into your community and into mine.”

These are the people most likely to commit more crimes. Just last week, ICE announced that Chicago police had released a career criminal alien in defiance of a detainer. Now that man is accused of sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in a McDonald’s bathroom.

There was once a time when everyone agreed we should not be on the hook for the recidivism of foreign criminals. Even Obama, as late as 2016, used to say, “Deport felons, not families.”

What is often overlooked in these cases is that there is no set date for criminals being released from prison. Thanks to the ever-growing complex system of multiple good time credits and early release programs, it’s not like ICE can mark a date on a calendar for when an illegal alien sentenced to prison will be released. Federal officials have no idea unless state officials cooperate with them. Why would anyone want to purposely help these people remain in the country undetected?

Yet there seems to be no rush in the Democrat-controlled House or Republican-controlled Senate to hold emergency votes on forcing states to comply with federal law, at least as it pertains to convicted criminal aliens. There has also been no rush to increase funding for ICE, even when Republicans controlled the House.

According to a new DHS inspector general report, “ICE does not have sufficient resources to arrest all at-large aliens, especially in uncooperative jurisdictions that often do not honor detainers and release criminal aliens.” It requires exponentially more resources and time to make at-large arrests of fugitives rather than transferring them in the controlled environment of a jail or prison. The IG found one instance, for example, where ICE had to dispatch “more than 20 officers to arrest three MS-13 gang members in a major metropolitan city” that didn’t honor detainers.

One thing is clear: Congress has the time to legislate every aspect of our lives and the funding for every pet project under the sun. But when it comes to the core federal job of removing foreign criminals from our communities, they are out of time and money. Pete Buttigieg Ends White House Bid

Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced he was ending the presidential campaign in which he made history as the first openly gay man to win delegates in the race for the nomination of a major political party.

His exit comes a day after his disappointing fourth-place finish in South Carolina and two days before Super Tuesday, when he was expected to continue to struggle amid the dominance of Sen. Bernie Sanders and resurgence of former Vice President Joe Biden. Buttigieg’s departure from the once-crowded field also comes a day after billionaire Tom Steyer suspended his campaign.

“A year ago, we launched our campaign for the American presidency,” Buttigieg said Sunday night to a packed room in South Bend, moments after his emotional husband Chasten had introduced him. “We began this unlikely journey with a staff of four in a cramped office right here in South Bend. Hardly anyone knew my name and even fewer could pronounce it.” . . .

“I will no longer seek to be the 2020 Democratic nominee for president, but I will do everything in my power to ensure that we have a new Democratic president come January.”

“Our goal has always been to help unify Americans to defeat Donald Trump, and to win the era for our values,” Buttigieg said. “So we must recognize that at this point in the race. The best way to keep faith with those goals and ideals, is to step aside and help bring our party and our country together. So tonight, I am making the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for the presidency.” (Read more from “Pete Buttigieg Ends White House Bid” HERE)

Corona Causes Stupidity Pandemic – Among Democrats

Politicians are known for exploiting tragedy, and no party has perfected this art more than Democrats. From shootings (name one and there’s always a Democrat there seeking to exploit it) to plane crashes (Paul Wellstone) and memorials (Elijah Cummings), Democrats are the ambulance chasing lawyers of the political world. If something bad happens, there will be a Democrat there trying to use it to their advantage. . .

But the United States has excellent care everywhere. While there is no “cure” for a virus, we have the ability to treat the symptoms more readily available than any other country in the world. And we also care to administer that care. Most of the rest of the world: not so much. . .

Dying from coronavirus is rare, the mortality rate is roughly 1-2 percent. Otherwise healthy people get sick with flu-like symptoms, then recover. The threat is to the elderly, particularly those with respiratory issues or other health problems.

You wouldn’t know any of this if you just listened to Democrats and their public relations arm in the media. To hear them tell it, we’re on the verge of a pandemic that will make the Walking Dead look like a Sunday picnic. . .

Instead, we get politicians hyperventilating, claiming the president hasn’t requested enough money to fight the disease. Not said is what the “extra” money Democrats insist is necessary is actually necessary for. Are there experts and labs out there that could find a treatment but they’re sitting idle because they don’t have any money? Are there more masks and antiseptics cluttering warehouses because the government doesn’t have the money to buy them? No. (Read more from “Corona Causes Stupidity to Go Viral” HERE)

No Surprise, Utah GOP Decides Not to Censure Romney

Instead of censuring Sen. Mitt Romney for his vote to impeach President Donald Trump, the Utah Republican State Central Committee decided Saturday simply to praise the president’s acquittal. . .

The 136 party leaders present from around the state, as part of five-hour meeting at the Salt Lake Board of Realtors building, debated proposals as extreme as calling for Romney’s resignation to as lenient as not even mentioning Romney as it expressed support for Trump.

The middle ground it actually took was passing a watered-down version of a resolution that now says “with zero evidence of a federal crime committed that rises to the level of removal of office, the U.S. Senate voted to fully acquit President Trump; Sen. Mike Lee voted to acquit while Sen. Mitt Romney voted to remove President Trump.”

The resolution expressed support for Trump’s acquittal, and thanked by name Lee and Utah GOP Reps. Chris Stewart, Rob Bishop and John Curtis for supporting the president. It added — in bold lettering — that, “We strongly disagree with the vote cast by Sen. Romney.”

It also added, “The Utah Republican Party calls on all Utah elected Republicans to work with President Trump to implement the conservative policies of the America First agenda that are helping our country succeed.” (Read more from “No Surprise, Utah GOP Decides Not to Censure Romney” HERE)

‘This Is Insane’: Piers Morgan Hits out at Transgender Athlete Laurel Hubbard

One of Britain’s highest-profile media figures has taken aim at Kiwi transgender athlete Laurel Hubbard’s potential participation at the Tokyo Olympics.

Hubbard kept her hopes of competing at Tokyo alive last month when she won the women’s super-heavyweight weightlifting contest at the Roma World Cup, the first Olympic qualifying event of the year.

Controversial media personality Piers Morgan, who has over seven million followers on Twitter, took issue with Hubbard’s potential participation in Japan.

“This is insane. Women’s rights to basic fairness & equality are getting destroyed at the altar of political correctness,” Morgan posted on Twitter.

“Trans women born with biological male bodies have a massive physical advantage against women born with female bodies in any sport where power & strength are significant factors. This shouldn’t be a contentious claim, it’s just a rather obvious fact.

We Need to Talk About Hillary Clinton’s Disturbing Harvey Weinstein Ties

In liberal establishment circles, not much is made of Hillary and Bill Clinton’s ties to Harvey Weinstein. The Clintons deny knowledge of Weinstein’s reputation in the industry, though there was a decades-long rumor mill in Hollywood and prolific whisper network amongst employees at Miramax and subsequently The Weinstein Company, where the producer enmeshed his assistants and executives in his sexual assault plots. But ahead of the March 6 Hulu release of the television docuseries Hillary, which was originally slated to be produced by Weinstein right up until the bombshell allegations against him were published by The New York Times and The New Yorker—and which conveniently overlooks their mutually beneficial relationship—it’s time to give their alliance a second look. (Full disclosure: I was a member of The New Yorker’s editorial team when Ronan Farrow’s initial reportage came out.)

Who politicians take money from, especially when those politicians are willing to seek out lavish donations and lip service from the rich, is of interest to the public; and by avoiding scrutiny into exactly what these politicians know about who they associate with, we condone a political system swept up in cynical corporatism as well as abuse. In response to an October 2017 follow-up story about the network of powerful enablers surrounding Weinstein, Hillary’s lawyer Robert Barnett told the Times that talks about the docuseries ceased once allegations about Weinstein were published, but it’s easy to imagine that the Clintons must have at least caught wind of these allegations, as well as the idea that they were likely to become public, much earlier. (On Feb. 24, a New York City jury found Weinstein guilty on one count of rape in the third degree and one count of a criminal sexual act.)

As many outlets have reported, Weinstein has strong ties to both the Clintons and the Obamas, as well as to the Democratic Party establishment overall. Weinstein has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democrats since the ‘90s, and has hosted fundraisers for candidates and even a birthday party for Hillary in 2000, during her candidacy for senator of New York. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was a Republican but is now in the race for the Democratic presidential primary, also had a “years long, mutually beneficial relationship” with Weinstein, as reported by Fox Business. (Bloomberg’s “company, through its male managers and employees from Chief Executive Officer Bloomberg on down, engaged in a pattern and practice of sexual harassment, sexual degradation of women,” according to one lawsuit; that multi-billion dollar corporation has had several women sign NDAs.) . . .

The Times has also reported that political allies tried to warn Hillary Clinton about his behavior. Both Lena Dunham and Tina Brown (former editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast) allege that they told Hillary’s aides about the stories going around about Weinstein—Brown says she did so in 2002, and Dunham in 2016, during Hillary’s presidential campaign. There’s also reporter Ronan Farrow’s claims to BuzzFeed that Hillary refused to meet with him about another, unrelated book once her team caught wind of his investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Weinstein.
