DACA and Sanctuary Cities Fueling Gang and Opioid Crises

“We need to do something.”

This mentality now being harnessed to promote an unconstitutional and unhelpful policy on guns is never harnessed to address the political problems that are fueling the gang and opioid crises in our country and are responsible for death and mayhem in every major community. The influx of young violent criminal aliens into this country since 2012 as a result of the amnesty even Trump is trying to codify, in conjunction with the sanctuary cities that coddle them, has fueled the gang and opioid crises in this country. Where is the sense of urgency in Congress to shut down the amnesty agenda and punish sanctuaries?

There is a body count of at least 25 people killed by MS-13 – DACA deaths – in Long Island alone. Then of course there is the body count of tens of thousands killed by heroin and fentanyl that we allow into our country through the open-borders agenda. Yet the media doesn’t like to discuss body counts when the solution is as simple as enforcing our own sovereignty. It’s a lot easier to discuss bump stocks and the NICS system that targets seniors with surrogates taking care of their finances.

The MS-13 crisis stemming from DACA

Let’s just say that the illegals who streamed over the border in the summer of 2014 with the promise of DACA amnesty were not only harmless children — not by a long shot. A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies found that the resurgence in MS-13 gang violence, especially in places like Montgomery County, Maryland, and Long Island, New York, are the result of the 300,000 Central Americans who have been illegally resettled in our communities since DACA, as well as the growth of sanctuary cities.

The CIS reviewed 506 criminal arrests of MS-13 gang members and found, not surprisingly, that the biggest uptick in activity was in Maryland, Virginia, New York, and California. The MS-13 population in Fairfax County, Virginia, has doubled and has significantly increased in Prince William County, Virginia, and Montgomery County, Maryland. From the information that was available, the CIS was able to determine that at least 120 of them, including 48 who were murder suspects, arrived recently as unaccompanied alien children (UACs), which lends credence to the DHS’s claim that 30 percent of the UACs in DHS custody have ties to gangs. This is the direct result of our politicians ignoring the letter of the law and treating smugglers and gang members as “severely trafficked” victims when in fact they are the perpetrators and, as such, are not eligible for resettlement in this country. Yet only four percent of all UACs have been deported.

The sanctuary problem has made things worse. As Jessica Vaughan notes, MS-13 was once a diminishing problem, especially after the Bush administration implemented the 287(g) program and worked closely with local law enforcement to target criminal aliens. “Documented gang members often were arrested on administrative immigration violations, which had the effect of disrupting the gang’s activities and ridding communities of troublemakers. In addition, these lower-level arrests often led to more significant criminal investigations of gang leaders and the dismantling of local MS-13 cliques,” writes Vaughan.

The surge in UACs and the willful violation of our laws by Obama led to a circuitous smuggling operation to bring in more young MS-13 recruits from Central America, as illustrated by the following finding in Vaughan’s report:

[O]ne MS-13 clique leader in Frederick, Md., who had received a DACA work permit and was employed as a custodian at a middle school in Frederick, Md., and who was recently incarcerated for various gang-related crimes, reportedly was told by gang leaders in El Salvador to take advantage of the lenient policies on UACs to bring in new recruits, knowing that they would be allowed to resettle in the area with few questions asked. Several of these unaccompanied minors now have been arrested and incarcerated for various crimes, including a vicious random attack on a sheriff’s deputy in 2015.

Sanctuary cities have only made this problem worse. They disrupt almost all communication between ICE and local law enforcement that would ensure that criminal aliens are immediately charged on immigration or fraud violations before they commit worse crimes. In 2014 alone, sanctuaries released 10,000 criminal aliens who had a 70 percent recidivism rate and undoubtedly contributed to the gang crisis. “Many of the hotbeds of MS-13 activity are also places where local officials have adopted sanctuary policies,” wrote Vaughan.

This is the national emergency that requires us to “do something.” We have enough problems with our own domestic criminals. Why are we keeping the gang members of other countries who commit horrific crimes in our schools?

The opioid crisis is an open-borders crisis

Talk about a crisis of body count: Overdoses on opioids are the ultimate crisis facing America. In 2016, well over 20,000 died from fentanyl and related synthetic drug overdoses and over 15,000 died from heroin overdoses. Not surprisingly, the 540 percent increase in deaths began the year after Obama enacted DACA, abolished the 287(g) program, and essentially suspended immigration enforcement. Obama began suspending federal enforcement with the “Morton Memos” in the spring of 2011 and terminated 287(g) while implementing amnesty in June 2012.

There are two components to the opioid crisis: the prescription drugs and the illicit drugs, such as heroin and fentanyl. As we’ve noted before, the recent growth in the prescription drug overdose crisis is largely fueled by the Medicaid expansion, yet neither party wishes to “do something” about it. But the greater crisis is on the non-prescription side, which accounted for 78 percent of the 64,000 deaths in 2016, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Worse than the numbers is the trend line from fentanyl and heroin alone, which occurred right after Obama suspended immigration enforcement.

Now Republicans plan to pass a new “opioid bill” next week to throw more money at the problem, when in essence the illicit drug crisis is a result of open borders, sanctuary cities, and our refusal to treat the drug cartel problem on our border with the same seriousness with which we treat Islamic civil wars halfway across the world.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), 80 percent of the illicit opioids sold in this country are from drug cartels based in Mexico and Central America. Heroin is almost exclusively a problem emanating from Mexico, drug cartels, and illegal alien smugglers. Given that the transnational drug cartels, illegal alien smugglers, and gang street traffickers are the main perpetrators of this crisis, immigration enforcement agencies are the best equipped to deal with the problem.

This was made painfully obvious earlier this month when the Feds discovered a stockpile of fentanyl in Boston connected to Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel large enough to wipe out the entire state of Massachusetts. Sadly, ironically, tragically, yet humorously, the entire state was declared a sanctuary last year by a court at the behest of a criminal alien who was later arrested for slapping and mugging a wheelchair-bound woman leaving a bank.

As Jessica Vaughan, herself a resident of Massachusetts, explained in her testimony before the House Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, federal immigration agents “have expertise and intelligence on cross-border drug trafficking and smuggling, attaches in foreign countries and relationships with foreign and international law enforcement agencies, and extensive databases of foreign gang members and other criminals, including biometrics, and including information on the movement of individuals across borders. They are not limited in jurisdiction by state or city boundaries.” However, local law enforcement personnel “are not trained to recognize immigration documents or signs of identity theft by foreign nationals, and need to have the discretion to contact the DHS agencies that can assist in identifying criminal aliens involved in the drug trade.”

Guess who are the ones who initially making contact with drug traffickers on the streets? It’s not the ICE agents, because they don’t patrol the streets. It’s local law enforcement. They make the initial contact, but federal immigration officials have the intel on immigration status. It’s a match made in heaven and broken up by sanctuary cities.

Given that most of the drug-runners are foreign nationals and that sanctuary cities are making illegal aliens a protected class, sanctuary cities are not just a refuge for your average-Joe illegal alien but for drug cartels as well. Detective Nick Rogers of the Denver Police Association gave a riveting testimony on how the drug runners are mainly young illegal aliens 18-25 from Mexico and Central America (DACA!) and how sanctuary ordinances discipline law enforcement for working with immigration officials to bust up their rings.

Thus, we have the mixture of the promise of amnesty for youngsters, the ensuing flow from Central America, and sanctuary cities that are plaguing our communities with gang violence and dangerous drugs that are killing thousands. These are killing more people in our schools than mass shootings.

Where’s the outrage? Isn’t it time to “do something?”

Yes, it’s time to do something about killings, crime, and immigration

Announce an end to all amnesty and make it clear to Central America that nobody — irrespective of age — who comes here illegally will ever get amnesty. This was Trump’s direct promise in his Phoenix speech in August 2016.

Rather than pushing amnesty in the omnibus bill, demand the inclusion of the Toomey amendment to cut off funding to sanctuary cities.

Pass the Rokita bill authorizing up to one year of prison time for local officials who harbor illegal aliens and violate federal law.

Pass the Zeldin bill, which requires the denaturalization of any gang member who obtained citizenship and is later found to be a member of MS-13 or another similar group.

Pass the Davis-Oliver comprehensive interior enforcement bill to reinstate and strengthen all of the successful federal-local cooperation to root out criminal aliens.
Expand expedited deportation for all criminal aliens.

Completely remove immigration policy from the jurisdiction of Article III courts and have it handled exclusively by administrative judges, as was the case until fairly recently.

Trump must follow through with his executive order to properly interpret the UAC law so that only those who are severely trafficked qualify for refugee resettlement. Everyone else should be deported immediately, including most of the 300,000 already here.

Finally, treat the Mexican drug cartels with the military operations they demand. If we are able to keep our military in Afghanistan for the rest of time in order to referee an Islamic tribal war, we can create a military buffer zone to stop gang violence and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans as a result of drugs, as well as the crushing cost of illegal immigration.

Yes, it’s time to do something about mass killings. And the easy way to start is by getting rid of other countries’ criminals who kill and poison our people. It won’t infringe upon our constitutional rights, it won’t strip innocent people of the right to self-defense, but it will save lives.

Sadly, don’t expect either party to let this emergency stop their clamor to pander and shamelessly politicize something that is not political while ignoring something that is manifestly rooted in public policy choices through the voluntary policy of immigration. Instead of focusing on any of these items next week, our “leaders” will promote gun control. As for the opioid crisis, these same “leaders” will merely throw money at the problem they created and make it worse with their agenda for continuing amnesty and sanctuary cities. Trump Shares Heartwarming Photo of Billy Graham and the Caption Couldn’t Be Better

Following the renowned evangelist’s death at the age of 99, President Donald Trump shared a heartwarming photo of the Reverend Billy Graham, and in the caption, he recalled a comforting quote from the preacher.

Trump shared a black and white photo Wednesday night that was originally posted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The picture shows the late reverend leading several black children by the hand in what appears to be a poverty-stricken area.

“When we all reach the end of our earthly journey, we will have just begun,” read the accompanying quote from Graham, indicating that he knew when he died, he was going to a better place.

Graham, who died early Wednesday morning at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, will be buried on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte alongside his wife, Ruth, according to Newsmax.

Graham’s funeral is set to be held on March 2, with the invitees including Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, as well as former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter.

Trump’s Instagram post was far from the only way he honored the life of the Christian evangelist.

Hours after Graham died, the president took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the “GREAT” man. “There was nobody like him! He will be missed by Christians and all religions. A very special man,” Trump wrote.

Trump also issued a presidential proclamation ordering that flags on public grounds be flown at half-staff on the day of Graham’s funeral, and in an official statement, he recognized Graham’s role as “one of the towering figures” of the last century.

“Billy’s acceptance of Jesus Christ around his seventeenth birthday not only changed his life — it changed our country and the world,” Trump said. “He was one of the towering figures of the last 100 years — an American hero whose life and leadership truly earned him the title ‘God’s Ambassador.’”

“Billy’s unshakeable belief in the power of God’s word to transform hearts gave hope to all who listened to his simple message: ‘God loves you.’ He carried this message around the world through his crusades, bringing entire generations to faith in Jesus Christ,” the statement continued.

Many other national leaders and politicians also expressed their admiration for Graham.

Billy Graham’s son, the Reverend Franklin Graham, said that his father was a “humble” person who “never saw himself as a celebrity.”

“The Billy Graham that the world saw on TV or saw on the big screen was the same Billy Graham we saw at home. He wasn’t two people,” Franklin Graham told NBC’s “Today” on Thursday, while also noting that his father “would want to be remembered as a preacher.”

“When my mother passed away, we knew what she wanted on her tombstone, so I asked my father — so there wouldn’t be any argument among us children — I asked him, ‘Daddy, what do you want to be on your tombstone?’ And he thought about that and he said, ‘Preacher,’” Graham said.

“That’s what’s going to be on his tombstone: Preacher.” (For more from the author of “Trump Shares Heartwarming Photo of Billy Graham and the Caption Couldn’t Be Better” please click HERE)

Alert: Twitter Purging Thousands of Accounts Posting Things They Don’t Agree With

Several right-wing Twitter users shared their concern this week over discovering their own profiles had been suspended or a sizable portion of their followers had apparently disappeared overnight.

As Gizmodo reported, accounts of the supposed purge began to appear Wednesday morning.

Conservative radio host Bill Mitchell responded to another user’s inquiry about the news by confirming thousands of his followers had seemingly vanished.

Controversial white nationalist Richard Spencer tweeted that he “lost close to 1,000 followers” in the span of a few hours.

The concern manifest itself in the form of a hashtag, #TwitterLockout, which gained traction on the platform throughout the day, according to Fox News.

One woman contacted Gizmodo to share her experience, claiming her account — @ThankUGOD4Trump — was locked on suspicion that it was being operated by a bot.

“They told me that my account ‘exhibited automated behavior’ and that I’d be sent a ‘verification code,’ which I’ve never received.”

She was reportedly able to regain access after following the steps prescribed by Twitter.

Another Trump supporter claimed she was caught up in the purge, too, though she began noticing her followers reappear “as they day goes on and they were able to confirm their accounts.”

Mitchell provided a similar update.

While Twitter did not announce its intention ahead of time or issue an immediate statement when complaints started pouring in Wednesday morning, the company did provide some details to Gizmodo later in the day.

The tools used to identify automated bots or other unauthorized behavior on the platform are “apolitical,” Twitter said, adding that the company enforces its rules “without political bias.”

The company shared a few characteristics its algorithms look for in flagging an account for possible misbehavior.

“As part of our ongoing work in safety, we identify suspicious account behaviors that indicate automated activity or violations of our policies around having multiple accounts, or abuse,” the statement read. “We also take action on any accounts we find that violate our terms of service, including asking account owners to confirm a phone number so we can confirm a human is behind it.”

It was those safeguards, Twitter said, that caused “suspensions or locks” on certain accounts.

“This is part of our ongoing, comprehensive efforts to make Twitter safer and healthier for everyone,” the company said. (For more from the author of “Alert: Twitter Purging Thousands of Accounts Posting Things They Don’t Agree With” please click HERE)

Justin Trudeau Makes a Fool of Himself Again, Insults Entire Nation of India With Condescending, Ethnic Attire

Fresh off lecturing a young woman to say “peoplekind” instead of “mankind,” Canada’s pretty boy Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped in it again, this time insulting the entire nation of India during his boondoggle of an eight-day family workcation.

Twitter lit into Trudeau, 46, this week, for wearing over-the-top, traditional Indian attire that appeared at once desperate and condescending. Sherwanis; kurta shirts; an awkward outfit straight out of central casting for a Bollywood bridegroom.

“It’s a kind of reverse colonialism to want to mimic the ‘native’. Doing a kurta number as a salute to a culture is one thing, but Justin Trudeau’s display of trousseau like repertoire of multi-coloured kurtas has begun to grate,” wrote Indian political consultant Dilip Cherian.

“Offending garments include Trudeau’s long, multicolored sherwanis, usually worn on special occasions such as weddings or in Bollywood movies,” wrote The Washington Post’s New Delhi correspondent, Vidhi Doshi. “Trudeau wore a sparkling gold one to a meeting with Bollywood’s top brass while the film stars wore muted black suits. Add to that the Canadian first family’s posey, soap-opera style namastes, and it’s enough to keep social media here buzzing with memes and jokes.” (Read more from “Justin Trudeau Makes a Fool of Himself Again, Insults Entire Nation of India With Condescending, Ethnic Attire” HERE)

Jury Finds Democrat Guilty of Multiple Felonies

On Thursday afternoon, a Democratic Texas state senator was found guilty on 11 felony charges, including “multiple counts of fraud and money laundering,” reports the Texas Tribune.

State Sen. Carlos Uresti was charged last year for his role in what authorities called a “Ponzi Scheme” involving a bankrupt oilfield services company called FourWinds Logistics. Uresti, the Texas Tribune says, “used his prestigious reputation to lend credibility to an unknown company; several investors testified that Uresti’s presence reassured them that their money would be safe with FourWinds.”

Uresti served as general counsel for FourWinds, owned 1% of the company, and earned a commission for every investor he brought into the scheme, authorities say. But when investors lost most of their money — for some, hundreds of thousands of dollars — they went to Texas law enforcement to investigate the company . . .

Uresti will now face jail time on the 11 charges, which include felony fraud and money laundering. He also became ineligible to continue to serve as a state legislator, and he will be disbarred. Texas Democrats have not yet called for Uresti to resign, but issued a “strong rebuke” following the verdict, saying that “no one is above the law.” (Read more from “Jury Finds Democrat Guilty of Multiple Felonies” HERE)

Months Before Massacre, Cops Told of Cruz Threats With Weapon

Just months before Nikolas Cruz killed 17 at his former high school in South Florida, the host family who had taken him in immediately after his mother’s death warned local law enforcement that the 19-year-old had “used a gun against people before” and “has put the gun to others’ heads in the past,” according to records obtained by CNN.

It’s the latest indication of how law enforcement encountered warning signs about Cruz’s violent behavior before he attacked students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day. . . .

On the day after Thanksgiving, Cruz was at work at a Dollar Tree store. Rocxanne Deschamps’ son, Rock, 22, called 911 to report that an “adopted 19-year-old son” had possibly hidden a “gun in the backyard,” according to a dispatcher’s notes. Rock Deschamps told law enforcement “there were no weapons allowed in the household,” the report said. It’s unclear from the record whether sheriff’s deputies conducted a search. The incident was classified as “domestic unfounded,” which means a deputy didn’t find proof to back up the claims.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was called again to the home four days later, when Rock said Cruz lashed out against the family that took him in, according to the Palm Beach deputy’s report and dispatcher notes. The deputy went to a local park and found Cruz, who explained that he had misplaced a photo of his recently deceased mother and, emotionally distraught, began punching the wall. Cruz lost control the same way he had several times in the past at his mother’s home in Parkland, Florida, when he had not taken his prescribed mood-altering medication, as CNN has previously reported based on Broward police documents. Over 30 Percent of Applicants Want to Go to Law School Because of Trump

We’ve known for a while that more people are taking the LSAT — we’re talking a double-digit increase. But exactly why has largely remained a source of speculation and anecdotal reports that the surprising results of the 2016 election were motivating people to go to law school. Now we have the hard data to support that hypothesis.

Kaplan Test Prep conducted a survey of over 500 pre-law students and the results confirm the suspicions of many in the industry: the Trump Bump is real. Thirty-two percent of respondents said politics were a motivating factor in deciding to apply. The comments offered show that changes in policy by the Trump administration have prompted some to consider a career in the law:

“I work with refugees and new government policies have directly impacted and impeded my ability to do my job. I am interested in a law degree in order to have a new way to fight for human rights and defend those in need.”

. . .

And even those who had already thought about going to law school before credit the 2016 election with solidifying the decision and potentially changing their career path:

“I wanted to be a lawyer and attend law school before the 2016 election, but the results solidified to me why it was so important to gain a legal education. Prior to that election, I had never considered being a politician; however, I am now considering pursuing a career in politics after my legal education.”

Palestinian Authority President Threatens U.S. With ‘Terrorists’

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called President Donald Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem a “dangerous” development in a speech before the United Nations, then walked out before U.S. envoy Nikki Haley retorted that “we will not chase after you.”

The encounter Tuesday before the Security Council reflected the tensions in U.S.-Palestinian relations since Trump’s declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and his administration’s cuts in UN refugee funds for the Palestinians. Haley was accompanied at the UN by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and chief adviser on Israel-Palestinian peace efforts, and by Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt . . .

Abbas, who renewed his call for an international conference this year to seek a Mideast accord, has vowed not to meet with U.S. officials until the Jerusalem embassy decision is reversed . . .

However, he finished his address with a warning — which others may read as a threat — of violence unless the U.S. restores funds that were cut to the UN Relief and Works Agency, which administers to millions of Palestinian refugees . . .

“If you end your assistance they become terrorists or refugees in Europe,” Abbas said. “It’s either that or you continue to support UNRWA until the crisis ends. We are ready to begin negotiations. We beg you to help us so that we may not commit an act that goes against our beliefs and your beliefs.” (Read more from “Palestinian Authority President Threatens U.S. With ‘Terrorists'” HERE)

Growing Body of Research Rejects Transgender Movement

Is Caitlyn Jenner a woman? A growing body of research from scientists, philosophers and feminists says no.

The latest contribution to the debate is “When Harry Became Sally,” a just-released book by Heritage Foundation senior research fellow Ryan T. Anderson, who critiques the transgender movement on the grounds of metaphysics, medicine and public policy.

Contrary to the transgender movement’s central claim — that “gender identity” determines whether someone is a man, a woman or something else — Mr. Anderson said the only rationale for determining an organism’s sex is “by that organism’s organization with respect to sexual reproduction.”

“Apart from that, all you have are sex stereotypes,” Mr. Anderson said Wednesday at a Heritage Foundation gathering. “There’s no other objective standard for identifying the sex of an individual.”

Human beings are a “sexually dimorphic species,” with complementary reproductive systems that are either male or female, Mr. Anderson said. One’s sex is evident in DNA, can be tracked in the womb and manifests itself “in many of our bodily systems and organs all the way down to the molecular level.” (Read more from “Growing Body of Research Rejects Transgender Movement” HERE)
