Utah Lawmaker Moves to Disarm BLM, IRS, Says ‘They’re Not Paramilitary Units’

Rep. Chris Stewart of Utah, concerned about the armed agents that surrounded Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s property, is mulling a measure to cut funding for any “paramilitary units” that work for the Bureau of Land Management, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal regulatory agencies.

“There are lots of people who are really concerned when the BLM shows up with its own SWAT team,” he said, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. “They’re regulatory agencies. They’re not paramilitary units, and I think that concerns a lot of us.”

His mulled amendment to an appropriations bill comes in context of recent BLM actions against Mr. Bundy: The federal agents armed themselves and surrounded his property, tasered his son, closed down road access to the ranch and even shot a couple of his prize bulls. The reasons? Mr. Bundy hadn’t paid his grazing fees to the federal government, but rather fought the matter in court.

Militia from all over the nation came to the ranch to support Mr. Bundy in his standoff with the BLM — and for that, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid labeled them “domestic terrorists,” various media reported.

Our Baby Boy Lived Less Than Five Hours But She’s Still the “World’s Best Mom”

Matt Wessell is a musician who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who has shared a story that is touching thousands of people. He writes at https://mattwessel.wordpress.com/ about his son who lived just a short period of time and his wife, who he rightly considers a wonderful mom despite the fact that their son didn’t live very long.

Here is the tender story from Matt as he writes it at his blog:

“World’s Best Mom”

That’s a lofty title, I know. And believe it or not, I know her. Even more amazing (to me) is that I’m married to her.

One might think the world’s best mom would be someone with years of motherly experience and a number of kids — someone who has been doing it for a long time. My wife, Katie, doesn’t come close to qualifying under those terms.

You see, we’re new parents. Our first son, Randol Thomas, was born on Thursday at 12:56 a.m. at the incredibly young gestational age of 25 weeks and 4 days. That happy moment had a sad ending when our baby boy lost his life later that morning at 5:20 a.m. after struggling for hours to try and breathe with what we knew were severely underdeveloped lungs — something we knew would be an issue after my wife’s water broke at just 18 weeks.

So how could she possibly be crowned ‘world’s best mom’ when she has only had one child, who only lived for a few hours? Allow me to explain…

Enviro Group Accuses Wyoming of Choosing ‘Coal Over Kids’ by Rejecting Climate Change Curriculum

An environmental group is taking its fight against fossil fuel into the classroom, accusing officials in the nation’s largest coal-producing state of choosing coal over kids.

Climate Parents, which has 38,000 members nationally and aims to motivate parents “from every walk of life” to take action against climate change, has mounted an aggressive campaign in The Cowboy State after lawmakers blocked the state’s board of education from adopting a science curriculum that regards man-made climate change as a fact.

“The Board of Education could push back against political meddling and assert its authority over setting science standards, but it will take an outcry from parents and science supporters from Wyoming and throughout the country,” the group’s website reads. “Tell the Wyoming State Board of Education to stand up for Wyoming students and adopt 21st century science standards that include climate science education by signing the petition below.”

The petition, which had been shared on Facebook more than 1,000 times as of Friday, calls for supporters to back “world-class science standards” that must include instruction on climate science. It contains a photograph of six children alongside three large smokestacks and the phrase: “Coal Over Kids?”

Horowitz: Nothing Clever about Winning with Lies and Special Interest Riches

GOP Civil WarOver the past few weeks, political news outlets have been filled with articles beaming about the masterful strategy of the GOP establishment in crushing grassroots challenges. They smugly celebrate the wily tactics of Senator Mitch McConnell, the Chamber of Commerce, and Crossroads in counterattacking the Tea Party. But when you think past the initial headline, you will find that there is nothing special, clever, or innovative about their strategy. It is quite simple.

Members of the political class, which is comprised of the leaders in both parties, support unconstitutional policies, corporate welfare, amnesty for illegals, consistent debt ceiling increases, federal control of local functions, and anything else demanded by the dominant moneyed interests. In return, they receive unlimited campaign support in the form of direct contributions and independent expenditures that are carefully coordinated with their candidates through McConnell’s network of the Chamber, NRSC, and Karl Rove – as outlined by National Journal.

In comes a grassroots candidate from the country class. Needless to say, unless they are a billionaire, they struggle to collect small donations from patriotic citizens in order to develop a modicum of legitimacy and grow their name ID with the electorate. In fact, it is precisely because these candidates support principle over power that they have a difficult time raising money – at least anywhere near the scale of the political class. There is a clear inverse relationship between principled stances on the issues and raising money.

The campaign finance “inequality” has been further exacerbated by McCain-Soros campaign finance laws that place upstart candidates at a disadvantage. They lack a large network of donors, but might know of a handful of patriots who are willing to fully support the candidate. However, they are hamstrung by caps on individual contributions.

Challenging the political class in both open seats (or Democrat seats) and incumbent seats would be arduous enough if the only inherent problem was the money gap. But there are two more challenges: defining of the candidate and ideological lies.

Chris Stigall spoke with comedian Rob Schneider on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the struggle comedians face in today’s current political environment.

Schneider struck on ominous tone when discussing the path he sees the country on.

“Democracies don’t end well. We are sliding very fast towards fascism. It’s an ugly kind of thing. There’s this kind of mob mentality that we have to be careful of,” he said.

He believes comedians are pressured toward one side of the political spectrum.

Despicable: Wisconsin Dem Candidate to Hand Out KKK Hoods at GOP Convention

Wisconsin state representative and gubernatorial candidate Brett Husley will be handing out KKK hoods at a GOP state convention this weekend. When you’re a Democrat and don’t have any policy solutions, yelling “racism” will still get many in your party out to the polls.

From National Review:

A Democratic Wisconsin state representative and gubernatorial candidate is apparently trying to project a repugnant part of his party’s history on to Republicans by handing out Ku Klux Klan hoods to GOP supporters. Representative Brett Husley of Madison said he will give out what he calls “Republican Party hats” to state convention goers this weekend.

Both Republicans and Democrats have denounced Husley’s stunt. “We take serious issue with the policies pursued by Republicans that disproportionately affect communities of color, but this type of behavior has no place in the public dialogue,” state Democratic chairman said. His Republican counterpart called Husley’s plans “a reprehensible, vile stunt.”

Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Appeal for NDAA; Constitutional Attorney Says Law Shreds Bill of Rights (+video)

bill-of-rights SCThe personal freedoms of Americans are now in tatters following the refusal of the U.S. Supreme Court to hear an appeal to knock down the National Defense Authorization Act, constitutional and election law attorney William Olson says.

“This is a rather remarkable shredding of the Bill of Rights,” Olson told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“The National Defense Authorization Act … [has] this rather amazing authority to grant to the military the ability to pick up people … who support in some way al-Qaida or the Taliban or associated forces.”

But he explained that the language of the act is so “loose,” that anybody can be picked up for any reason.

“The president of the United States … [has] this power to detain indefinitely without charges, without trial, without an arrest warrant, without a grand jury, just to be able to hold someone who they think might be a threat of some sort,” Olson said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dismissed the Benghazi-related emails recently released by the White House as nothing new, refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing by the administration.

“I haven’t seen it, but I will say this again — diversion, subterfuge — Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi. Why aren’t we talking about something else?” Pelosi said at Thursday’s press conference responding to a question from Breitbart News. “What I know of what I’ve read in the press about the emails was what was put out there before. I don’t think there was anything new there.”

Poll: GOP Voters Like Huckabee Most, Say He’s Best Qualified

Republicans like former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee the most and consider him the best qualified potential GOP presidential candidate among the major contenders. But, as with the rest, they aren’t psyched for him to run, according to a new Economist/YouGov.com survey.

Some 72 percent of Republicans like Huckabee, a Fox host and conservative populist. That beats Sen. Rand Paul, at 66 percent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 62 percent, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 60 percent.

And 51 percent of Republicans also view him as qualified to be president, more than the rest again.

But as previous Economist/YouGov.com polls have shown, there is no GOP groundswell of support for Huckabee or the others. Only 34 percent want him to run, slightly behind Paul at 36 percent. By comparison, the group’s survey of Hillary Clinton found that 69 percent of Democrats want her to run.
