Press Release from University of Munster

Archaeologists from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the University of Münster have discovered the remains of a previously unknown early Christian church in the ancient city of Artaxata. The find consists of an octagonal building with cruciform extensions. The team excavated parts of the church and studied it using geophysical methods. “The 4th century building is the oldest archaeologically documented church in the country – sensational evidence for early Christianity in Armenia,” remarked Professor Achim Lichtenberger of the University of Münster. “Octagonal churches were unknown here until now, but we are very familiar with them from the Eastern Mediterranean region, where they first appeared in the 4th century AD,” added Dr Mkrtich H. Zardaryan of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

Typologically, the find corresponds to early Christian memorial buildings. In the cross-shaped extensions, the researchers discovered the remains of wooden platforms, which were radiocarbon dated to the mid-4th century AD. The octagonal building, around 30 metres in diameter, had a simple mortar floor and terracotta tiles. Finds of marble indicate that it was lavishly decorated with this material imported from the Mediterranean. The German-Armenian team has been in Armenia since September. They will continue their excavations and hope to make new discoveries, including the question of to whom the church was dedicated.

Background:

According to legend, Gregory the Illuminator converted the Armenian king Tiridates III to Christianity in Artaxata in 301 AD, making Armenia the first Christian state in the world. The medieval monastery of Khor Virap, just a stone’s throw from the now-discovered church, is a reminder of this tradition. Artaxata served as the capital of the Kingdom of Armenia, ruled by the Artaxiad and Arsacid dynasties. The city developed into an important metropolis in the Hellenistic period and was the capital of the Kingdom of Armenia for almost six centuries.

The Armenian-German research team has been exploring the Hellenistic metropolis of Artaxata in the Ararat Plain since 2018. The excavation project on the settlement archaeology of the ancient city is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

Time Magazine Owner Calls Out Kamala Harris for Turning down Multiple Interview Requests

The owner of Time magazine called out Vice President Kamala Harris for turning down multiple interview requests with the prominent publication as the campaign for the White House enters the homestretch.

Marc Benioff, who has owned Time since 2018, criticized the Democratic nominee on Sunday while pointing out that ex-President Donald Trump and President Biden — before he dropped out — both sat down for interviews during their campaigns.

“Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris — unlike every other Presidential candidate,” tweeted Benioff, who is best known as the founder of Salesforce.com.

“We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why isn’t the Vice President engaging with the public on the same level? #TrustMatters #TransparencyMatters #Leadership.”

In a profile of Harris that was published online Friday, a Time reporter noted Trump spoke with Time for 90 minutes during two interviews, and Biden also spoke with the mag for a similar amount of time. Majority of Americans Say Kamala Harris Hasn’t ‘Clearly Explained’ Immigration Stance

A majority of Americans say that Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has not “clearly explained” her stance on illegal immigration even as it has become one of the top issues for voters, a new poll from Pew found.

The poll of Americans from Pew Research, conducted from September 30th to October 6th, found that more than 60 percent say that Democratic candidate for president Kamala Harris has not “clearly explained her policies” regarding illegal immigration.

Multiple public opinion surveys have found that illegal immigration is one of the top issues on the minds of voters as the November election draws near.

A sizable majority of respondents in the Pew poll, 70 percent, say that former President Donald Trump has clearly articulated his plan to address illegal immigration. The poll, which had 5,110 respondents, also found that majorities also believe that Harris has not clearly explained her positions on strengthening the economy, foreign policy, the wars between Russia and Ukraine or Israel and Hamas, or healthcare. Abortion was the only issue from the list of seven that respondents say Harris has adequately explained her stance on. Armed Man Arrested Near Trump Coachella Rally Denies Wanting to Hurt Ex-Prez: ‘Complete Bulls–T’

The armed suspect who was arrested on weapons charges on his way to Donald Trump’s California rally denied the local sheriff’s assertion he wanted to kill the ex-president, calling the accusations on Sunday, “bullsh-t.”

Vem Miller, 49, reportedly claimed he’s a Trump supporter a day after he was cuffed Saturday afternoon near the Coachella Valley rally at a checkpoint — where sheriff deputies found a pair of guns and ammunition in his car.

While Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said he “truly” believes his deputies stopped a third assassination attempt against the Republican presidential nominee, Miller told the Southern California News Group on Sunday he was “shocked” by the allegations.

“These accusations are complete bullsh-t,” Miller told the news outlet. “I’m an artist, I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody.”

Miller, who sources alleged to The Post is part of a far right anti-government group, said he was invited to the rally by the head of the Clark County GOP Party, and was donning a Trump shirt and hat when he ran into authorities at the checkpoint. . .

He said he told deputies he was carrying the firearms in his trunk – as a courtesy – before he was pulled over and forced to leave the car. The car was then “ransacked” after a deputy informed him he wanted to make sure the guns were legal purchases, he claimed. TSA Air Marshals Too Busy Targeting Jan. 6, Terror Suspects to Police Migrants Flying around US Without IDs: Sources

US air marshals are so distracted tracking Jan. 6 suspects and other domestic threats that they are not devoting enough resources to policing the thousands of migrants flying around the country without IDs, sources say.

A TSA employee told The Post that Americans “should feel horrible” and “threatened” about the terrifying situation.

“None of the people that are coming through the border who are getting flight tickets are getting vetted by hardly any manner,’’ while US citizens are being forced to tightly adhere to airport security’s stringent ID requirements, the source said.

Meanwhile, federal air marshals have orders to focus their attention on targets of the Transportation Security Administration’s “Quiet Skies Program,” including suspected terrorists and, in recent years, individuals who took part in the Jan. 6 riots at the US Capitol, sources said.

“We’re scrutinizing our own people and letting other countries, other nationalities just come and do whatever they want to in our country. And Air Marshals aren’t getting put on those flights,” the source explained. Kamala Harris Mingled With Tehran Regime Operative Who Promotes Terrorism

Iranian operatives in the US fund and fuel hate on campus and spread propaganda across the country — and even get face time with friendly American elected officials, according to an alarming new report on extremism by George Washington University researchers.

In one of the report’s concerning images, Vice President Kamala Harris is seen happily mingling with an imam at the center of the murderous regime’s influence campaign.

An Iranian-born cleric who served as head of the Iranian Navy’s political-ideological office during the 1980s, Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi has deep, decades-long ties to his homeland, and has praised the Islamic Republic’s bloodthirsty founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Hezbollah, saying he would die for the cause.

Harris convened with Elahi at a vaccination event at the TCF Center (since renamed Huntington Place) in Detroit in July 2021, and planned to visit his controversial Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn, Mich., before the tour was scrapped at the last minute due to a flood, according to the nonprofit’s website.

“Imam Elahi joined the vaccination mobilization event addressed by Vice President Harris, Governor [Gretchen] Whitmer . . . and a group of state and national political leaders,” the nonprofit gushed alongside images of a smiling Elahi with Harris. Brainless but Smart? Fungi Have ‘Mind-Blowing’ Problem-Solving Power

Can organisms without a brain still demonstrate intelligence? Researchers from Tohoku University and Nagaoka College sought to answer this question by investigating the decision-making abilities of fungi, specifically their abilities to navigate around spaces.

While it might sound like something out of science fiction, the concept of basal cognition—intelligence that doesn’t require a brain—is proving to be a real phenomenon, even in organisms as simple as fungi.

“You’d be surprised at just how much fungi are capable of,” says Yu Fukasawa from Tohoku University. “They have memories, they learn, and they can make decisions. Quite frankly, the differences in how they solve problems compared to humans are mind-blowing.”

Fungi grow by releasing spores that germinate into long, thread-like structures called mycelium, which spread underground. While we usually notice only the small mushrooms that sprout on the surface, beneath the ground lies a vast network of interconnected mycelium. This network operates similarly to the neural connections in a brain, allowing fungi to gather and share information about their surroundings.

The study explored how wood-decaying fungi, specifically their mycelial networks, responded to different spatial arrangements of wood blocks. Researchers placed the blocks in two configurations: a circle and a cross. If the fungi lacked decision-making abilities, they would have grown evenly from a central point, without regard to the position of the blocks. However, what the researchers observed suggested a more complex behavior. (Read more from “Brainless but Smart? Fungi Have ‘Mind-Blowing’ Problem-Solving Power” HERE)

Kamala Harris’ Career Of Releasing Murderers And Drug Dealers Proves She Won’t Be ‘Tough On Crime’

Kamala Devi Harris often points to her time as a prosecutor to prove she is a tough-on-crime champion of public safety. And since she is so proud of her record, if elected president, she will try to implement the same policies she tried before. But the truth is that her disastrous policies as the San Francisco district attorney (DA) increased crime, freed murderers, and cost lives.

Harris oversaw crime in San Francisco as DA from 2004 to 2010. In her first year, San Francisco saw the violent crime rate increase 19 percent, an upward trend that continued for much of her reign. Her policies, implemented and proposed, drew criticism from longtime law enforcement experts.

Former San Francisco prosecutor Jim Hammer, who worked in the district attorney’s office just prior to Harris being sworn in, wrote a scathing 2006 editorial in SFGate criticizing her lenient plea bargains for violent criminals, describing case after case where violent criminals quickly got out of jail and offended again, harming more victims.

Hammer mentioned Dwayne Reed, who, with six previous felony convictions, took a plea bargain to serve just five years for his part in the murder of a man, in exchange for his testimony against the other murderer. Under Harris’ direction, Reed was released just two days after testifying. Just eight months later, Hammer wrote, Reed murdered another man in another county and was convicted and finally sentenced to life in prison.

Scott McAlpin, a longtime domestic violence offender, got a plea deal that got him out of prison in less than a year. A few months after his release, he murdered Anastasia Melnitchenko, “the woman he had repeatedly terrorized, ultimately dumping her body in a car trunk,” Hammer related. Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Elevates First-Ever ‘Trans’ Clone Trooper

By now, many Americans are familiar with leftists’ unhealthy obsession with forcing transgenderism onto adults and children alike. But as it turns out, these delusions about biological sex are also popping up in a galaxy far, far away.

In their latest act of left-wing activism, The Walt Disney Company’s “Star Wars” brand is giving fans a look at its first-ever trans-identifying clone trooper, named “Sister.” According to Breitbart News, the character was originally introduced in a young adult novel two years ago but is now getting his first visual appearance in a new “Star Wars” encyclopedia.

For those unfamiliar with the “Star Wars” universe, clone troopers are human clones of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, a man. Having been created with Fett’s DNA, all clones look identical to one another, sharing the same face, voice, and other physical features.

According to Bounding Into Comics, the “illustrated encyclopedia [is] intended for kids [and] written from the perspective of Bad Batch’s Captain Rex.” The outlet shared a quote from the book in which Rex refers to “Sister” using female pronouns.

“When one of our kind expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers, she [feared] she’d have to hide who she truly was inside,” Rex said, according to the outlet. “Fortunately, her brothers in the 7th Sky Corps gave her the name Sister as a constant reminder that she belonged.” (Read more from “Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Elevates First-Ever ‘Trans’ Clone Trooper” HERE)

Possible Assassination Attempt Thwarted? Man Arrested at Trump Rally With Loaded Guns

A 49-year-old man from Las Vegas was arrested Saturday afternoon outside the rally for former President Donald Trump in Coachella, California, after authorities discovered he was in possession of both a loaded shotgun and a handgun. At least one of the firearms was confirmed to be loaded.

According to reports from the New York Post, the shotgun was definitively loaded, while other outlets indicated that the handgun may also have been in a similar state. Along with the firearms, law enforcement officials found a “high capacity” magazine in the man’s possession. This magazine exceeds the legal limits set by California, which is known for its strict gun control laws.

In addition to the firearms, authorities noted that the arrested individual had multiple driver’s licenses and several passports under different names, prompting further investigation into his identity and intentions.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office addressed concerns about safety, stating, “This incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event.” Despite the alarming nature of the discovery, the sheriff’s office emphasized that the situation was contained without posing a threat to those at the rally.
