FDA Commissioner Faces Pressure to Limit Abortion Pill After Study Finds Increased Risks

U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Martin Makary’s deeply rooted belief in data-based decision making could be put to the test after a new study found that mifepristone, the drug responsible for more than half of the nation’s abortions, is more dangerous than previously known.

Makary told PBS’ Amna Nawaz at Semafor’s World Economy Summit over the weekend that “I have no plans to take action on mifepristone.” He did, however, hint that “here is an ongoing set of data that is coming into the FDA on mifepristone” that could change the agency’s position on the pill.

“So, if the data suggests something or tells us that there’s a real signal, we can’t promise we’re not going to act on that data,” Makary continued.

Four days later, a new study showed that the rate of life-threatening complications due to mifepristone is at least 22 times higher than what the FDA and Danco Laboratories, the manufacturer of the drug, indicate on its label.

The researchers at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, who successfully completed the “largest known study of the abortion pill,” emphasized that the “FDA should reinstate the original patient safety protocols that were required when mifepristone was first approved.” (Read more from “FDA Commissioner Faces Pressure to Limit Abortion Pill After Study Finds Increased Risks” HERE)

Embracing MAHA, PepsiCo to Move Away from Artificial Dyes in Snack Foods

The Trump administration’s Make America Healthy Again agenda is moving forward after PepsiCo Inc., one of the nation’s largest producers of processed snack foods, announced this week it would be phasing out artificial dyes from many of its products by the end of the year.

In addition to its eponymously named cola soft drinks, PepsiCo produces many popular brands of snack foods and beverages, including Doritos, Cheetos, Fritos, Tostitos, Lay’s, Gatorade, and Mountain Dew, among others.

“We’ve been leading the transformation of the industry now for a long time on sodium reduction, sugar reduction, and better fats,” PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta said in a conference call on April 24.

“When we talk about the U.S. food business, 60%-plus of our [portfolio] today doesn’t have any artificial colors, so we’re undergoing that transition,” Laguarta explained. “For example, brands like Lay’s will be out of artificial colors by the end of this year, and the same with Tostitos—some of our big brands. So we’re well underway.”

PepsiCo’s move comes after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced at an April 22 news conference that he would be taking action against petroleum-based synthetic dyes in the American food supply. RFK Jr. Says Diabetes, Chronic Illnesses Pose ‘Existential Threat’ — Not Measles Outbreak: ‘Should Be Getting the Headlines’

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. argued Wednesday that the media should pay more attention to diabetes and autism –- not measles outbreaks –- as an “existential threat” to the nation’s health.

“I want to say this, we’ve had four measles deaths in this country in 20 years. We have 100,000 autism cases a year. We have 38% of our kids now are diabetic or pre-diabetic. That should be in the headlines,” the HHS head said at a NewsNation town hall hosted by Chris Cuomo.

Kennedy said the media “never” covers the rates of autism or diabetes increasing, and they “only want to cover measles.”

“What I’ve been saying to people is, let’s pay attention to other illnesses as well, the illnesses that are really, really damaging our country, that are existential for our country.”

“Seventy-four percent of our kids cannot qualify for military service, so this is an existential threat to our national security,” the HHS secretary explained of the risks of rising chronic disease. China Makes Stunning Accusation About Which Country Should Be Blamed for COVID Outbreak

China pointed its finger at the United States for originating COVID-19 on Wednesday, claiming America was attempting to “shift the blame” after President Trump declared the deadly disease was leaked from a Wuhan lab.

The communist regime argued that “substantial evidence” suggested that COVID might have come from the US earlier than the outbreak in China while insisting the lab leak theory was “extremely unlikely” in a white paper.

“The US government, instead of facing squarely its failure in response to Covid-19 and reflecting on its shortcomings, has tried to shift the blame and divert people’s attention by shamelessly politicizing SARS-CoV-2 origins tracing,” Chinese officials complained.

The report also claimed COVID-19 was circulating around the US earlier than it was officially determined.

The Chinese accusations come after the White House revamped its COVID-19 information earlier this month to push out the assertion that COVID-19 leaked out of a lab in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Ukraine Signs Rare Earth Minerals Agreement With U.S.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that Ukraine has signed a “historic economic partnership agreement” with the United States that establishes the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund and allows the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.

In a press release from the Department of the Treasury, Bessent praised President Donald Trump’s “tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace” in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

“Thanks to President Trump’s tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace, I am glad to announce the signing of today’s historic economic partnership agreement between the United States and Ukraine establishing the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund,” Bessent said in a statement. “As the President has said, the United States is committed to helping facilitate the end of this cruel and senseless war. This agreement signals clearly to Russia that the Trump administration is committed to a peace process centered on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine over the long term.”

Per the press release, the agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. positions both countries to “work collaboratively and invest together to ensure” their “mutual assets, talents, and capabilities can accelerate Ukraine’s economic recovery”:

In recognition of the significant financial and material support that the people of the United States have provided to the defense of Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion, this economic partnership positions our two countries to work collaboratively and invest together to ensure that our mutual assets, talents, and capabilities can accelerate Ukraine’s economic recovery.

Supreme Court Signals Support for Allowing Nation’s First Public Religious Charter School

Amajority of U.S. Supreme Court justices signaled their support for allowing the establishment of the country’s first public religious charter school on Wednesday.

The matter first came to fruition in fall 2023, when the Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board entered into a contract with St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School. According to The Federalist Society, the agreement made the latter the “first religious public virtual charter school in the nation.”

This prompted Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, a Republican, to sue the Statewide Charter School Board in the state Supreme Court, in which he alleged that the board’s sponsorship of St. Isidore is “unlawful” because “Oklahoma’s Constitution disallows sectarian control of its public schools and the support of sectarian practices — indirect or otherwise.” The Sooner State’s high court agreed with Drummond, nullifying the contract on the grounds that it violated the Oklahoma Constitution and the U.S. Constitution’s establishment clause.

The Trump Justice Department filed an amicus brief with SCOTUS in support of the school last month. U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer represented the administration during oral arguments before the high court on Wednesday.

St. Isidore is seeking the votes of at least five justices to overturn the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s decision — an objective made more difficult by Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s recusal from the case. Should the justices deadlock in a 4-4 vote, the Oklahoma high court’s ruling would stand. America’s Most Famous Scientist Sparks Outrage Among Liberals After MAGA Post

One of America’s most famous scientists shocked the social media universe Monday after appearing with a Make America Great Again hat in his hands.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, the famed astrophysicist, writer, and media personality, stoked a political whirlwind after asking his followers which of four red hats he should wear this week.

All four had different sayings on them, but one was the classic pro-Trump MAGA hat that has triggered opponents of the president’s agenda to do everything from bully wearers verbally to physically assault them in public.

Dr Tyson, who has a history of keeping his voting preferences private, was also holding hats that said ‘Make America Smart Again,’ ‘Make Lying Wrong Again,’ and ‘Relax It’s Just A Red Hat.’

The post shocked many of Tyson’s fans online, as the 66-year-old has been outspoken about his liberal stance on several issues, including transgender rights, climate change awareness, and keeping religious beliefs out of government decision-making. Christian Family Says School District Won’t Allow Daughter to Graduate Over LGBTQ Health Class

A star student at a Maryland high school is being denied graduation next month due to what her family says is religious discrimination.

The student, whom Fox News Digital is calling “Jane” to protect her privacy, is a senior in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), who excels academically and is actively involved in her school. According to her parents and academic records, she is a leader in multiple extracurricular activities at her school, holds a 4.76 weighted GPA and received a 1450 (96th percentile) on her SATs.

However, she cannot graduate without completing a mandatory health course, which her parents say has “LGBTQ+ affirming” and “religiously discriminatory” content they find objectionable due to their deeply held Christian faith.

Jane’s family told Fox News Digital that they have been fighting for over two years for their daughter to be granted an opt-out from the course or be allowed to take an alternative class at a private school or do independent study under a teacher of their choosing to meet this requirement, to no avail.

“She’s pretty distraught about not being able to graduate with all her friends and experience that rite of passage,” her father said. (Read more from “Christian Family Says School District Won’t Allow Daughter to Graduate Over LGBTQ Health Class” HERE)

Stunning Japan Railgun Breakthrough Has the U.S. Navy Asking Tough Questions

Japan is successfully advancing its electromagnetic railgun program, with ongoing ship-based tests aboard the JS Asuka showcasing the weapon’s potential.

-Designed to counter hypersonic missiles and saturation attacks, the railgun fires projectiles at Mach 6+ speeds using electricity. . .

Japan’s efforts to build and develop an electromagnetic railgun, a futuristic weapon that fires projectiles using electricity, appear to have been successful.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) released an image of its state-of-the-art railgun on April 18. It is currently undergoing testing aboard the test ship JS Asuka.

The Japanese ship-mounted railgun offers a cost-effective and rapid response to potential missile saturation threats by utilizing electromagnetic energy to launch projectiles at hypersonic velocities. In this case, it would be to defend itself against Chinese and Russian hypersonic missiles. (Read more from “Stunning Japan Railgun Breakthrough Has the U.S. Navy Asking Tough Questions” HERE)

After Lying About Biden’s Obvious Senility, Corrupt Journos Lie About The Cover-Up

On Saturday, Axios reporter Alex Thompson stood before a room full of preening press elites at the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner and suggested the media was duped about then-President Joe Biden’s cognitive state. Thompson’s remarks presented Biden’s vacant stares, incoherent mumbling, and frequent confusion as some sort of masterclass in deception.

Thompson’s message was clear: Don’t blame us — we were lied to. But this isn’t just revisionist history, it’s a second-order lie. The press wasn’t fooled — it was complicit.

“President Biden’s decline and its cover-up by the people around him is a reminder that every White House, regardless of party, is capable of deception,” Thomas said to the room of self-congratulatory “journalists.”

“We, myself included, missed a lot of this story,” Thompson said. “Some people trust us less because of it. … We should have done better.”

For a fleeting moment, let’s extend the benefit of the doubt to Thompson and assume the entire corporate press really was fooled by what anyone with eyes could see. If that’s true, they should all resign in disgrace anyway because anyone that oblivious, that incurious, and that easily manipulated is even less competent than we thought.
