ISIS Defiant: Las Vegas Gunman Dubbed ‘Abu Abdul Bar Al-Amriki’

The shooter in Sunday night’s mass slaughter of 59 concert goers in Las Vegas, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock, a man with no criminal history, is now being investigated for possible ties to Islamic terrorists . . .

ISIS claimed credit in an Arabic-language website, but authorities immediately tried to debunk the claim, saying they had no evidence to support it.

“We will investigate that down to the end,” but thus far nothing has been found to connect Paddock to international terrorism, Lombardo said at one of four news conferences held Monday on the shooting . . .

After media continued to discredit the ISIS claims, the terrorist organization doubled down by sending out an official communique identifying Paddock as “Abu Abdul Bar al-Amriki” . . .

Steven Stalinsky, executive director of Middle East Media Research Institute, noted the language posted on the group’s Amaq news agency site matched the language of previous claims that turned out to be true. (Read more from “ISIS Defiant: Las Vegas Gunman Dubbed ‘Abu Abdul Bar Al-Amriki'” HERE)

Customs Agents Make ‘Largest of Its Kind’ Discovery After Seizing North Korean Ship, Sparking International Investigation

In August, a cargo ship flying Cambodian colors sailed from North Korea with unknown cargo until it was intercepted in Egyptian waters and its contents sparked an international investigation.

Upon entering Egyptian waters, the “Jie Shun” was seized by customs agents who discovered a cache of nearly 24,000 rocket launchers and components for 6,000 more weapons hidden beneath bins of iron ore.

A United Nations report later called the interception the “largest seizure of ammunition in the history of sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”

According to a report in The Washington Post, Egyptian customs agents were informed about the suspicious bulk freighter by the United States.

An investigation by the U.N. revealed that the Egyptians were actually the buyers of the weapons, an arrangement in which Egyptian business executives ordered millions of dollars of North Korean rockets for Egypt’s military while keeping the transaction secret.

Washington has accused Egypt of attempting to conceal the transaction, contending that the Egyptians failed to act until U.S. intelligence officials alerted Egyptian authorities to the Jie Shun.

Despite Egypt’s attempt to conceal the deal, a spokesman for the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C., focused on Cairo’s “transparency” and cooperation with U.N. officials in finding and destroying the weaponry.

According to the spokesman, “Egypt will continue to abide by all Security Council resolutions and will always be in conformity with these resolutions as they restrain military purchases from North Korea.”

David Thompson, a senior analyst and investigator for the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Washington, D.C., reported that North Korea has been utilizing similar undercover weapon shipments to finance Kim Jong Un’s attempts to build a nuclear missile.

“These cover materials not only act to obfuscate shipments, but really highlights the way that licit North Korean businesses are being used to facilitate North Korean illicit activity,” Thompson said.

U.S. officials confirmed that the discovery of the weapons shipment was among the factors leading to the Trump administration’s decision in July to freeze or delay $290 million in military aid to Egypt. Still Alive? ISIS Releases Audio Recording of Reclusive Leader

The Islamic State group released Thursday an audio recording allegedly of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, dispelling rumors that he had been killed in battle.

The 46-minute recording was released by Al-Furqan news organization, marking the first time in nearly a year that Baghdadi’s voice has been broadcast to a public audience.

It is unclear exactly when the recording was made, but there is evidence that the message was recorded recently.

Baghdadi makes reference to recent events, including North Korea’s threats against the U.S. and the taking of Mosul by American-backed Iraqi forces, Reuters reported Thursday.

The recording, which was disseminated in Islamic State group chat rooms, begins with a narrator saying, “May Allah protect him.” This phrase is used as prayer for the living, New York Times correspondent and Islamic State group expert Rukmini Callimachi noted, indicating that Baghdadi was not killed as some previous reports had claimed.

Russian defense officials said earlier this year that Baghdadi might have been killed in an airstrike on Islamic State group commanders near Raqqa, Syria.

U.S. officials could not confirm the death, and Iraqi officials also remained skeptical. There were no photographs or other physical evidence of Baghdadi’s body.

Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend, the commander of coalition forces fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, expressed doubts in August that the Russians had killed Baghdadi.

“Do I believe he’s alive? Yes,” he said, according to Fox News.

Baghdadi no longer appears to be directing the day-to-day operations of the Islamic State group as it struggles to hold on to remaining territory in Iraq and Syria, Pentagon officials have said.

The recording appears to be an attempt to boost the morale of the Islamic State group fighters.

U.S.-backed forces drove them out of their stronghold in Mosul, Iraq, last month and the Islamic State group militants are on the verge of losing Raqqa.

‘BURIED BY ISLAM’ Leader Says the Weight of Immigration and the Rise of Islam Is ‘Burying British Culture’

THE weight of immigration and the rise of Islam is leading to British culture being “buried”, according to Ukip’s new leader.

Henry Bolton said there is a concern amongst people that their way of life is being “pushed aside”, and vowed to “address it” as he spoke to The Sun a day after his shock election.

The 54-year-old ex-Army officer had said he wanted to move the party away from focusing on Islam after their manifesto earlier this year contained an “integration agenda” which was almost entirely about Muslims.

And the issue had been brought back to the fore when the controversial anti-Islam campaigner Anne-Marie Waters was the favourite to win the leadership election.

Mr. Bolton, who pushed her into second place yesterday, signalled a softening stance on the issue when he spoke to the media, saying he had a “broad platform” and wanted to “move away from the focus on Islam”. ‘Allahu Akbar’ Attacker Slits Woman’s Throat in France

ISIS have claimed responsibility for a terror attack which saw a man shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ stab two women to death with a butcher’s knife in Marseille.

The victims, aged 17 and 20, suffered horrific injuries during the ‘frenzied’ attack, with one slashed in the throat and the other stabbed in the chest and stomach.

Eyewitnesses told how a man ‘dressed in black’ launched himself at the two women, who screamed for their lives as others ran for safety.

The assailant was gunned down by soldiers who were on patrol inside Saint Charles train station at the time as part of France’s ongoing state of emergency.

The suspect, thought to be aged 25 to 30, was known to authorities for common law crimes while analysis of his fingerprints came up with several aliases. (Read more from “‘Allahu Akbar’ Attacker Slits Woman’s Throat in France” HERE)

The Insane Strategy of Empowering Iran, Islamists Against Kurds

If you believe the Arabs living in Israel need a state but the Kurds should cede their state to the Islamic governments of Turkey, Baghdad, and Iran, you might be part of the Swamp.

We have spent several trillion dollars, lost thousands of dead, and ruined lives of our military fighting for our enemies in the Middle East or refereeing Islamic civil wars with no good outcome for America. Yet our government is now spitting on the one semi-stable, pro-Western, non-Islamic ally that could serve as a hedge against all our Middle Eastern enemies. We are dumping on the Kurds for taking a democratic vote for sovereignty — all for the purpose of allying with the Iranian-backed government in Baghdad and cozying up to Erdogan.

Iraq doesn’t exist any more and only existed for a few generations, drawn together randomly after WWI by immoral, arbitrary lines. Once we overthrew Saddam Hussein and handed Baghdad to Iran, there was no more Iraq. We’ve spent over a decade refereeing the Islamic civil war between Iranian-backed Shia militants and Sunni jihadists. Now, in order to “defeat ISIS,” we have essentially allied with Iran, handing them a Hezbollah terror corridor from Iran to the Mediterranean Sea.

Even worse, when Iran’s domination over Sunni areas reaches another boiling point and triggers the next round of the Sunni insurgency, our genius civilian and military leadership will feel obligated to “fix Iraq” again and bail out Iran, which is much more of a strategic threat than any Sunni group.

Enter the Kurds, who are the only successful fighting force against the Sunni insurgency but are also pro-American and can actually hold a growing area of northern Iraq in a stable way that serves every one of our interests. They voted overwhelmingly to become independent. And all the Kurds need are national recognition, a fraction of the military aid we give the corrupt Afghani and Baghdad governments, and the simple, helpful tools of statecraft we’d give to any allies. Rather than a bloody choice between helping Iran and helping Sunni jihadists, with the loss of tremendous blood and treasure, we can help a stable ally almost for free.

Yet not only are we not helping, we are rebuking the Kurds for taking up their sovereignty. The State Department said it was “deeply disappointed” by the democratic affirmation of sovereignty. Sen. Bob Corker, the king of the Iran deal, complained that the Kurdish vote was not in our national interests because it would weaken the Iranian-backed government. War is peace and peace is war!

This has emboldened the Baghdad government (aka Iran) to cut off all flights to Erbil airport, the Kurdish capital. Erdogan has threatened to attack the Kurds. Isn’t it amazing that while we pressured the Arab nations to back off Qatar, we are sitting idly by while they threaten the Kurds?

The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) declared victory earlier this week when the population voted 93 percent in favor of Kurdish independence. The Kurds are also on the cusp of winning back even more territory than they originally lost to Sunni jihadists. After we spent tens of billions training the “Iraqi army,” it fled the minute ISIS attacked. Now that the Kurds are winning back their original land, which had been stolen by Arab Baathists for the past half-century, we are siding with Baghdad to pressure them to pull back. Our government is literally siding with Iran and Shiite militias, some of which are designated as terrorist groups, in their dispute with the Kurds over Kirkuk. We are also allowing Baghdad to hold up foreign aid for them while we refuse to cut off aid to the Lebanese Army at a time when Hezbollah is more empowered than ever before.

The Kurds are the biggest buffer against Iranian hegemony. NSC director H.R. McMaster won’t say what the administration’s strategy is to stop Iranian and Hezbollah expansion in the region, which was accelerated by our own military intervention on their behalf. Now the Kurds have the ability to undermine the Iranians. Iranian Kurds are already celebrating the move toward independence and rattling the Islamic republic.

It’s amazing to ponder the breathtaking insanity of our government’s policies in the Middle East. We will invest trillions in tying a noose around our own necks, yet we won’t invest pennies and moral support to allies who will help our interests for free. Just consider how the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) just reported that we’ve flushed $70 billion down the tubes propping up the failed Afghani military in order to sustain their Sharia government, yet we won’t simply give the green light to those who have demonstrated they can secure their country and remain pro-West.

Finally, as we explained already this month, creating an independent Kurdistan in northern Iraq would kill two birds with one stone by serving as that regional resettlement home Trump has promised for refugees rather than resettling them in America.

It’s tragically ironic that at a time when we are struggling to defend our own sovereignty, we would disrespect the sovereignty of the Kurds. Yet, much like the backward domestic policy priorities of our political class, when it comes to foreign policy, friend is enemy and enemy is friend. The first 10 names in any telephone book would do a better job identifying the right investments, alliances, and strategic interests abroad than the current political and military leaders.

The question nobody in government is willing to ask is: How much longer are we going to continue throwing good money and lives after 16 years of failure in Iraq and Afghanistan? How many opportunities will we ignore while fighting for foreign Islamic countries that no longer exist?

Taliban and ISIS Claim Responsibility for Attack Targeting James Mattis

The Taliban and ISIS have both claimed responsibility for a failed rocket attack at Afghanistan’s main airport Wednesday which targeted Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said via Twitter that the Taliban launched the attack at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and that the main target was Mattis, according to CNN.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that ISIS also claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq news agency.

According to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danis, five civilians were injured, including one critically. Mattis and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who were in Afghanistan for an unannounced visit, had left the airport hours before the attack.

Citing U.S. military officials, ABC News reported that up to 40 rounds of munitions struck the airport, 29 of which were rocket-propelled grenades.

Danis said that the rockets were fired from an unknown location and landed in an open area.

Mattis’ trip was not publicized, but two Taliban commanders told NBC News that “insiders” in the Afghan security community and at the Kabul airport had leaked Mattis’ plans to them.

“We fired six rockets and planned to hit the plane of U.S. secretary of defense and other U.S. and NATO military officials,” said one of the commanders.

“We were told by our insiders that some losses were caused to their installations but we are not sure about James Mattis,” the commander added.

Mattis remarked on the attack during a news conference with Ghani and Stoltenberg, saying that he had only heard some news reports but “an attack on an airport anywhere in the world is a criminal act by terrorist.”

“If in fact this is what they have done, they will find the Afghan Security Forces continuing on the offensive against them in every district of the country right now,” Mattis said.

Mattis’ trip to the country was his first since late August, when President Donald Trump announced a new strategy for the war in Afghanistan.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani confirmed Afghan special forces were addressing the incident, and had surrounded two houses near the airport in their search for suspects. (For more from the author of “Taliban and ISIS Claim Responsibility for Rocket Attack Targeting James Mattis” please click HERE)

Trump: Military Option for North Korea Not Preferred, but Would Be ‘Devastating’

President Donald Trump warned North Korea on Tuesday that any U.S. military option would be “devastating” for Pyongyang, but said the use of force was not Washington’s first option to deal with the country’s ballistic and nuclear weapons program.

“We are totally prepared for the second option, not a preferred option,” Trump said at a White House news conference, referring to military force. “But if we take that option, it will be devastating, I can tell you that, devastating for North Korea. That’s called the military option. If we have to take it, we will.”

Bellicose statements by Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in recent weeks have created fears that a miscalculation could lead to action with untold ramifications, particularly since Pyongyang conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on Sept. 3.

Despite the increased tension, the United States has not detected any change in North Korea’s military posture reflecting an increased threat, the top U.S. military officer said on Tuesday. (Read more from “Trump: Military Option for North Korea Not Preferred, but Would Be ‘Devastating'” HERE)

400 Arrested in Crackdown on Dangerous Online Meds

An international law-enforcement effort to crack down on the online sale of illegal drugs and medical devices has netted 400 arrests worldwide, and the confiscation of more than $51 million in potentially dangerous medicines, says a report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

Authorities from 123 nations were involved in Operation Pangea X, which this year saw a boost in the number of participating African nations, many taking part for the first time.

“The sale of fake or counterfeit pharmaceuticals is a growing concern across Africa, as it creates a dangerous situation for the health of unsuspecting consumers who trust that the products they purchase are safe to use. Global actions such as Operation Pangea X are critical to cutting off the supply of dangerous medicines and apprehending the criminals behind this deadly trade,” according to a statement from the National Central Bureau of INTERPOL in Namibia.

The investigation and roundup targeted Fentanyl, a powerful narcotic that often is distributed illegally and has been linked to thousands of overdose deaths.

One of the thousands of websites shut down even was named “Where to buy Fentanyl without a prescription.” (Read more from “400 Arrested in Crackdown on Dangerous Online Meds” HERE)
