Simple Everyday Activity Could Slash Heart Disease Risk by 20%, Study Finds

. . .A recent study published in the medical journal Atherosclerosis found that regular stair-climbing could reduce the risk of certain types of heart disease.

Specifically, the research revealed that climbing five flights of stairs per day could decrease the risk of atherosclerosis — or atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) — by 20%.

The study, conducted by researchers at Tulane University in Louisiana and Peking University in Beijing, analyzed more than 12 years of data from the UK Biobank for 458,860 adults.

The results revealed a lower risk of ASCVD, even among those who were otherwise more susceptible to the disease.

Scientists Worried After Seeing Strange Activity From ‘Monster’ Black Hole

After two decades of observations, a supermassive black hole at the center of a nearby galaxy was discovered spinning, bolstering Albert Einstein’s century-old theories of general relativity, an astrophysicist told Fox News.

A black hole is a region in space where gravity is so strong that not even light can escape, according to NASA. After stitching together images from observatories across the Earth, scientists discovered the black hole’s jet — beams of particles emanating from the void’s axis – were moving, confirming that the mass was spinning, according to a Sept. 27 study published in the journal Nature.

“After the success of black hole imaging in this galaxy with the Event Horizon Telescope, whether this black hole is spinning or not has been a central concern among scientists,” said astrophysicist and study co-author Kazuhiro Hada from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. “Now anticipation has turned into certainty. This monster black hole is indeed spinning.”

The supermassive black hole resides about 55 million light-years away in the center of the nearby Messier 87 galaxy — also known as M87, according to the study. Scientists found the black hole’s jet moves in a predictable 11-year cycle, which over time allowed them to determine that the celestial formation spins.

“The only two properties that astrophysical black holes possess are mass and spin, and spin is notoriously challenging to measure,” Wystan Benbow, an astrophysicist for the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, told Fox News in a statement. “This discovery gives us further, independent evidence that the black hole in M87 is spinning. 12 Year Old Put Into Induced Coma After Vaping

A 12-year-old girl named Sarah Griffin from Belfast, Northern Ireland, was reportedly admitted to intensive care and placed in a medically induced coma after vaping.

Sarah’s mother, Mary Griffin, is speaking out after the terrifying experience to express support for the new vaping awareness campaign by Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS). Mary urged others to take heed of her daughter’s ordeal.

“It was a Sunday night, Sarah was getting ready for bed and said she didn’t feel great. She started coughing but because Sarah has asthma, we put that down to the change in weather as that has been a trigger for Sarah’s asthma before,” Mary said, according to NICHS.

“Her cough was no different from any other time and she used her inhaler and nebulizer throughout the Sunday night into Monday morning,” the mother added. “That morning I was taking my other two children to school when Sarah rang and said, ‘Come back mummy, I don’t feel well, I’m afraid’. I got home, gave Sarah her inhaler and nebuliser [sic] again and she seemed to settle.”

“A while later I popped out to the shop quickly and Sarah rang again, this time completely out of breath, barely able to string a sentence together, saying, ‘I need a doctor or to go to hospital.’”

Biden Says at Least 11 Americans Among Those Killed in Israel, Warns of Hostages

President Biden on Monday announced that the number of Americans killed in terrorist attacks against Israel had risen to 11, and he warned that American citizens may be among those being held hostage by the militant group Hamas.

“As we continue to account for the horrors of the appalling terrorist assault against Israel this weekend and the hundreds of innocent civilians who were murdered, we are seeing the immense scale and reach of this tragedy,” Biden said in a statement. “Sadly, we now know that at least 11 American citizens were among those killed — many of whom made a second home in Israel.”

U.S. officials are still working to confirm whether Americans are among those being held by Hamas, but said “it is likely” that is the case. “I have directed my team to work with their Israeli counterparts on every aspect of the hostage crisis, including sharing intelligence and deploying experts from across the United States government to consult with and advise Israeli counterparts on hostage recovery efforts,” Biden said.

John Kirby, a White House spokesperson on national security issues, told reporters on a call later Monday that the administration can’t confirm Hamas is holding Americans hostage, but that there are still many Americans who are unaccounted for.

Republican officials are slamming President Joe Biden’s “asinine” open border policies that have allowed in “military aged men from all corners of the world,” warning of potential terror attacks in the U.S. and the likelihood of terrorist “sleeper cells” as they point to the recent brutal attacks in Israel that saw terrorists breach the border and murder hundreds of Israeli civilians while taking dozens as hostages, warning, “Today it’s Israel, tomorrow it’s us.”

Highlighting Israel’s costly failure to secure its border over the weekend, Republicans are speaking out on the increasing threat of terrorism on U.S. soil due to poor border security that has already seen an unprecedented amount of people on the terrorist watchlist caught attempting to cross the southern border, leading to concerns of untold amounts of others who have managed to successfully infiltrate the country.

“Now is the time for bold action,” declared former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). “Here’s how America must meet the moment: 1. Rescue all American hostages 2. Provide full support for our ally Israel 3. Confront Iran and the new Axis of Evil 4. Focus on securing our own open border 5. Condemn antisemitism in the United States.”

“We should wake up ourselves. We could have the same thing happen next week to us,” McCarthy noted. “We caught more people on the terrorist watchlist in February than we caught in the entire administration. We could have cells sitting inside of America right now.”

Radicals, Muslims in West Join to Celebrate Hamas Terror Attacks (VIDEO)

Radicals and immigrant Muslims in many Western countries staged pro-HAMAS and anti-Jewish celebrations on Sunday, joining as one to celebrate the terror group’s bloody, hateful — and likely, counterproductive — assaults on Israeli civilians and soldiers.

The protests took place in cities where political and business leaders have imported millions of devout — or lapsed — Muslims to artificially stimulate the local economies.

In Australia, “A large crowd gathered outside Lakemba Station on Sunday night, just one day after at least 600 Israeli civilians were killed and thousands more injured in the largest and most well co-ordinated strike on the Jewish state in 50 years,” DailyMail.com reported on October 8:

Hamas Launches Unprecedented Terror Attack on Israel; American Citizens Killed, Taken Hostage

The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented terror attack on Israel, which has included the firing of thousands of rockets onto the Israel and the infiltration of Israeli territory by land, air, and sea. Responding to the surprise attack Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the nation is “at war” and the terrorists “will pay a price it has never known before.” Thus far, the attacks in Israel have reportedly left over 700 people dead and 2,315 wounded. Hamas claims it has captured Israel Defense Force soldiers and civilians during its assault on Israeli border towns outside Gaza. Israel’s military response –“Operation Sword of Iron”– has led to the deaths of 198 Palestinians and 1,864 people injured. The attack occurred on the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret, the final day of the annual High Holy Day cycle.

Iran helped plan and gave the final sign-off to Hamas to launch the terror attack on Israel, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued the “final go-ahead” last Monday in Lebanon, the newspaper says. . .

Biden is directing U.S. warships and fighter jets to shift towards to Israel following Hamas’s terror attack on Israel. . .

New York City’s Times Square is flooded with hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters showing support for Hamas’s terror assault on Israel. Some demonstrators, holding Palestinian flags, are chanting slogans such as “Resistance is justified” and “Globalize the intifada.”

This Activity Could Be Just as Potent as Medication in Relieving Depression, Study Finds

We’ve all heard about the “runner’s high” — but could that exercise-induced euphoria be as effective as antidepressants?

A new study from Vrije University in Amsterdam compared the effects of antidepressants and running on anxiety, depression and overall health during a 16-week period.

The study included 141 patients who had depression and/or anxiety. They were given the option to choose to take SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) antidepressants or to participate in group-based running therapy for a 16-week period, according to a press release from the university. . .

The results of the study, published in the Journal of Affective Disorders and presented at the ECNP Congress in Barcelona this weekend, showed that running and medications offer about the same benefits for mental health.

White House Roasted for Hosting BBQ as Israel Reels From Hamas Massacre

President Biden was criticized on social media for hosting a barbeque while Hamas terrorists continue attacking Israel through the weekend.

The war, which began early Saturday morning on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, has killed at least 1,100 people so far. More than 700 people were found dead in Israel, with at least 400 other decedents in Gaza.

A reporter overheard a live band at the White House on Saturday evening and inquired why.

“In the late afternoon and early evening, a live band could be heard coming from the area near the Rose Garden,” the pool reporter wrote. “Your pooler asked why a band was playing. ‘Tickling the Dragon’s Tale’: U.S. To Prepare for Underground Testing of Nuclear Weapons Without Any Explosions

The scientists in charge of making sure nuclear weapons in the U.S. stockpile are still functioning are set to start moving key components to the desert in Nevada in November to prepare for underground testing.

Those at national defense laboratories have not been able to confirm the effectiveness and reliability of nuclear warheads since 1992, when an underground test ban was instituted. However, the Associated Press reported that Energy Department officials announced on Thursday that they have figured out the next best thing, which has been referred to as “tickling the dragon’s tale.”

The $1.8 billion Scorpius project could move beyond the theoretical computing model to research, in detail, what goes into a nuclear implosion without carrying out a nuclear explosion. The report noted that this strategy could be put in place as early as 2027, according to Jon Custer, head of the Sandia project.

Custer noted that the reason why this strategy is referred to as “tickling the dragon’s tail” is because the experiment approaches but remains below the phase at which nuclear materials ignite a series of chain reactions, according to the report. The question scientists are trying to answer is whether U.S. nuclear weapons are still operative.
