An organization that promotes homosexuality is distributing DVDs to each primary school in Scotland to teach “alternative families” to young children.

The project is paid for by funds from a national lottery, which boasts of spending millions of dollars to give people a better chance in life, make communities safe, create more sustainable services and make people healthier.

A report from the Christian Institute said Stonewall Scotland, a pro-homosexual organization, has been given almost $20,000 from the Awards for All scheme run by the lottery.

The funding will be used to pay for DVDs that celebrate same-sex duos, and they will be delivered to primary schools across the nation.

“There is a key difference between acknowledging the existence of different family types on the one hand and positively promoting them in the classroom on the other,” said Norman Wells of the Family Education Trust.

Lesbian Commander Fires 19-Year Veteran Over his Traditional Views on Gay Marriage (+video)

Phillip MonkSenior Master Sergeant Monk, who served as a First Sergeant at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, recently returned from deployment and found he had a new commander who was an open lesbian.

“In one of our first meetings, she was talking about her promotion and she mentioned something about a benediction,” Monk told Fox News. “She said she wanted a chaplain but objected to one particular chaplain that she called a ‘bigot’ because he preached that homosexuality is a sin.”

“She then said, ‘I don’t know what kind of people actually believe that kind of crap,’” Monk continued. “I knew I was going to have a rough time in this unit and I would have to be very careful about what I said.”

Issues arose when Monk was asked to advise his commander on a disciplinary matter involving an Air Force instructor who was accused of making objectionable comments about gay marriage. After a thorough investigation, Monk determined the instructor meant no harm by his comments, and suggested that his commander could use the incident as a way to teach about tolerance and diversity.

Monk, a devout evangelical Christian, says he was told that he wasn’t on the same page as the commander, and that if he didn’t get on the same page, they would find another place for him to work.

A newly-published study shows the highest-ever abortion-breast cancer risk for women of any previously-published study on the link between the two.

A Bangladesh study published in the Journal of Dhaka Medical College on risk factors for breast cancer, led by Dr. Suraiya Jabeen, found a statistically significant 20.62-fold increased risk among women with abortion histories. The new study on the abortion-breast cancer link is by far the highest risk elevation reported among 73 published abortion-breast cancer studies.

“Physical inactivity, being menopause, positive family history of breast cancer and history of induced abortion were found important risk factors,” the authors wrote.

DOD: Gay Troops Will Get Extra Time Off to Go to Same-Sex Marriage States and Get Hitched

The U.S. Defense Department announced on Wednesday that it will make “spousal and family benefits” available no later than Sept. 3, 2013, regardless of sexual orientation, for all service members who can provide a valid marriage certificate.

And what about same-sex military couples who live in a state where same-sex marriage is not allowed? No problem.

“We recognize that same-sex military couples who are not stationed in a jurisdiction that permits same-sex marriage would have to travel to another jurisdiction to marry. That is why the department will implement policies to allow military personnel in such a relationship non-chargeable leave for the purpose of travelling to a jurisdiction where such a marriage may occur,” the DOD news release said.

Egyptian Islamists Target Christian Churches in Wave of Apparently Coordinated Attacks

By Patrick Goodenough.

Some supporters of Egypt’s ousted Islamist president directed their wrath at the country’s Christian minority Wednesday, in what activists described as “the worst coordinated attacks on Egypt’s Coptic community in modern history.”

Largely eclipsed by the military’s crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood protest camps in Cairo and resulting loss of life, more than 20 churches in a number of provinces were reported to have been targeted for arson and other attacks.

Through the day news reports and social media posts drew attention to individual incidents and it soon became apparent that a concerted campaign of coordinated attacks was underway. Most of the targeted churches were Coptic Orthodox, but Catholic churches were also attacked as well as at least one Protestant church.

One of the groups monitoring the situation through contacts on the ground, the Australian Coptic Movement Association (ACM), released a list of 16 churches and related sites attacked, and said the true figure could reach 40.

Those it listed included six churches and the house of a parish priest in Minya province, south-west of Cairo, among them a Church of the Virgin Mary which the ACM reported had been “totally demolished.”

Islamists Debate Their Next Move in Tense Cairo

By David. D. Kirkpatrick.

Gathering Thursday morning around a mosque used as a morgue for hundreds killed the day before, many Islamists waited confidently for a surge of sympathetic support from the broader public. But it failed to materialize.

With their leaders jailed or silent, Islamists reeled in shock at the worst mass killing in Egypt’s modern history. By Thursday night, health officials had counted 638 dead and nearly 4,000 injured, but the final toll was expected to rise further.

A tense quiet settled over Cairo as the city braced for new protests by supporters of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, after the Friday Prayer. The new government authorized the police to use lethal force if they felt endangered.

Many of those waiting outside the makeshift morgue talked of civil war. Some blamed members of Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority for supporting the military takeover. A few argued openly for a turn to violence.

“The solution might be an assassination list,” said Ahmed, 27, who like others refused to use his full name for fear of reprisals from the new authorities. “Shoot anyone in uniform. It doesn’t matter if the good is taken with the bad, because that is what happened to us last night.”

Outspoken Fox Reporter Todd Starnes Suggests Obama is Homosexual

Todd Starnes covers “culture war news” for Fox News and has become quite a prominent mouthpiece for conservative Christians through his radio broadcasts and written commentaries. On Friday, he demonstrated his ability to stir dissension when he took up arms against President Obama for supporting LGBT athletes who might compete in the Olympics in Russia. Starnes concluded that Obama must favor gay athletes over straight athletes:

It sounds like the president is suggesting a litmus test for membership on the U.S. Olympic team.

The president also suggested that Olympic teams without gay or lesbian athletes are somehow weaker than heterosexual athletic teams. […]

Why can’t President Obama support all of our Olympic athletes — regardless of who they choose to love, regardless of their sexual orientation?

Starnes also tweeted repeatedly on the topic, asking, “What about heterosexual athletes?” As he has demonstrated a penchant for suggesting in the past, Starnes felt it important to imply that Obama must be gay himself for being so supportive of LGBT issues.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Reportedly Eyed by Republicans as Potential House Candidate

Photo Credit: APDoes “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson have his sights on Congress?

According to a new report, Republican strategists are suddenly interested in recruiting Robertson to run for an open congressional seat in Louisiana. The speculation follows GOP Rep. Rodney Alexander announcing his retirement from Congress last week, as a result of his frustration with Washington gridlock.

A special election to fill the seat is scheduled for Oct. 19.

The bearded, 41-year-old Robertson co-stars in the hit AandE reality show and is a self-described “redneck millionaire.”

“My boys want to run Willie Robertson for the seat,” an outside adviser to House GOP leadership told The Washington Examiner, which reported on the interest in a Robertson bid.

Study: Children’s Poor Motor, Social Skills Linked To Too Much Television Watching

Photo Credit: Getty ImagesThe American Academy of Pediatrics recommend children aged two and older watch no more than two hours of television per day. They also recommend that children under two watch no television at all.

According to a new study, even one hour more a day can diminish a preschooler’s vocabulary and math skills as well as classroom attention.

“Every hourly increase in daily television watching from two and a half years old is also associated with bullying by classmates, and physical prowess at kindergarten,” Professor Linda Pagani of the University of Montreal and the CHU Sainte-Justine children’s hospital said in the study.

John Kerry Gets Religion: ‘Climate Change’ ‘a Challenge to Our Responsibilities as the … Safe Guarders of God’s Creation’

Photo Credit: AP…Kerry was speaking at an event announcing the creation of the State Department’s Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives.

“I’m convinced that all of you will agree,” said Kerry, “that one of the toughest challenges that we face in terms of global diplomacy and relationships around the world between peoples nowadays, from sectarian strife to the challenges of many intractable, frozen conflicts, to the challenges of simply understanding people–one people to another–or even monumental challenges like the sectarian strife that we see tearing countries and regions apart, as well as the enormous challenges of things like global climate change, which really is a challenge to our responsibilities as the guardians–safe guarders of God’s creation.”

80 Percent of College Students Chipping in for Education

Photo Credit: APJust as the Great Depression left a lasting mark on the generation who lived through it, the children of the Great Recession may already be shifting their world view about money, judging by a new survey that says about 80 percent of them are shouldering some or all of their college costs.

“I think kids are stepping up and it requires a degree of financial responsibility,” said Linda Descano, the president and CEO of Citi’s Women & Co.

“I think it’s a huge financial wake-up call,” she said. “I think they’re really seeing, they really have to own themselves. They don’t have the security their parents did. They see their grandparents struggling to cover health care. I think they’re realizing those safety nets are no longer there. How are you going to stay relevant? You can’t just go to one place and stay there forever.”

Four out of five college students are now working while going to school, typically 19 hours a week while classes are in session, according to the 2013 College Student Pulse survey conducted by YouGov for Citi and Seventeen Magazine. The survey, released this week, was conducted online in July and considered the views of more than 1,000 college students and high school seniors.

The YouGov findings are in line with a recent study released by SallieMae financial services company that found that parents now pay for about 27 percent of college costs, compared with 37 percent in 2010.
