Report Claims Pope Francis Said Jesus Was Not God

Controversy erupted this week when atheist Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari published a serious charge in an article for the center-left outlet La Repubblica — namely, that Pope Francis previously told him in a private interview that Jesus Christ was not God. If true, this would be a blatant statement of heresy that denies the Nicene Creed and the Catechism.

According to Catholic News Agency, Scalfari, who has interviewed the pope on several occasions, said he discussed the topic of Jesus’ divinity sometime in the past. He allegedly challenged Pope Francis about church teaching by noting several scriptures of Christ expressing agony, which apparently led Scalfari to believe that Jesus was not divine. In response, Pope Francis allegedly told him, “They are the definitive proof that Jesus of Nazareth, once he became a man, even if he was a man of exceptional virtue, was not a God.”

Immediately after the article went public, the Vatican issued a rather tepid statement denying Scalfari’s claims, saying it was not a “faithful account” of what Pope Francis said.

“As already stated on other occasions, the words that Dr. Eugenio Scalfari attributes in quotation marks to the Holy Father during talks with him cannot be considered a faithful account of what was actually said but represent a personal and free interpretation of what he heard, as appears completely evident from what is written today regarding the divinity of Jesus Christ,” Matteo Bruni, the director of the Holy See’s press office, said in a statement.

After significant backlash over the wording in Bruni’s denial, Dr. Paolo Ruffini, the Vatican’s prefect of the dicastery for communications, effectively called Scalfari a liar and affirmed that Pope Francis believes in rudimentary Catholic teaching about the divinity of Jesus. Hunter Biden Invested in a Chinese Tech Company That Was Recently Blacklisted for Human Rights Concerns

A Chinese tech company recently blacklisted by the United States government over human rights concerns has business ties to Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden.

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that 28 Chinese entities would be added to the list of firms that U.S. companies are barred from doing business with, as they “have been implicated in human rights violations and abuses in China’s campaign targeting Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities.”

“The U.S. Government and Department of Commerce cannot and will not tolerate the brutal suppression of ethnic minorities within China,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

One of the added entities is Megvii Technology, a company in which Hunter Biden owns a stake through his investment fund, Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). According to Fox Business, Biden has a 10 percent stake in the investment company.

A story in the Intercept from earlier this year explains the Biden-Mevii relationship in greater detail. In 2017, the report explains, BHR invested in one of Megvii’s divisions, Face++, which makes facial recognition software.

Human Rights Watch initially issued a report in May that said Face++ code was found in an app used by Chinese police to track people in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. The organization later said that the code was “inoperable.” In April, the New York Times listed Megvii as one of multiple tech companies behind software used in China’s technological crackdown on Uighurs, but the company at the time said that it was focused on “commercial not political solutions.”

Megvii also says that the U.S. government’s blacklist decision was a wrong.

“Megvii strongly objects to the company’s designation on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Entity List, for which there are no grounds,” reads a company statement. “We are committed to making sure our technology has a positive impact on society and we are in compliance with all laws and regulations in jurisdictions where we operate.”

Megvii is a private company that is currently trying to go public, though Goldman Sachs said it is re-evaluating its involvement in the initial public offering (IPO) in light of the blacklisting. A September story at Wired points out that the IPO filing admits that police make use of its technology, but not in the context of Uighur surveillance. Instead, “It presents case studies that make its surveillance offerings sound more cuddly.”

Hunter Biden’s role at BHR and the fact that the announcement of the fund coincided with his 2013 trip to China aboard Air Force Two as part of a U.S. delegation are at the heart of President Donald Trump’s efforts to have both Bidens’ dealings in the country looked at by the Chinese government.

Trump suggested last week that “China should start an investigation in to the Bidens, because what happened in China was just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.” A Chinese official responded this week that the country has “no intention of intervening in the domestic affairs of the United States.” (For more from the author of “Hunter Biden Invested in a Chinese Tech Company That Was Recently Blacklisted for Human Rights Concerns” please click HERE)

China Warns U.S. Brands to Accept Communism

The Chinese government newspaper Global Times warned “global brands” to “make their members speak cautiously” on Chinese political issues Monday in response to an ongoing controversy following an NBA executive lending support to pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. . .

Following condemnation from the Communist Party and its puppets in Chinese society, social media, and the NBA, the NBA itself issued a statement also condemning Morey for simply challenging the dogma of a country currently maintaining a million-strong concentration camp population. The NBA has established a training camp in the same province as the concentration camps. . .

The Global Times called Americans “ridiculous” for defending freedom of speech, especially targeting 2020 Democratic candidate Andrew Yang for criticizing China.

“Morey does have the freedom to praise Hong Kong protesters, just like the Chinese fans also have the freedom to abandon the Rockets,” the Times claimed. “The problem is that Morey’s freedom is at the expense of Rockets’ huge commercial interests, which the team is unwilling to give up.”

The newspaper went on to insist that the controversy “has nothing to do with the Chinese government” – even though the Chinese government controls all aspects of the country’s relationship with the NBA and heavily regulates speech, meaning Chinese “fans” say only what the government legally allows them to. The Global Times then dared accuse the United States of using “ideological pressure” against the Houston Rockets to keep them from surrendering to China. Ecuador Declares State of Emergency as Violent Protests Sweep Major Cities (VIDEO)

President of Ecuador Lenin Moreno declared a 60-day state of emergency on Thursday after transportation workers and leftist groups began rioting against the repeal of a decades-old government gasoline subsidy.

Moreno ended the subsidy, in vigor for 40 years, as part of an economic plan to reduce government spending in exchange for a large loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Among other reforms, Moreno also announced this week that he would withdraw from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) so that Ecuador would no longer be beholden to that cartel’s production limits, increasing oil supply and thus driving down the price of gasoline without government spending.

Transportation professionals – drivers of buses, taxis, and trucks – led citywide strikes in the capital Quito, and Guayaquil, the nation’s economic hub, to protest the gasoline price increase, which would adversely impact their businesses. The strikes rapidly turned into chaos as protesters threw Molotov cocktails, burned tires, and blocked major roads. Businesses also reported looting and vandalism.

Moreno published a state of emergency decree on Thursday evening.

“Rights are demanded without hurting that which is fundamental for the progress of the nation: work, education, and freedom of mobility,” he wrote on Twitter. “We guarantee citizens’ security, free movement, and protection of their property”:

China Bans ‘South Park’ – Show’s Creators Hilariously Troll Them

The Communist Party of China banned the wildly popular TV show “South Park” after the show blasted the communist nation for shaping American culture by forcing American companies to not do anything it deems offensive if they want to be able to sell their products and services in China.

“Now, those very same government censors, in the real world, have lashed back at ‘South Park’ by deleting virtually every clip, episode and online discussion of the show from Chinese streaming services, social media and even fan pages,” The Hollywood Reporter reported. “The draconian response is par for the course for China’s authoritarian government, which has even been known to aggressively censor ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ because some local Internet users had affectionately taken to comparing Chinese president Xi Jinping to the character.”

On Monday, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a statement trolling the Chinese government:

Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn’t look like Winnie the Poo at all. Tune into our 300th episode the Wednesday at 10 p.m. Long live the great Communist Party of China. May the autumn’s sorghum harvest be bountiful. We good now China?

. . .The statement from Stone and Parker comes one day after the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Houston Rockets received intense backlash from across the American political spectrum for apologizing for offending China after Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted out support for Hong Kong. Morey’s tweeting had sparked an immediate backlash from the Chinese government.

2020 Hack Attack: Iranian Hackers Go After Trump’s Re-Election Campaign

Iranian hackers attempted to hack President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, The New York Times reported Friday afternoon, citing sources who are familiar with the matter but who cannot comment publicly.

The report comes hours after Microsoft said hackers made more 2,000 attempts to identify the email accounts of current and former U.S. officials and accounts associated with presidential campaigns. The sources said it was unclear what if any information was obtained.

“We have no indication that any of our campaign infrastructure was targeted,” Tim Murtaugh, the Trump campaign’s communications director, said in a press statement addressing the matter. . .

Researchers have long-warned that such attempts would increase, especially after Russia tried to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The Iranian hackers used online information to get ahold of passwords, The NYT reported. (Read more from “2020 Hack Attack: Iranian Hackers Go After Trump’s Re-Election Campaign” HERE)

Illegal Aliens Are Coming From All Over the World

If we admit 1.1 million legal immigrants from all corners of the world, should we then have to be on the hook for illegal immigration from all corners of the world? Evidently yes, according to open-borders politicians.

If you add up the population of every country with a lower GDP than that of Guatemala (about 88 of them), along with other countries that are experiencing a myriad of unpleasant living conditions, it would easily add up to a few billion people. Yet, unless we end our open-borders policies, those are exactly the people who will begin coming, even after Trump successfully worked out diplomatic agreements with the northern triangle countries to stem the flow of the main migration.

The cardinal mistake of our border policies of the past is that we have always played catch-up by being reactive to the previous crisis instead of anticipating the one around the corner. Thus, once we finally got a handle on illegal immigration from Mexico, the northern triangle migration was already upon us. Now that it appears the Central American migration might finally be in check, rather than diverting attention away from the border, the Trump administration must look around the corner to the next shoes to drop, from all over the globe. He must not repeat the same mistake of early 2017, thinking that the tough perception would deter everyone until all the policies are actually implemented.

According to final fiscal year 2019 data given to CR by a border agent who must remain anonymous because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the numbers have shot up from other countries around the globe, even as the numbers from Central American decline. Here is a breakdown of some of the biggest increases:

China – 98%
FY18: 1,077
FY19: 2,133

Brazil-1002%
FY18: 1,634
FY19: 18,012

Cuba-5982%
FY18: 194
FY19: 11,799

Ecuador – 718%
FY18: 1,613
FY19: 13,196

Nicaragua – 301%
FY18: 3,337
FY19: 13,373

These numbers should become public in the coming days when Customs and Border Protection (CBP) releases final tallies for FY 2019.

The numbers from China are particularly concerning. As I reported last week, China is our number one espionage threat and has already used immigration to spy on us. Chinese migrants are increasingly coming to our border in larger numbers almost every week, even as the overall border numbers drop. In fact, just in the first two days of October, there were 31 Chinese migrants caught, compared to 10 last year. That is a pace of over 5,650 per year, which means that the trajectory is getting worse.

Last week, I reported from agents in the field that the Chinese come under the most suspicious circumstances and are not even interviewed by the FBI. They are mainly males and always run from agents, but if they are caught, they manipulate our anti-communist sympathies to game out asylum.

Roll Call has a report out today on the longer-term increases we’ve seen from 50 different countries, most of which are non-Spanish-speaking, “including India, China, Bangladesh, Egypt, Romania and Turkey.” For example, in FY 2013, there were just 38 Bangladeshis caught at the border. This year, that number was 1,240. And while the number from India did not increase this past year, in general, it has increased 11,738 percent since 2007.

Looking ahead, it’s clear that if the president doesn’t issue a wholesale asylum reform executively or through Congress, leveraged by a temporary suspension of all asylum claims within our borders using INA 212(f), the numbers will go back up again within the next year. Those countries will pose an even more significant security risk and cause vetting problems through language barriers.

As I reported earlier, rather than representing the American citizen’s point of view and shutting off mass migration, Sen. James Lankford, Okla., and eight other red-state Republicans are demanding that Trump admit more refugees. At some point, the question needs to be asked: why should the American people be on the hook for global migration and all of its cascading fiscal and security concerns, especially when we admit so many legal immigrants every year?

Putting aside illegal immigration, when Harvard/Harris polled voters on how many legal immigrants they think reside in the country, more than 80 percent guessed that we have fewer than 10 million immigrants residing here, while 45 percent thought that we have some varying level below one million residing in the U.S. In reality, there are over 44 million immigrants residing in the country, not including the illegal immigrants, and that number is on pace to rise rapidly.

Immigration, like anything else, should be safe, be regulated in appropriate numbers, factor in the geopolitical and security concerns of the host governments, and only be done legally. The notion that foreign nationals can determine our destiny, with the American people having no say in it, is a view held only by the bipartisan oligarchy. Unless the message is sent soon that America is not a dumping ground, expect to be talking about migration from one of these other countries in the coming years the same way we did about Guatemala this past year. Scientists: Nuclear War Between These 2 Countries Would Unleash ‘Catastrophe’

A nuclear war between India and Pakistan would place the entire planet in jeopardy by unleashing a “climate catastrophe,” according to the American Association for the Advancement of Science. . .

The two nuclear-armed nations both claim predominantly Muslim Kashmir, and the territory is divided between them, with insurgents battling Indian forces for three decades. On Aug. 5, India’s Hindu-led government stripped Indian-controlled Kashmir of its statehood and divided it into two centrally governed union territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. India has also flooded the region with additional troops that enforced a security crackdown and communication blockade.

“A nuclear war between India and Pakistan — which share a long history of conflicts — would not only result in 50 to 125 million direct fatalities but could jeopardize the entire planet, causing sharp drops in global temperatures and precipitation that could devastate the world’s food supply,” writes AAAS in a statement.

Kashmir has been at the center of a number of wars, border skirmishes and standoffs between India and Pakistan since 1947 when the two countries were formed from the partition of British India.

“The authors evaluated a simulated nuclear war scenario for the year 2025 between the two countries based on advice from policy and military experts,” AAAS wrote. “They find that if Pakistan attacks urban targets in 2025 with 150-kiloton nuclear weapons and if India responds with 100-kiloton nuclear weapons, smoke from burning cities would release 16 to 36 teragrams of black carbon into the atmosphere, blocking out sunlight and cooling the global surface by 2 to 5°C (3.6 to 9°F).” (Read more from “Scientists: Nuclear War Between These 2 Countries Would Unleash ‘Catastrophe'” HERE)

Actress Forced to Apologize for Visiting Israel

Pop superstar Demi Lovato has apologized after facing backlash for visiting Israel, and insisted that “no one told” her that there would be any issue with her visiting the country.

Lovato uploaded several pictures from Israel to her Instagram account on Wednesday, including photos of her being baptized in the Jordan River, visiting the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and touring the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and museum. . .

However, the 27-year-old singer faced an immediate backlash from anti-Israel campaigners, who accused her of undermining the Palestinian cause in the ongoing conflict.

“I’m extremely frustrated. I accepted a free trip to Israel in exchange for a few posts. No one told me there would be anything wrong with going or that I could possibly be offending anyone,” she complained. “With that being said, I’m sorry if I’ve hurt or offended anyone.”

“Sometimes people present you with opportunities and no one tells you the potential backlash you could face in return,” she continued. “This was meant to be a spiritual experience for me, NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT and now I realize it hurt people and for that I’m sorry.” (Read more from “Actress Forced to Apologize for Visiting Israel” HERE)

Shocking Stories Show Sex-Selection Abortions are Killing Girl Babies

Sex selection abortion happens [https://defendgirls.com/] in Canada. It impacts both boys and girls as families seek to create exactly the type of family they envisioned, but it disproportionately impacts girls. These stories are based on true stories, showing the very real decisions made based on sex preference, allowed by our complete lack of abortion law. We need a law. . .

Catherine showed Andrew the pregnancy test. There was a glow in her cheeks that showed only a fraction of the joy that was coursing through her. After being together for ten years, countless doctor’s appointments, various medications, and still being disappointed every month, Catherine and Andrew had finally decided to try IVF. The doctor had explained the process in a friendly but serious manner, going over the success rates. . .

Andrew and Catherine went home to sleep on it, and decided to find out the sex of the babies she carried. Two girls and one boy. They talked, they cried, and then they agreed – a boy and a girl would be perfect. When they returned to the doctor, they were sure. . .

And a girl lost her life because she was a girl. . .

The stories themselves do not always overtly show the misogyny in sex selection – the stories are not all filled with women-hating men coercing their wives into abortions every time they’re pregnant with a girl. Yet, in a country that claims to value equality of the sexes, evidence has been found that a cultural valuing of males in some communities means girls are overwhelmingly targeted for abortion, especially if the family already has girls. Countries like China and India are dealing with this problem on wide-spread scale, but this is also a Canadian problem.
