PolitiFact Slammed for ‘Fact-Check’ on Rittenhouse Legally Owning Gun

PolitiFact has been slammed for a “fact-check” that claimed to readers that Kyle Rittenhouse’s possession of a firearm was illegal — after the judge presiding over his murder trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin, threw out the weapons charge against him.

Rittenhouse, 18, was initially charged with possession of a dangerous weapon as a minor, but the judge tossed it after the charge — and the site’s claim — didn’t hold up in court.

Judge Bruce Schroeder agreed with Rittenhouse’s lawyers that the ban on minors with dangerous weapons only applies to those weapons that are short-barreled, unlike the one that the teen used to fatally shoot two men and injure a third.

In the aftermath of the shooting, PolitiFact had challenged a claim made by a Facebook user who wrote, “Carrying a rifle across state lines is perfectly legal.”

Poll: Election-Fraud Concerns Could Reduce GOP Turnout

A new poll of Republican and Trump voters indicates a profound lack of confidence in election integrity that some prognosticators believe could dampen voter turnout.

Only 32% of Republican and Trump voters believe votes across the nation were counted accurately in the 2020 elections, according to the survey conducted by Echelon Insights and commissioned by the Center for Election Innovation & Research, or CEIR.

CEIR’s founder and executive director, David Becker, attributed the skepticism to Republicans being swayed by “the constant lies about election rigging and stolen votes.”

Regardless of whether or not Becker is right about the 2020 election, the poll found that one of six Republican voters say they are less likely to vote in the midterms unless “forensic audits” are conducted.

However, a highly motivated GOP base turned out in Virginia earlier this month, where the majority Democrats unexpectedly lost the governorship and a chamber of the legislature. (Read more from “Poll: Election-Fraud Concerns Could Reduce GOP Turnout” HERE)

Bombastic QAnon Figure Gets Over 3 Years for Role in Capitol Riot

The so-called “QAnon Shaman,” known for storming the US Capitol in a coyote-fur headdress and American-flag face paint, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison Wednesday for his role in the Jan. 6 attack, according to a report.

Jacob Chansley, 34, of Phoenix — who had pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction — was given the sentence by District of Columbia Judge Royce Lamberth, according to CBS News. He will also be placed on probation for three years after his release.

Chansley, a former actor and a Navy veteran, became a poster boy for the riot after wild photos of him shirtless, clutching a spear and sitting in the Senate president’s chair were widely circulated.

Three days after the building breach, he was hit with charges including civil disorder, violent entry and disorderly conduct — and had previously faced up to 28 years behind bars.

After he copped to one obstruction charge in September, prosecutors asked that he be locked up for 51 months, the longest-requested sentence linked to the riot to date. (Read more from “Bombastic QAnon Figure Gets Over 3 Years for Role in Capitol Riot” HERE)

OSHA Suspends Biden Vaccine Mandate After Legal Pushback

The U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has suspended the implementation and enforcement of its controversial vaccine mandate just days after a federal court temporarily blocked the rule, citing “grave statutory and constitutional issues.”

OSHA announced it would “suspend activities related to the implementation and enforcement of the [Emergency Temporary Standard] pending future developments in the litigation,” according to OSHA’s website.

The administration’s backdown comes less than a week after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit issued and reaffirmed an explosive motion to freeze the vaccine mandate prompted by the Biden administration. On Nov. 12, the court ordered that OSHA “take no steps to implement or enforce” the mandate “until further court order.”

The rule affects more than 80 million working Americans, 31.7 million of whom are unvaccinated, and requires employers with 100 or more workers to mandate the vaccine or weekly testing. If employees refuse to comply, they risk losing their jobs. (Read more from “OSHA Suspends Biden Vaccine Mandate After Legal Pushback” HERE)

FBI Raids Home of MAGA Clerk Tina Peters — And Lauren Boebert’s Former Campaign Manager

The FBI on Tuesday raided the homes of Mesa County, Colorado clerk Tina Peters and three associates, as part of its investigation into whether the MAGA-loving official was involved in an election security breach.

“The FBI carried out a court-ordered search of Peters’ home in Mesa County early Tuesday morning, leaving her ‘terrified,’ Peters said Tuesday night in an appearance on Lindell TV, an online channel run by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a Trump supporter and proponent of discredited claims the 2020 election was stolen,” Colorado Politics reports. “Lindell said one of the homes raided by law enforcement authorities belongs to Sherronna Bishop, a Garfield County resident and former campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert.” (Read more from “FBI Raids Home of MAGA Clerk Tina Peters — And Lauren Boebert’s Former Campaign Manager” HERE)

Historic Pro-GOP Voting Gap Revealed, Potential 70-Seat Pickup

Voters socked by inflation and underwhelmed by President Joe Biden now favor Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections by a historic margin, prompting predictions of the largest gain in House seats in the modern voting era.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey just out said likely voters favor Republicans over Democrats by 13 points, 51%-38%. The survey found that Democrats are only favored over Republicans among younger voters, black people, Democrats, and liberals.

However, there is a huge 20-point gap among independents who would choose a generic Republican over a generic Democrat by a margin of 48%-26%.

While the questioning is a bit different in the new Rasmussen survey than in past years, the gap is apparently historic and even stronger because the latest survey offered the alternatives of “some other candidate” and “not sure,” said the polling outfit.

Newt Gingrich, who rode an earlier GOP wave to the House speakership in 1994, has been bullish on the chances Republicans would take back control of the chamber. He just upped his prediction to a GOP gain of 40-70 seats. That would top the 63-seat gain by Republicans in 2010, the height of the Tea Party movement and the highest for both parties since 1948. Report: More Than 100,000 Americans Died in Past Year From Overdoses

More than 100,000 people died of drug overdoses in the one-year period ending in April of this year, according to a report from The Associated Press.

Based on available data from death certificates, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that between May 2020 and April 2021, 100,300 Americans were killed by overdoses. Since reports of drug overdose deaths can take months to be finalized, the count is not official, only an estimate made based on the 98,000 reports the CDC has received so far this year.

The CDC reported about 93,000 overdose deaths in 2020, according to the AP. That number was the highest recorded in a calendar year, but Robert Anderson, the CDC’s chief of mortality statistics, said calendar year 2021 would end with over 100,000 deaths. “2021 is going to be terrible,” Dr. Daniel Ciccarone, a drug policy expert at the University of California, San Francisco, told the AP.

Deaths from drug overdoses have been steadily rising for more than 20 years, but they have accelerated in the past two years and jumped nearly 30% in the last year, according to new CDC data. Drug overdoses now account for more annual deaths than car accidents, gun violence, and even respiratory illnesses like pneumonia and influenza. The never-before-seen number is also rapidly approaching the number of deaths from diabetes, currently the seventh-most prevalent cause of death in the country. Rittenhouse Defense Asks for Mistrial

Defense attorneys for Kyle Rittenhouse reportedly filed a seven-page motion for a mistrial Monday, alleging the prosecution provided poor quality drone footage of one of the key moments of the incident to the jury despite a higher-resolution video being available.

“The problem is, the prosecution gave the defense a compressed version of the video,” the motion reads, regarding footage. “What that means is the video provided to the defense was not as clear as the video kept by the state.”

“The video footage has been at the center of this case,” the motion reads, according to the Chicago Tribune. “The failure to provide the same quality footage in this particular case is intentional and clearly prejudices the defendant.”

The defense argues the prosecution should be forced to “explain to the court why they did not copy the footage for the defendant with the same quality as their copy.” (Read more from “Rittenhouse Defense Asks for Mistrial” HERE)

Whistleblower: FBI Putting ‘Threat Tags’ on Parents Protesting School Boards

A government insider is blowing the whistle on what the FBI is doing to comply with an October 4th directive — covered by Townhall here — from the Biden administration requiring federal agents to come up with a plan to monitor harassment of or threats against school board members, administrators, teachers, and support staff.

A letter from House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) calling out Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland outlines the documents turned over by the whistleblower and demands answers from the DOJ about a new “threat tag” being used to track parents.

“The email… referenced your October 4 directive to the FBI to address school board threats and notified FBI personnel about a new “threat tag” created by the Counterterrorism and Criminal Divisions,” writes Jordan. “The email directed FBI personnel to apply this new threat tag to all ‘investigations and assessments of threats specifically directed against school board administrations, board members, teachers, and staff.'”

As Jordan’s letter continues, “The email articulated the purpose as ‘scop[ing] this threat on a national level and provid[ing] an opportunity for comprehensive analysis of the threat picture for effective engagement with law enforcement partners at all levels.'”

Kyle Rittenhouse Prosecutor Might Have Broken the Law with AR-15 Demonstration

. . .[Kyle] Rittenhouse was 17 years old at the time when he shot and killed Anthony Huber and Joe Rosenbaum in Kenosha, Wisconsin during the 2020 riots. He claims it was self-defense—and the video evidence sure backs that up. The testimony of Gaige Grosskreutz who was also shot by Rittenhouse in the arm also blew up the prosecution’s case. He admitted to being shot once he pointed his firearm at Rittenhouse. Huber and Rosenbaum were also no angels. Huber was a rapist and a wife beater. Rosenbaum was a convicted sexual predator. I’m not shedding any tears for them. Our own Julio Rosas is covering the trial at Kenosha right now.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger has been the main clown in this spectacle, making so many odd remarks and arguments that you sort of get lost in this spaghetti of insanity. The judge even reprimanded him for trying to pull a fast one when it came to the criteria concerning cross-examination. Oh, and he pointed an AR-15 at folks inside the courtroom. He was demonstrating something concerning the weapon but ironically didn’t consider basic gun safety during the demonstration which might have run afoul of the law. I’m not kidding.
