Majority: IRS Blunders Grounds for Impeachment

Let’s see, under Barack Obama the IRS targeted conservatives and Christians with harassment, dozens of “czars” were appointed, Arizona was sued for trying to enforce federal immigration laws, the government refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act and the National Security Agency spied on Americans.

No wonder more conservative Americans already have been wondering why Obama is allowed to get away with such antics and whether impeachment might not be the solution the Founders ordered.

But now the worry is spreading, with a new poll showing most American voters believe there are multiple grounds for Obama’s impeachment.

The national telephone survey of registered voters by Wenzel Strategies was done Aug. 23-28 with a margin of error of 3.67 percentage points.

It has been revealed that under Obama’s watch, the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservatives with harassment that curbed their influence during the 2012 election, which Obama won.

States Promoting Insurance Exchanges: Maybe People Will Enroll if We Don’t Call it ‘Obamacare’

National polls continue to show that the public is very wary about Obamacare—44 percent of U.S. adults think the ACA will make the healthcare situation in this country worse, according to a recent Gallup poll, and a Kaiser Family Foundation poll from last week shows 42 percent of Americans disapprove of Obamacare, while 37 percent favor it. With this level of unease about the law, the states that are running their own health-insurance marketplaces have developed a marketing strategy to boost enrollment: call it anything but Obamacare.

At the Minnesota State Fair, state employees are promoting a health-insurance marketplace called MNsure by handing out fans imprinted with pictures of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

The legendary lumberjack and his sidekick are just part of a pitch—including a humorous reference to the state as the “land of 10,000 reasons to get health insurance”—that seeks to sidestep references to “Obamacare” or the long-raging national debate over the Affordable Care Act and instead promote the marketplace as a home-grown creation.

Matt Drudge, founder and editor of the conservative website the Drudge Report, took to Twitter Tuesday to voice his displeasure with the Republican Party.

Tuesday morning, Drudge tweeted:

His rhetorical question was preceded by the assertion that there are no longer differences between Republicans and Democrats. “It’s now Authoritarian vs. Libertarian. Since Democrats vs. Republicans has been obliterated, no real difference between parties…” he wrote.

John Paul’s Canonization Date Set

Pope John Paul II will be canonized on April 27 next year, a top Vatican source has told Newsmax exclusively.

Although the Vatican has not officially confirmed the date, Pope Francis has already let it be known in a private conversation that the Sunday after Easter is the date he wants for the ceremony.

When asked by an official close to the Pope’s inner circle whether a date had been set, Francis responded with a laugh and replied: “I can tell you now if you like! It will be April 27.”

The source told Newsmax: “I was surprised by his frankness, but he took a step back, laughed and then [said] the date. He was surrounded by top officials who didn’t seem to mind.”

Among those within earshot was Archbishop Georg Ganswein, prefect of the Pontifical Household, who will be partly responsible for organizing the canonization ceremony.

Obama Enraged Gun Control Couldn’t Pass Democrat-Led Senate

The kind of gun control laws that were making it so ridiculously difficult for me to get a gun for self-defense in D.C. have been out of reach for the anti-gun politicians on the national level since 1994.

Capitol Hill has been pro-gun since the Republican takeover of the House that year, in the wake of President Clinton signing the “assault weapons” ban. No major anti-Second Amendment legislation has passed Congress in 20 years.

President Obama may have thought he finally had his chance after the horrific tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, but the will of the people blocked him, for now.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid never seemed to believe the legislation could pass, but he was pressured by the White House to bring it up for a vote. Sources familiar with the machinations behind the failed anti-gun bills in April 2013 believe Mr. Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg were in a rush to push the issue before the memory of Sandy Hook faded.

Politically, Mr. Obama wanted to appease his base by showing he was doing something on an issue that is a high priority for them. He also wanted to force Republicans to be on the record voting against his “common sense” gun control proposals — so he could use those votes against them to elect more Democrats to Congress in 2014.

McCain: Saying Allahu Akbar is Like Saying Thank God

john-mccain31Sen. John McCain said shouting “Allahu Akbar” is the same as saying “thank God.”

McCain (R-AZ) made that stunning theological pronouncement during an interview with Brian Kilmeade on Fox & Friends.

“For someone to say Allahu Akbar is about as offensive as someone saying thank God,” McCain said.

Kilmeade told the senator he had an issue with recently obtained video that reportedly shows Syrian rebels shooting down a Syrian fighter jet and shouting, “Allahu Akbar!”

“I have a problem helping those people out, if they’re screaming that after a hit,” Kilmeade said.

John McCain Unapologetic After Playing iPhone Poker During Syria Hearing

The elected members of the U.S. Congress will soon vote on whether the country should send missiles into Syria, intervening in a war that has already claimed the lives of over 100,000.

One would think that the matter before the Congress would at least command their attention. But, as the Senate conducted a hearing today to discuss the details of the strike, and the arguments for and against it, Sen. John McCain took out his iPhone and played poker to pass the time.

An image of McCain’s phone was captured by Washington Post photographer Melina Mara, and posted to the Post’s live blog of the hearing. The photo is blurry, but clearly depicts a game in progress.

When he learned of the picture, McCain posted a flippant response to Twitter. “Scandal!” he wrote. “Caught playing iPhone game at 3+ hour Senate hearing – worst of all I lost!”

Liberal Ideology’s Price

One of the many unintended consequences of the political crusade for increased homeownership among minorities, and low-income people in general, has been a housing boom and bust that left many foreclosed homes that had to be rented because there were no longer enough qualified buyers.

The repercussions did not stop there. Many homeowners have discovered that when renters replace homeowners as their neighbors, the neighborhood as a whole can suffer.

The physical upkeep of the neighborhood, on which everyone’s home values depend, tends to decline. “Who’s going to paint the outside of a rented house?” one resident was quoted as saying in a recent New York Times story.

Renters also tend to be of a lower socioeconomic level than homeowners. They are also less likely to join neighborhood groups, including neighborhood watches to keep an eye out for crime. In some cases, renters have introduced unsavory or illegal activities into family-oriented communities of homeowners that had not had such activities before.

None of this should be surprising. Individuals and groups of all sorts have always differed from one another in many ways, throughout centuries of history and in countries around the world. Left to themselves, people tend to sort themselves out into communities of like-minded neighbors.
