Judge Rules Dominion Lawsuits Against Trump Can Proceed

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday rejected requests from former Trump personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell that he dismiss lawsuits from Dominion Voting Systems against the three.

The ruling pertains to three defamation lawsuits Dominion filed — at $1.3 billion each — against the three defendants for allegedly claiming without evidence that the voting machine company rigged the 2020 presidential election for President Biden by manipulating votes.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump nominee, swept aside the initial claims put forth by the defendants for why the suits should be tossed, from arguments that their alleged statements were legally protected opinions or were otherwise made without malicious intent to claims that the D.C. court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case.

The Wednesday order clears the way for the litigation to proceed. Separately, Dominion this week also sued a pair of far-right media companies and the former head of Overstock.com for defamation based on statements made about the 2020 election. Mike Lindell to Present ‘Irrefutable Evidence’ China Hacked Election

Promising “irrefutable” evidence that hackers backed by China switched votes in favor of Joe Biden in the November presidential election, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell will open a three-day “cyber symposium” in South Dakota on Tuesday.

Lindell believes his evidence will be so convincing that it will result in a unanimous Supreme Court ruling to overturn the November election.

“Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, this will be the greatest uniting of our country ever,” he told the Washington Times in an interview. “Because this isn’t about politics. This is about free and fair elections and about the 2020 [election]. And you’ve got to get that righted.”

Lindell said former President Trump has no involvement in the symposium. . .

The Minnesota entrepreneur has spent about $15 million on election-fraud investigations and the cyber symposium. But the toll on his company has been much higher, with hundreds of millions of dollars in losses as retailers have pulled his products. Pediatrics Group Urges FDA OK of COVID-19 Vaccines in Younger Kids

The American Academy of Pediatrics is urging the FDA to quickly expand authorization of COVID-19 vaccines to younger age groups, citing rising cases due to the fast spreading delta variant and risk of poor outcomes following infection.

“We need to be approaching the trials and authorization of the COVID vaccine for children with the same urgency that we did with adults,” Dr. Lee Savio Beers, president of the AAP, told ABC co-hosts. “Just as it’s a serious disease in adults, it can be a very serious disease in children.”

Pfizer has said it intends to request emergency approval for use of its vaccine in kids aged 5 to 11 by the end of September, with plans to submit data on younger kids aged 6 months to 5 years “shortly thereafter.” The FDA had requested drugmakers behind authorized COVID-19 vaccines broaden the size of pediatric clinical trials to better detect for rare adverse events. Moderna previously told Fox News that it expects “to have a package that supports authorization in winter 2021/early 2022” for kids under 12. Reports have noted agency officials intend to see the first shots in kids under 12 by winter or early 2022.

Beers, however, argued the original trial size offered enough safety and efficacy data for the FDA to weigh a decision on expanded authorization. (Read more from “Pediatrics Group Urges FDA OK of COVID-19 Vaccines in Younger Kids” HERE)

17 Vaccines Mandated by the US Military Before COVID-19 Shots

The Department of Defense has announced plans to add the coronavirus vaccine to the list of mandated vaccines.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Monday that he will seek the president’s approval to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine by mid-September if the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t approve it before then. This will mark the 18th vaccine to be mandated for the armed forces, though it’s unlikely that a service member would receive all of them because many are location-specific, a spokesperson for the Department of Defense told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.

The Defense Department’s vaccine mandates are separated by the combatant commands that divide the globe into seven entities: Africa Command, Central Command, European Command, Indo-Pacific Command, Northern Command, Northern Command, and Space Command.

There are nine vaccines that are mandated for military members in any of the six earthbound commands: chickenpox, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMR, pneumococcal, rabies, Tdap, typhoid, polio, and influenza, according to the Military Health System.

Other vaccines that are required for some commands but not all include anthrax, yellow fever, and Japanese encephalitis. (Read more from “17 Vaccines Mandated by the US Military Before COVID-19 Shots” HERE)

Second Federal Court Blocks Biden Mandate Requiring Doctors to Perform Transgender Surgeries

A federal court has blocked President Joe Biden’s mandate that would require doctors to perform transgender surgeries against their consciences.

Judge Reed O’Connor of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Wichita Falls Division, granted “a permanent injunction” to the Christian plaintiffs “to be exempt from the government’s requirement to perform abortions and gender-transition procedures.”

“Today’s ruling protects patients, aligns with current medical research, and ensures doctors aren’t forced to violate their religious beliefs and medical judgment–a victory for common-sense, conscience, and sound medicine,” vice president and senior counsel at Becket Fund for Religious Liberty Luke Goodrich said Monday.

The plaintiffs are a religious hospital and a group of over 20,000 healthcare professionals, Goodrich noted.

‘They’ve Had Enough’: Dozens of Chicago Police Officers Turn Their Backs on Lori Lightfoot

More than two dozen Chicago police officers reportedly turned their backs on Mayor Lori Lightfoot on the 7th floor of the University of Chicago Medical Center Saturday night when she came to visit a critically wounded officer.

Officer Ella French was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Saturday evening and her partner was critically wounded. French had just returned from maternity leave after giving birth to a daughter.

“The police officers’ decision to turn their backs on the mayor while waiting with the family on the 7th floor was significant,” Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara told the Chicago Sun-Times after a massive number of officers showed up at the hospital to support their fallen comrades.

“Turning their backs on the mayor was an excellent example of how the hundreds of police officers felt waiting outside the hospital,” he added. “They have had enough and are no longer going to remain silent anymore.”

The mayor had been warned not to come to the hospital but did so anyway for a photo-op. The Chicago Police Department rank and file proceeded to let her know exactly how they felt by giving her the cold shoulder, according to the Sun Times. And they were not alone.

Andrew Cuomo Resigns After Sex Harassment Allegations

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday he will resign after a withering report from the state’s attorney general documented multiple accusations of sexual harassment against women. The decision heads off his almost certain impeachment and conviction in the state Legislature.

“Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to government, and therefore that is what I’ll do, because I work for you, and doing the right thing, is doing the right thing for you,” Cuomo said in a televised address, at which he took no questions.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a fellow Democrat, will serve the rest of his term when the resignation becomes effective in 14 days. She will become the state’s first female governor.

Though Cuomo, 63, apologized to his accusers, he made it clear he did not believe he stepped over a red line requiring removal from office. Instead, he framed his decision as one necessary to avoid protracted argument and divisiveness that would bring the state’s government to a halt. Senate Passes $1T Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill

The Senate on Tuesday passed a roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal, a significant win for President Biden and the first step on his top legislative priority.

Senators voted 69-30 on the bill, which was spearheaded by a bipartisan group of senators led by Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio). Nineteen GOP senators voted with all Democrats to pass the legislation.

The bill is now heading to the House, where it faces an uncertain future and skepticism from progressives. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has vowed she won’t take it up until the Senate passes the second part of its infrastructure two step, a sweeping $3.5 trillion spending package that includes Democrats’ top priorities.

But the Senate’s passage of the bipartisan measure on Tuesday gives a victory for Biden and the centrist-minded group that led the legislation, and placed big bets and months of time on the ability to get a bipartisan deal on infrastructure, one of Washington’s long-running legislative white whales. Twitter Suspends Marjorie Taylor Greene Again

Twitter has suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for a week after she wrote that vaccines are “failing.”

A Twitter spokesperson told The Hill in a statement that her tweet on Monday “was labeled in line with our COVID-19 misleading information policy.”

Her account will be in read-only mode for one week “due to repeated violations of Twitter Rules,” the spokesperson added.

Greene said in the tweet that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “should not approve the covid vaccines.”

“There are too many reports of infection & spread of #COVID19 among vaccinated people,” Greene said. (Read more from “Twitter Suspends Marjorie Taylor Greene Again” HERE)

Epstein Accuser Sues Prince Andrew, Citing Child Sex Assault

One of Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime accusers sued Prince Andrew on Monday, taking accusations that she has repeatedly publicly lodged against him, including that he sexually assaulted her when she was 17, to a formal venue.

Lawyers for Virginia Giuffre filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, where Epstein was charged criminally with sex trafficking a month before he killed himself at age 66 in August 2019 in an adjacent federal jail where he was ordered to await trial.

Giuffre has repeatedly made her allegations against Epstein, his onetime girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, and Andrew, but the lawsuit was the first time she has directly confronted Andrew in such a formal setting. It steps up public relations pressure on the prince, even if he remains beyond the reach of the courts. (Read more from “Epstein Accuser Sues Prince Andrew, Citing Child Sex Assault” HERE)
