OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABillionaire Sean Parker, famous for his founding roles at Napster and Facebook, is backing an unconventional $250 million effort to attack cancer that involves persuading hundreds of the country’s top scientists — who often are in competition with each other — to join forces and unify their research targets.

The consortium, which will be formally announced Wednesday, focuses on immunotherapy, a relatively new area of research that seeks to mobilize the body’s own defense systems to fight mutant cancer cells. Many believe it represents the future of cancer therapy.

More than 300 scientists working at 40 labs in six institutions — Stanford, the University of California, San Francisco, and University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Pennsylvania, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center — have already signed on . . .

He describes the effort as a way to remove obstacles related to bureaucracy and personality that will allow scientists to borrow from each other’s labs unencumbered. The researchers will continue to be based at their home institutions but will receive additional funding and access to other resources, including specialized data scientists and genetic engineering equipment set to become part of the nonprofit Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy in San Francisco. Equal Pay Day and the Pay Gap Deception

22382224587_d4b8d6bfcf_bApril 12th was Equal Pay Day. You didn’t miss it, did you? That’s the day where we are all supposed to mourn the fact that women are paid seventy-six cents for every dollar a man earns for the same work. There’s only one little problem with this whole day of remembrance; it’s based on a total load of crap.

Most of you probably already know this, but for Pete’s sake, this same old lie has lived way past its prime. This weak, sickly, feeble argument has been surviving on scraps of encouragement from fibbers with an agenda, and it’s past time for this old lie to be taken out to the back yard and put out of its misery. If you don’t already know why the 76-Cent Pay Gap argument is bunk, let me explain, and if you do already know, I urge you to memorize the basic facts so you can correct people every time you hear them repeating this nonsense.

The studies that show that women earn seventy-six cents for every dollar men earn reach this figure by comparing the earnings of all men and women who work full-time. Sure enough, women do make about 24% less than men, but this stat does not take into account the work being done by the men and women. This isn’t unequal pay for unequal work but unequal pay for vastly different kinds of work.

One of the biggest causes of the wage gap is the fact that men and women tend to go into different fields. More men become doctors. More women become elementary school teachers. Doctors get paid more than elementary school teachers.

Another big factor is that women often choose to take time off from work to raise children. It’s not infrequent for mothers to take a couple of years or even a couple of decades off to focus on raising a family, and that’s perfectly fine, but you cannot work your way up the economic ladder when you’ve left the workforce. Plenty of women renew their careers in their fifties after raising several children and they find that they are once again starting at the bottom.

Studies that take into account these and other factors like the amount of hours worked, the number of sick and vacation days taken, aggressiveness in contract negotiation, education level, years of experience in the field, amount of time with a company and management status show that the Pay Gap all but disappears. When actually comparing apples to apples, studies have shown that women make 98% of what men make, and that’s pretty darn close to the margin of error for any statistical analysis, so the actual Pay Gap might even disappear completely.

The people perpetuating the Pay Gap myth don’t even have a defense for their views. The Huffington Post had several articles on the front page promoting, “Equal Pad Day,” but it also has an article posted four years ago where a feminist writer admitted the 76-Cents argument is nonsense. Even though they know Pay Gap story is untrue, leftist sites like Huff Po still promote the same old lie because they know if they can convince women that they are being abused they can get them to vote Democrat to combat this crisis which they’ve largely fabricated.

We have got to kill this lie. Every time somebody repeats it, we should quickly point out the truth. You can explain the way the data is being manipulated in thirty seconds, there are loads of articles from mainstream and even some leftist sites which admit the 76-cent Wage Gap is a lie and there’s no need to be confrontational about it. You share the info, mention a mainstream source that supports your case and let it go. If they care about the truth, they can learn it in a few minutes of Googling. If they don’t care about the truth, then there’s little hope for them, but maybe they’ll start to feel foolish promoting an obvious lie and stop indoctrinating women to feel victimized.

The United States provides an environment where both women and men can thrive. The only thing that will keep women from succeeding is the belief that the system is rigged against them.

Parents Enraged by LGBTQ Week at School

drapeau-arc-en-ciel-lgbtA controversial LGBTQ Appreciation Week at Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, [California] got underway Monday morning and it appears some students are choosing not to take part, even after the school modified the curriculum due to parental concerns.

More than 100 kids’ parents still don’t want their kids to hear the message, so they will go to the multi-purpose room during the lesson or will just go home early . . .

One mother said her daughter is on that leadership team but she will not be teaching the lessons with the rest of the team because of religious reasons.

“The teacher told me she had to teach to students about LGBT so I am not comfortable with that, because my daughter is a Christian, she grow up in a Christian environment, so we are not comfortable,” parent Cindy Seo said.

Other parents worried middle school kids are too young for the subject. “We talk about things pretty openly, I have my views. He’s going to develop his views. I kinda figure, well, I wish it was maybe a little later into high school period of time but it’s here, it’s what it is,” parent Phil Lim said. John Kasich Trashes Mississippi Religious Liberty Law

20177638393_fdae28e39d_bIn the ongoing debate over religious liberty in regard to same-sex marriage, John Kasich has continually been on the leftist side of the aisle.

Speaking at CNN town hall Monday, Kasich slammed Mississippi’s religious freedom law as big mistake, wrongfully characterizing it as a law that enables businesses to simply deny service to LGBT affiliates.

“I read about this thing they did in Mississippi where apparently you can deny somebody service because they’re gay. What the hell are we doing in this country?” he asked.

As stated by LifeSiteNews, the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act,” signed into law by Mississippi Gov. Hillary Confirms Trillion Dollar Tax Hike Plan

hqdefaultDuring an interview with the editorial team of the New York Daily News, Hillary Clinton admitted her tax proposals will increase taxes on the American people by at least $1 trillion over the next ten years. Here is the key exchange from the meeting, according to a transcript released by the Daily News:

Clinton: I have connected up my proposals for the kind of investments I want to make with the taxes that I think have to be raised. So on individual pieces of my agenda, I try to demonstrate clearly that I have a way for paying for paid family leave, for example, for debt-free tuition. So I would spend about $100 billion a year. And I think it’s affordable, and I think it’s a smart way to make investments, to go back to our economic discussion, that will contribute to growing the economy.

Now I’m well aware that this is a heavy lift. I understand that. But I think connecting what I’m asking for to the programs, to the outcomes and results that I’m calling for give me a stronger hand, and that’s how I’m going to go at it.

Daily News: So if I understand you correctly, if you look at your proposals for college costs and for family leave, for infrastructure investments…

Clinton: Well, that’s a little bit different, because infrastructure investment, I’m still looking at how we fund the National Infrastructure Bank. It may be repatriation. That’s one theory, or something else. It’s about $100 billion a year.

Pay Gap Alert: Clinton Foundation Male Execs Earn 38% More Than Women

24505995061_371b856f39_bMale executives at the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation earn 38 percent more than women executives, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of the foundation’s latest IRS tax filings . . .

The numbers were in stark contrast to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign-oriented “Equal Pay Day” speech, which she delivered in Silicon Valley Tuesday. She charged that equal pay for women was “long overdue.”

Pay equity at The Clinton Foundation, however, doesn’t quite meet those standards.

The foundation’s highest paid executive is Frederick Post, director of “sponsor and marketing,” who has built the foundation’s assets to $247 million. He received $484,000 in annual compensation.

IRS Chief: Agency Encourages Illegal Alien Theft of SSNs to File Tax Returns

Migrants_in_Hungary_2015_Aug_003The IRS is struggling to ensure that illegal immigrants are able to illegally use Social Security numbers for legitimate purposes, the agency’s head told senators on Tuesday, without allowing the numbers to be used for “bad” reasons.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.

“What we learned is that … the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that’s not really our job,” Coats said. “We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid.”

Asked to explain those practices, Koskinen replied, “What happens in these situations is someone is using a Social Security number to get a job, but they’re filing their tax return with their [taxpayer identification number].” What that means, he said, is that “they are undocumented aliens … . Lawmakers Say Redacted Pages of 9/11 Report Show Saudi Official Met Hijackers in This US City

National_Park_Service_9-11_Statue_of_Liberty_and_WTC_fireLawmakers are calling on the White House to declassify more than two dozen pages in the 9/11 Commission report that they say outlines evidence for possible support from the Saudi government for two hijackers who settled in Southern California.

A CBS News “60 Minutes” report quoted officials familiar with the 2003 report as saying 28 pages of redacted information raises questions over whether Saudi officials were involved in assisting Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar upon their arrival in Los Angeles in Jan. 2000.

Former Democratic congressman and U.S. ambassador to India Tim Roemer told “60 Minutes” the two Saudi nationals found a way to gain access to housing and flight lessons upon their arrival despite “extremely limited language skills and no experience with Western culture.”

“L.A., San Diego, that’s really you know, the hornet’s nest,” said Roemer. “That’s really the one that I continue to think about almost on a daily basis.”

According to the report, witnesses say both al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar met at the King Fahad mosque in Culver City with Fahad al-Thumairy, “a diplomat at the Saudi consulate known to hold extremist views.” He was denied reentry to the U.S. in 2003 for suspected terrorist ties. Costa Rica Says Its Doors Are Closed to Cubans

6.6.10CubanParadeUCByLuigiNovi5 (1)Costa Rica has issued a warning to the new wave of undocumented Cuban migrants hoping to travel by land from Ecuador to Central America and eventually the United States: they will not pass.

Foreign Minister Manuel Gonzalez Sanz told el Nuevo Herald that Costa Rica was already worn down by its handling of the previous wave of 7,800 Cubans who were detained or stranded here from November of 2015 until March.

“I want to make absolutely clear, to all the (Cuban) migrants who are coming and those already in Panama, that Costa Rica cannot and will not receive them,” Gonzalez said. The country “will make use of all domestic and international measures at its disposal to address this situation, if we face something similar to what we faced from November to March.”

He added that waves of undocumented Cuban migrants “will continue as long as the U.S. law that favors Cuban migration, the well-known Cuban Adjustment Act, continues,” and indicated that there’s a profound discomfort in the region with the Act. This year, however, a skit performed by Hillary Clinton and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio had attendees in shock.

The “joke” started when Hillary thanked de Blasio for his endorsement, but commented on how long it took him to do so.

“I just have to say thanks for the endorsement, Bill. Took you long enough,” Hillary said to mild laughter.

Then de Blasio took the joke in a direction no one was expecting.

“Sorry Hillary, I was running on C.P time,” de Blasio said to a mix of laughter and gasps. C.P. time, or “colored people time,” is used to stereotype blacks and other minorities as lazy and often late. Hillary Clinton and Bill De Blasio Ripped Over Racial Skit

By Neetzan Zimmerman. Hillary Clinton performed in a racially tinged skit at an annual New York City press dinner as the controversy surrounding former president Bill Clinton’s defense of his wife’s “superpredator” remark continues to swirl.

Clinton took the stage for a surprise appearance at Saturday’s Inner Circle Dinner and proceeded to needle Mayor Bill de Blasio for his belated endorsement . . .

“Sorry, Hillary, I was running on C.P. time,” de Blasio replied to gasps from the crowd.

As Raw Story explains, “C. P. time,” or “colored people time,” refers to “the stereotype that African Americans generally tell as a reason for being late to an event or a traditionally black event not beginning on time.”
