Dem Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar Propose Slashing Homeland Security Funds

A group of newly elected far-left congresswomen want to slash funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the primary U.S. agency tasked with border security.

“Cut, do not increase funding” to the DHS, reads a bolded section of a “Dear Colleague” letter that was obtained Thursday by The Daily Beast.

The four-member letter is signed by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., anti-Semitic, pro-Islamist Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.

In justifying their proposal, the group claims that “a number of agencies housed at DHS have abused their authority and the fidelity of public resources.”

“Funds are being allocated internally not to make our nation safer, but to build desert camps to inhumanely house infants and to prosecute immigrants who are part of the fabric of our community,” the memo claims.

Nowhere in the letter do the four congressional Democrats address actual border security issues or the illegal migration crisis that is negatively impacting the lives of millions of American citizens. Trump Did NOT Cave

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer couldn’t contain their glee when the President agreed last week to a short term continuing resolution to reopen the government for three weeks. But this was not a win for the Democrats and no one should interpret it that way. First, only a few agencies were shut down, so the constant hyping of the shutdown by the media was a deliberate effort to magnify the problem to assist their Democrat allies.

But since one of the agencies was the Department of Homeland Security, it not only forced the Border Patrol to work without pay, but began creating problems for travelers as TSA personnel began skipping work. Those people who did skip work — about 10 percent of the workforce — did not do that independently. You can be sure they got the green light from their union, the American Federation of Government Employees , which coordinated with congressional Democrats (read Pelosi & Schumer), to ramp up pressure on the president.

Of course this is yet another way Democrats demonstrate their utter disregard for the American people. They knew that a disruption in travel plans would make another great optic for their media allies, who had already begun hyping the “soup kitchen” narrative. Meanwhile, realizing the publicity opportunity, or perhaps wanting to stick it to President Trump, or both, DC restaurants began offering free food to those poor government workers! Restaurant Bans MAGA Hat and Customers Are Not Happy

With MAGA hat-wearing Catholic high school students getting branded hate-mongers for “smirking” and news analysts admitting on air that when they see the iconic red hat all they see is a white hood, one award-winning San Francisco restaurant owner has taken the inevitable next step by announcing that he will refuse service to anyone who dares wear the Make America Great Again hat at his establishment.

“It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate,” J. Kenji López-Alt announced on social media Sunday. “MAGA hats are like white hoods except stupider because you can see exactly who is wearing them,” he added. . .

Despite the overwhelmingly liberal leaning of the area, the restaurant’s stance was “was met with a mixed reaction from some of his diners this week,” the Chronicle reports, though most of the quotes it got from customers are negative.

One customer, who was dining at the restaurant for her second time, told the outlet, “I see where he’s coming from, but I don’t think you should just keep people out because of a hat. I get that idea, that maybe that hat could mean the person wearing it is just looking for a fight, but just cutting off dialogue, not giving a chance to get to know someone — I just don’t know if that’s something I would do.” . . .

A male customer likewise didn’t like the MAGA hat ban policy, telling the outlet, “I don’t think it matters to me about the rule, but the hat doesn’t just tell you all about the person. Robber Points Gun at Family Dollar Employees — His Last Mistake Was Ignoring an Armed Customer Behind Him

A suspected robber is dead after allegedly trying to rob a Family Dollar in Dekalb County, Georgia, and ignoring the customer who was armed behind him during the altercation.

The attempted robbery occurred on Tuesday morning when a man walked into the discount store and pointed a gun at two employees.

While one employee was handing over money to the robber, a customer walked from the back of the store to the front, and witnessed the robber pointing his gun at the employee’s head.

He then pulled his own gun out and shot the robber several times. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. . .

Police say the customer who killed the would-be robber will not be charged with any crime. They are hailing him as a “good Samaritan” for stopping the robbery and possibly saving the lives of many people. Record Fentanyl Seizure at Border

Customs officers stationed at the commercial border crossing in Nogales made the largest fentanyl seizure ever recorded at any port of entry in the United States the day after President Donald Trump signed a bill putting an end to the longest government shutdown in history.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a canine officer alerted other officers to the presence of 254 pounds of fentanyl inside a hidden floor compartment of an 18-wheeler carrying cucumbers, during a secondary inspection at the Mariposa port of entry just past noon on Saturday. . .

He noted just how deadly that amount can be in very small doses. The synthetic opioid is 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Saturday’s bust contained enough fentanyl to kill more than 115 million people, according to investigators in the case. That’s the equivalent of a third of the entire U.S. population.

In addition to the fentanyl, officers also seized 395 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the compartment in the 18-wheeler.That was the third largest seizure of its kind along the Arizona border, CBP said. WATCH: Trailer for Pro-Life Film ‘Unplanned’ Is Finally Here, and Planned Parenthood Is NOT Going to Like It

The trailer for the highly-anticipated pro-life film “Unplanned: The True Story of Abby Johnson” has finally arrived.

The film focuses on former Planned Parenthood executive Abby Johnson. Once the youngest clinic director in the nation and the abortion company’s 2008 employee of the year, Johnson had a dramatic change of heart and became one of the most prominent whistleblowers in the abortion giant’s history. . .

In her memoir, Johnson recalled the horrifying moment that changed her life forever: “For the briefest moment, the baby looked as if it were being wrung like a dishcloth, twirled and squeezed. And then it crumpled and began disappearing into the cannula before my eyes,” she wrote. “The last thing I saw was the tiny, perfectly formed backbone sucked into the tube, and then it was gone.” . . .

The film stars “War Room” actress Ashley Bratcher, playing Johnson. Appearing on “Fox & Friends” last year, Bratcher revealed that her mother informed her during filming that she was almost aborted. “I need to tell you something that I’ve never told you before. I was going to abort you,” her mother told her, the actress said. . .

“I’m grateful that God, through His providence, planted me here to tell my story — and that I have the privilege of sharing this film with the world,” Bratcher said. “And yes, I do secretly hope that one of the outcomes of all of these ‘coincidences’ is that many will find the courage my mother found when she listened to her conscience and made the choice that gave me life.”

Girl Scout Leader Said Someone Stole the Cookie Money. She Lied.

. . .Jessica Medina, a volunteer leader, told police that a possibly disguised man took the envelope containing $500 cash and multiple checks off the table. She said the envelope had been left unattended but that the theft must have been captured on mall security cameras. She also said the thief was a man walking with an elderly woman using a red walker, according to NBC.

Police interviewed parents and anyone else who were helping to sell cookies that day, and discovered that the money envelope was actually “kept in a secure cash box and was never left out on the table,” NBC reported. Police also talked to the man traveling with the elderly woman and determined they were not suspects. The alleged theft was not captured on mall security cameras.

Medina then changed her story after police spoke to her again, now suggesting the envelope was accidentally thrown out after the cookie sale. . .

“Today, the Woodbridge Police Department announced that an exhaustive investigation into the alleged theft of Girl Scout cookie monies has concluded with a finding of insufficient evidence to support the theft allegation as initially reported by our troop leader,” the statement said.

“We are surprised and very saddened at this turn of events. The Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey expects the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and ethical behavior from our volunteers, in keeping with our mission, our values, and our Girl Scout Promise and Laws. It’s Time to Designate the Mexican Cartels as Terrorist Organizations

Imagine for a moment that groups of Islamic terrorists set up shop at our border, killed tens of thousands of Mexicans, mutilated bodies, controlled a flow of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants every year over our border, and flooded our country with drugs and gangs. These organizations, in our “hypothetical,” operate in over 40 countries, are flush with weapons, money, and military-style tactics, control operations inside our country, and bring in drugs like fentanyl and carfentanil that are essentially chemical weapons.

Try to picture the reaction of our government under that circumstance.

Now look at the reality. All of this is happening at our border and in our communities, with one exception. The perpetrators are not Islamic terrorists. It’s time for Trump to designate the Mexican cartels, such as Sinaloa, Zetas, Juarez, Jalisco, Gulf, La Familia Michoacán (LFM), and Los Guerreros Unidos (LGU), as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs).

Although many of these groups have already been designated as Transnational Criminal Organizations, we will not be able to defend our national integrity and security with the tools we have, such as special operations strikes, until they are designated as terrorists.

These ain’t your grandfather’s drug cartels

Jaeson Jones, who spent 24 years with Texas Department of Public Safety’s intelligence and counterterrorism division, has studied and fought the cartels for his entire career and regularly speaks with cartel informants. He told me that “the term Transnational Criminal Organization (TCO) provides no authorities to law enforcement or the Department of Defense to eliminate the Mexican cartels” as the term “terrorist” would. “If we are to be successful in the future, our nation must designate the cartels as terrorists,” he said. “Then our military can collaborate with host countries around the world to end them.”

According to Jones, most of these named cartels operate in 50 countries, including in Asia, Australia, and Europe. Our military could work not just with the Mexican government but with close allies around the world to disrupt their operations.

Jones warns that the threat from the cartels, in some ways, is worse than that of Islamic jihad in our hypothetical. “We are confronted with a new threat, one more sinister in many ways than Islamic terrorists around the world. They do not kill for political change or ideology. They kill for money and control. If our nation is to meet this 21st-century threat, then we must be willing to create a new arena of counterterrorism.”

Indeed, the brutality of the cartels is unrivaled anywhere in the world, and it’s right on our border and in our communities. Remember, all of the people coming into the U.S. from Central America are “brought into the culture of the [Mexican] cartels if they don’t have the money,” as Jones warned on my podcast last week. “When the Zetas were in strength, I can tell you times when they would have kill houses and be killing these people in mass numbers of 10 and 20 in a night and then taking their bodies, hanging them up, and putting mantras and signs on them to a rival cartel that ‘If you come into our area, this is what’s going to happen to you.’”

The cartel terrorism has gotten so bad that even the popular resorts with wealthy Americans, such as Cancun, are now unsafe for travel. Mexico has over 250,000 dead and 38,000 missing since 2007. Just from September 2017 to July 1, 2018, 132 politicians and candidates were murdered in Mexico leading up to the recent elections.

Derek Maltz, former head of the DEA’s Special Operations Division, told me that if you just take a look at the State Department’s designation requirements, “it’s very clear the Mexican cartels fit the criteria of a terrorist group.” Maltz laments that our government still treats the Mexican cartels as “an isolated silo” of organized crime divorced from global terror, even though “for years, the leadership in our government has warned how terrorists are increasingly turning to drugs and organized criminal networks for their funding.” The same cartels that have “infiltrated all the major cities in America,” according to Maltz, are “operating in over 50 countries, helping to supply funding to Islamic terror groups through the West Africa drug trade.”

According to 18 U.S.C. § 2331, international terrorism is defined as, among other things, “violent acts or acts dangerous to human life” that violate federal or state law and are designed “to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping;” and “occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.”

Indeed, instilling fear and terror over turf is just as much a part of their modus operandi as drug smuggling. How would a terror designation help?

“When you look at the production operations in Mexico, it seems very clear to me that with all our intel, we could hit those laboratories and poppy fields hard with DOD capabilities,” said Matlz. “If we can destroy the production sites, the supply would go way down and make the cost more prohibitive for our youth.”

The quantum leap from drug runners to violent paramilitary terror groups

As much as the drug crisis itself should drive our treatment of these groups as terrorists, Jones warns that the cartels have evolved into a much greater threat than mere drug cartels; they are now “global violent organizations.” “We are seeing these cartels evolve in quantum leaps in capabilities,” he warned.

Jones noted that the quantum leap began with the Zetas cartel, which was made of former Mexican military special forces, often trained by our own military, where they used commando tactics and high-level weapons. The Zetas were responsible for the murder of Jaime Zapata, an ICE agent, who was forced off the road in Mexico and gunned down by operatives of the infamous cartel in 2011. Now, all the other cartels have upgraded their weapons and tactics. Breitbart Texas reported this week that El Torey, a known terrorist who led a grenade attack against our consulate in Monterrey last decade, is now the head of the Cartel Del Noreste faction of the Zetas and is allied with the equally dangerous Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) cartel in its war against the Gulf Cartel. This is causing unspeakable violence along our Texas border near Laredo.

The opinion by many in our broken intelligence agencies that these problems are not bleeding over to our side of the border is willful blindness.

Jones said, “Never mind the military-grade weapons that they’re using; look at the tactics. To cross into the U.S., you don’t just walk across the border. That’s not how it works. What happens is they have what are known as halcons or falcons [cartel lookouts], and there are literally thousands of them. These halcons utilize handheld radios that are digital in nature and encrypted as they monitor our movements and bring across their contraband. The halcons and the sicarios, which are assassins that we’re trying to work against, are leveraging a capability that our law enforcement, particularly local law enforcement, do not possess.”

Their threat is so much greater than just drugs, which in itself has evolved to what is essentially chemical warfare against our country. It’s a sovereignty issue, says Jones:

A new trend we’re seeing is where they’re taking armored vehicles and cloning them with military insignias from Mexico. That allows them to get up close to the military so that they can engage them. You see what I’m saying about tradecraft, military tactics, and what they’re using. These are not things that normal law enforcement can take on, and it’s imperative that our government recognize that, at some point, we’ve got to start creating the ability for the Department of Defense to be able to get into this and have authorities to go out and help Mexico be successful because a lot of folks, again, forget Mexico has thrown everything they’ve had at this since 2006, and it is getting worse, not better.

But it’s not just at the border. Cartel associates are now all over our country, taking orders from these paramilitary groups we refuse to eradicate. The FBI is currently looking for Juan Alberto Mendez, a known Gulf Cartel member, in the Indianapolis area. He is wanted for murder, drug trafficking, and racketeering in Indiana and Texas.

FARC, the infamous Colombian cartel, has already been designated as a terror group, but it took years for our intelligence agencies and the State Department to recognize the threat from the Colombian cartels and that it wasn’t just about drugs. Jones explains that the Mexican cartels were trained by these very actors that are already designated. “We’re seeing a lot more Colombians intermingled within the training and tradecraft of multiple cartels, so things are evolving and changing every day. That’s just another example of the hypocritical mindset of our intel agencies; they understand these tools are the tradecraft of a terrorist organization, yet the cartels are employing and utilizing them every day but they refuse to designate them as terrorists.”

Why wait until it’s too late?

Trump has two choices. He can either grovel before Pelosi and offer a massive amnesty in order to get some pennies for a partial border fence, as suggested by Jared Kushner and the Koch staffers in the White House. Or he can actually use his existing powers as commander in chief to finally go to the source of the illegal immigration and drug problems and deal with it as a national security threat. Designating the cartels as terrorists will go a long way both in terms of policy and messaging to the public in building that case.

Why do we always have to wait until a problem is too big to solve with straightforward military operations to understand the strategic threats? Our intelligence community is always a generation behind the problem. The cartels are getting stronger by the day, thanks to our immigration policies and our callous disregard for the security threat they pose to our nation. Trump needs to build the case with the public and with the Mexican government that he is committed to destroying the cartels and their infrastructure and is willing to expend DOD resources to do so. This begins with designating them as terrorists and building up our military at our border. As Jaeson Jones warned, “It’s not a matter of if we’re going to end up going after the cartels. Don’t Be Surprised by Dem Gov. Northam’s Abhorrent Abortion Position

“The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

Those words from Virginia Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam in defense of an extreme state abortion bill kicked off a national firestorm among pro-lifers, as well as those generally disgusted by the idea of killing a viable human infant in the name of “reproductive choice.”

Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill responded by calling what Northam described by its proper name: Infanticide.

“In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,” said Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., in response. “I don’t care what party you’re from – if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”

“I never thought I would see the day America had government officials who openly support legal infanticide,” tweeted Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

But of course, the major networks’ evening broadcasts made no mention of it whatsoever. In other news, water is wet.

Later that day, one of the bill’s Democratic cosponsors withdrew her support, saying that she only attached her name to the measure because she wasn’t aware of just how extreme it really was. And, make no mistake, it’s quite extreme.

But anyone who found the remarks genuinely surprising should take a hard look at how Northam’s fellow Democrats have treated abortion survivors in recent years. People do survive abortion attempts, and pro-life lawmakers have introduced bills to protect abortion survivors in the last few sessions of Congress. But most Democrats vote against them.

Last session, H.R. 4712, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, came up for a vote in the House of Representatives. It was a relatively short and simple measure to “prohibit a health care practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.”

I.E., it would prohibit that “discussion” that Northam referred to on the radio from leading to the child being killed or left to die.

The bill passed by a vote of 241 to 183. All 183 “nay” votes came from House Democrats, and only six Democrats voted in favor of it.

A Heritage Foundation policy brief in favor of the bill explained that it would have augmented a law passed and signed in 2002: “However, as the disturbing case of Kermit Gosnell has shown, babies continue to be born alive and then killed after attempted abortions or are purposely delivered alive and left to die. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act augments the 2002 law by providing for criminal consequences for health care providers who violate the law and requires that proper medical care be given by the health care practitioner present if an infant is born alive.”

In September 2015, the Obama administration issued a formal policy statement opposing an earlier iteration of the bill, saying that heightened legal protections for abortion survivors “would likely have a chilling effect, reducing access to care”; basically, hypothetical concerns about abortion access were more important to the Obama White House than protection for infants outside the womb.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., now the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, defended his opposition to the measure on the House floor, making the nonsense “argument” that the requirement to admit abortion survivors to a hospital somehow “puts children’s lives and health at risk.” He also said that the implication that abortionists “cannot be trusted to take adequate measures to save a living baby’s life, is insulting and untrue.”

Just to put things in further perspective here, Nadler said that just before the vote, on January 19, 2018; Northam’s infanticide comments are 376 days later.

Given where Northam’s party members have fallen on the born-alive issue, given that the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate admitted that she “did not think” that there should be any restrictions on late-term abortion after Roe v. Wade, and given that the wider abortion activist cadre is quickly replacing the old mantra of “safe, legal, and rare” with “on demand and without apology,” should anybody be that surprised by what Northam said? Trump Must Be Stronger on Abortion to Win in 2020

The American people were reminded this week that there are depraved politicians in this country who think there should be a legal right to kill children in the late stages of pregnancy and maybe even beyond. As Democratic lawmakers in New York, Virginia, and Rhode Island move to advance late-term abortion bills that would allow babies to be murdered at any point up to delivery, Democrats have nowhere to hide their radical, evil position on killing children.

President Donald Trump should go on offense on the abortion issue this week, today even, next week in the State of the Union address, and every day for the next two years if he wants to win re-election in 2020.

When it became clear in 2016 that Donald Trump was going to be the Republican nominee for president, many conservatives had reservations about voting for him. Though he claimed to be a conservative on many issues, he was still an unknown factor. He had no record of governing. He was a lifelong New Yorker, and his past positions were quite liberal. He had supported Democrats for election. Pro-lifers were among those concerned that if elected, Donald Trump would be a pro-abortion liberal president. He had, after all, declared in 1999 that he was “very pro-choice.”

There were two issues Trump campaigned on that united enough conservatives around his candidacy to ultimately prevail on Election Day and defeat Hillary Clinton. The first was abortion. Trump campaigned as a pro-life candidate, explaining that his position changed after watching a friend decide against abortion and coming to know the “great, great child” that is living today. He pledged to defund Planned Parenthood as president. The second issue that won over conservatives was Trump’s promises to nominate originalist judges to the Supreme Court. Trump also always promised these judges would be pro-life and would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Reality struck many wavering conservatives during the final presidential debate between Trump and Clinton when the abortion issue came up. In a powerful moment, Trump showed the clear distinction between his pro-life promise and the promise of an America under the Democratic Party where restrictions on abortion were removed.

“If you go with what Hillary is saying, in the ninth month you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby. Now you can say that that’s okay, and Hillary can say that that’s okay, but it’s not okay with me,” Trump said.

Trump beat Hillary. Pro-life voters hoping he would keep his promises were a huge reason why.

The 2020 election is now under way. Democratic candidates are lining up to challenge President Trump. Confident in their 2018 midterm victory, Democratic lawmakers across America are pushing the envelope to see how far left they can take the country. In New York, with full Democratic control of state government for the first time in years, lawmakers stood and applauded as abortion till birth was legalized exactly as Trump described it in that debate.

Now Democrats want to repeat that victory in Virginia and Rhode Island. If given the opportunity, they will try to do it nationally. They will make it legal to kill a baby at any time during pregnancy, even just before birth, because the mother wants to. With more Americans disapproving of President Trump now than at any time in his presidency yet, with most Americans believing the country is on the “wrong track,” the Democrats may have that opportunity soon. And if Virginia’s Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam is an indicator, the Left’s real position is even more evil than permitting abortion through the third trimester.

“The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

Americans will not stand for that. But so far President Trump’s response has been tepid. In an interview with the Daily Caller, Trump called Northam’s comments “terrible” and referenced his debate with Clinton.

“I thought it was terrible,” Trump said. “Do you remember when I said Hillary Clinton was willing to rip the baby out of the womb? That’s what it is, that’s what they’re doing, it’s terrible.”

The president also tweeted that the Democratic Party has become the party of late-term abortion.

Trump needs to go further. He can begin the course correction on his presidency right here, right now, making it clear to everyone that while he is president of the United States, he will fight this evil will all the powers of his office.

In his State of the Union address next week, Trump should renew calls to defund Planned Parenthood — which almost certainly is one of the special interest groups pushing the Democrats’ evil legislation. He should call on Congress to take up votes condemning the practice of abortion in the third trimester, to expose the Democrats in Congress who won’t vote for that. He should call on Congress to pass a federal heartbeat bill, protecting life from the moment of a baby’s first heartbeat. Congress should also take up legislation banning selective abortions based on sex or genetic deformity.

And if Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., refuses to bring these bills to the floor of the House, then Trump should turn around during his address, point at her, and tell the American people the Democrats’ position on killing children is so evil and extreme that their leadership won’t even allow votes on these bills.

Rewrite parts of the speech if necessary. The president cannot show weakness or inactivity to pro-life conservatives when the Democrats’ abortion extremism is so naked.

After Trump delivers this address, he should make every single one of his Democratic challengers tell the American people what their position is on late-term abortion. It should be abundantly clear to every voter in America that if they oppose killing children just before birth, they must vote to re-elect President Donald Trump.

Go after the media, too. Show how the partisan progressive mainstream media in America is the enemy of unborn children. It’s easy enough to do. When Northam’s comments were finally reported in The Washington Post, the article was originally framed as “Va. Gov. Northam faces fierce conservative backlash over late term abortion bill.”

Virginia Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran openly admitted that her legislation allows killing a baby just before birth, and the Post made it seem like Republicans were the bad guys.

This is the Left in America. These leftists do not need to be exposed. They have exposed themselves. They are defending and excusing infanticide. Do not let them get away with it, Mr. President! Shame them! Oppose them!
