SHOCK REPORT: Unemployment Rate Dropped to 13.3%; Republicans Cheer: The Trump Recovery Is Ahead of Schedule

By Washington Examiner. The economy gained 2.5 million jobs in May, lowering the unemployment rate to 13.3%, the Labor Department said Friday.

The payroll gains, the largest on record, represented a stunning development and a hint that the worst-case scenario for the economy might not come to pass. Forecasters had expected job losses of 8 million and an unemployment rate of about 20%.

“This looks like the shortest recession in history,” said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist for MUFG.

Employment rose sharply in sectors such as leisure, hospitality, and retail as states began to reopen last month — the same industries that had seen extreme rates of layoffs as the pandemic struck. The leisure and hospitality sectors saw job gains of 1.2 million, following losses of 7.5 million in April and 743,000 in March. The retail sector gained 368,000 in May, after a loss of 2.3 million in April. . .

Altogether, 7.7 million unemployed workers went back to work in May, a sign that many of the employees who were temporarily dismissed during the worst of the pandemic will be able to rejoin their old employers. (Read more from “SHOCK REPORT: Unemployment Rate Dropped to 13.3%” HERE)

Republicans Cheer: The Trump Recovery Is Ahead of Schedule

By Washington Examiner. President Trump claimed vindication Friday as a surprise positive jobs report previewed what he called the “greatest comeback in American history” for a coronavirus-crippled economy — and perhaps for his own reelection campaign.

Unemployment dropped to 13.3% in May as the economy added 2.5 million jobs, the Department of Labor reported. Forecasters had expected a loss of 8 million jobs and an unemployment rate of 20%. Trump himself might not have been expecting such success so soon. He had been predicting a “transition to greatness” as federal relief spending and reopening from the coronavirus-induced shutdowns pulled the economy out of a Depression-like stupor into a strong fourth quarter followed by “through the roof” growth next year.

“I think you’re going to have a very good August, maybe July,” Trump said in the Rose Garden Friday. “Maybe a spectacular September.”

“Having these positive job numbers is exactly just what America needed at the end of one of the most challenging weeks our country has faced in quite some time,” said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean. “As the country is opening back up for business, so is the American economy, and hopefully, the trend will keep moving in the right direction.” (Read more from “Republicans Cheer: The Trump Recovery Is Ahead of Schedule” HERE)

DC Mayor Ends Curfew, Asks Out-Of-State National Guard Troops to Leave

Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser said Thursday that she’s ending a curfew for residents protesting police brutality and that she wants National Guard troops from other states to leave.

Bowser announced the end of four nights of curfew at a press conference following two nights of relative peace despite thousands defying her earlier curfews to protest the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.

The mayor said that she wants thousands of National Guard members from other states to return home as order is restored. Bowser said local authorities never requested guardsmen from elsewhere and are studying the legality of their deployment.

“We want troops from out of state out of Washington, DC,” Bowser said.

The local DC National Guard was deployed on Saturday to help protect the White House after initial skirmishes on Friday between Secret Service and protesters. (Read more from “DC Mayor Ends Curfew, Asks Out-Of-State National Guard Troops to Leave” HERE)

Expert Advice: It Looks Like the 180-Degree Turn on COVID Lockdowns Just Became a Huge In-Kind Contribution to Trump’s Re-Election

Is this the end of the “expert”? If not, we’re on that trajectory with the medical community’s transparent shift regarding the lockdowns over the coronavirus outbreak. Businesses couldn’t reopen because we needed to control the spread, flatten the curve, and ensure the hospitals were not overrun. Venturing out made you a selfish bastard. And then, a couple of weeks prior, though some of you were already poking holes through the narrative, there was a great reversal. Some were grounded in good news. . .

You have to admit, this lockdown narrative was a well-executed strategy. The liberal media keeps up the doom and gloom news, which tanks the markets. The political class seeing this chooses the “better safe than sorry” approach and enacts stay-at-home orders, and then the pinch on businesses begins. The hope was to keep fear alive and let this eat into Trump’s re-election chances. Those who deviate are shamed. Rinse and repeat until the data starts to show this was an overreaction. And now, with a new issue that can be used to attack Trump, get on out and riot.

Liberal reporter Michael Tracey, who has gone after other Lefties for their insanity over Trump-Russia collusion, has been on a tear. First, he rightfully slammed the left-wing activist-media complex for being coddled babies who are totally insane. Now, he’s set his sights on the medical folks who now say put COVID on pause, as if this is a video game, and smash racism. . .

[Warning: Tweets contain explicit language.]

And this is how you morph a colossal event that possibly could have hurt Trump in 2020 into a massive in-kind contribution to his re-election effort. Why? Because liberals are stupid. Yes, their allies in the media did a swell job selling panic and trashing the market. And then thinking this reversal after everything that’s been said—it’s just…you cannot make it up. The liberal bias is explicitly clear, and be prepared to defend every suggestion you make from here on out because the default position should be to look on these clowns with contempt and skepticism. Career Criminal, Back on the Street After Murder and Three More Convictions, Arrested for Looting in Chicago

Republicans seeking to weaken our anti-crime deterrent rather than strengthen it in the face of mass rioting are learning the wrong lesson from the creeping anarchy in this country.

The case of Antonio Harris, one of the many looters arrested in Chicago, should serve as a stark reminder that our criminal justice system is actually way too lax against the most violent career criminals, not too tough.

One of the major points being obscured in this debate is that crime has been increasing in many major cities over the past few years, after two decades of steady declines. It coincides with the near-universal movement toward leniency at every stage of the justice system being pushed by the bipartisan Soros-Koch alliance under what is known as “criminal justice reform.”

Hundreds of thousands of criminals have been released in recent years, 67,000 just under the pretext of avoiding coronavirus in jail and prison. A relatively small number of career criminals commit most of the violent crime in the country. President Reagan understood this, which is why he led a successful generational effort to take those people off the streets.

Well, those people are now back on the streets. That is the only logical explanation for how this degree of violence could spontaneously erupt in so many cities. It would be useful to study the criminal histories of those being charged with rioting crimes, but unfortunately, most of them are being released. However, the case of Antonio Harris provides us with a glimpse into the problem with our justice system, which is completely opposite of the problems alleged by the mindless Republicans who, out of fear or ignorance, parrot the talking points of the Left about the need for weaker deterrent.

As CWB Chicago reports, Antonio Harris, 46, and Caprise Stevenson were arrested in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago for stealing shoes from a New Balance store. Who is Antonio Harris?

Harris was convicted of first-degree murder in 1999. It’s not easy for prosecutors to get a conviction on murder-one charges, so it must have been really bad. He was locked up for life, right? Nope. He received a 25-year sentence but was let out after serving just half of it. He has been sent back to prison for three felony drug convictions since being paroled in the murder case, according to prosecutors. He also has a pending felony case of criminal damage to government property.

Yet he was out, free to commit more crime. As I noted yesterday, in the case of another murder suspect who was released despite violating the terms of his bond three times, this is the rule in the system, not the exception. There are thousands upon thousands of people like this. Proponents of jailbreak claim that the system is too tough on nebulous crimes and that people deserve second chances. The reality is that, with few exceptions, even the most violent murderers are given way more than two chances and continue cycling out of the revolving jail door only to commit more crimes.

With that in mind, now you can understand the degree of mortal danger we are in with these riots as compared to 10-15 years ago. There are thousands upon thousands of career violent criminals on the streets. There is simply no deterrent against crime in general – the riots merely lit that pre-existing fuse set up by the bipartisan leniency push over the past few years.

This jailbreak movement began with a claim that we need to grant more grace to “first-time, nonviolent, low-level” offenders. But the truth is that these people were nearly always given grace – by a mile. Our prisons were only filled with career criminals. Now we are seeing this every day, as they brazenly release the worst violent offenders, including murderers.

The lesson to take away from this calamity is that we need to restore deterrent in the justice system. The cops in the George Floyd case have been swiftly charged. There certainly is deterrent now against police brutality, especially in the case of an African-American. However, there is almost zero justice, and therefore no deterrent, against all of the attacks on citizens both during the riots and during the everyday street crime incidents the media chooses to ignore. A number of black cops have been killed or injured over the past week. Where is the outrage or calls for “systemic” discussions and legislative solutions?

Indeed, the cries of injustice today represent the ultimate case of projection. (For more from the author of “Career Criminal, Back on the Street After Murder and Three More Convictions, Arrested for Looting in Chicago” please click HERE)

Jeff Sessions Shuts Down Ilhan Omar in Twitter Spat, Then Asks: ‘How’s Your Brother, by the Way?’

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions (R) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) sparred on social media on Friday after the congresswoman called for disbanding the Minneapolis Police Department. . .

Rep. Omar declared on Twitter, “The Minneapolis Police Department has proven themselves beyond reform. It’s time to disband them and reimagine public safety in Minneapolis.”

Sessions reacted by writing, “Radical Leftists like Ilhan Omar and the rest of ‘the Squad’ are dead wrong. Don’t defund the police. Defund the thought police,” to which Omar responded, “You called the NAACP Un-American and said you thought the Klu Klux Klan were okay until you learned they smoked pot. Maybe sit this one out.”

The Republican from Alabama replied to Omar, “You brushed off the 9/11 attacks as ‘some people did something.’ You’ve celebrated anti-Semitism. You have a habit of rooting for the bad guys, and you should stop unfairly demonizing our brave law enforcement officers. I for one will never sit out defending those who defend us.” (Read more from “Jeff Sessions Shuts Down Ilhan Omar in Twitter Spat, Then Asks: ‘How’s Your Brother, by the Way?'” HERE)

Joe Biden Blames George Floyd for Delayed Jobs Plan, Claims He Was ‘Held up Against That Curb’

Joe Biden appeared to suffer trouble with his teleprompter on Friday and said George Floyd was to blame for his delayed jobs plan.

The presumptive Democrat nominee seemed to compliment the Trump economy and said, “In the coming weeks, I’ll lay out a plan I’ve developed for my comprehensive plan not just to build back the economy to the way it was before COVID-19, but to build it back better.”

He claimed his plan would include creating jobs, financing infrastructure, and “investing in innovation,” and he seemed to blame Floyd for his delay in offering an economic agenda. . .

“I look forward to introducing…I would have already done it had not, had, had, uh, we not had the death…George had not been held up against that curb. I had planned to introduce it earlier, but I’ll be introducing it very quickly,” he said. Feds Investigating Whether ‘Professional’ Antifa-Linked Agitators Exerting ‘Command and Control’ Over Unrest

Federal law enforcement officials are probing whether “criminal actors” are coordinating violent activities during protests and are looking into reports that “rocks and bricks” have been dropped off to throw at police and other law enforcement as cities across the country grapple with the uptick in violence, a senior Justice Department official said.

“You see the hallmarks… We’re trying to see if there’s a coordinated command and control, you see those bread crumbs and that’s what we’re trying to verify,” the DOJ official said.

Another DOJ official said the feds have seen signs of “very organized” coordination from “professional” agitators, some linked to Antifa.

There have been more than 100 arrests in Washington as a result of the protests and riots related to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, according to federal officials. Around 20 of those people were not charged. Meanwhile, 70 to 75 people have been charged with crimes such as assault, breaking and entering, destruction of property and other violations. . .

Another DOJ official said leads being pursued and cases being developed — related to Antifa and other extremists groups — by several different U.S. Attorneys’ offices. Going All-In: Minneapolis City Council Considers Disbanding Entire Police Force

Once you understand the larger objectives, everything becomes a sequence of predictable events. The term “community policing” has been used for several years by groups advocating for radical changes to law enforcement; however, behind the innocuous phrase is really a much more serious agenda.

If each community can determine the enforcement of law, then essentially all communities can eliminate the underlying law itself. Remove local enforcement of law and the local community can independently assemble a social structure separate from all other binding contracts that frame a larger societal compact. [Brian Fallon Tweet Link]

This “community policing” process is already taking place in many European communities the results create what are known as “no go zones.” Neighborhoods, and entire parts of cities, where local Sharia compliance enforcement officers have replaced the police force; and the rules, regulations and enforcement are detached from the larger social compact. Considering that Minneapolis has a large concentration of Somali Muslims within the local population, it makes sense this approach is now discussed for their city.

Minneapolis – […] Now the council members are listening to a city that is wounded, angry, fed up with decades of violence disproportionately visited upon black and brown residents. Various private and public bodies – from First Avenue to Minneapolis Public Schools – have essentially cut ties with the police department. Council members are trying to figure out what their next move is.

Their discussion is starting to sound a little more like what groups like Reclaim the Block and the Black Visions Collective have been saying for years. On Tuesday, Fletcher published a lengthy Twitter thread saying the police department was “irredeemably beyond reform,” and a “protection racket” that slows down responses as political payback.

“Several of us on the council are working on finding out what it would take to disband the Minneapolis Police Department and start fresh with a community-oriented, nonviolent public safety and outreach capacity,” he wrote. (read more)

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, the man now in charge of the prosecution of Derek Chauvin and the Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd’s death, is a very well known Muslim activist and supporter of the sharia doctrine.

There is no better confluence of timing, location, and sentiment to achieve the agenda of the far-left than right now – with the opportunity George Floyd represents. (For more from the author of “Going All-In: Minneapolis City Council Considers Disbanding Entire Police Force” please click HERE)

Virginia Governor Orders General Robert E. Lee Monument, Others Destroyed; Are George Washington Monuments Next?

By CBS News. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced Thursday the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee from Richmond’s famous Monument Avenue. The statue will be removed “as soon as possible,” Northam said at a news conference where the announcement was met with extended applause.

The statue, which sits on state property, will move to storage while Northam’s administration works “with the community to determine its future,” The Associated Press reports.

The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus said Wednesday in a statement that removing the monument is “a step in the right direction in the continued fight to address institutional racism, systemic disparities, and remaining vestiges of Jim Crow in our Commonwealth.”

“These confederate monuments are a symbol of racism, oppression, and hate,” the group said. “It coincides with similar actions, such as with the removal of the confederate statue at Appomattox in Alexandria and with plans to remove the Fredericksburg slave auction block this month. In addition, we must continue to focus on creating a better future by dismantling the systemic racism that still exists across our institutions.”

Virginia House member Jay Jones told The Associated Press he was “overcome” by emotion when he learned the statue will be removed. (Read more from “Virginia Governor Orders General Robert E. Lee Monument, Others Destroyed; Are George Washington Monuments Next?” HERE)

Confederate Monuments Collapse: Statues in Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee Are Torn Down and Vandalized With Graffiti Amid George Floyd Protests

By Daily Mail. Confederate monuments have been toppled in Southern states including Alabama, South Carolina, and Virginia during the historic George Floyd protests sweeping the country.

On Tuesday morning the bronze statue of Confederate soldier ‘Appomattox’ was taken down in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia by its owners who feared it would be vandalized in demonstrations.

The statue, erected in 1889 to honor Confederate soldiers, has been a point of controversy for years but remained standing despite repeated demands for removal, until this week.

Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson tweeted photos of the statue removal saying: ‘Alexandria, like all great cities, is constantly changing and evolving.’

A city spokesperson said the owner of the statue – the United Daughters of the Confederacy – notified the city Monday that they would remove the statue. De Blasio Booed off Stage, Protesters Turn Their Backs at George Floyd Rally; NYPD ‘Is Losing the City of New York’

By New York Post. Mayor Bill de Blasio was shouted down with boos and shouts of “F— you, de Blasio” when he tried to take the podium at a George Floyd protest in Brooklyn on Thursday.

“F— the mayor’s curfew!” some shouted. “Turn your back! Turn your back!” others shouted. Many in the crowd did turn their backs.

“Shut the f— up!” protesters shouted.

The heckling was so intense, the mayor kept his remarks under five minutes, and then was no longer seen on the stage. . .

The crowd turning their backs on de Blasio comes after police have repeatedly turned their backs on the mayor at funerals for slain officers. (Read more from “De Blasio Booed off Stage, Protesters Turn Their Backs at George Floyd Rally” HERE)

Police Union Boss Says ‘NYPD Is Losing the City of New York,’ Begs Cuomo, Trump to Send Reinforcements

By Fox News. The head of a prominent New York City police union told “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday that President Trump should consider sending federal personnel to prevent more rioting and looting in America’s biggest city.

“NYPD is losing the city of New York and we have no leadership in the city of New York right now, from City Hall to the brass of the NYPD,” New York Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins told Laura Ingraham. “The men and women are being pelted with rocks, bricks, cars [are] lit on fire. And this is continuous. We have a curfew that’s been implemented tonight at eight o’clock and everyone is still out rioting in the streets in New York.”

“President Trump is watching it. I am asking the president to please, please immediately send federal personnel to New York City and monitor what is going on,” Mullins said. “If Governor Cuomo does not implement the National Guard immediately, then the federal government is going to have to step in.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced earlier Tuesday that an 8 p.m. curfew for the city will be extended through the end of the week following another night of looting, destruction and “vicious attacks on police officers.”

Mullins told Ingraham that the NYPD was “more than capable” of handling the unrest, but added that local leaders have held them back. (Read more from “Police Union Boss Says ‘NYPD Is Losing the City of New York,’ Begs Cuomo, Trump to Send Reinforcements” HERE)
