Elon Musk’s X Sues State Over Alleged First Amendment Violations

Elon Musk’s X Corp. sued California to block a law requiring social media companies to publish their content moderation policies, alleging it violates the First Amendment and coerces censorship.

X, formerly known as Twitter, asserted that California’s Assembly Bill 587 infringes upon its freedom of speech under the First Amendment and California’s state constitution, according to court documents. The law mandates social media companies release reports on how they moderate issues including hate speech, extremism, disinformation and misinformation.

However, the law would have “both the purpose and likely effect of pressuring companies such as X Corp. to remove, demonetize, or deprioritize constitutionally-protected speech that the State deems undesirable or harmful, and places an unjustified and undue burden on social media companies such as X Corp.,” the complaint states. Report: Joe Biden Considers Requiring Illegal Aliens to Remain in Texas

President Joe Biden is reportedly considering a plan to require illegal aliens with dubious asylum claims to remain in Texas — a move that would see the Lone Star State absorb tens of thousands of illegal aliens every week.

Biden administration officials who spoke anonymously to the Los Angeles Times said the plan is being considered so that if newly arrived border crossers fail their initial asylum screenings, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents can more easily locate and deport the illegal aliens within Texas since they would be close to the United States-Mexico border.

An added benefit for blue state governors and blue city mayors, such as New York City’s Eric Adams, is that the Biden administration would use the Remain in Texas program to shield sanctuary states and cities from waves of illegal immigration that have spurred chaos in recent months.

For Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), the program would run counter to his years-long efforts to shield his state from record-breaking illegal immigration under Biden. His migrant busing program, for instance, has sent tens of thousands of illegal aliens to sanctuary cities — as well as Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence — since spring 2022.

Most recently, Abbott installed a floating border barrier along the Rio Grande. Biden has sued to have Abbott take it down. A federal judge this week ordered it to be removed, but Abbott appealed and has since been allowed to keep the barrier in place for the time being. European Officials Praised Ukraine’s Anti-corruption Reforms Right Before Joe Biden Got Prosecutor Fired, Memo Shows

European Commission officials praised Ukraine’s anti-corruption reforms right before then-Vice President Joe Biden successfully pressured Ukraine into firing then-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

The European Commission wrote a report in December 2015 that laid out how Ukraine was progressing in its efforts to fight corruption, months before Shokin was fired because of threats from Joe Biden to withhold a $1 billion loan guarantee from Ukraine, the New York Post and Just the News first reported.

The European Commission officials noted how Shokin was appointed head of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) after an intensive selection process.

“The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) was created, its head was appointed on 16 April 2015 following an open and competitive selection process, and around 100 investigators have been recruited and trained. The establishment of the NABU is therefore well-on track,” the memo reads. COVID Cancellations Return: High Schools Cancel Football Games

Two California high schools have canceled their upcoming football games over COVID cases among students in the latest instance of new COVID measures cropping up as the school year starts.

Esparto High School, which is located west of Sacramento, canceled its football game, which was scheduled for Friday, after six players contracted COVID and seven more players were out due to injuries.

“Ensuring the well-being of students is not only a moral obligation but also a legal and ethical responsibility,” the district’s superintendent, Christina Goennier, told FOX40.

The local county health officer, Dr. Aimee Sisson, expressed support for the school’s’ decision to cancel the game. (Read more from “COVID Cancellations Return: High Schools Cancel Football Games” HERE)

Jordan Investigates Trump Special Counsel Prosecutor Over ‘Abusive’ Tactics

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced on Thursday that his panel is investigating alleged prosecutorial misconduct in special counsel Jack Smith’s documents case against former President Donald Trump and two of his aides.

A letter sent to Smith on Thursday cites media reports about allegations that Jay Bratt, a senior prosecutor involved in the special counsel’s inquiry, used “abusive” tactics. Jordan specifically raised concerns about Bratt allegedly bringing up a judgeship application in an attempt to improperly pressure a lawyer for Trump’s associate and co-defendant Walter Nauta. In addition, the chairman noted that Bratt later filed a motion alleging conflicts of interest involving the same lawyer, Stanley Woodward.

“The Department’s mission is to ensure impartial justice by upholding the rule of law, requiring all Department employees — including Mr. Bratt — to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct,” Jordan wrote. “Mr. Bratt’s attempt to bully Mr. Nauta in cooperating, first by extorting his attorney and then by alleging a conflict of interest that precludes his attorney from the case, seriously calls into question your team and your ability to remain impartial and uphold the Department’s mission.”

The chairman demanded various documents and records related to Woodward, his representation of Nauta and others, as well as his application to fill a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. A deadline of 5 p.m. on September 21 was given. (Read more from “Jordan Investigates Trump Special Counsel Prosecutor Over ‘Abusive’ Tactics” HERE)

Chinese Influence Network Used A.I. To Impersonate US Voters

Microsoft on Thursday said it has detected a Chinese-controlled network of social media accounts that uses A.I. technology to impersonate American voters and spread propaganda to influence U.S. politics.

Microsoft’s report said the suspected Chinese influence network was similar to past operations that have been linked to the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.

The difference with the new network is that it began using generative A.I. in March 2023 to “mimic U.S. voters” and produce content that was “more eye-catching than the awkward visuals used in previous campaigns by Chinese nation-state actors, which relied on digital drawings, stock photo collages, and other manual graphic designs.”

“These images are most likely created by something called diffusion-powered image generators that use A.I. to not only create compelling images but also learn to improve them over time,” Microsoft said.

The influence network engaged in “a broad campaign that largely focuses on politically divisive topics, such as gun violence, and denigrating U.S. political figures and symbols.” (Read more from “Chinese Influence Network Used A.I. To Impersonate US Voters” HERE)

Harvard Physicist Fends off Critics After Study Reveals Possible ‘Interstellar’ Life

Harvard physicist and professor, Dr. Avi Loeb, takes exception to critics about his theories of possible alien life in the universe, especially those he calls “theologians who argue that they don’t need to look through Galileo’s telescope because they know the answer.”

“The root of the problem is having an opinion and a prejudice and behaving as if you are the adult in the room,” Loeb told Fox News Digital when asked about critics of his theories.

That was just one of many rebukes that Loeb had for scientists who have bashed his recent study, which has quickly made headlines around the country.

Loeb’s claims are based on a recent trip that he took to the South Pacific Ocean, during which he gathered hundreds of metallic “spherules.” Those spherules were made of beryllium, lanthanum, uranium and other rare elements that the professor said indicated their possibly interstellar origins.

The object from which the spherules came were “moving very fast outside the solar system,” Loeb said, “at 60 kilometers per second, faster than 95% of all stars in the vicinity of the sun. It also maintained its integrity down to the lower atmosphere, being able to sustain stress far more than encountered by all other space rocks that were catalogued by NASA over the past decade, 272 of them.” (Read more from “Harvard Physicist Fends off Critics After Study Reveals Possible ‘Interstellar’ Life” HERE)

US Insanity: First State to Recognize ‘Transgender History Month’

The California Assembly made history Wednesday after passing a resolution to recognize August as Transgender History Month, making the Golden State the first in the nation to take the progressive plunge.

“I believe that as Californians our strongest defense against the anti-trans agenda is just to tell the truth. Let’s tell the truth about transgender people’s lives, and let’s lift up the history of the transgender Californians who left their mark on our great state,” said Assembly member Matt Haney, the San Francisco Democrat who authored the bill, according to FOX 40 in Sacramento.

The development comes amid a slew of outrage surrounding school gender policies in the state, including state Attorney General Rob Bonta’s lawsuit against the Chino Valley Unified School District [CVUSD] Board of Education “to immediately halt the enforcement” of its mandatory gender identity disclosure policy.

A judge temporarily blocked the district from enforcing the policy on Wednesday.

Set to be initially recognized next year, Transgender History Month recognizes the contributions and history of the trans community while, in the hopes of some supporting the idea, raising awareness about the community’s lived experiences. Republicans Ponder a Replacement for the Term ‘Pro-Life’

Republican strategists are saying it’s time to get rid of the “pro-life” moniker.

In a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans earlier this week, the head of a super PAC allied with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned that polling shows that “pro-life” no longer resonates with the party’s voters.

“What intrigued me the most about the results was that ‘pro-choice’ and ‘pro-life’ means something different now, that people see being pro-life as being against all abortions — at all levels,” Sen. Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, told NBC News, which first reported on the meeting.

The rethinking of the label follows a series of election losses for Republicans following the Supreme Court ruling that ended nationwide abortion access, sending abortion decision-making to the states.

The high court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, the case that overturned Roe v. Wade, shifted voters’ opinions on the terms pro-life and pro-choice, according to the super PAC’s polling. The polling results were shown to the senators in the meeting by Steven Law, a former aide for Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican. ‘Would You Give This Grandpa a High-Stress Job for Six More Years?’: CNN Host Jones Mocks Biden (VIDEO)

CNN’s Van Jones on Thursday mocked President Joe Biden over his age after a new CNN poll revealed nearly 50% of voters would prefer any presidential nominee over Biden.

Forty-six percent of voters said they would prefer any Republican nominee over Biden, with hypothetical matchups showing former South Carolina Gov and GOP candidate Nikki Haley beating the president, according to the CNN poll conducted by SSRS. Among those polled, 58% said Biden’s policies have worsened economic conditions and 70% said things in the nation are going badly. Thirty-three percent of those polled described Biden as someone they’re proud to have as president.

The poll also found 49% of Democrats are concerned about Biden’s age. . .

“I think a lot of Democrats look at these numbers and say the whispers are finally showing up in this data,” Jones said. “People are talking behind their hand. They worry about Joe Biden. Joe Biden is that grandpa that you love, that you believe in, you owe a lot — but you start to wonder, you know, would you give this grandpa a high-stress job for six more years, or would you want something else for him?”

“That’s what’s being talked about,” Jones continued. “People are scared to say anything about it, but I think it’s important for us to have this conversation now. I think it’s maybe the bottom for Joe Biden. He may go up as the economy improves, but right now, the economy is getting better and fears about the economy are getting worse. We’ve got to be honest as Democrats that there is real pain out there at the base of our party. People still don’t feel these policies yet. And we have to make the case stronger. We can’t just say, ‘Hey, don’t worry about it.’ We have to make a stronger case for the help that’s on the way than we have so far.”
