WHO: 21,000 Ebola Cases by November if No Changes

Since the first cases were reported six months ago, the tally of cases in West Africa has reached an estimated 5,800 illnesses. WHO officials say cases are continuing to increase exponentially and Ebola could sicken people for years to come without better control measures.

In recent weeks, health officials worldwide have stepped up efforts to provide aid but the VIRUS is still spreading. There aren’t enough hospital beds, health workers or even soap and water in the hardest-hit West African countries: Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

John Kerry: Threat From Climate Change is Just Like ISIS

Secretary of State John Kerry, the world’s top diplomat, is warning that global warming climate change poses as much of a threat to the world as ISIS. More from The Hill:

Secretary of State John Kerry said the threats posed by climate change should be addressed with as much “immediacy” as confronting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and the Ebola outbreak.

During a meeting with foreign ministers on Sunday, Kerry said global warming is creating “climate refugees.”

“We see people fighting over water in some places. There are huge challenges to food security and challenges to the ecosystem, our fisheries and … the acidification of the ocean is a challenge for all of us,” Kerry said.

“And when you accrue all of this, while we are confronting ISIL and we are confronting terrorism and we are confronting Ebola and other things, those are immediate,” he added, using an alternate acronym for the terrorist group.

Google is breaking ties with the American Legislative Exchange Council, a prominent network of conservative state legislators that, among other projects, works to roll back laws that promote solar and wind power, the company’s chairman said Monday.

The decision marks a major victory for a campaign by environmentalists, union activists and other liberal groups that have pushed companies to drop support for ALEC. Microsoft ended its ties to the group a few weeks ago.

“The consensus within the company was that that was some sort of mistake,” Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said, referring to the initial decision to support ALEC.

UN climate change: Obama gives cash to developing nations without any strings attached

This week, President Obama and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will frame the discussion at the U.N. as a simple way to confront the rising tides effecting coastal and island countries. There will be much talk from wealthy and developed nations about not ignoring these problems while poor and underdeveloped countries will eagerly agree to any action plan that includes money. But the two sides have very different goals.

American and European liberals see the climate change debate, as well as the U.N. Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) discussion, as an altruistic response to their global public POLICY concerns. United Nations officials and leaders from developing nations, however, see the climate change discussion and the fight over MDGs as their future revenue source.

The money from wealthy nations to confront some very real global poverty and economic issues is largely given out of guilt. Sadly, there is little emphasis with the climate change discussion on requiring developing nations to meet certain governance or environmental standards first; and even less concern for listening to what the people living in poverty want or need to change their dreadful circumstances.

Ironically, many poorer countries have neither the capacity nor political will to change their priorities to combat rising tides. They just want the money.

The 15 Most Shocking Statements in ObamaCare Architect's 'Die at 75' Article

Photo Credit: APLast week, esteemed doctor and one of our ObamaCare Architect Overlords penned a column for the Atlantic that should win a Pulitzer Prize for passive-aggressive shaming. Although Emanuel claims that *he* doesn’t want to live past the age of 75, the article itself could have been a listicle titled, “Top 15 Reasons No One Over 75 Should Receive Healthcare.”

Emanuel even includes a monstrous but brightly colored graph that is meant to tell anyone over 75 that their “last contribution” to society likely occurred more than a decade ago.

Good God.

The phrase “the banality of evil” gets bandied about a lot. Emanuel’s column, which in reality is a public service announcement meant to begin a debate about the way in which we prioritize healthcare, takes the prize in that department.

And yes, Emanuel’s article is an act of evil, written by a soulless bureaucrat with no respect or compassion for the individual. Emanuel’s only concern is for the collective, the State. And he is exactly the kind of “medical professional” many feared would grab hold of our healthcare system if the Federal government got their hands on it — which it now has.

White House: Americans with Islamic State Have Returned to U.S. (+video)

Photo Credit: iStockThe White House acknowledged on Monday that some Americans fighting with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria have returned to the United States, estimating that more than 100 fighters from the U.S. have joined the terrorist group.

To date, the White House had not publicly revealed that Americans fighting on behalf of the Islamic State were back in the U.S. The FBI is now monitoring the American-born fighters who have come home, a senior administration official confirmed.

Public School: Girl Can't Wear T-Shirt That Promotes Virginity

Photo Credit: FacebookAn Alabama school superintendent accused Chloe Rubiano and her mother of seeking media attention after the eighth grader’s middle school banned her “Virginity Rocks” T-shirt.

“Just the attention this incident has been given has certainly given the student and her mother the attention they sought,” Fayetteville School District Superintendent Paul Hewitt reportedly told CNN. ”This is not a major free speech issue.”

On September 11, Rubiano wore her “Virginity Rocks” T-shirt to Ramay Junior High in Fayetteville, Ala. She was called into the principal’s office and told to take it off and wear a gym shirt for the rest of the day.

“My vice principal told me ‘I love the shirt and I agree with it, but I just don’t think it’s acceptable for school’,” 13-year-old Rubiano told local news station KSFM. “That ‘it opens up too many doors for conversation’.”

Bambi Crozier, Rubiano’s mother, says she was not informed when her daughter was asked to change clothes, contrary to the school’s official policy.

College Student Told to Remove American Flag from Balcony, as it “Could Offend Foreign People”

What country are we living in?

A San Diego University sophomore being told to remove the American flag from his balcony, because it might offend some of the foreign students living in the same apartment complex.

Brad Smith, who had just moved into the Boulevard 63 apartment complex in San Diego last month, told ABC 10 News that he received a written notice to remove the flag a few days ago.

“We were then told that it was for political reasons and that the flag could offend foreign people that live here, foreign exchange students,” Smith said. “I’ve had friends and family fight to defend that flag.”

The Utter Failure of Obama

Consider first his signature achievement, Obamacare. Not only has Obama had to delay implementation, creating a perfect precedent for his Republican successor to do the same, but the law is more unpopular today than it has ever been according to all polling data.

Pew Research reports that 55% of Americans disapprove of Obamacare. A clear plurality of Americans believe that they will be worse off because of Obamacare. CBS News lists the “strongly approve” of Obamacare at 16%, while “strongly disapprove” is a whopping 47%. Every polling organization, no matter how the question is worded, shows the same public disdain for this law.

The fear conservatives had that a new entitlement will create a permanent constituency may not happen this time, because Obamacare, unlike Social Security or Medicare, helps almost no one and hurts a lot of people. Moreover, by foolishly rejecting a bipartisan reform, Obama and his party cannot claim broad support for his law.

This political hack, who had the power to do anything during his first two years, could think of nothing more imaginative than (1) spending federal dollars like water based upon the ancient and failed “stimulus” idea and (2) implementing an even greater failure – ask any Briton or Canadian – of nationalized health insurance simply, one suspects, because Barry had no keener mind or greater imagination than to pick up tired ideas of British Socialism eighty years old.

No Reporters, Non-Residents Allowed Inside Justice Department’s Ferguson Town Hall Meetings

Alaska Television Reporter Quits On Air to Promote Medical Marijuana Business

Photo Credit: YouTubeAfter reporting on the Alaska Cannabis Club on Sunday night’s broadcast, KTVA’s Charlo Greene identified herself as the business’s owner.

“Everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all my energy toward fighting for freedom and for fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,” she said. She then used an expletive to quit her job and walked off-camera.

In a statement on KTVA’s website, news director Bert Rudman apologized for Greene’s “inappropriate language” and said she was terminated.

Greene is the professional name used by Charlene Egbe. She told The Associated Press on Monday that she knew about a month ago that she would be leaving the way she did. No one else at the station knew anything about it, she said.

IRS Official Who Called Conseratives A**holes Says She "Isn't a Political Person," Plays Victim in New Interview

In the piece, Lerner portrays herself as being unfairly attacked by the very groups she spent years inappropriately targeting.

Lerner, for her part, assumes she is at the center of the storm because “I was the person who announced it. I assume the other part of it is because I declined to talk, and once I declined to talk, they could say anything they wanted, and they knew I couldn’t say anything back.”

Oh, and she wants everyone to know how apolitical she is too. This is the same woman who was in contact with the Department of Justice about putting tea party leaders behind bars for “lying” about political activity and the same woman who called conservatives crazies and a**holes in an email. Speaking of those crazy a**holes, according to Lerner and her husband, Mark Levin and his listeners were the source of that comment.

They’ve released partial emails, including one after President Barack Obama’s reelection in which she and Miles bemoan far-right conservative talk radio, calling them “crazies” and “a—holes.”
