A US Scientist Reveals Findings After Inspecting North Korea’s Nuclear Facilities

An American nuclear scientist who visited a secret nuclear complex in Yongbyon, North Korea, claims that Kim Jong Un’s regime is not bluffing when it comes to the dictatorship’s nuclear weapons capabilities.

As he recounted in an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday on CBS, Sig Hecker — who was once in charge of helping design nuclear weapons for the U.S. — was invited to North Korea and shown evidence of the country’s nuclear capabilities.

Hecker was at one time the director of Los Alamos National Laboratory, which is known as the “birthplace of the American atomic bomb,” according to CBS.

Hecker described his shock at being invited to North Korea, and said he was also shocked when the U.S. government allowed him to travel to the infamously hostile nation.

“I was immensely surprised by how much they showed me and with the openness with which they showed and explained that to me,” he said.

“There’s no way in the world they’re going to let me in. By the way, I also thought the U.S. government wouldn’t let me go but it turns out I was wrong on both accounts.”

Hecker first visited Yongbyon in 2004. At that point, the North Koreans were believed to be operating a small nuclear reactor.

While describing the facility as “primitive,” Hecker pointed out he thought it was functional.

“I would call it primitive but functional. And in fact, all of the instrumentation sort of reminded me when I first got to Los Alamos in 1965 you know, no modern electronics or anything of that nature,” he said.

“This is a reactor that was not very good for producing electricity, but it was very good for making plutonium.”

Indeed, the North Korean officials would go on to prove just that.

After seeing the reactor, Hecker said he was taken to a building where the North Koreans claimed to be turning used fuel from the reactor into weapons-grade plutonium.

“They just showed me the facility and basically said, ‘Look, you have to believe us, we extracted the plutonium,’” Hecker said.

CBS’ David Martin then asked, “Did you believe them?”

“The answer was yes, but I didn’t let them think that I believed them,” Hecker responded.

Hecker went on to say that the complex’s director offered to show him plutonium.

“You know plutonium when you see it,” Martin said.

“Plutonium by itself is sort of a silvery color if it’s not oxidized,” Hecker replied. “If it rusts, oxidizes a little bit, it sort of turns gray and black and this stuff was gray and black.”

Hecker elaborated on the weight and heat of the plutonium, further indicating that the product was legitimate.

“So I said … I’d like to hold the jar with the metal in it. And they allowed me to hold it. So what do I learn from holding? Well, first of all plutonium is dense. … It ought to be heavy. It was. The other thing plutonium is radioactive. So it … Glass jar ought to be warm and it was warm.”

The question remains, though — Why would the North Korean regime want to confirm the news of its nuclear capabilities to the U.S.?

“They wanted to show Sig that they really did have plutonium,” said CBS consultant Robert Carlin, a former intelligence analyst for the CIA and State Department.

When Martin asked Carlin why any country would so willingly hand over what would surely be one of the regime’s most guarded military secrets, Carlin simply asserted that it was the only way anyone would believe North Korea.

“Nobody would believe them otherwise, right? People would say, ‘Oh, they’re just posturing. Oh, it’s propaganda.’ So how are you going to convince the Americans?” Carlin said.

“You get an expert who knows plutonium when he sees it and you, you hand it to him. You say, ‘Here it is. What do you think?’”

Hecker returned to North Korea in 2010. At that time, a different part of the base was revealed to him, where 2,000 centrifuges were on display.

According to The U.K. Daily Mail, it was suspected that uranium was being manifested for use in another type of chemical bomb.

CBS reported that U.S. intelligence experts believe North Korea may currently posses enough material for 60 weapons.

However, that number is much larger than an estimate from David Albright, the director of the Institute for Science and International Security. Albright suspects the North Koreans have between 13 and 30 nuclear weapons.

But as Hecker pointed out, its less about how many they have, but rather how small North Korean scientists can make the weapons.

During his interview with Martin, the pair are shown viewing a television monitor. Looking at a spherical object on the screen, Hecker hypothesized that the object was a “spherical fission bomb” — also known as an atomic bomb.

“It looks like a simple bomb. However, what I found most important about this is the size of it. It looks to be about 60 centimeters,” Hecker said.

Sixty centimeters is small enough to fit on some of North Korea’s missiles, according to CBS.

Hecker acknowledged that the North Koreans must be taken seriously.

“They’re going to get there, you know, that’s, that’s one thing you can count on. We’ve tried to sanction them into submission. They’ve not submitted. They just keep testing and keep evolving.” (For more from the author of “A US Scientist Reveals Findings After Inspecting North Korea’s Nuclear Facilities” please click HERE)

Kim Jong Un Arming, Training Children for World War 3

Lieutenant General In-Bum Chun, one of South Korea’s most decorated military leaders in history, claims a 14-year-old North Korean gets more than 100 hours of military training each year.

This means by the time they reach conscription age and serve their time in the military they are able to fire an array of weapons, including an AK-47 machine gun, as well as launch grenades and effectively fend for themselves . . .

He added the “entire state looks for talented people” in order to better prepare the country for conflict.

One of the hermit state’s most powerful tools is its computer hacking abilities, and the caste system that dictates people’s roles is set aside when it comes to selecting recruits for this special task.

These “computer whizz kids” are selected from as young as 12 or 13 years old. (Read more from “Kim Jong Un Arming, Training Children for World War 3” HERE)

City Cancels All-Ages Naked Swim Party After ‘Volatile’ Public Backlash

Calgary city officials have canceled a private all-ages naked swim-and-slide party scheduled this Sunday at one of its leisure centers, citing security concerns as well as “volatile public commentary.” The decision comes after massive public backlash to the event that included a petition signed by tens of thousands.

James McLaughlin, acting director of recreation services, announced the cancellation Thursday following a review by Calgary Police Service and corporate security on the event, reported Calgary Herald . . .

The City of Calgary stated on Thursday in a news release that it had canceled the event “due to concerns about safety and security arising from volatile public commentary.”

“Under the terms and conditions of facility rental agreements, the city reserves the right to cancel or amend permits should special circumstances arise,” the city stated.

“Unfortunately, recent events have created the potential to impact the safety of participants, public and staff, and required the cancellation of this booking,” it added. (Read more from “City Cancels All-Ages Naked Swim Party After ‘Volatile’ Public Backlash” HERE)

Cops Destroy Evangelical Megachurch

Chinese authorities demolished the $2.6 million building of a 50,000-member evangelical congregation in the country’s northern Shanxi province.

The order to destroy the Golden Lampstand Church in the city of Linfen apparently came from China’s top officials instead of the less-powerful local authorities, according to the Christian organization China Aid.

The group explained that the communist country’s notorious military police, which carried out the demolition Jan. 9, has been under the direct control of the central government since the head of the public security bureau was arrested last year.

It’s the second large church building to be demolished in the province in the past month.

People’s Armed Police forces used excavators and dynamite to destroy the building in Linfen, which had been financed by the congregation. (Read more from “Cops Destroy Evangelical Megachurch” HERE)

Iran’s ‘Supreme Leader’ Has Conspiracy Meltdown on Twitter

The unelected Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei — who rules the country with unchecked power — has unleashed a frenzied tweetstorm, accusing the U.S. and “Zionists” of being behind the ongoing protest movement in Iran.

The tweetstorm starts with a somewhat laid-back approach to the protests in Iran, in which many are calling for his dismissal — or even his demise.

He then takes to accusing foreign western nations of inciting revolution from within, linking the concerns of protesters to an unproven coup attempt, without revealing any evidence for his allegations.

Next, he predictably loops the Jews (code word: Zionists) into the mix. Of course, the theocrats in Iran have a reputation for trafficking in anti-Semitic conspiracies. Khamenei and many top Iran regime officials are Holocaust deniers.

Khamenei then begins his attack on President Trump, who has used his social media platform and executive agencies to raise awareness about the plight of the Iranian people.

Khamenei then casually threatens action against the U.S. in retaliation for his unproven theory that the protests are a western plot.

Last, the ayatollah picks up on liberal media narratives and accuses President Trump of being mentally unstable.

Since 1989, Khamenei has ruled over Iran with an iron fist. He has attempted to chip away at Iran’s Persian heritage, instead leveraging the nation as a home base for a revolutionary Islamic supremacist ideology. He succeed the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who came to power in 1979, following the overthrow of the Shah of Iran. Japanese Astronaut Grows a Staggering 3.5 Inches in Space

Japanese astronaut Norishige Kanai said Monday on Twitter that he is 3½ inches taller since arriving at the International Space Station on Dec. 19. Weightlessness has that effect: Without gravitational force compressing the spine, fluid between the discs fluctuates as they temporarily expand, like a coiled spring unspooled from the top.

“Good morning, everyone. Today I share some serious news. Since coming to space, I have grown 9 centimeters. This is the most I’ve grown in 3 weeks since junior high school,” Kanai wrote.

Three and a half inches is a notable height difference. NASA has said about two inches of growth is typical and expected in space.

“Nine centimeters is a lot, but it is possible, knowing that every human body is different,” said Libby Jackson, a program manager for the United Kingdom Space Agency, the BBC reported. . .

“I am a little worried I won’t fit in my seat on the return trip on Soyuz,” Kanai said, though he was probably joking. Polk said the spacesuits and seat liners inside the spacecraft were designed with fluctuating bodies in mind, including expanded spines. He and others are not concerned about Kanai squeezing into the seat, each one fitted with a liner customized for and molded to the body of each astronaut and taken aboard the Soyuz to ensure a tight fit during the violent reintroduction to gravity. Russian Who Exposed Stalin’s Criminality Now Forced Into Psychological Testing

A Russian historian whose exposure of Soviet leader Josef Stalin’s crimes angered state officials is due to begin enforced psychiatric testing this week amid fears he will be falsely declared insane, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Yuri Dmitriev, 61, is on trial in northwest Russia on charges brought by state prosecutors of involving his adopted daughter, then 11, in child pornography, of illegally possessing “the main elements of” a firearm, and of depravity involving a minor.

Some of Russia’s leading cultural figures say Dmitriev was framed because his focus on Stalin’s crimes – he found a mass grave with up to 9,000 bodies dating from the Soviet dictator’s Great Terror in the 1930s – jars with the latter-day Kremlin narrative that Russia must not be ashamed of its past. . .

A previous psychiatric evaluation declared him to be of sound mind and a court-sanctioned expert group found no pornographic content in any photos… (Read more about historian forced into psychological testing HERE)

China Outmaneuvers U.S. in Pakistan and Afghanistan

In June 2017, nearly two dozen Chinese, protected by a Pakistani security detail conducted surveys and took soil samples in areas west of the Pakistani port of Gwadar near the Iranian border, suggesting the possibility of a major new construction project, according to on-the-ground sources.

In late September 2017, a delegation of Chinese, Pakistanis and Iranians, including military and intelligence personnel, met in Iran near the border with Pakistan, again close to the port city of Gwadar. It was reported that the meeting dealt with security issues in the region, in particular, between the important Iranian port of Chabahar and Gwadar.

Again, in mid-October 2017, there was another secret meeting between the Pakistanis and the Iranians on the border near Gwadar.

At the beginning of November 2017, in the first such trip in twenty years, Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa went to Iran for a three-day official visit. During his time in Tehran, he met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in an effort to expand “military and defence cooperation with Tehran, besides promoting historical and economic relations and cooperation in other areas.”

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, stated, “Leaders of both sides agreed to stay engaged for enhanced bilateral cooperation while jointly working to assist in bringing positive developments in other issues concerning the region.”

The ISPR added that the discussions included “Afghan situation, growing threat of ISIS in the region and Pak-Iran border security.”

In recent years, there have been numerous incidents along the Iran-Pakistan border in Balochistan province including; attacks on Iran reportedly by Saudi-funded anti-Shia Islamic extremist groups, retaliatory Iranian mortar attacks on Pakistani villages and Iranian drone incursions into Pakistan, one of which was shot down by a Pakistani jet.

Subsequent to the visit by the Pakistani Army Chief to Iran, however, a gathering of anti-Iranian jihadis northwest of Panjgur, were ordered to disperse by Pakistani authorities, described by villagers near map coordinates 27.179106, 63.659733.

In a more public display of Iranian-Pakistani reconciliation, during the December 3, 2017 inauguration of the Iranian port of Chabahar, the Pakistani minister for ports and shipping was standing next to the Iranian President during the ceremony. According to official sources, Pakistan “has given firm assurances to Iran that Islamabad would not become part of an initiative that targets the Islamic Republic” and Iran “has pledged that it would not allow any regional country including India to undermine Pakistan’s interests,” thus representing a “turnaround” in Pakistan’s participation in the Saudi-led counterterrorism coalition aimed at Iran.

An Iranian diplomat added, “that military and intelligence cooperation have deepened greatly in the past few months as officials from the security establishments on either side of the border speak to each other more often,” confirming the on-the-ground reports of secret meetings between Iran and Pakistan earlier in 2017.

Even only a near-term Chinese-brokered accommodation between Iran and Pakistan could represent an earthquake-like shift in the South Asian strategic environment.

That development occurs nearly in parallel with the first China-Pakistan-Afghanistan trilateral meeting in late December 2017, where Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi invited the Afghans to join the $50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and pledged to step up “efforts to forge peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

In the wake of recent confirmation that China will build a new naval base near Gwadar, Pakistan, the United States appears on the verge of being strategically out-maneuvered and may encounter serious geopolitical setbacks in South Asia and the Indian Ocean, not to mention the possibility of being nudged out of Afghanistan with little to show for all the blood and treasure expended.

Homosexual Sex Still Illegal in India, but Nation’s Supreme Court Now Reconsidering

In India, homosexual acts are punishable by up to 10 years in prison. But on Monday, the country’s highest court announced it will re-examine the ban . . .

Following a petition filed by five Indians who said they are living in constant fear of being prosecuted, the Supreme Court said a larger group of judges would reconsider the constitutional validity of the law . . .

But in 2013, India’s Supreme Court overturned the ruling and re-criminalized same-sex relationships.

This time, some justices are arguing that the law contradicts Article 21 of the Indian constitution, which says: “No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.”

After a … ruling in September, many justices in the country recognized that Article 21 guaranteed a right to privacy, including sexual orientation. (Read more from “Homosexual Sex Still Illegal in India, but Nation’s Supreme Court Now Reconsidering” HERE)

Out of Ammo, Hero Soldier Gets Creative in Decapitating ISIS Jihadi

Facing what seemed like certain death at the hands of bloodthirsty ISIS terrorists in eastern Afghanistan, a heroic British special-forces soldier who ran out of bullets acted quickly during an ambush by grabbing a spade and decapitating a jihadi in a single swoop.

Then the British soldier swiped the terrorist’s own weapon and killed more members of ISIS during a six-hour gun battle, according to the London Daily Mail.

U.S. troops moved in to help the besieged soldiers of Britain’s Special Air Service, who had been forced to take cover at a farm six weeks ago when ISIS gunmen attacked them. Eventually, two U.S. Apache helicopter gunships and a U.S. Chinook arrived to rescue the British fighters.

But before help arrived, the British soldiers were sitting ducks. They radioed for help but were unsure of whether their calls were received. So they vowed to fight to the death rather than allow themselves to be captured, tortured and executed by ISIS.

After nearly half the unit ran out of ammunition, the men began using their rifles as clubs. (Read more from “Out of Ammo, Hero Soldier Gets Creative in Decapitating ISIS Jihadi” HERE)
