Pediatricians Slam Effort to Remove Sex Markers From Birth Certificates

The American Medical Association is receiving condemnation from the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) following a recommendation that sex markers be removed from children’s birth certificates.

In a statement released Thursday via Twitter, ACPeds said, ”The AMA is receiving warranted criticism after it called for removing sex markers on birth certificates, with an advisory committee arguing that their inclusion ‘perpetuates a view that [sex] is immutable.'”

”Identifying sex in the public portion of the birth certificate affirms the scientific fact that sex is an innate and immutable binary trait of public significance; a trait determined by genetics at fertilization,” wrote Dr. Michelle Cretella, ACPeds executive director. She and Dr. Michael Artigues authored the organization’s position paper titled ”Sex is a Biological Trait of Medical Significance.” (Read more from “Pediatricians Slam Effort to Remove Sex Markers From Birth Certificates” HERE)

Biden May Withhold Funds From Companies That Don’t Force Vaccination on Employees

The Biden administration is considering using federal regulatory powers and the threat of withholding federal funds from institutions to push more Americans to get vaccinated — a huge potential shift in the fight against the virus and a far more muscular approach to getting shots into arms, according to four people familiar with the deliberations.

The effort could apply to institutions as varied as long-term-care facilities, cruise ships and universities, potentially impacting millions of Americans, according to the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive conversations.

The conversations are in the early phases and no firm decisions have been made, the people said. One outside lawyer in touch with the Biden administration on the issue is recommending that the president use federal powers sparingly. Pelosi ‘Confident’ Democrats Will Keep House in 2022

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, dismissing poll numbers warning of a GOP takeover in 2022, said she believes Democrats will hold on to the majority.

“I’m very confident that we will win the House,” Pelosi told reporters on Friday. House Republicans would need to net about five seats in the 435-member chamber to reclaim the majority the party lost in 2018.

The California Democrat dismissed warnings from internal pollsters that the party would lose the House if the election were held now.

The dismal analysis was presented to Democratic lawmakers by the head of the House Democratic campaign arm, Rep. Sean Maloney of New York, according to Politico.

According to the polling, only 42% of likely voters in key swing districts trust Democrats to handle the economy. (Read more from “Pelosi ‘Confident’ Democrats Will Keep House in 2022” HERE)

President Biden Extends Moratorium on Student Loans to 2022

President Joe Biden has extended the moratorium on student loan repayment, interest and collection until January 2022, the Department of Education announced Friday.

The White House has confirmed that this will be the final extension, having had a moratorium in place since the earliest days of the pandemic under former President Donald Trump.

“The payment pause has been a lifeline that allowed millions of Americans to focus on their families, health, and finances instead of student loans during the national emergency,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a statement provided by the White House. “As our nation’s economy continues to recover from a deep hole, this final extension will give students and borrowers the time they need to plan for restart and ensure a smooth pathway back to repayment.”

“It is the Department’s priority to support students and borrowers during this transition and ensure they have the resources they need to access affordable, high quality higher education,” Cardona finished. (Read more from “President Biden Extends Moratorium on Student Loans to 2022” HERE)

Report: Families Affected by 9/11 Ask Biden Not to Come to Memorial Events

A group of families of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, along with survivors and first responders, will issue a statement Friday asking President Joe Biden not to attend memorial events unless he releases classified information, according to NBC News.

The group, numbering nearly 1,800, is requesting Biden skip events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the tragedy unless he declassify documents they believe demonstrate the involvement of Saudi officials in the attacks, NBC News reported. The Bush, Obama and Trump administrations each declined to declassify the information.

“Since the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission in 2004 much investigative evidence has been uncovered implicating Saudi government officials in supporting the attacks,” the group said in the statement, according to NBC.

“Through multiple administrations, the Department of Justice and the FBI have actively sought to keep this information secret and prevent the American people from learning the full truth about the 9/11 attacks,” the group said.

Facebook, Twitter Rarely Censor Anti-Semitic Posts

Facebook and Twitter only removed a small fraction of anti-Semitic posts users reported in 2021, highlighting the difficulties social media companies face when moderating hate speech.

A new report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate found that Twitter and Facebook took down fewer than one in nine reported examples of anti-Semitism over a six-week period in 2021. The center also reported hundreds of anti-Semitic posts on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The posts include Holocaust denial, Nazi symbolism, and hashtags like #holohoax and #killthejews. The posts received 7.3 million views on the social media platforms.

The study reveals social media giants’ inconsistent approach to content moderation. Facebook and Twitter have suppressed scientific pieces suggesting COVID-19 could have escaped from a Chinese lab. But the platforms’ efforts to fight “misinformation” do not extend to anti-Semitic posts. The center emphasized that the true percentage of anti-Semitic posts taken down is likely far lower than its study reported. Landlord Out $24,000 in Rent Due to Moratorium, While Tenant’s Out Buying Boats

A North Carolina landlord says he is out $24,000 in unpaid rent from tenants, while one renter bought three boats over the course of the eviction moratorium just as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a new ban that will last until Oct. 3.

Buddy Shoup, who owns 35 properties across the state, said that he has been forced to maintain the properties and hemorrhage costs while the federal government slowly dribbles out rental assistance, of which only 7% has been doled out to renters in need.

“[The money] was used, they went and bought brand new boats, but I mean, you know in a time of crisis like what we’ve been through, you’re evidently getting money from somewhere, but it’s not getting to me,” said Shoup.

Those very same tenants allegedly contacted Shoup when their air-conditioning failed in the middle of the summer.

Shoup was legally required to make the $4,500 repair on the residence but said he did not receive any money from the tenants or the government to cover the additional cost. (Read more from “Landlord Out $24,000 in Rent Due to Moratorium, While Tenant’s Out Buying Boats” HERE)

How Majority of Americans Really Feel About Vaccine Passports for Restaurants

A majority of Americans oppose requiring proof of vaccination to enable people to dine at restaurants.

Asked in what situations proof of vaccination should be required, 59% of those polled said that restaurants should not require proof of vaccinations status, compared to 37% who support the idea, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

But Americans were more split on whether proof of vaccination should be required in other places. Asked if travelers should be required to show proof of vaccination on airlines, 52% supported that mandate compared to 45% who opposed it. More respondents also felt that attendees of large sporting or entertaining events should show proof of vaccination, with 49% supporting the idea compared to 47% who opposed it.

“There are varying opinions on who should be required to prove they have had the vaccine. Yes on proof of vaccination for those who fly, a toss-up for people attending large events, and a no for people going to restaurants,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said of the results. 3 CNN Employees Fired for Showing Up Unvaccinated

CNN fired three employees who came to the office unvaccinated, according to the network’s senior media reporter, Oliver Darcy.

CNN President Jeff Zucker sent a memo to office staff Thursday that said the network had discovered three employees who had been coming to the office unvaccinated, and terminated all three of them. The portion of the memo that was posted by Darcy did not disclose how staff discovered that the employees had not been vaccinated, but clarified that CNN has “a zero-tolerance policy on this.”

Zucker also said in the memo that the plan to return to the office Sept. 7 had been postponed to mid-October. (Read more from “3 CNN Employees Fired for Showing Up Unvaccinated” HERE)

COVID Hits All-Vaccinated Carnival Cruise

. . .The COVID vaccines now available in the United States also still are all considered experimental.

And there probably is no more clear an illustration of that uncertainty as the recent announcement from Carnival that there are positive COVID cases aboard its Carnival Vista cruise ship.

That’s because, according to The Liberty Daily, every staff member and every guest on the ship was vaccinated.

“Somewhere near Cozumel in the Caribbean Sea, there’s a cruise ship that had zero unvaccinated people aboard but that still suffered an outbreak of Covid-19,” the report said. “This goes against the narrative that the reason for ‘breakthrough cases’ is due to too many unvaccinated people mingling with those who have taken the experimental injections.”

It continued, “The Carnival Vista, which departed from Galveston, Texas, on July 31, has issued strict face mask protocols and ordered infected people aboard into isolation. Mainstream media is already busy blowing it off while the cruise company is patting itself on the back for reacting to swiftly.” (Read more from “COVID Hits All-Vaccinated Carnival Cruise” HERE)
