Yahoo News Reports Obama Born in Kenya

In an article published online Friday, Rachel Rose Hartman of Yahoo! News lamented that President Obama’s upcoming trip to Africa would not include a stop in Kenya, “the country of his birth.” Whoa. What?

The mainstream media for years has been lockstep behind the president in affirming his birth in Hawaii, even derisively labeling those who question the official story as “birthers.”

And in fact, Talking Points Memo reports that within 90 minutes of the story’s publication, Yahoo! News added the following: “Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the president’s birthplace.”

The wording of the story was then changed from referencing Kenya as “the country of his birth” to “his ancestral homeland.”

Coulter Warns GOP will Suffer ‘Devastating’ Consequences if Immigration Reform Passes (+video)

On Fox News Channel’s Saturday broadcast of “America’s News HQ,” Ann Coulter attacked the immigration legislation and questioned why Republicans, including junior Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, would support such legislation after suggesting otherwise during an election.

“[D]emocrats will get 30 million new voters, 80 percent of which, according to all polls, will be voting for the Democrats,” Coulter said. “Why any Republican would support this — and by the way, it is kind of striking that Republicans including Marco Rubio don’t support such amnesties when they are running for office. Oh, no, somehow it is once they get to Washington, they discover all of the unknown bounties for Republicans and amnesty. But Rubio specifically said a pathway to citizenship is amnesty when he ran against Charlie Crist a couple of years ago.”

Anchor Uma Pemmaraju asked Coulter, the author of “Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama,” why Democrats were expressing a sense of urgency in getting the bill through the Senate before the Fourth of July break.

“This is the way the Democrats always hoodwink, always snooker the Republicans as they tried to do with gun control,” she said. “‘Oh come on, you have to be with gun control after Newtown. We are trying to help you out, Republicans. Why don’t we schedule the vote for Sunday?’ And the better path has been let’s think about this. Let’s see what is in the thousand-page bill. I mean this is another Obamacare-type bill where people don’t know what is in it. A real immigration bill could be one-page long — enforce E-verify and build a fence. This idea that the fence is some impossible thing — ‘What do you mean, a fence? We don’t understand and it will not work.’ You know, fences have worked all over the world going back hundreds of years.”

Hong Kong: Snowden Has Left for Third Country, US Extradition Request Rejected (+video)

By Fox News. Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who exposed secrets about the federal government’s surveillance programs, has reportedly has left for a “third country,” the Hong Kong government said Sunday.

A statement from the government did not identify the country, but the South China Morning Post, which has been in contact with Edward Snowden, reported that he was on a plane for Moscow, but that Russia was not his final destination.

Snowden, who has been in hiding in Hong Kong for several weeks since he revealed information on the highly classified spy programs, has talked of seeking asylum in Iceland.

His departure came a day after the United States made a formal request for his extradition and warned Hong Kong against delaying the process of returning him to face trial in the U.S.

Fox News confirmed Saturday that the U.S. was talking with Hong Kong officials about seeking extradition for Snowden. The talks were reported first by CBS News.

Dershowitz to Newsmax: Obama Administration ‘Stupid’ to Charge Snowden with Espionage

By Paul Scicchitano. Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz tells Newsmax that the Obama administration was “stupid” to charge NSA leaker Edward Snowden with espionage since that may give Hong Kong officials a legitimate out to refuse extradition.

“Forget about whether it’s warranted or not,” said Dershowitz in an exclusive interview on Saturday. “It’s really dumb to charge him with what might be considered to be a political offense when they’re trying to extradite him.”

In addition to being difficult for prosecutors to prove, the extradition treaty with Hong Kong “explicitly excludes political crimes and this gives them an excuse to say ‘we’re not going to turn him over to you because you’ve indicted him for a political crime,’” according to Dershowitz, who is also a Newsmax contributor.

“If they had just indicted him for theft and conversion of property — an ordinary crime — the chances of getting him extradited would have increased dramatically,” he explained. “But at this point they have really shot themselves in the foot. I don’t know why they did it.”

The Obama administration on Saturday sharply warned Hong Kong against slow-walking the extradition of Snowden, reflecting concerns over a prolonged legal battle before the government contractor ever appears in a U.S. courtroom to answer espionage charges for revealing two highly classified surveillance programs.

Now it’s Muslim Lawyers Demanding Obama’s Arrest

President Obama has appointed Muslims to high U.S. government positions, once declared America no longer Christian, is working on direct talks with the Taliban and has plans to hand over weapons to Muslims in Syria.

He has also advocated for the “Arab Spring” movement that has put hard-line Islamic leaders in power in the Middle East.

None of that, however, is good enough for a Muslim Lawyers Association based in South Africa.

Members there are taking that nation’s National Prosecuting Authority to court for refusing to make plans to arrest Obama when he visits South Africa in a few weeks. The Africa trip is expected to cost U.S. taxpayers $60 million to $100 million

MLA officials believe Obama’s drone program, through which he has ordered the deaths of numerous suspects overseas, is reason enough for him to be “investigated, charged, arrested, and tried in a South African court for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.”

Battle Raging Within US Military Over Religious Rights of Soldiers

A battle is raging in the U.S. military – over religious rights of the soldiers who defend American lives and values.

An amendment in the recently passed military budget bill actually strengthens religious freedom rights for service members, and was placed there after Barack Obama essentially ignored a similar provision last year.

“We are very concerned about his disdain not just for the members of faith in the military but the legislative branch as well,” said Brig. Gen. Doug Lee, retired, chairman of the executive committee for the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

In last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp successfully sponsored an amendment that was intended to protect the religious freedom rights of service members.

Huelskamp proposed the amendment following reports of service members facing retaliation for expressing their religious beliefs following Congress’ repeal of the Revolutionary War ban on homosexuals serving openly in the military.

Obama Declares War on Global Warming, Making Good on Campaign Promise to Bankrupt Coal (+video)

President Obama said Saturday that scientists must design new fuels and energy sources to curb carbon pollution, part of a larger plan that he will announce next week that is expected to include efforts to regulate emissions from coal-fired power plants.

The president says in an online video that his plan includes preparing the United States for the effects of such pollution, which has been connected to climate change, and leading other nations in such efforts.

The new details and the Environmental Protection Agency-led plan for coal-firing plants, under the Clean Air Act, comes as no surprise, considering what Obama said in 2008 while running for this first term.

“If someone wants to build a new coal-fired power plant they can, but it will bankrupt them because they will be charged a huge sum for all the greenhouse gas that’s being emitted,” he said.

The Obama Age of Proliferation: While the President Dreams, Nuclear Weapons Spread

‘We may no longer live in fear of global annihilation,” President Obama declared on Wednesday, “but so long as nuclear weapons exist, we are not truly safe.” He’s right about the last point, because even as the President offers new dreams of U.S. nuclear disarmament, the world is entering a new proliferation age.

Mr. Obama returned this week to Berlin to give his long-promised speech laying out his plans to rid the world of nuclear weapons. His idea is to remove those weapons initially and primarily from American hands. North Korea and Iran each got a single line in his speech, which is at least more than he gave to China, which is investing heavily in the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal. Nukes in the hands of terrorists? Mr. Obama said he’ll hold a summit on that one in 2016.

Give Mr. Obama points for consistency. Since his college days at Columbia in the 1980s, he has argued for American disarmament and arms-control treaties. When he last issued a call for a nuclear-free world on European soil four years ago in Prague, the Norwegian Nobel Committee rewarded him with a peace prize.

This week he announced that the U.S. could “maintain a strong and credible strategic deterrent” with a third fewer strategic nuclear weapons, or about 1,000 in all. He also called for “bold” cuts in tactical nukes in Europe without offering specifics, which suggests that was mostly for show.

He said he’ll work on reducing U.S. stockpiles through “negotiated cuts” with Russia. Whenever this Administration negotiates with Russia, beware. But there’s another danger. President Obama left the door open to unilateral U.S. reductions, possibly without Congressional approval.

Bill Maher Hammers Islam: ‘It’s the Liberals Here Who Don’t Quite Get It’ (+video)

bill_maherHBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher asked female Saudi Arabian filmmaker Haifaa al Mansour about the obstacles she encountered as a female filmmaker on Friday and spoke out against the nation’s governing religion of Islam.

Maher noted that some nations in the Middle East are becoming more conservative in regards to Islam after the Arab Spring, which, in his view, isn’t necessarily a good thing.

“The problem is, the Arab Spring kind of turned into the Arab Winter,” Maher said.

“Lerner Bill” to Fire Federal Employees Who Refuse to Testify

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) on Thursday proposed legislation that would require federal workers to be fired if they don’t answer questions from Congress.

The bill is a reaction to Lois Lerner, the IRS official who refused to answer questions about the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups during a congressional hearing last month. Lerner told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, “I have not done anything wrong,” then invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination on the advice of her lawyers…

“This is a statement which should not be made by federally appointed officials before a congressional hearing if they are faithfully carrying out the duties of their office,” Brooks told The Hill on Friday of Lerner’s decision to plead the Fifth…

Brooks’s bill says simply, “Any federal employee who refuses to answer questions in a congressional hearing after being granted immunity shall be terminated from employment.”

Senator Jeff Session Blasts Karl Rove and Country Club Republicans for Amnesty Bill (+video)

karl-roveHighlighting the split between big-business Republicans and their more socially conservative brethren, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) on Friday mocked Karl Rove and his allies at the super PAC American Crossroads as a bunch of out-of-touch “fat cats” who spend their time sipping drinks at country clubs.

If they paid more attention to regular people, Sessions argued on the Senate floor, Rove and his pals might have advised Mitt Romney to take a more aggressive stance on immigration, which could have put the wealthy former governor in the White House.

Instead, American Crossroads and its affiliated nonprofit, Crossroads GPS, spent more than $100 million in a losing effort that Sessions belittled.

“Now, my friend Karl Rove, from the Center for American Progress or something like that,” Sessions said in a mistaken reference to the liberal think tank, “raised a bunch of money for Crossroads to run ads in the last election that was supposed to elect Mr. Romney. Didn’t do so well, Karl. Sorry about that. Wish you’d been more effective.”
