Man Carries AR-15 in JCPenny Store

RIVERDALE, Utah – Cindy Yorgason took a picture of a man with an AR-15 strapped to his back inside a JCPenny store in Riverdale. The AR-15 stands for ArmaLite rifle, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation website.

The picture was taken Wednesday about four hours after President Obama called for a renewed ban on assault weapons.

“He had the AR swung over his shoulder. He had a hand gun in a holster on his right hip, and he had extra clips on his belt as well,” Yorgason said.

Other customers were pointing and making all sorts of faces in reaction to the gunman. “It was just something you don’t see everyday and I wanted to catch it and be able to share it with other people,” Yorgason said.

It’s legal to open carry a gun in Utah, but it must be unloaded and it must take two actions to fire.

Obama Leading Nation Into ‘Full-On Depression’

Barack Obama has led the nation into a “full-on depression,” according to a new poll that indicates only one in three people believes America is going in the right direction.

The poll shows a whopping 38 percent of Democrats believe America in general is “on the wrong track” or they are not sure.

The results are from a telephone poll conducted for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies. It was taken Jan. 9-12 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.22 percentage points.

On the basic question, 34 percent said the nation is going the right direction, 60 percent said America is on the wrong track and 6 percent said they were unsure.

The 60 percent included an overwhelming 84 percent of Republicans, a strong 66 percent majority of independents and even 30 percent of the Democrats.

Video: Failed Assassination Attempt on Bulgarian Politician Captured Live

A prominent Bulgarian politician survived what appeared to be a dramatic point-blank assassination attempt on Saturday, when an unidentified man pointed a gas pistol at his head and fired in front of hundreds of horrified onlookers.

Ahmed Dogan, leader and founder of the influential liberal Bulgarian political party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, was delivering an address at the party’s annual conference in the capital city of Sofia when the black-clad man — who appeared to have a security pass to attend the event — approached suddenly with the pistol.

Attendees gasped as the attacker placed the gun inches from Dogan’s head and pulled the trigger twice. When no shot rang out, Dogan wrestled briefly with the man as audience members and security staff swooped in from off stage.

Gas pistols are normally used for non-lethal self-defense, but they can cause fatal injuries when fired at close range.

The 25-year-old assailant, who authorities have determined has a criminal history of robbery and drug possession, was then beaten and kicked savagely by the assembled crowd.

Rasmussen Poll: 65% See Gun Rights As Protection Against Tyranny

Two-out-of-three Americans recognize that their constitutional right to own a gun was intended to ensure their freedom.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 65% of American Adults think the purpose of the Second Amendment is to make sure that people are able to protect themselves from tyranny. Only 17% disagree, while another 18% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click HERE.)

Not surprisingly, 72% of those with a gun in their family regard the Second Amendment as a protection against tyranny. However, even a majority (57%) of those without a gun in their home hold that view.

Many gun control advocates talk of the right to gun ownership as relating to hunting and recreational uses only.

While there are often wide partisan differences of opinion on gun-related issues, even 54% of Democrats agree with 75% of Republicans and 68% of those not affiliated with either major party that the right to own a gun is to ensure such freedom.

DeMint Urges Face-Off Over Debt Ceiling

With weeks to go before the U.S. reaches its statutory debt limit, some conservatives inside and outside of Congress have been getting cold feet about refusing permission to authorize new borrowings to pay the country’s bills.

But Jim DeMint, who quit the Senate late last year to become the next president of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think-tank, is urging Republicans in Congress to hold their nerve in the upcoming confrontation with the White House.

Mr DeMint, a Tea Party favourite in the Senate, said Republicans should use the debt ceiling to force the budget on to a sustainable path. He dismissed claims that a refusal to back new borrowings threatened sovereign default.

“The government itself is not going to shut down. In fact, I don’t think people are even going to notice it,” Mr DeMint told the Financial Times.

The U.S. Treasury has warned the country would run out of money to pay its creditors some time between mid-February and early March unless Congress acted to increase the $16.4 trillion borrowing authority.

Kindergartener Suspended for Making ‘Terroristic Threat’ with Hello Kitty Bubble Gun

A rural Pennsylvania girl has been suspended from kindergarten after she told another girl that she planned to shoot her with a pink Hello Kitty toy gun that bombards targets with soapy bubbles.

Events unfolded last week when the five-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop with other students, reports WCAU in Philadelphia. Details are unclear, but the girl said something like “I’m going to shoot you and I will shoot myself,” according to Robin Ficker, an attorney for the girl’s family.

The girl reportedly did not have the Hello Kitty gun or any other weapon with her at the time.

School officials in the Mount Carmel Area School District in Northumberland County later found out about the incident and sprang into action. They interrogated the little girl for approximately three hours — without her parents present – according to the NBC affiliate.

Obama Disarming Americans, Arming Terrorists

While the White House was busy drafting proposals to ban assault rifles, the last of the regulations imposed on Saudi travel to the United States after September 11 were being taken apart. While some government officials were busy planning how to disarm Americans, other officials were negotiating the transfer of F-16s and Abrams tanks to Muslim Brotherhood-run Egypt.

Obama is unwilling to trust Americans with an AR-15, but is willing to trust a genocidal terrorist group with Abrams tanks and F-16 jets. The F-16’s M61 Vulcan cannon can fire 6,000 rounds a minute and the 146 lb warhead of its HARM missiles can do a lot more than put a few dents in a brick wall. The Abrams’ 120 mm cannon can penetrate 26 inches of steel armor making it a good deal more formidable than even the wildest fantasies of San Francisco liberals about the capabilities of a so-called “assault rifle.”

While Obama has not been willing to respect the Constitution of the United States and its Bill of Rights, he was willing to arm a terrorist group whose motto is, “The Koran is our constitution, the Prophet is our leader, Jihad is our path and death in the name of Allah is our goal.” If a High School student wrote that on his Facebook page, he would be in police custody within the hour, but an international organization and national government that trades in such rhetoric gets devastating firepower from our government… free of charge.

In addition to giving the Hezbollah-run government of Lebanon two hundred M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, Obama deliberately turned a blind eye while Al Qaeda and other Islamist rebel groups in Libya received arms shipments from Qatar. Those weapons included a good deal more firepower than anything you can buy at Wal-Mart and later made their way to Mali and Syria. More weapons made their way into the hands of Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Whether any of these weapons were used in the assault on the Benghazi mission is unknown, but entirely possible.

While the Al Qaeda attackers at Benghazi were heavily armed, with the complicity of the Obama Administration, the Americans had been forced to abide by Libyan gun control laws, because while Obama was willing to bomb a country and help arm its terrorists, he wasn’t willing to allow embassy security personnel to flout firearms law in a city ruled by terrorist militias. Instead the terrorist militia of the Muslim Brotherhood was hired to provide security for the Benghazi mission… with tragic results.

Pro-Gun Movement Stages Rallies Across the U.S.

Thousands of protestors in nearly every state rallied in favor of gun rights Saturday in a mass demonstration aimed at pushing back at President Obama’s sweeping gun-control proposals.

“Guns Across America,” billed as a grass roots, family-friendly event and advertised mainly on Facebook and other social-media sites, saw Second Amendment advocates gather at “high noon” in each participating state to send a message to federal and state lawmakers.

“All I want is my Second Amendment rights. I’ve earned them,” said Don Dobyns, the Pueblo military veteran and ex-police officer who organized the Colorado event. “Nobody that hasn’t even served has a right to take them away from us.

The demonstrations were held at state capitol buildings, where discussions of gun rights and restrictions are underway in many state legislatures. In Colorado, that meant the rally was held just 10 miles from the Century Aurora theater, where 12 people were killed by a gunman in July.

But speaker after speaker insisted that Mr. Obama’s proposed restrictions, which include limiting magazine purchases and banning assault weapons, would not have prevented recent mass shootings like those at the Century Aurora or Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Planned Parenthood Exploits Martin Luther King for Fundraiser

The Wisconsin affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business is exploiting the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for a donation event, despite the fact that his niece says he would have been pro-life on abortion.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin has launched what it calls MLK Community Donation Drives that is claims honor King’s legacy.

“In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and our commitment to serving the community in 2013 and beyond, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is hosting community donation drives,” it says on its donation page.

“Please join us in our efforts to keep Wisconsin families safe, healthy and strong! Planned Parenthood locations around the state are collecting items of particular need for each local community,” it adds. “Below is the list of participating Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin locations, community/donation partners, and items being collected. Please join our efforts by dropping off your items at a participating location on or before February 1.”

The community donation drive is a fine event that assembled everything from canned goods for local shelters to personal items for women for domestic violence shelters. But Planned Parenthood slaps Martin Luther King Jr’s name on it and uses a photo of him to endorse the event, as if he would support the modern-day Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Hostages Dead in Bloody Climax to Siege in Algeria

BAMAKO, Mali — The four-day hostage crisis in the Sahara reached a bloody conclusion on Saturday as the Algerian Army carried out a final assault on the gas field taken over by Islamist militants, killing most of the remaining kidnappers and raising the total of hostages killed to at least 23, Algerian officials said.

Although the government declared an end to the militants’ siege, the authorities believed that a handful of jihadists were most likely hiding somewhere in the sprawling complex and said that troops were hunting for them.

The details of the desert standoff and the final battle for the plant remained murky on Saturday night — as did information about which hostages died and how — with even the White House suggesting that it was unclear what had happened. In a brief statement released early Saturday night the president said his administration would “remain in close touch with the government of Algeria to gain a fuller understanding of what took place.”

The British defense minister, Philip Hammond, called the loss of life “appalling and unacceptable” after reports that up to seven hostages were killed in the final hours of the hostage crisis, and he said that the leaders of the attack would be tracked down. The Algerian government said that 32 militants had been killed since Wednesday, although it cautioned that its casualty counts were provisional.

Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta, who appeared with Mr. Hammond at a news conference in London, said he did not yet have reliable information about the fate of the Americans at the facility, although a senior Algerian official said two had been found “safe and sound.”
