The “Material Girl” then added her own comment, referencing her new album Rebel Heart, which read: “Thank you Margaret Thatcher,” with the tags #unapologetic, #rebelheart and a love heart . . .

Apparently unbeknownst to Madonna, Thatcher is not viewed as a fan of homosexual culture, and the post did not go over well with her large gay fan following.
Due to Section 28 legislation, which essentially banned schools from “promoting homosexuality” under Thatcher’s watch in 1988 as a means to combat the AIDS virus, the Iron Lady is still viewed as a figure of oppression in the country by many gays.
Section 28 was abolished in 2003, but is still a frequent topic of debate, something the singer had apparently not picked up on while living in the U.K., or while she was acquiring a British accent more than a decade ago. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio cut a wide swath even beyond his Arizona world where he was very big political fish. He became the voice for a type of tough justice that harkened back to the Wild West, when the lawman’s word was absolute and few worried about the rights of prisoners or immigrants.
On Tuesday, Arpaio faced what may be his most demanding and dangerous opponent: U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow, who will decide whether the man who has called himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” should be held in contempt for deliberately ignoring court orders in a long-running civil rights case.
“He has been trying to get out of this desperately,” Alessandra Soler, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona, told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, the first of what is expected to be four days of hearings in Phoenix. “He has been hiding behind the badge, and that’s why it is very, very important to have a public trial.”
Arpaio has refused to comment on the current proceeding that could result in a fine and perhaps a criminal case down the road. The sheriff is on the witness list of about two dozen people, though he is not expected to testify until later in the week.
Snow will take testimony and will have to decide whether Arpaio and four top aides should be held in contempt for violating the judge’s order barring sheriff’s department policy on immigration patrols that were designed to enforce tough restrictions on anyone in the country illegally. Today we have Google (GOOGL). Don’t let the geeky façade, whimsical multicolored logo and “don’t be evil” mantra fool you. Google may very well be the most sinister threat and wicked incarnation of them all.
In an interview with the Atlantic almost five years ago, the search empire’s dark lord himself, Eric Schmidt, said, “Google policy is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.” He said, “I would argue that implanting things in your brain is beyond the creepy line – at least for the moment until the technology gets better.”
Then things got even creepier when Schmidt said, “We don’t need you to type at all because we know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less guess what you’re thinking about.” Then he paused and asked, “Is that over the line?”
Clearly, this creepy virtual line of Google’s is not just a moving target but a highly subjective one. How do they know when they’ve crossed it? Perhaps the more appropriate question to ask is how many lines does Google have to cross before its executives realize – before we realize – that they’re doing evil? Google Will Let You See Everything You’ve Ever Searched

Now, it’s possible for the average Web user to get a slice of some of that information.
Over the weekend, an unofficial Google blog highlighted a new feature that the Internet giant had quietly rolled out to let people download their entire Google search histories.

Google Lobbying Spending Reached New High in Early 2015
By Diane Bartz. Google Inc , already one of Washington’s biggest spenders, set a company record for its lobbying activity in the first quarter of 2015 when it spent $5.5 million, according to a government database.
Google ranked ninth in terms of total lobbying spending in 2014 at $16.8 million, behind the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ($124 million) and the National Association of Realtors ($55 million), according to the Center for Responsive Politics . . .
The $5.5 million Google spent in the first three months of 2015 is the most since the company began lobbying in 2007, according to the government database. Its ranking for this quarter’s spending could not be immediately determined.
Google’s growing investment in lobbying highlights the tech firm’s expanding presence in Washington as it fights antitrust battles at home and abroad, and grows its business into new areas such as broadband connectivity and self-driving cars. (Read more from this story HERE)

A man living in Kenner has been charged with three counts of aggravated rape against a 10-year-old girl after the victim was seen in a video claiming they “made love,” police said.
The mother of the girl found the cell phone video on Thursday, April 16, 2015. It was recorded by her daughter. On it, the victim alleged that she and her mother’s boyfriend had “made love” three times.
After confronting her daughter, police said the 10-year-old victim told her mother it happened in their bedroom.
25-year-old Hermes Rivera admitted to police that he had sex with the victim three times between March and April 3, 2015.

Rep. Steve Knight Confronts Protester During Immigration Discussion
By Veronica Rocha. A new video shows U.S. Rep. Steve Knight (R-Palmdale) confronting a protester during a discussion about immigration.
The heated confrontation occurred Friday outside Knight’s district office in Simi Valley, where a group holding “Stop illegal immigration” signs had gathered during an open house event. The entire encounter was filmed and a video was later posted to YouTube.
A protester, who called himself “Mike,” approached Knight, shook his hand and said, “You told me you didn’t vote amnesty and you did. I looked it up on the Internet. You lied to me.” He then patted Knight on the arm.

Now that they were living under the Islamic State, no other nationality mattered.
Using her account @ZumarulJannah, which has now been suspended, Umm Jihad expressed contempt for the United States. “Soooo many Aussies and Brits here,” she tweeted. “But where are the Americans, wake up u cowards.” If other American ISIS supporters couldn’t make it to Syria, she said, “Terrorize the kuffar [derogatory term for non-Muslims] at home.”
“Americans wake up!” she tweeted on March 19. “Men and women altogether. You have much to do while you live under our greatest enemy, enough of your sleeping! Go on drive-bys and spill all of their blood, or rent a big truck and drive all over them. A Democrat communications hack with the title of “senior email campaigner” posted a job opening for the Democrat National Committee that makes a joke about the deaths of four Americans at the hands of terrorists in Benghazi.
And he’s finding out just how furious Americans really are.
Here’s the original tweet posted by the DNC’s hack Eric Reif, one of those wunderkind’s who staffed the Obama presidential campaigns. He apparently tried to delete it when some adult at the DNC headquarters came into the room, but a sharp-eyed Twitter user captured it first.

An Indiana public school district segregated elementary field trips last week when administrators included only African-Americans on the college introduction tour.
According to ABC 57, South Bend Community Schools Corporation has planned a series of field trips to three local colleges for black third-graders in seven school districts. The excursions began last week with a trip to Ivy Tech Community College.
Dr. G. David Moss, the director for the African-American student-parent services with the South Bend Community Schools Corporation, told ABC 57 that he wanted the third-grade students to begin to think of themselves attending college.
“I was hired to look at the issues facing African-American kids in the South Bend Community Schools Corporation and my job specifically says that I need to develop programs and develop strategies to help these kids and their families become more successful academically,” Moss said.

A friend sends along an email attachment—a handwritten letter by his 8-year-old son, Peter. It’s addressed to First Lady Michelle Obama. “It all started because he saw something about school lunches [and] how ketchup is bad for you, and that Michelle Obama wants to limit the amount of ketchup” in schools, my friend explained. When the boy’s mother reminded him he attends a private school, making the ketchup rationing a nonissue, “He said something about wanting to ‘give a voice to the voiceless.’”
But ketchup is actually the least of the boy’s concerns, as he then continues onto foreign policy, the crisis in the Middle East, and the need for boots on the ground. (“He also disipionted [sic] millons of Americans by not bombing Syria.”) In addition, Peter recommends that the president urge the United Nations to send peacekeepers to Ukraine.
On the lighter side, the departure of Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau seems to be noted, as Peter points out, “I also think your husband needs to work on his speeches.”
