Face Transplant Recipient’s Donor Face Has Been Failing, Doctors Say

A woman who was severely burned in a domestic violence attack recently discovered that tissue damage uncovered by doctors likely will lead to the loss of her donor face. . .

More than 40 patients worldwide have received face transplants, including 15 in the United States. None of the American patients have lost their donor faces, but last year, a French man whose immune system rejected his donor face eight years after his first transplant underwent a second. . .

Tarleton’s doctors noted that most transplanted organs had limited life spans, but her situation has been a reminder that despite successes in the field, face transplantation has been experimental and still a young science with many unanswered questions about benefits versus long-term risks.

Dr. Brian Gastman, a transplant surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, which performed the first U.S. face transplant 11 years ago, said more patients are starting to experience chronic rejection. “We all believe every patient will likely need a retransplant” at some point, he said.

Since her transplant in February 2013, Tarleton has had repeated rejection episodes when her new face became swollen and red. Those episodes were successfully treated, but last month, physicians discovered that some blood vessels to her face had narrowed and closed, causing facial tissue to die. If the damage progressed slowly, she could go on the waitlist for another donor face. Under the worst-case scenario, the tissue would die quickly, and doctors would have to remove it and reconstruct her original face. Former Federal Prosecutors Now Going After Giuliani’s Law License (VIDEO)

By Law and Crime. Reports that President Donald Trump brazenly and repeatedly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to cooperate with Rudy Giuliani in investigating Hunter Biden have led even the more moderate legal experts to suggest that impeachment may be necessary. As the sordid details of Giuliani’s role in the alleged disinformation plot continue to mount, the backlash against the president’s personal lawyer has intensified, with at least one former federal prosecutor calling for him to be disbarred and another suggesting he may have opened himself up to criminally liability. . .

Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, responded to Giuliani by comparing him to a mafia underling following the orders of a crime boss.

“This how mafia bosses work. They make the ‘request’ & soldiers & capos (Rudy Giuliani) follow up with the demand,” she tweeted, before calling for the former New York City mayor to face more tangible consequences.

“Why is this man still a member of the NY a bar? He should not be. He is free as a [United States] citizen to make up stuff but not as member of the bar,” she wrote.

Rocah’s take on Giuliani was echoed by former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti, who categorized the ordeal as an affront to the office of the president. (Read more from “Former Federal Prosecutors Now Going After Giuliani’s Law License” HERE)

Fox News Host Confronts Guiliani, Asks If It Was ‘Appropriate’ to Look for ‘Dirt’ on Biden in Ukraine

By Newsweek. Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts confronted President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Guiliani over his travel to Ukraine, questioning whether it was “appropriate” for him to look for “dirt” on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the foreign country.

“When did this morph into an investigation of Joe Biden and [his son] Hunter Biden? And is it appropriate for you as a representative of the president to be going to Ukraine and finding dirt on Joe Biden and/or his son to use politically in 2020?” Roberts, who was guest hosting Fox News Sunday, asked.

“That’s the way you characterize it,” Guiliani, the former mayor of New York City, pushed back.

China’s Chilling ‘Concentration Camp’ Footage; China Has Already Lost the Trade War (VIDEO)

By Frank Chung. Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister has described chilling drone footage published online appearing to show hundreds of blindfolded and shackled men in China as “deeply disturbing”.

The footage appeares to show Uighur Muslim men at a train station being transferred, presumably to detention camps, by Chinese police.

Human rights groups accused China’s ruling Communist Party of holding up to one million mainly Uighur people in “concentration camps” in the northwest Xinjiang region. China vehemently denies the allegations.

The footage, which could not be independently verified, was published to YouTube last week by a newly created account calling itself War on Fear. Clips were also posted to Twitter by the handle @warcombatfear.

“Our aim is to fight fear,” the video description said.

Helen Raleigh: China Has Already Lost the Trade War. Here’s Why

By Fox News. China already lost in the trade war with the U.S. Although you will never hear Chinese authorities, especially President Xi Jinping, admit it as such, the evidence is everywhere and only becoming more compelling by the day.

Reuters recently reported that based on the Chinese government’s own data, China’s economic slowdown has worsened in August, with “growth in industrial production is at its weakest in 17-1/2 years amid spreading pain from a trade war with the United States and softening domestic demand. Retail sales and investment gauges worsened too.” Despite such poor readings, Premier Li Keqiang insists that China is still on track to achieve 6 to 6.5 per cent growth rate this year.

Given the Chinese government’s tendency to present a rosier economic picture to satisfy political goals, most China watchers believe that Li’s statement was an about-face, and that the actual economic situation is much worse.

Researchers at the Brookings Institute estimated that China had inflated its GDP growth rate by close to 2 percent every year between 2008-2016. So in reality, China hasn’t seen a 6 percent growth rate for nearly a decade (someone should send a copy of this to Premier Li). Moreover, the actual size of the Chinese economy was an estimated $10.9 trillion, 18 percent lower than the officially stated $13.4 trillion, as of 2018.

President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs struck the Chinese economy when it was already declining and the effects have been devastating. The tariffs have not only reduced imports from China , but also caused foreign companies to shift their supply chain out of China. Beijing had hoped that its stimulus measures, including tax cuts and easy credits to local governments and big businesses, would reduce or even eliminate anticipated negative impacts on the Chinese economy. However, the latest data are a wakeup call that those stimulus measures were not sufficient enough to absorb the blow from the trade war. Olympian Says Trans Women Will Break Every Female Sports Record If They’re Allowed to Compete

Every woman’s record in sports “will fall” if male athletes who identify as transgender women are allowed to compete in female sports, former Olympic athlete Rebecca Dussault said in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Forcing female athletes to compete against biological males will have a devastating effect on girls’ and women’s sports, which will in turn have a devastating effect on girls and women, Dussault, a skier, told the DCNF over the phone.

Her warning isn’t a hypothetical: Male athletes who identify as transgender have been piling up victories where allowed to compete in female events. Democrats in Congress and on the campaign have rallied behind the Equality Act, which would require schools to allow biologically male athletes into girls’ sports, if the male athletes identify as transgender.

“Once a male body has gone through puberty, they have received the benefits. So the skeletal form, lung capacity, muscle density, the greater length of levers in their body, their muscle-to-weight ratio, their capacity to deal with dehydration much better, narrower hips, I mean you name it — they are physiologically designed differently than women,” she said.

In addition to competing in the Olympics, Dussault won multiple world championships and runs a fitness training business with global reach from her home in Idaho. (Read more from “Olympian Says Trans Women Will Break Every Female Sports Record If They’re Allowed to Compete” HERE)

Hail to the Chief: Warren Steadily Surges in Democrat Primary

By Breitbart. Less than a year after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) declared herself vindicated for being less than two percent Native American, the former Harvard University professor is leading in multiple state and national polls for the 2020 Democrat nomination for president.

In the most recent Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll out of Iowa, Warren took the lead with 22 percent of Democrat primary voters for the first time. Former Vice President Joe Biden, meanwhile, fell to second place with 20 percent, while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) trailed in third with 11 percent.

When Democrat primary voters were asked who their second choice for president would be, Warren gained 20 percent of voters for a combined first and second choice tally of 42 percent. Biden, on the other hand, is only the second choice for about ten percent of voters, while Sanders about doubles his prospects.

Warren had led hugely against her Democrat contenders in an Iowa Starting Line-Change Research poll from August. In that poll, Warren surged past Biden and Sanders by 11 points, earning nearly 30 percent of support overall. . .

Warren’s surge in Iowa, though, has been met with confrontation from some farmers in the agricultural state who vehemently oppose the Green New Deal, which she has endorsed. In one conversation, an Iowa farmer confronted Warren over her support for the plan, which he said would cripple his industry because of its goals to eliminate cows. A Record Share of Voters Dislike Trump Personally, but Democrats Face Challenges of Their Own

By NBC News. As Democratic candidates compete for the opportunity to take on President Donald Trump, the incumbent they hope to oust is more personally disliked than any of his recent predecessors, and half of voters say they’re very uncomfortable with the idea of his re-election.

But the electorate at large also expresses doubts about some of the progressive policies being backed by candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and the party’s more moderate frontrunner — Joe Biden — also faces questions about his fitness for the job.

Those are the major findings in the latest release from the September NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, which also shows that 46 percent of Americans give Trump credit for what they call an improving economy, the highest share of his presidency.

“The Democrats want a referendum on Trump. The GOP wants a comparative choice. And therein lies the rub,” said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff and his firm Public Opinion Strategies. U.S. Man Who Joined ISIS Says He Is Sorry, Wants to Come Home (VIDEO)

A Minnesota man who joined ISIS and was captured fighting in Syria says he is sorry for his actions and wants to come home, even if it means facing federal charges.

Abdelhamid Al-Madioum grew up in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and graduated from high school in suburban Minneapolis. According to WCCO-TV reporter Holly Williams, who found him in a prison in Northeastern Syria.

According to United States authorities, Al-Madioum slipped away from his family while he was on vacation in Morocco and took a solo flight to Istanbul, where he then traveled to Iraq, where he joined up with ISIS.

Al-Madioum says he was shown ISIS propaganda films via an ISIS twitter recruitment program where they promised to help refugees fleeing Syria. He claims, implausibly, that he joined ISIS for humanitarian reasons. “I will be very honest with you, I thought I was going to come and help people,” Al-Madioum told Williams. . .

According to Williams, Al-Madioum expressed a desire to return home to the United States, even though he is aware that he faces federal charges and a potentially lengthy prison sentence in the United States upon his return. He also had a message for his parents: “Mom and Dad, I am really, really sorry for hurting you guys, and you guys came to America seeking a better life, not for yourselves, but for me. I hope that you will be able to forgive me.” (Read more from”U.S. Man Who Joined ISIS Says He Is Sorry, Wants to Come Home” HERE)

Alleged 2016 Election Interference: Senator Calls for Investigation Into Biden Ukraine-Connection (VIDEO)

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called on Sunday for the Department of Justice to investigate “all things Ukraine” after a scandal involving Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has made national news in recent days.

The Republican appeared on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo where he called for the DOJ to investigate the Biden-Ukraine connection the same way that the DOJ investigated the Trump-Russia connection.

“Joe Biden said everybody’s looked at this and found nothing,” Graham said. “Who is everybody? Nobody’s looked at the Ukraine and the Bidens. Nobody’s looked at the role the Ukraine played in the 2016 election.”

“Do you think the media in America would really look at it and report on it if there was something bad for the Bidens or are they unduly interfered in the 2016 election?” Graham continued. “I’m calling for somebody in the Justice Department to look at all things Ukraine. We have looked at all things Russia and Trump, his family, everything about his family, every transaction between the Trump campaign and Russia.” Graham said.

“Now it’s time to see whether or not the Ukrainians released information regarding Manafort, who was Trump’s campaign manager. What relationships, if any, did the Biden world have to the Ukraine,” Graham continued. “What role, if any, did the Ukraine play in the 2016 election? So nobody’s looked at this, but somebody should. So I’m hoping the Department of Justice will look at the Biden-Ukraine connection like we looked at the Trump-Russia connection.”

Report: This Could Possibly Be the U.S. Response to Saudi Oil Attacks (VIDEO)

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared Iran’s attacks on Saudi Arabia last weekend to be “an act of war” on Sunday, suggesting that the United States is willing to significantly ramp up its aggression towards Iran.

Pompeo’s remarks came in response to Iran launching attacks against Saudi oil sites, which knocked out 5% of the global oil supply. Fox News reported that U.S. officials indicated that “Iranian cruise missiles and drones were both used in the attack on the two Saudi Arabian oil facilities, and that they were fired from inside southwest Iran.”

Pompeo told CBS News’ “Face The Nation” that it was “a sophisticated attack” and that “the United States will respond in a way that reflects that act of war by this Iranian revolutionary regime.”

“This was an attack by Iran on the world. This was an act of war,” Pompeo continued, noting that it was “the largest attack on the global energy supply I think in all of recorded history.”

Pompeo told host Margaret Brennan that the U.S. is prepared to respond in a way that “reflects that act of war by this Iranian revolutionary regime” and “we’re prepared to do the things we need to do to try to deter Iran from this kind of behavior.”

Churches Burned and Worshippers Killed in Ethiopia’s Ethnic Carnage

Over a year after the ascent of a new prime minister in Ethiopia bred hope for reform, bursting ethnic tensions are sending the country into a spiral of violence that is leaving churches and worshippers subject to property damage and murder.

Thirty churches, mostly Ethiopian Orthodox, have been attacked, 18 have been burned to the ground, and almost 100 worshippers have been killed since July 2018, Tewodros Tirfe, chairman of the Amhara Association of America, an organization that advocates on behalf of Ethiopia’s Amhara people, told the Washington Examiner. Christians and non-Christians alike have been caught up in the crossfire of heightened ethnic and political violence. Earlier this month, Ethiopian Orthodox Church leaders and government officials met, while Christians protested the violence directed at them.

The protests and meetings have yet to produce a concrete plan of action from the government, although they are a major problem for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who has struggled to control violence among the country’s roughly 80 ethnic groups, despite inspiring optimism across the world when he assumed office last April.

Vice President Mike Pence praised Abiy last July, lauding his “historic reform efforts” and noting his work on “improving respect for human rights, reforming the business environment, and making peace with Eritrea.” Abiy oversaw the release of hundreds of political prisoners, and a CNN report from December labeled him the prime minister “who captured Africa’s imagination.” . . .

Ethiopia’s political structure and geography reinforces these ethnic divisions, as state boundaries roughly coincide with ethnic boundaries. Ethiopia is also surrounded by countries such as Somalia, Eritrea, and Sudan, which are dealing with terrorism and other forms of political violence. As Ethiopia has witnessed a breakdown of internal security, Horne noted the country’s border has also grown more porous, allowing small arms to enter the country and make ethnic conflict deadlier. About 3 million people are internally displaced from conflict, more than anywhere else in the world. (Read more from “Churches Burned and Worshippers Killed in Ethiopia’s Ethnic Carnage” HERE)

WATCH: Biden Freaks out on Fox News Reporter; “Biden’s Campaign Likely Coming to an End”

By Townhall. During Saturday’s Steak Fry at the Iowa State Fair, former Vice President Joe Biden snapped at Fox News’ Peter Doocy for not “asking the right question.”

The Fox News reporter asked Biden about a whistleblower’s claims that President Donald Trump repeatedly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Hunter Biden, who sits on the board of directors of a Ukrainian gas company. The claims came from a whistleblower[.]. . .

“Trump is doing this because he knows I’ll beat him like a drum and he’s using the abuses of power and every element of the presidency to try and smear me. Everybody’s looked at it and said nothing is there,” Biden told other reporters and cameras.

“Ask the right question,” Biden told Doocy.

Biden’s campaign likely coming to an end — thanks to Clinton-linked Ukraine bombshell, Nunes says

By Fox News. California Rep. Devin Nunes predicted on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that Joe Biden’s campaign is likely coming to an end — all because of newly resurfaced reports about his possible misconduct in Ukraine that “first originated back when Hillary Clinton was trying to make sure Biden didn’t get in the race.”

The top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee made the claim as The Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll showed Sen. Elizabeth Warren surging ahead of Biden as the first choice of 22 percent of the voters surveyed, while Biden was the first choice of 20 percent of the voters. Biden held a 9-point lead over Warren in the poll as recently as June.

Nunes, speaking to anchor Maria Bartiromo, said a whistleblower’s allegation that President Trump had acted inappropriately during a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will ultimately backfire, and shine a light on Biden’s own possible misconduct. CNN later acknowledged that the whistleblower had no first-hand knowledge of the call, and a top Ukrainian official on Saturday defended Trump’s actions.

“These stories first originated back when Hillary Clinton was trying to make sure Biden didn’t get in the race,” Nunes said. “So now that these have been resurrected, I don’t know who came up with the scheme — maybe this whistleblower really is not a partisan. We want to hear from that whistleblower, but it sure looks like the scheme has backfired. And, like I said, it looks like this is the end of Biden’s campaign. I really do… his lead is basically down to zero.” (Read more from “Biden’s campaign likely coming to an end — thanks to Clinton-linked Ukraine bombshell, Nunes says” HERE)
