Bad News for the Write-In Campaign Against Roy Moore

A write-in campaign supported by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the Alabama Senate race is not “viable” anymore, a source close to the majority leader’s political operation told The Daily Caller Monday.

McConnell and other establishment Republicans, such as National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Cory Gardner, have called on Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore to drop out of the race due to allegations of sexual misconduct with minors.

“We’re looking at whether or not there’s someone who could mount a write-in campaign successfully,” the Senate majority leader told reporters last week . . .

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that there are currently only two options McConnell world sees transpiring: Moore wins and the Senate expels him, or Democrat Doug Jones wins. North Korea Bans Drinking, Singing, Punishes Officials for ‘Impure Attitude,’ Report Says

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un keeps his citizens on a tight leash, according to defectors, but the leader has now constricted his control even further by banning North Koreans from drinking and singing, according to a new report.

Citizens have been banned from participating in “any gatherings related to drinking, singing and other entertainment,” Yonhap News Agency reported Monday. The North Korean regime is also “strengthening control of outside information.”

The ban is reportedly an effort to stifle “a possible negative impact” of sanctions against North Korea in response to its recent nuclear tests.

The rogue state has also taken action against its military, by “undertaking an inspection of the military politburo” due to an “impure attitude toward the party leadership,” according to Reuters.

Top military officials — including bureau chief Hwang Pyong-so and deputy chief Kim Won-hong — were punished as a result of the investigation, but it’s unclear how they were disciplined. New York Times Star Reporter Suspended After Sex Harassment Claim

By Brian Blood. The New York Times has suspended star White House correspondent Glenn Thrush amid allegations he sexually harassed co-workers, and the journalist is blaming his bad behavior on the bottle.

Word of disciplinary action against Thrush, a frequent critic of President Trump who is also an MSNBC contributor, first came in an article detailing his alleged misconduct on the website Vox.

Thrush, who made a name for himself at Politico before joining the Times in 2016, has been portrayed on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” by Bobby Moynihan. He told Vox that he hasn’t had any alcohol since June when he “upset” one of his accusers after a night of “drinking heavily.”

“I have not taken a drink since June 15, 2017, have resumed counseling and will soon begin out-patient treatment for alcoholism. I am working hard to repair the damage I have done,” Thrush said.

Vox’s Laura McGann, who used to work with Thrush at Politico, broke the news and also accused Thrush of sexual misconduct when they were colleagues. CBS, PBS Star Charlie Rose Suspended After Sexual Misconduct Claim: ‘I Am Greatly Embarrassed’

By Fox News. “CBS This Morning” co-host and longtime PBS star Charlie Rose has been accused by eight women of making unwanted sexual advances toward them and admitted to some of the misconduct in a statement, according to the Washington Post. Both PBS and CBS suspended him.

Rose’s alleged misconduct includes making lewd phone calls, walking around naked and groping the women’s breasts, buttocks or genital areas, according to the Post. Rose’s accusers were employees or “aspired to work for Rose at The Charlie Rose show’ on PBS from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011.”

“CBS This Morning” has been growing rapidly since it launched in 2012, but still struggles to match the viewership of rivals “Today” and “Good Morning America,” while Rose’s show on PBS has aired regularly since 1991. Rose’s PBS show is filmed at the Bloomberg LP headquarters, making three major media organizations tied up in the latest harassment scandal.

Off-Duty Cop Reportedly Stops Attempted Robbery While Holding Child

An off-duty Brazilian police officer reportedly managed to thwart an armed robbery by killing two men with his pistol – all while holding his child.

Sgt. Rafael Souza was in a pharmacy in Campo Limpo Paulista with his child and wife on Saturday when two hooded armed robbers burst into the store, The Independent reported.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Souza, from Sao Paulo’s police force, firing his pistol at the two men. He then hands his child over to his wife, who is crouching behind a display of products. (Read more from “Off-Duty Cop Reportedly Stops Attempted Robbery While Holding Child” HERE)

Mayor of LA Scoping 2020 Run

There have been governors and generals, senators and members of Congress, secretaries of state and vice presidents. There was even a billionaire business executive chosen as commander in chief.

But never in the 228 years since Gen. George Washington was sworn in as president has a sitting mayor been elected to the White House.

Eric M. Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles, may be out to change that.

Greek Island on Strike in Protest Against Becoming Migrant ‘Prison’

Residents on the Greek island of Lesbos went on strike on Monday to protest against European policies they say have turned it into a “prison” for migrants and refugees.

Islanders shut businesses, shops, municipal offices, nurseries and pharmacies and dozens rallied on a central square, calling on the government to transfer asylum-seekers to the mainland.

“Lesbos is not a place of exile,” a banner read.

Just a few miles from Turkey’s coast, Lesbos has borne the brunt of Europe’s migrant crisis. In 2015, nearly a million people – most fleeing Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan – landed on its shores before heading north, mainly to Germany.

Airline to Board Passengers Based on Price of Ticket

Passengers will soon be boarding British Airways planes according to how much they paid for their flights.

From next month, those who pay the lowest fares will have to wait at the departure gate and board after everyone else.

The carrier will introduce a ‘group boarding’ system on all its flights from December 12.

When passengers check in they will be assigned a group number between one and five which will be printed on their boarding pass.

Extinct Lion to Be ‘Brought Back’ in Jurassic Park-Style Experiment

The discovery of an extinct cave lion cub from the Ice Age has raised hopes that it could be cloned and its species brought back to life some 50,000 years after it disappeared.

The tiny animal was found “perfectly preserved” with its paw resting on its head on the bank of Tirekhtykh River in the Abyisky district of Yakutia in Siberia in Russia.

Investigators says the small creature was about eight weeks old but cannot say how it died in the area that is permanently frozen – in conditions that helped keep its remains from decaying.

Cave lions were native to regions in the northern hemisphere before they became extinct, and the only knowledge of the animals that hunted in packs is from cave paintings left by early man.

BOOM! Mystery Blasts Rattling the Globe

. . .[These] are the questions experts and non-experts around the world are asking themselves in recent weeks as curiously loud mystery BOOMS have not only been heard around the world, but felt – shaking buildings and rattling nerves from Alabama to Michigan, Idaho to California, Russia to Denmark . . .

The day after Alabamans were shaken by that incident, something similar occurred in Idaho. No explanation has been forthcoming from law enforcement officials there . . .

WXYZ in Detroit said the reports came in from the towns of Wyandotte, Ecorse, Lincoln Park and many others. Wyandotte Police said the loud boom did not originate in their city. Ecorse Police also said their officers heard and felt it inside their police station, but they were not able to pinpoint the source of the sound, saying it did not happen in Ecorse.

Southern New Jersey had baffled residents on Oct. 25 who called 9-1-1 centers. It was also heard and felt in the Philadelphia area. An earthquake was ruled out. There was speculation about a sonic boom from military aircraft flying out of the Naval Air Station near the Patuxent River in eastern Maryland. But a public affairs officer from the base said there were no aircraft flying in the area that morning. There is also speculation about an inversion, which happens when a layer of warmer air sits over a layer of cooler air, magnifying the sound of an aircraft miles away.

Pastor Defends Family, Shoots Burglar in the Head

A local pastor shot a burglar who was trying to break into his home early Thursday, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

It was the dead of night — 2:40 a.m. — when police got a call about a burglary in progress at a home on Sante Fe Trail.

By the time officers arrived, 19-year-old Donavan Simmons was on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head.

According to police, the suspect tried to gain entry into the home through the basement when the homeowner shot in the general direction of the intruder.

Simmons was struck in the head. He was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery. He was listed in stable condition. (Read more from “Pastor Defends Family, Shoots Burglar in the Head” HERE)
