The Supreme Court Temporarily Blocked Trump’s Bid to Restart Federal Executions

The Supreme Court dealt a temporary setback Friday to the Trump administration’s bid to revive the death penalty after a 17-year hiatus, refusing the government’s request to clear the way for four federal executions a lower court judge put on hold.

The high court did not disclose the vote count or its reasoning, as is typical of orders of this nature. However, the justices did instruct the lower courts to speedily process the dispute.

“We expect that the Court of Appeals will render its decision with appropriate dispatch,” Friday’s order reads. Justice Samuel Alito put a finer point on that directive in a statement accompanying the decision, which Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh joined.

“The Court has expressed the hope that the Court of Appeals will proceed with ‘appropriate dispatch,’ and I see no reason why the Court of Appeals should not be able to decide this case, one way or the other, within the next 60 days,” Alito’s opinion reads. “The question, though important, is straightforward and has already been very ably briefed in considerable detail by both the Solicitor General and by the prisoners’ 17-attorney legal team.”

The Trump administration resumed executions after a near-20 year reprieve in July. Attorney General William Barr directed the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to use a single-drug pentobarbital lethal injection protocol for capital punishment, which was at issue in the case before the high court. Harvey Weinstein Violated Conditions of His Prison Release

Harvey Weinstein violated the conditions of his release, prosecutors said Friday as they asked a judge to hike the disgraced producer’s bond from $1 million to $5 million.

Weinstein, 67, looked ashen in a light gray suit, as he limped into Manhattan Supreme Court with help from his team of defense lawyers.

Assistant DA Joan Illuzzi-Orbon said Weinstein has been untrackable on at least 56 separate occasions — including during an Oct. 16 outing in Manhattan. He has a two-part device: a bracelet and a signaling device.

“The bottom line, judge, is this man could fly out on a private jet which he does and go to another country,” she said, asking for the increase to either $5 million cash, $10 million insurance company bond or $50 million security bond. She said he’s sold $60 million in property in the last two years, flies private and is a serious flight risk.

Defense lawyer Donna Rotunno insisted that he’s never willfully violated the bail terms, and that there aren’t enough cell towers near his home in Bedford to maintain the device’s connection. Report: 6 Saudis Detained After Pensacola Shooting, Including 3 Who Filmed Attack

By Breitbart. Six Saudi nationals, including three who allegedly filmed Friday’s attack on Naval Air Station Pensacola, were reportedly detained after the shooting.

Breitbart News reported that a gunman opened fire at the air station Friday morning, killing three and wounding numerous others.

The Associated Press reports that the Pensacola gunman was an aviation student from Saudi Arabia, and NBC News reports that the gunman’s name was Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.

Saudi aviation student opens fire at Florida Naval base, killing 3

By CBS News. Four people are dead, including the gunman, after a shooting Friday morning at Naval Air Station Pensacola, authorities said. Several other people were injured, including two sheriff’s deputies who engaged the shooter.

The suspect was a member of the Saudi Air Force and an aviation student at the base, officials confirmed at a press conference Friday. CBS News has learned the suspect’s name is Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, although the FBI said they would not confirm a name during a Friday night press conference.

The Pentagon told CBS News that the shooter had been in the country since August 2017 pursuant to a U.S. Air Force Foreign Military Sales training case funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and that he was scheduled to stay until August 2020. He was enrolled in English, basic aviation, and initial pilot training at the station, the Pentagon added.

Investigators are trying to determine how a foreign national obtained a handgun, which is prohibited by law, and carried it onto the base. FBI special agent in charge Rachel Rojas said officials have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida Larry Keefe said officials were working tirelessly to uncover more information. “We will be absolutely relentless,” he said, adding “We will not stop, we will work 24/7, there is nothing more important than this to us.” (Read more from “Saudi Aviation Student Opens Fire at Florida Naval Base, Killing 3” HERE)

Pete Buttigieg Attacks Joe Biden: Not The Best Candidate For Black Americans (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. Mayor Pete Buttigieg said Friday that although black Democrats were rallying around Joe Biden in states like South Carolina, the former vice president did not have their best interests at heart.

Buttigieg said black voters “felt abused” by Republicans and were “taken for granted” by Democrats, so they were siding with “one candidate” who was familiar — obviously referring to Biden, who has consistently polled with big leads in the African American vote.

Buttigieg said during a campaign stop in New Hampshire:

I don’t think that is the only candidate who has a vision on racial equality in this country, or necessarily the candidate who has the best, but they are rallying around a candidate who has earned the level of familiarity for decades.

Buttigieg’s comments were posted on Twitter by CBS News reporter Nicole Sganga.

Joe Biden says majority of Democratic Party doesn’t support far-left views of AOC

By NY Post. Joe Biden has squashed claims the Democratic Party is making a hard-left turn — claiming in a new interview that the majority of the party doesn’t support the views of firebrand socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“You all thought that what happened was the party moved extremely to the left after Hillary [Clinton]. AOC was the new party,” the presidential wannabe, 77, told Axios, claiming media coverage of radical Democrats had it wrong.

“She’s a bright and wonderful person, but where’s the party?” Biden said of the Bronx-born politician, suggesting her reputation had been exaggerated. “Come on, man.”

The former vice president, a top-polling contender since he announced his White House bid in April, said progressive Democrats represented a much smaller faction of the party and claimed voters didn’t want Medicare for All — a key proposal of rivals Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. House Passes Bill to Fight Voter ID Laws Across the United States

The House of Representatives passed a bill to undermine state voter ID laws on Friday by a mostly party-line vote of 228-187.

H.R. 4 — also called the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019 — is an effort by House Democrats to restore preclearance provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that were thrown out by the Supreme Court in the 2013 ruling on Shelby County v. Holder. It seeks to do this by updating the preclearance formula that the high court rejected.

Only one Republican, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Penn., voted with Democrats in favor of the measure. The House’s lone independent, Justin Amash, Mich., voted against the bill.

“Action is urgently needed to combat the brazen voter suppression campaign that is spreading across America,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said said at a press conference ahead of the vote. “We must, we must restore the strength of the voting rights act.”

But what kind of “voter suppression” does the bill go after? House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., put it plainly when he called the legislation “a good step to right the wrongs that’ve dismantled the fundamental right to vote through Voter ID laws, purging voter rolls & closing majority-minority polling places.”

And while the bill’s proponents portray it as an effort to protect voting rights, conservatives criticized the measure as undermining efforts to combat voter fraud by exerting more federal government control over state and local election practices.

“This bill would essentially, federalize state and local election laws when there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that those states or localities engaged in any discriminatory behavior when it comes to voting,” said top House Judiciary Committee Republican Rep. Doug Collins, Ga., in a statement sent out ahead of the vote.

“Full protections are afforded under current federal law for all those with valid claims of discrimination in voting,” Collins explained. “Unfortunately, the bill before us today would turn those federal shields that protect voters into political weapons.”

“Supporters of the legislation simply want to reverse state voter identification laws,” the Club for Growth said in opposition to the measure. “Voter ID laws protect the integrity of the ballot box. This legislation would sacrifice that integrity by allowing the possibility of more illegal votes to be cast and the will of legal voters’ decisions to be thwarted by voter fraud.”

Jeffrey Epstein’s Private Banker Found Dead; Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein Were ‘Spies’

Banker Thomas Bowers, who worked for a bank that managed Jeffrey Epstein’s funds, was recently found dead from an apparent suicide which, according to the Los Angeles Coroner’s Report, was via hanging. He was 55 years old. Weirder is that those outlets reporting on the banker’s death seem adamant to tie the banker and Deutsche Bank to Donald Trump. Not Jeffrey Epstein. It took a little digging, but here’s what I’ve found.

Thomas Bowers was the head of wealth management at Deutsche Bank as early as 2012. According to The New York Times, Epstein was a client of their private-banking division since 2013.

Deutsche Bank executives are still trying to understand the depth and scope of the bank’s relationship with Mr. Epstein, who has been a client of its private-banking division since at least 2013 — years after his conduct became public in a prostitution case involving a teenage girl. Mr. Epstein struck a lenient plea deal that included a non-prosecution agreement from federal authorities, and the case has been held up as a glaring example of how the wealthy and well-connected can evade consequences.

One source who has direct knowledge of the FBI’s investigation into Deutsche Bank said that federal investigators have asked about Bowers and documents he might have. Another source who has knowledge of Deutsche Bank’s internal structure said that Bowers would have been the gatekeeper for financial documents for the bank’s wealthiest customers.

Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein Were Spies Who Used Underage Sex to Blackmail Politicians, ‘Ex-Handler’ Claims

By The Sun. Ghislaine Maxwell and her paedophile lover Jeffrey Epstein were both Israeli spies who took pictures of powerful men having sex with underage girls to blackmail them, their alleged Mossad handler has sensationally claimed.

The pair allegedly ran a “honey-trap” operation where they would provide young girls to politicians in order to squeeze them for information for the Israelis.

The unsubstantiated claims have been made by Ari Ben-Menashe who claims he is a former Israeli spy.

Ben-Menashe claims that he was the “handler” of Ghislaine’s dad Robert Maxwell, who was also a spy, and that it was the former newspaper baron who introduced Epstein and his daughter to the Israeli intelligence agency.

Uber: Over 3,000 Sex Assaults Reported on Rides in 2018

Over 3,000 sexual assaults were reported during Uber rides in the U.S. in 2018, according to an eye-opening company safety report released Thursday.

That number includes 229 reported rapes in the ride service’s 1.3 billion trips in the U.S. that year. The previous year, 2,936 sexual assaults were reported across 1 billion trips. . .

Uber noted that both drivers and riders were attacked, and some assaults occurred between riders.

The company noted that sexual assaults were reported in about 1 out of 5 million trips between 2017 and 2018.

“I suspect many people will be surprised at how rare these incidents are; others will understandably think they’re still too common,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi tweeted Thursday. “Some people will appreciate how much we’ve done on safety; others will say we have more work to do. Andrew Yang Just Said What Other Democrats Don’t Want to Say About Impeachment

The benefit of being an outsider candidate is that you are freer to speak your mind than, say, a senator who is beholden to the party line.

That was part of the appeal of then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016, and it is likely the same reason why tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang has been able to make a real go of it in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Yang, who polls in sixth place according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, solidified his “outsider” bona fides this week when he came right out and said impeachment is a “loser” issue for Democrats. . .

Yang’s remarks about impeachment came amid a freewheeling interview with journalist Matt Taibbi and writer Katie Halper. . .

Crazy Tranny Activist Appears in Court on Weapons Charges

Jessica Yaniv appeared today in B.C. Provincial Court accompanied by [his] mother. Yaniv is facing two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon violating the Firearms Act.

As we previously reported, Yaniv was arrested in August by RCMP after appearing on popular YouTuber Blaire White’s channel, brandishing and demonstrating the functionality of a taser at one point in the debate, and claiming to be fully aware of its illegality.

On the live stream, Yaniv also unleashed a racist rant disparaging the East Indian and immigrant communities of British Columbia, asserting “we have f*cked up people who migrate here, who think they can do whatever they want.”

Nancy Pelosi Calls for Articles of Impeachment Against President Trump (VIDEO)

On Thursday morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officially announced she will move forward with Democrat efforts to remove President Trump from office and called on House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to draw up articles of impeachment for a vote.

“The President leaves us no choice but to act,” Pelosi said. “Sadly, but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, today I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment.”

“The president’s actions have seriously violated the Constitution—especially when he says and acts upon the belief Article 2 says I can do whatever I want. No,” she continued. “The president abused his power for his own personal political benefit at the expense of our national security.”

The Speaker cited partisan hearings held by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and Nadler in recent weeks as reason to move forward. She also invoked God.

“Democrats too are prayerful and we will proceed in a manner worthy of our oath of office to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God,” she continued.
