Your Morning Coffee Mess Could Help Detect Deadly Diseases in Minutes

Have you ever noticed how a spilled cup of coffee leaves behind a telltale brown ring?

While those stains might be annoying, the science behind them, known as the coffee ring effect, has sparked innovations in health technology.

UC Berkeley researchers recently turned this everyday phenomenon into a breakthrough medical test, making rapid and reliable disease detection as easy as brewing your morning coffee. Curious how a simple coffee stain could inspire cutting-edge diagnostics and revolutionize at-home testing? Let’s look at how a forgotten mug on your desk might just save lives. . .

Ever wondered why spilled coffee, wine or tea dries in a ring rather than evenly? This common pattern is known as the “coffee ring effect.” The phenomenon occurs because of the liquid’s surface tension. As the drop begins to dry, water at the edges evaporates more quickly since that area is thinner. To keep up, liquid from the center flows outward, carrying tiny particles with it. Once the drop is completely dry, these particles settle along the edge, creating the signature ring stain you see on tables and countertops every day.

Surprisingly, that annoying coffee ring on your table has inspired a major breakthrough in medical technology. Researchers at UC Berkeley transformed this everyday nuisance into a powerful new at-home diagnostic test. This innovative test can identify diseases like COVID-19, prostate cancer and sepsis with remarkable accuracy. In fact, it is up to 100 times more sensitive than many current rapid tests. Even better, it delivers results in just twelve minutes, depending on the test. (Read more from “Your Morning Coffee Mess Could Help Detect Deadly Diseases in Minutes” HERE)

Pilot with ‘Ideological Motive’ Hijacks Small Aircraft, Forces Major Airport Shutdown

A stolen plane triggered a major security incident at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Tuesday afternoon, temporarily halting operations and forcing multiple flights to reroute.

Just before 1:30 p.m. local time on July 15, a “security incident” involving a small private plane led to a temporary halt in airport operations, according to a statement from YVR. The plane, flying within YVR’s airspace, forced nine incoming flights to reroute to different airports.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., following a 39-minute air traffic suspension, the Cessna 172, operated by a single individual, safely landed. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) then apprehended the pilot.

In an air traffic control recording obtained by the Vancouver Sun via LiveATC.net, a controller alerted other pilots: “We do have an aircraft that has been hijacked and is in the vicinity of the airport … just in case anything starts heading toward [you], you have the ability to move at your discretion.”

“They are currently flying overhead,” a voice from air traffic control can be heard saying. “At this time, I have no further updates. We have the aircraft in visual range—please stand by for further instructions.” (Read more from “Pilot with ‘Ideological Motive’ Hijacks Small Aircraft, Forces Major Airport Shutdown” HERE)

Chinese Spy Stole U.S. Missile Blueprints

A dual US-Chinese national pleaded guilty on Monday to stealing American missile secrets.

Chenguang Gong, a 59-year-old engineer, transferred more than 3,600 files from an unnamed “research and development company” in Los Angeles, where he worked, to personal storage devices last year, according to the US Department of Justice.

Among the transferred files, which were found at Gong’s home in Southern California, were “blueprints for sophisticated infrared sensors designed for use in space-based systems to detect nuclear missile launches and track ballistic and hypersonic missiles”, according to the Justice Department.

There were also blueprints for sensors that can enable military aircraft to “detect incoming heat-seeking missiles and take countermeasures”, such as by jamming the missiles’ infrared tracking ability.

The transfer also included documents relating to the development of “next generation” sensors, which can detect low observable targets as well as the blueprints for the “mechanical assemblies”, which were used to house and cool the company’s own sensors. Packed Flight’s Engine Bursts into Flames Shortly after Takeoff in Terrifying Video

A Delta Air Lines flight experienced an apparent engine fire shortly after departing from California earlier this week.

On Friday, July 18, Delta flight 446 took off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) but was forced to return and make a safe landing at approximately 2:10 p.m. local time, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Video published by YouTube channel L.A. Flights shows visible flames coming from the plane’s left engine soon after takeoff.

In the recording, Josh, one of the channel’s co-owners, can be heard expressing concern over the fire.

“WOAH, look at that! Woah, what’s going on? That’s not good guys,” Josh can be heard commentating in the video as the fire is shown. (Read more from “Packed Flight’s Engine Bursts into Flames Shortly after Takeoff in Terrifying Video” HERE)

Justice Department Wants to Interview Jeffrey Epstein’s Former Girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell

The Department of Justice wants to interview Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of helping the financier sexually abuse underage girls and is now serving a lengthy prison sentence, a senior official said Tuesday.

If Maxwell “has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a post on X, adding that President Donald Trump ”has told us to release all credible evidence.” A lawyer for Maxwell confirmed there were discussions with the government.

The overture to attorneys for Maxwell, who in 2022 was sentenced to 20 years in prison, is part of an ongoing Justice Department effort to cast itself as transparent following fierce backlash from parts of Trump’s base over an earlier refusal to release additional records in the Epstein investigation.

As part of that effort, the Justice Department, acting at the direction of the Republican president, last week asked a judge to unseal grand jury transcripts from the case. That decision is ultimately up to the judge. (Read more from “Justice Department Wants to Interview Jeffrey Epstein’s Former Girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell” HERE)

Horror Story Emerges from Surrogate Who Confirms Gay Couple Demanded a Dead Baby

A horror story worthy of Edgar Allen Poe or Stephen King has been documented by Lila Rose, the noted pro-life activist who runs Live Action, among other endeavors.

It involves two homosexual men who contracted with a surrogate for a baby, but when she needed to deliver early because of a cancer diagnosis, they insisted that their “property” die.

A report at Not The Bee explained the sequence of events triggered by a gay duo who “boldly nominated themselves for the Most Hideously Evil Monsters of the Year Award.”

It documented how the homosexuals could not force the surrogate to abort, but once the baby was born, it became their “property.” They simply allowed no life-saving efforts at all, and the baby died. Showdown: Trump DOJ Has Responded to the Federal Judges Who Tried to Boot One of His Prosecutors

As Sarah wrote earlier today, federal judges in New Jersey tried to boot interim US Attorney Alina Habba. They refused to extend her interim term, and other shenanigans were happening in the backdrop[.]. .

Well, Ms. Grace won’t be the next interim US Attorney for New Jersey since Attorney General Pam Bondi fired her today. The reason: the Trump DOJ does not tolerate the extrajudicial antics of rogue judges (via ABC News):

The Justice Department on Tuesday said it fired Desiree Leigh Grace as the newly appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, hours after federal judges in the state chose her over President Donald Trump’s pick, Alina Habba.

The announcement came after federal judges in New Jersey opted not to appoint Habba, Trump’s former personal attorney, as the state’s top federal prosecutor on a permanent basis. Trump appointed Habba as the state’s acting U.S. attorney in March.

“This Department of Justice does not tolerate rogue judges — especially when they threaten the President’s core Article II powers,” Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X in announcing Grace’s firing.

Obama’s Office Responds to Trump’s Accusation of Treason: ‘Outrageous’

Former President Barack Obama’s office claims that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) report indicating senior officials in the Obama administration orchestrated the “Russia Collusion” hoax after President Donald Trump was elected, is “outrageous.”

Obama spokesman Patrick Rodenbush issued a statement challenging the report released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Friday, according to a screenshot from the Hill White House columnist Niall Stanage.

The ODNI report found “overwhelming evidence that demonstrates how, after President Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, President Obama and his national security cabinet members manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Trump,” per a release from Gabbard’s office.

Rodenbush heavily denied the allegations in the report:

Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response. But these claims are outrageous and merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.

Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. These findings were affirmed by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.

Illegal Alien Charged for Staging a Kidnapping and Attempting to Frame ICE

A wild plot out of California has landed an illegal immigrant in court after being accused of orchestrating a fake kidnapping and falsely pointing the finger at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Authorities say the suspect staged the entire scenario, allegedly to vilify federal immigration officers and manipulate public sentiment.

Julie Calderon, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, allegedly pretended ICE took her in a Jack in the Box parking lot. The “kidnapping” hoax involved a fake press conference, police report, and GoFundMe account. Calderon was found roaming free after convincing leftwing activists that she was in custody.

In July, the Los Angeles Police Department officially closed the missing persons case involving activist Claudia Calderon, who was reported missing on June 25. Just days after her alleged disappearance, supporters held a press conference claiming she had been kidnapped from a fast-food restaurant parking lot in South L.A. by unidentified men in unmarked vehicles, possibly “bounty hunters.” Calderon later claimed she had been held in a warehouse near the U.S.-Mexico border, where she said she used borrowed phones to make two calls and was allegedly pressured to sign self-deportation papers.
