ISIS Claims Responsibility for Deadly Attack Near Paris

A man with severe psychiatric problems killed his mother and sister and seriously injured another woman in a knife attack Thursday in a Paris-region town, officials said.

Police shot and killed the man soon afterward.

The Islamic State group, which has a history of opportunistic claims, swiftly claimed responsibility.

French prosecutors weren’t treating the attack in Trappes, west of Paris, as a terrorism case, Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said. He noted the attacker suffered from serious mental health issues although he had also been flagged for glorifying terrorism.

Collomb said that the man killed his mother at her home and stabbed the other women outside.

Still wielding the knife, he then ignored police warnings and was shot and killed, the minister said after meeting officers and prosecutors in Trappes.

He described the man as “unstable, rather than someone who was engaged, someone who could respond, for example, to orders and instructions from a terrorist organization, in particular from Daesh.” Daesh is another name for IS.

A long-time friend of the attacker identified him as Kamel Salhi, 36.

The friend, Said Segreg, said Salhi had no obvious problems, didn’t abuse drugs or alcohol and wasn’t fervently religious.

A government official confirmed Salhi’s name and age. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss such details publicly.

Salhi was divorced and living with his mother, said Adama Traore, another of his acquaintances in Trappes.

The Islamic State group, via its Aamaq news agency, claimed responsibility.

The agency said the attack was motivated by calls from the IS leadership to attack civilians in countries at war with the extremist group.

Hours earlier, IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi urged followers to attack enemies everywhere.

The Islamic State group, which has lost most of the territories it once controlled in Iraq and Syria, has been known to make opportunistic claims in the past, even when there was no established link between an attacker and the extremist group. Lawyer for the Illegal Alien Accused of Killing Mollie Tibbetts Lied in Court

Yesterday the attorney for Cristhian Bahena Rivera, the illegal alien accused of murdering Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts, claimed during a court appearance his client was in the country legally and that he had been unfairly targeted by President Trump.

The government is incorrectly promoting the idea that Rivera is not in Iowa legally, attorney Allen Richards of Tama said in a court document asking for a gag order in the case.

“Sad and sorry Trump has weighed in on this matter in national media which will poison the entire possible pool of jury members,” Richards wrote, referencing a statement from the president citing Tibbetts’ death as an example why “immigration laws are such a disgrace.”

Rivera has lived in Iowa for four to seven years, working at Yarrabee Farms, a Brooklyn-area farm owned by Eric Lang, the brother of Craig Lang, a prominent Republican.

Education Department Seriously Considering Funding for Armed Teachers in Schools

Education Secretary Betsey DeVos is reportedly considering a proposal that would allow states to use federal grant funding to pay for armed teachers in schools. The proposal was first reported by The New York Times:

In its research, the Education Department has determined that the gun purchases could fall under improving school conditions, people familiar with the department’s thinking said. Under the current guidelines for that part of the grant, the department encourages schools to increase access to mental health counseling, establish dropout prevention programs, reduce suspensions and expulsions and improve re-entry programs for students transitioning from the juvenile justice system.

But the department began exploring whether to expand the use of the support grants after the school shootings in Parkland, Fla., and Santa Fe, Tex., prompted states to inquire about alternatives.

The proposal, which hasn’t been produced yet by the Department of Education, shouldn’t come as a surprise. Earlier this year the idea was discussed by DeVos as an option during a press conference.

Appeals Court Sides With Abortion Clinics, Blocks Alabama’s Dismemberment Abortion Ban

A federal appeals court in Alabama found Wednesday that the state’s ban on the “dilation and evacuation” abortion procedure, dubbed a “dismemberment” abortion by its opponents, is unconstitutional.

This abortion method takes place between 15 and 18 weeks of pregnancy and is the most common method of second trimester abortion in the state of Alabama. It was banned in 2016 but that ban was immediately challenged by the abortion providers West Alabama Women’s Center in Tuscaloosa and the Alabama Women’s Center in Huntsville. . .

“The State has an actual and substantial interest in lessening, as much as it can, the gruesomeness and brutality of dismemberment abortions,” they write. “That interest is so obvious that the plaintiffs do not contest it.” . . .

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall was disappointed in the ruling but was glad that the Court acknowledged the barbarity of the procedure.

“I am disappointed that the 11th Circuit sided with the lower court in this case, but it is encouraging that the court recognized the State’s important and legitimate interests in ending barbaric abortion procedures–in this case, procedures that literally tear apart babies living inside their mothers’ wombs,” he said in a statement. Elizabeth Warren’s Reaction to Mollie Tibbetts’ Murder Might Just Get Trump Re-Elected

Channeling the collective thought of the Washington D.C. establishment, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., does not believe the alleged murder of Mollie Tibbetts by an illegal immigrant is a “real” problem.

Speaking to CNN Wednesday, Warren said she was “sorry” for Tibbetts family, but pivoted away from talking about crimes committed by illegal immigrants to talk about the Trump administration’s former policy of separating families at the border.

“I’m so sorry for the family here and I know this is hard, not only for the family but for the people in her community, the people throughout Iowa,” Warren said. “But one of the things we have to remember is we need an immigration system that is effective, that focuses on where real problems are.”

“Last month I went down to the border and I saw where children had been taken away from their mothers,” she continued. “There was no plan for how they would be reunified with their children. I think we need immigration laws that focus on people who pose a real threat, and I don’t think mamas and babies are the place that we should be sending our resources.”


What Warren doesn’t seem to understand is that Mollie Tibbetts has been permanently separated from her family by a crime that was 100 percent preventable if the United States had a secure border. Tibbetts’ suspected killer, Cristhian Rivera, entered the United States illegally from Mexico and somehow managed to pass a federal E-Verify check.

But the would-be 2020 presidential candidate is not alone on the Left in downplaying the importance of the Mollie Tibbetts story. Fox News is under attack for devoting more coverage to the arrest of Tibbetts’ suspected murderer Tuesday than to the conviction of former Trump aide Paul Manafort and and the guilty plea of Michael Cohen to multiple federal crimes. An MSNBC guest dismissed the story as some “girl in Iowa” that “Fox News is talking about.” NeverTrump pundit Rick Wilson snarkily referred to the murder of an American citizen as “a local crime story.”

Mollie Tibbetts could have been anyone’s daughter. Her murder could have happened to any one of us, and the fact that people in the media and the Washington D.C. bubble don’t see why that’s far more relevant to most Americans is exactly why Donald Trump is president and exactly why he’ll continue to be president as long as he promises to do something about it.

Everyone knows that Donald Trump is a serial adulterer. Everyone knew before he was president that he associated with sleazy people like Michael Cohen. He became president in spite of his moral failings because he talked about the issues like illegal immigration that other politicians downplayed or ignored for years.

Apple Removes Facebook’s Security App From the App Store

Apple has removed Facebook’s Onavo security app from the App Store because it does not comply with its privacy rules.

“We work hard to protect user privacy and data security throughout the Apple ecosystem,” an Apple spokesperson said in an email to CNBC on Wednesday. “With the latest update to our guidelines, we made it explicitly clear that apps should not collect information about which other apps are installed on a user’s device for the purposes of analytics or advertising/marketing and must make it clear what user data will be collected and how it will be used.”

According to a Wall Street Journal story on Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter, Apple officials told Facebook last week that Onavo violated the company’s rules on data collection by developers, and suggested last Thursday that Facebook voluntarily remove the app.

Facebook acquired Israel-based Onavo in 2013, snapping up the free security app that lets users access a virtual private network, or VPN, to browse the web and download apps with a greater degree of privacy. Facebook in the past has offered that service to users without clearly disclosing that it owns the app, and has collected data about what other types of apps those customers use.

In June, Facebook told Congress that it does not use Onavo data “for Facebook product uses” or to collect information about individuals, but it has admitted to using Onavo to gather broad information about which apps are popular and how people are using them, which it uses to improve its own products. Want to See Real Campaign Finance Violations? Look at These Creeps in Congress

If President Trump and his former attorney violated campaign finance laws, as many on the Left allege, then several members of Congress have likely done so as well, LevinTV host Mark Levin said on the radio Wednesday.

Levin made the point in a segment that addressed gaping holes in the Left’s narrative around the recent news of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen striking a plea deal with federal prosecutors.

If spending a lot of money to make oneself look better in an upcoming election violates campaign finance laws, Levin explained, then there are a lot of members of Congress in jeopardy. He reminded listeners of the so-called “hush fund” which was money set aside for lawmakers to settle sexual harassment and similar lawsuits. He added that lawmakers who used those funds did something far worse than Cohen because they used taxpayer money, as opposed to private funds.

Levin had a simple solution for these congressmen. “Let’s drag these little bastards out of Congress and let’s prosecute them, then,” Levin thundered.

Men Who Shot at U.S. Embassy in Turkey Were Drunk and Angry at Trump

The two men accused of firing shots at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, reportedly confessed to being under the influence of alcohol and angry at President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about Turkey. . .

According to Turkish Minute, the two suspects, Ahmet Çelikten and Osman Gündaş, have criminal backgrounds and decided to shoot at the embassy after getting angered during a conversation.

“We were driving around the city in Osman’s car and drinking. We were talking about the Turkish lira, Trump’s threats and remarks. Under the effect of the alcohol, we got angry and decided to act,” Çelikten said. . .

The attack comes amid increased tensions between the two countries over the U.S. applying pressure to Turkey to free North Carolina Christian Pastor Andrew Brunson, who Turkey claims supported Kurdish militants and assisted in the 2016 coup against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The dispute has resulted in the U.S. applying sanctions to Turkey’s steel and aluminum imports, and Turkey boycotting U.S. electronic goods. The Least Free State in America Won’t Surprise You

On Tuesday, the Cato Institute released the latest edition of “Freedom in the 50 States,” which ranks states by how their public policies champion freedom fiscally, with regulations, and in ways affecting personal freedom. As the Courier-Express stated, “To determine the rankings, state and local government intervention was examined across a range of more than 230 policy variables — from taxation to debt, eminent domain laws to occupational licensing, and drug policy to educational choice.” . . .

New York is the least free state in America, Cato Institute says

By WIVB. New York has ranked fiftieth in freedom for yet another year, according to the CATO institute.

The libertarian think tank releases an annual report, Freedom in the 50 States, which ranks states on how their policies promote fiscal, regulatory, and personal freedom.

“New York has been the least free state in the country for a long time,” the report said.

The CATO Institute has ranked the Empire State last in the nation since the year 2000.

Mueller Comes up Empty on Trump-Russia

Lost in the drama surrounding Tuesday’s news — Paul Manafort’s convictions and Michael Cohen’s plea deal — is the reality that special counsel Robert Mueller has yet to unearth a single piece of evidence demonstrating collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

Mueller’s team of Democrat prosecutors, which is supposedly tasked with investigating Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election, secured highly publicized guilty pleas from former Trump attorney Michael Cohen on entirely unrelated matters. The same applies to the convictions against short-lived Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort.

Nonetheless, many in the media have heralded the Manafort-Cohen news as proof that Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation is justified. The Washington Post declared Tuesday’s news as Trump’s “worst day of the Russia investigation.”

In his appointment of Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein instructed the former FBI chief to investigate “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump” and “any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.”

Mueller has entirely failed to find proof of coordination or collusion and has seemingly prioritized the latter vague, open mandate that he received from DAG Rosenstein in targeting individuals currently and previously associated with the president.

We have been told for over two years now, through a narrative crafted with targeted leaks in the mainstream media, that former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn and low-level foreign policy aides Carter Page and George Papadopoulos were essential to Russian collusion efforts. Their alleged collusion with Russia continues to be the justification that Obama intelligence community officials give for their massive, rights-violating espionage operation against the Trump campaign.

Yet through all of the noise on cable news and in the legacy press, the public has not been presented with a single piece of evidence — other than the Steele dossier, a political opposition research and propaganda document sourced to Russia that was funded by Hillary Clinton and the DNC — that any members of the Trump campaign or transition team colluded with the Kremlin. The Comey FBI declared Carter Page a Russian spy, yet Page remains free. Both Gen. Flynn and Papadopoulos appear to have been strong-armed into guilty pleas to charges unrelated to collusion and have long maintained that they did not conspire with the Kremlin. Papadopoulos is now reportedly reconsidering his guilty plea, while Mueller constantly delays Flynn’s sentencing hearing.

Mueller has charged several Trump campaign officials with offenses that have nothing to do with coordination with Russia, providing the legacy media with the fodder it needs to propagandize the public and repeatedly conflate the unrelated charges with Russian collusion. This has given the president’s detractors the ammunition they need to continue demanding that the special counsel stay afloat — and to continue challenging President Trump’s duly elected mandate, benefiting the Kremlin’s mission to further sow discord in the United States.

It has been 462 days since Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel. Since then, he has come up entirely empty on Russian collusion. Mueller now has two options: Produce the evidence, or concede that he has come up empty and put himself out to pasture.
