‘You Live in Fantasy Land’: Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck Spar Over Future of Republican Party [+video]

Mr BeckBy Oliver Darcy. Glenn Beck joined Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on his program Tuesday evening to discuss comments he recently made about leaving the Republican Party.

“I don’t believe you’re leaving the Republican Party because you like Ted Cruz … I think he’s running as a Republican, Beck. Did anybody break that to you?” O’Reilly asked TheBlaze founder.

Beck offered a rebuttal, saying he would financially support Cruz, but was done with the Republican Party.

“The party right now is attacking people like Ted Cruz,” Beck said. “There are more slings and arrows coming from the Republican Party against Ted Cruz than there is outside the Republican Party.”

The conversation quickly became centered around the future of the GOP. (Read more from “Watch: ‘You Live in Fantasy Land’: Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck Spar Over Future of Republican Party” HERE)

‘American Laws for American Courts’: Resolution Passed in North Texas City Despite Muslim Complaints

ShariaOn Thursday evening, March 19, the Irving City Council passed a resolution that expressed support for Texas House Bill 562, a proposed piece of legislation that is scheduled for its first public hearing in Austin next week. It is a bill that has been nicknamed American Laws for American Courts.

Irving’s symbolic nod was close, won only in a vote of 5 to 4. The resolution was one heated agenda item, too. It brought out an estimated 500 residents from the City of Irving in the Dallas area. The local, large Muslim population also turned out at City Hall, complaining that HB 562 was discriminatory to them because the bill codifies that US and Texas laws supersede foreign laws.

It is something that should make perfect sense — that the laws of the United States and Texas, and their respective constitutions supersede foreign law. HB 562 was authored by state Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Plano) and was coauthored by 34 other state legislators. One of them, state Rep. Matt Rinaldi (R-Irving) spoke on behalf of the bill at the meeting.

The Muslim community’s point of contention with the City’s resolution was that they felt targeted by HB 562 because of their faith; however, there was nothing in HB 562 that mentioned race, religion, or creed. Nor did Leach’s proposed legislation prevent the practice of “tribunals” where religious leaders act as arbitrators in family, business or other situations whether it be Catholic Ecclesiastical Law, Jewish Halakhah Law, or Muslim Sharia Law.

“This bill does not mention, at all, Muslims, Sharia Law, Islam, even religion. It specifically talks about foreign laws not taking precedent over US laws and those of the state of Texas,” Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne stated during the council meeting. Russia’s Return to Nicaragua Worrying Many in Central America, Washington

Russia is rekindling its once-strong ties to Nicaragua, possibly including providing the Central American nation with jet fighters, stoking unease as far away as the Andes in South America.

Later this week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Nicaragua as part of a swing through four Latin American nations, the culmination to a series of high-level Russian visits to this Central American nation in the past year. Last month, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu paid a two-day visit, and in January the head of Russia’s upper house of Parliament arrived. Russian leader Vladimir Putin visited in June.

The rumored provision of the Russian jet fighters to Nicaragua has spawned fears of an arms race in Central America and once again made Nicaragua a bit player in the geopolitical to-and-fro between Washington and Moscow.

The chief spokesman for the Sandinista Front on international matters, National Assembly Deputy Jacinto Suárez, defended the possible acquisition of the fighter planes on Thursday and said Nicaragua’s relations with Russia have taken “a qualitative leap.”

“Everyone has the right to defend their national sovereignty. Why should anyone feel threatened by this?” Suárez said at a news conference, declining to confirm whether Nicaragua would obtain the aircraft and adding that they might come as a donation rather than a purchase. By Fox News. Ben Carson has called President Obama a lot of names. In a newly published magazine profile, he adds psychopath to that list.

The comment was published in an article in GQ, which described a conversation the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate had as he prepared to watch Obama’s State of the Union address in January . . .

But the political newcomer has also found himself in hot water for past off-the-cuff remarks. Earlier this month, he apologized after saying in a CNN interview that inmates’ behavior in prisons proves that homosexuality is a choice. (Read more from “Ben Carson Likens Obama to Psychopath” HERE)

Presidential Hopeful Ben Carson Thinks Obama Is a ‘Psychopath’ and America Is Like Nazi Germany

By Colin Campbell. A new profile of Ben Carson in GQ magazine quotes the presidential hopeful making some more controversial claims.

The lengthy piece begins with Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and conservative favorite, reacting to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech. One of Carson’s advisers said Obama looked good and Carson responded by calling the president a “psychopath.”

“Like most psychopaths,” Carson said. “That’s why they’re successful. That’s the way they look. They all look great.”

Carson is no stranger to controversial statements. Earlier his month, the bestselling book author drew national headlines after he said men who come out as gay in prison prove homosexuality is a choice. And last year, Carson repeatedly compared the US to Nazi Germany. (Read more from this story HERE)

Bombshell Police Video Shows Secret Service SUV Hit White House Security Barricade as Bomb Threat Played out Just a Few Feet Away

whPolice surveillance video shown publicly for the first time Tuesday shows Secret Service agents in their government vehicle driving through the secured area and nudging a temporary barrier at low speed as it drove toward a checkpoint.

The incident occurred as on-duty officers and agents investigated a suspicious package thrown near the White House on March 4 – and an accompanying threat that it contained a bomb.

The House Oversight Committee showed the video from the Washington Metropolitan Police Department during a hearing on Capitol Hill.

Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy was testifying for the third time about the incident, in which two senior agents are accused of drinking before driving into the White House complex and pushing the barrier with the SUV’s bumper . . .

Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the committee’s chairman, angrily recounted a series of events including an 11-minutes stretch of time the Secret Service let the suspicious package lay near the White House before evacuating the area. Woman Arrested for Throwing Molotov Cocktail at Pro-Lifers In Front of Planned Parenthood

cocktailA woman who police say threw a Molotov cocktail at a group of women praying in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic on Monday evening, has been charged with aggravated assault. Austin police and members of the bomb squad responded to E. Ben White Boulevard after receiving a call shortly after 6 p.m.

According to the executive director of Central Texas Coalition for Life, the group was able to record part of the suspect’s license plate number before she drove away, which led police to 52-year-old Melanie Toney. Toney was pulled over less than three miles away from the clinic.

“This is definitely the first time that something of this nature has been thrown at us that’s actually threatened and put people in danger, so it’s obviously very alarming,” said Heather Gardner, executive director of Central Texas Coalition for Life. She said people have thrown objects at them before, but nothing like this.

Ruth Allwein is a volunteer of the pro-life campaign called 40 Days For Life, which hosts peaceful protests by praying in front of an abortion clinic, and was outside the Planned Parenthood when the incident took place.

“It had a lit wick, so my first instinct was to back away, then I wasn’t sure what to do,” said Allwein. “I ended up coming over and stamping on it, so it was a little bit nerve-racking. I thought about leaving it alone but then my thought was, ‘What if it explodes, what’s going to happen?’ So I decided it was worth coming back coming back over here and doing something about it.” (Read more from “Woman Arrested for Throwing Molotov Cocktail at Pro-Lifers In Front of Planned Parenthood” HERE)

[Editor’s note: the below video is incredibly biased, suggesting it is unknown whether the alleged attacker was throwing her Molotov cocktail at the abortion clinic or the protesters. That is despite the multiple eyewitnesses to the contrary. The video also highlights past acts of alleged violence against abortion clinics. And the Planned Parenthood’s director’s statements regarding his organization’s non-violence is laughable]

Map of Where Starbucks Chose to #RaceTogether in New York Paints a Strikingly Revealing Picture

BucksStarbucks’ #RaceTogether campaign has been met with strong reactions from across the political spectrum.

The response on social media to the company’s push for an “uncomfortable conversation” about race became so intense that a senior executive of the company even went so far as to delete his Twitter account as a response, according to CNN Money (he eventually reinstated it 24 hours later).

With much discussion brought to the campaign and its hashtag – if not the underlying issues of race in America – a closer look at which neighborhoods Starbucks has opened up shop in may reveal a potential disconnect between the $16.4 billion corporation’s social goals and its 14,000 stores.

For example, the map below shows the northern suburbs of New York City – Rockland and Westchester Counties – with the red dots representing the 36 locations that Starbucks has in the area, and the neighborhoods coded by the racial plurality that lives there.

Not a single Starbucks location is situated in a neighborhood with a plurality black population, despite these areas being more geographically dense. (Read more from “Map of Where Starbucks Chooses to #RaceTogether in New York Paints a Strikingly Revealing Picture” HERE)

Indiana House Overwhelmingly Passes Controversial, but Solid ‘Religious Freedom Restoration Act’

AFA controversial Indiana bill that could protect business owners who don’t want to provide services for same-sex couples moved closer to law on Monday, after passage by the state’s House.

Senate Bill 101, known as the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act,” was approved by the Republican-controlled House by 63-31. A version was previously passed by the Republican-controlled Senate, and Republican Governor Mike Pence said he will sign it.

“The legislation, SB 101, is about respecting and reassuring Hoosiers that their religious freedoms are intact,” Pence said in a statement. The bill will now go back to the Senate and if that chamber concurs with the House version, it will go to Pence for being signed into law.

Supporters of the law say it will keep government entities from forcing business owners – such as bakeries and florists who don’t want to provide services to gay couples – from acting in ways contrary to strongly held religious beliefs. Gay marriage became legal in Indiana last year following an appellate court ruling. (Read more from “Indiana House Passes Controversial ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill” HERE)

Arizona Judges Told They Must Perform Same-Sex Marriages If They Do Any Weddings, Regardless of Deeply Held Religious Beliefs

By Deborah Hamilton. A recent ruling in Arizona may have set a frightening precedent, as judges there were ordered to perform same-sex weddings if they do any weddings at all—regardless of whether doing so violates their faith.

According to a report last week by the Associated Press, a recently issued opinion by a state judiciary ethics advisory committee in Arizona says “turning away same-sex couples would violate a state judicial-conduct rule against bias or prejudice based on sexual orientation.”

Therefore, judges must perform same-sex weddings, even if their morals and beliefs contradict the practice. The opinion also said that “a judge’s religious or other personal beliefs don’t make a difference nor does it matter if the judge performs weddings at non-court locations.”(Read more from “Arizona Judges Told They Must Perform Same-Sex Marriages If They Do Any Weddings” HERE)

Myths About Redefining Marriage

By Peter Sprigg. Advocates of redefining “marriage” to include same-sex couples use a number of arguments that can best be described as “myths.” The reality is often quite different. For example:

MYTH: A “one man and one woman” definition imposes a religious definition of marriage on civil society.

REALITY: The definition of marriage is rooted in nature itself. The sexual union of a man and a woman is what reproduces the human race. The durable commitment of that man and woman to one another is what provides children with a mother and father. This is important for people of any religion or of no religion.

MYTH: Children don’t actually need both a mother and a father.

REALITY: An overwhelming body of social science evidence demonstrates that children raised by their own mother and father, who are committed to one another in a lifelong marriage, are happier, healthier and more prosperous than children raised in any other household setting. Russia Continues Aggressive Stance, Demands Removal of American Nuclear Weapons from Europe

VPBy Newsmax. Russia called for a ban on American nuclear weapons in parts of Europe, saying the U.S. is breaking an international agreement by holding joint nuclear training missions with NATO allies that don’t possess such weapons.

Using ships and airfields as well as training crews from non-nuclear states from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in such exercises is “in direct contradiction to the letter and spirit” of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, or NPT, ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement on its website. Vladimir Putin’s ‘Night Wolves’ Biker Gang Storms Ukraine

By Mary Chastain. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s biker gang, the Night Wolves, is causing a ruckus in east Ukraine as it lends a hand to the pro-Russian rebels and Russian soldiers.

“My love for my homeland, for my territory, is my life,” announced Vitali, the leader of the east Ukraine branch.

The Night Wolves originated in Russia in 1983 and is very close to Putin, who even rode with them during a bike festival in August 2011.

“I’m a Night Wolf, not a rebel,” claimed Vitali. “I’m just defending my homeland.”

Vitali, who also goes by “Prosecutor,” is based in Lugansk. The headquarters includes “two charred Ukrainian tank turrets” as decoration items at the entrance. He said his men destroyed the tanks “during a battle with government troops” and calls them their “trophies.” The majority of the members in Lugansk are from Ukraine, but some members from Russia leaked in.
