Trump Chimes in, Slams DNC After They Say Fox News Can’t Host a Primary Debate

By Townhall. The Democratic National Committee has made one thing very clear: they don’t want Fox News involved in the primary debates. According to DNC Chairman Tom Perez, Fox News is unable to host a “fair and neutral debate” for the Democratic candidates.

Perez released the following statement about the subject:

I believe that a key pathway to victory is to continue to expand our electorate and reach all voters. That is why I have made it a priority to talk to a broad array of potential media partners, including Fox News. Recent reporting in the New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and Fox News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.

What Perez didn’t anticipate, however, was how President Donald Trump would react to the news. Trump took to Twitter to remind Perez of one thing: in order for a general election debate to take place, the president has to be on stage. And he’s refusing to cooperate as long as Fox News is left out of the picture:

DNC bars Fox News from hosting presidential primary debates; network urges party to reconsider

By Fox News. The Democratic National Committee has barred Fox News from hosting its presidential primary debates, prompting the network to urge the party to reconsider.

“We hope the DNC will reconsider its decision to bar Chris Wallace, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, all of whom embody the ultimate journalistic integrity and professionalism, from moderating a Democratic presidential debate. They’re the best debate team in the business and they offer candidates an important opportunity to make their case to the largest TV news audience in America, which includes many persuadable voters,” Fox News Senior Vice President Bill Sammon said in a statement. . .

While some Fox News Channel opinion hosts have come under fire for ties to the Trump administration, Wallace, Baier and MacCallum are anchors from the news division who have been praised for their handling of past debates. In 2016, Wallace moderated a presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. ICE Giving Pregnancy Tests to Migrant Girls as Young as 10 After Dangerous Journey to Border

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told lawmakers Wednesday that the journey for migrants traveling from Central America to the U.S.-Mexico border is so fraught with danger that the U.S. is giving pregnancy tests to migrant girls as young as 10. . .

Nielsen was speaking to the House Homeland Security Committee and was informing lawmakers about the dangers that migrants face on the way to the border, a day after figures showed that the number of illegal immigrants coming over the border had spiked dramatically.

“In February, we saw a 30 percent jump over the previous month, with agents apprehending or encountering nearly 75,000 aliens,” she said. “This is an 80 percent increase over the same time last year. And I can report today that CBP is forecasting the problem will get even worse this spring as the weather warms up.” . . .

Nielsen’s testimony comes days after President Trump said in a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that he was told by Border Patrol that mothers give their daughters large amounts of birth control pills “because they know their daughters are going to be raped on the way up to our southern border.” . . .

A Doctors Without Borders report from 2017 found that nearly one-third of women surveyed entering Mexico had been sexually abused on their journey north, while 68 percent of the migrant and refugee populations as a whole reported being victims of violence. Religious Liberty Group Defends Veterans Memorial Against ‘Bully’ Trying to Remove Bible From Display

A Bible at the center of a dispute between two military organizations will now be displayed prominently at a veterans hospital.

The Bible was donated to Manchester VA Medical Center by former U.S. Army Air Corps Technical Sergeant (TSgt) Herman “Herk” Streitburger, of Bedford, who was held captive in a German Prisoner of War camp during World War II.

It was placed in a memorial but moved after objections by Mikey Weinstein, the founder of Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). The Bible ended up behind a glass display case.

First Liberty Institute, the same law firm that argued on behalf of the Bladensburg “Peace Cross” memorial in front of the Supreme Court last week, sent a letter Wednesday supporting the Bible.

“As usual Mikey Weinstein is wrong on the fact and wrong on the law but that’s never stopped him from bullying military and VA officials and their facilities across the country,” Mike Berry, the First Liberty lawyer representing the Northeast POW/MIA Network, told Fox News. “If he wants to remove that display or any part of it he’s going to have to come through us.” (Read more from “Religious Liberty Group Defends Veterans Memorial Against ‘Bully’ Trying to Remove Bible From Display” HERE)

Is the Watered-Down House Resolution Condemning Anti-Semitism Even a Reprimand of Ilhan Omar?

House Democrats have finally conceded to public pressure and are prepared to address the anti-Semitic remarks of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., in a resolution that doesn’t mention Omar by name.

The situation is reminiscent of when the House formally reprimanded Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, for a statement he made about white nationalism and white supremacy in a lengthy New York Times interview.

But there is a huge difference in how King and Omar have been treated by their own parties.

The reprimand aimed at Omar doesn’t even mention the freshman congresswoman by name. King’s did. But even that version wasn’t watered down enough for many Democrats, who also wanted the resolution changed to include other kids of religious bigotry, resulting in a big intraparty disagreement on Tuesday. Objectors got the vote pushed back a day.

There was no push inside the Republican party to expand the resolution condemning King to include anti-conservative bias on college campuses or on social media, and Republicans would have been mocked for entertaining such an idea.

Furthermore, whatever implied slap on the wrist Omar may get in this resolution, so far it looks like she’s going to keep her committee assignments in the aftermath.

Most people advocating for stronger reprimands against Omar have mainly focused on her slot on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, but not her spot on the House Education and Labor Committee. King lost all his assignments, including his spot on the Agriculture Committee.

Plus, the House Democrats, supposedly dedicated to government transparency, are still discussing whether or not to make their internal conference rules public. So it’s not publicly known how House Democratic leadership makes decisions about committee assignment and removal.

By contrast, under the rules of the House Republican Conference, decisions about committee assignments are ultimately up to the Republican Steering Committee. When King was stripped of his assignments in January, House GOP steering voted unanimously to do so.

Ultimately, regardless of how each party’s leadership makes committee decisions and recommendations internally, the speaker of the House has final authority to assign and remove House members to and from standing committees, per House rule 1, section 11.

That seems unlikely, given that the Democratic House Foreign Affairs chairman said that he won’t push to remove her from the committee. “I don’t know that that would do anything except exacerbate the situation even more,” Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., told CNN. “I’m looking to get rid of anti-Semitism, not looking to punish anybody.”

This is how House Democrats have chosen to respond to multiple high-profile anti-Semitic slurs coming from a single new House member in the first three months of her freshman session. Compare that with how Republicans responded to one statement in an hourlong interview by a longtime member of their conference just a few weeks earlier. 12 Astounding Numbers That Show the Whole Invasion of Our Border

After the media lied to the public throughout the border debate, when we actually had a chance to fix things in the budget, now they suddenly admit we have a crisis at the border. A Washington Post reporter conceded that the numbers were “bonkers.” The New York Times put in a headline the Customs and Border Patrol chief’s warning that the border is at a “breaking point.”

Here are twelve facts about the border apprehension numbers and the trends that demonstrate why the Trump administration should immediately shut down all asylum requests. Now is the president’s opportunity to make a new case to the American people and go beyond simply addressing a few billion in border funding.

76,325 – The number of total illegal aliens and inadmissible aliens apprehended at and between points of entry in the month of February. That is the highest number for a single month since April 2008, but very likely one of the highest months of all time for unique (non-repeating) illegal aliens, given that many of the apprehensions from last decade were multiple crossings of the same individual within hours or days. Today, according to Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, “We rarely arrest the same person twice in one year, much less in the same work shift.”

916,000 – The annual pace of February’s border flow if this continues. But Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) predicts that with the weather getting warmer over the next few months and the incentives for illegal immigration unaddressed, the numbers will grow larger.

40,325 – A record number of family unit apprehensions in February. That beats the record we just set in December 2018 by a whopping 26 percent.

136,150 – The number of family units apprehended between points of entry for the first five months of fiscal year 2019. This far surpasses the numbers for any previous full year.

165,568 – The number of family units apprehended between points of entry since Judge Dana Sabraw ruled last July that all parents or adults brought with children must be released with the children. During that last seven months, as many family units have been apprehended as in the previous 23 months.

2,023% – The percentage increase in monthly family unit apprehensions since the low of the “Trump effect” in April 2017 through February 2019. Yes: 2,023 percent increase.

311% – The percentage increase in family units apprehended by Border Patrol for the first five months of this fiscal year over the first five months of last fiscal year.

97% – The total percentage increase in all illegal alien apprehensions for the first five months of this fiscal year over the first five months of last fiscal year.

1689% – the increase in family units apprehended in the El Paso sector for the first five months of fiscal year 2019 over the same period last year. El Paso saw its highest apprehensions in February since April 2006. And many of those in 2006 were the same people coming back after being deported immediately, and they were deported again. Almost all of these coming in currently remain here indefinitely.

70 – Number of large groups, defined as 100 or more, coming in at once to surrender to border agents and shutting down their resources. There were 13 such groups in FY 2018, mainly in the latter part of the year when this phenomenon began. It was almost unheard of in previous years.

31,000 – The number of projected aliens taken to American hospitals by the end of the year if the current pace holds, as compared to 12,000 last year.

57,000 – The number of man-hours Border Patrol had to spend with aliens in our hospitals just since December 22. According to Brian Hastings, chief of Border Patrol operations, 25-45 percent of Border Patrol resources are now diverted to the processing and humanitarian functions rather than patrolling the border.

During the press conference when Trump announced his emergency declaration on February 15, the media demanded from the president a set of data to demonstrate the problem. Well, here is the data that shows the most evident indicators of an emergency – a skyrocketing trajectory on all fronts.

The question for us all is how bad things need to get before we finally respect our own national sovereignty and stop allowing the courts to encourage illegal aliens to come here? (For more from the author of “12 Astounding Numbers That Show the Whole Invasion of Our Border” please click HERE)

New, Awful Data Shows The Terrifying Truth Behind The Border Invasion

If Trump had not signed the disastrous budget bill several weeks ago and we were still operating on a short-term CR with immigration remaining the top issue, today’s news could have strengthened Trump’s leverage. According to CBP’s preliminary figures obtained by the Washington Post, 76,325 illegal aliens were apprehended at the border in February, more than any other month in over a decade since the decline of migration from Mexico. A record 40,325 family units arrived, blowing out the previous records by almost 10,000. Sadly, Trump already signed away his leverage to force a national dialogue over this issue.

As a nation, we are left debating presidential power from an obscure statute that enables the president to obtain a mere $2.5 billion for partial fencing to deal with a policy-driven invasion. The joke is that even if Trump had full unity behind this approach, it would do little to stop this invasion, which is strategically directed toward soft parts of our border. Unless we force a national discussion over the courts and the illegal immigration magnets that are bringing immigrants in, this entire debate is a non-sequitur. Unfortunately, without a budget deadline for another seven months, no matter how bad things get at our border, there is no mechanism through which to pressure Democrats into submission.

A record 76,325 apprehensions for one month is truly staggering, not only because it’s the single worst month at the border since fiscal year 2008, but because almost all of these people get to stay on our dime. Projected for the whole year, this pace would result in 916,000 apprehensions. But the pace is growing every month, because the catch-and-release expands. As the Washington Post observes, “The number of migrants taken into custody last year jumped 39 percent from February to March, and a similar increase this month would push levels to 100,000 detentions or more.” That would be an annual pace of 1.2 million.

While we had years with over one million apprehensions in past decades, most of the illegal immigrants were repatriated under expedited deportation within hours. This means that a lot of them were repeat crossers and they were deported in short order. These people coming now are first-timers and are successfully embedding themselves into our country within a few days, saddling us with the permanent cost of their care.

In an interview with CR, Mark Morgan, former Border Patrol chief under Obama, explained why today’s migration is really worse than ever before:

When anyone opines that the apprehension numbers are at a historic low to support the claim that there is no crisis along our southwest border, they are leaving out a critical factor — the demographics of those illegally entering our country. In the early 2000s when apprehensions were around one million, the overwhelming majority were Mexican adults. They were processed and returned to Mexico within days through an expedited removal process. Since 2014, we have seen a significant shift in who is illegally entering through the southwest border. Today, family units and unaccompanied minors seeking asylum account for more than 60 percent of those being apprehended. The essential difference is they are not removed! Through our country’s broken asylum laws and bad judicial precedent, this new demographic of illegal aliens are caught and released into cities throughout the country. So, even though last year the apprehensions dropped to 400,000 … the number of illegal aliens allowed into the United States has actually increased from a decade ago.

Plus, this is a worse migration because it’s dominated by kids and sick individuals who tie down our resources more than in the past. Morgan explained that even at the worst times under his tenure, roughly 10-12 percent of Border Patrol resources were diverted to humanitarian care. Now, “approximately 25 percent of agents are pulled off the line on a daily basis to address the humanitarian crisis, acting as child care providers.” Morgan also said that nobody is discussing the fact that Border Patrol engaged in 4,300 rescues last year and over 1,000 thus far this year, “another example of the risk and resources being used for the humanitarian crisis rather than the security crisis.”

In recent months, even the overall numbers are climbing back to dangerously high levels. Almost none of those coming here are being deported. Back during the years with over one million apprehensions, all but 100,000 were returned expeditiously. Now, over a half a million will get to stay, but the trajectory is exploding every few weeks.

Here is a quick report from Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies on what he’s hearing about the state of play at our border. This is an anonymous USCIS source, but Bensman, with his background in border intelligence for the Texas Department of Public Safety, seems very concerned:

Nobody in the political class wants to ask who is paying for this. It’s the forgotten American taxpayers.

It’s gotten so bad that illegal aliens have successfully taken us past our breaking point, creating a self-fulfilling cycle of catch-and-release. We are so overrun with migrants and detention facilities are so full that now, even those not eligible for catch-and-release are being released. We will never hear from them again, but will have to pay for their public charge and crimes committed.

Thus, we see that when the president gives speeches and says he didn’t let in the caravan and that catch-and-release is over, it’s plainly wrong. Under Trump, we are witnessing a more severe invasion than any time under Obama. It’s not his fault that the courts decided to engage in civil disobedience against our laws under his watch, but it is his fault that he refuses to push back. He is using the one bullet in his “executive action gun” on $2.5 billion in border funding rather than shutting off all immigration and refusing to allow in anyone, a power he has under inherent executive authority to stop an invasion, halt foreign commerce, and two delegated powers from the INA. Frankly, he would be on even more solid constitutional grounds by halting all immigration at the border than by reprogramming appropriations, and it would actually address the source of the problem more directly.

Sadly, now that Trump agreed to sign away his leverage, the immigration issue is no longer even at the top of the news cycle and has been replaced by Michael Cohen and all the Mueller-related probes from House Democrats. As such, Trump is left focusing on pennies for the border rather than changing policies. So long as the focus is on pennies and not policies, this invasion will continue with no safety net to protect the American people.

Every few months, the equivalent of a major city of the most impoverished people are coming in and being released into our communities with no regard to our ability to assimilate them, pay for them, or deal with the social concerns and the criminal elements. Not to mention the fact that they are coming from countries dealing with major outbreaks of diseases we eradicated long ago.

Mr. President, either we have border or we don’t, and as such, either we are a country or we are not. (For more from the author of “New, Awful Data Shows That the Border Invasion Is Worse Than Ever” please click HERE)

Contract Extended for Humanized Mice, Made With Aborted Babies

The Department of Health and Human Services says it has granted a second 90-day extension to a contract it has with the University of California at San Francisco that requires UCSF to make “humanized mice.”

These creatures are made by implanting mice with human tissues taken from late-term aborted babies.

The HHS’s multi-million-dollar contract with UCSF that requires the construction of these “humanized mice” creates a demand–driven by federal tax dollars–for tissue taken from late-term aborted babies. According to an estimate it has published on its website, the National Institutes of Health (which is a division of HHS) will spend $95 million this fiscal year alone on research that–like UCSF’s “humanized mouse” contract–uses human fetal tissue. . .

HHS also is still in the process of conducting the “comprehensive review” it announced last September “of all research involving fetal tissue.”

That review was initiated to ensure that all federally funded research using human fetal tissue is consistent “with statutes and regulations governing such research, and to ensure the adequacy of procedures and oversight of this research in light of the serious regulatory, moral, and ethical considerations involved.” (Read more from “Contract Extended for Humanized Mice, Made With Aborted Babies” HERE)

College Students Reveal If They Still Trust the Media

The mainstream media has been dropping the ball recently in a slew of fake news coverage, including the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax and the coverage of the kids from Covington Catholic High School. We asked college students at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., if they still trust the news media after the recent bad track record.

“No, but honestly I never have,… they only put out what they want you to know. For all of the fake that they’re putting out, its ridiculous, you can’t trust the media,” responded one student. . .

One student said that we should always trust alleged victims that the media reports because it could be “triggering” if we don’t. “I think that we should always trust victims, and questioning victims is very problematic and dangerous. This case with Jussie was literally insane, but usually victims aren’t someone that I would go out to question, that’s very triggering.”

One student refuted Trump’s comments about the media by saying calling them “fake” is disrespectful, “I disagree when he calls them “fake news” because I feel like that is just disrespectful to people who work so hard. But also, I think being skeptical and also like criticizing them and calling them “fake” are completely different.” (Read more from “College Students Reveal If They Still Trust the Media” HERE)

Trump and Hillary Feud on Twitter After 2020 Announcement

After former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton announced that she would not seek the Democratic nomination in 2020, she and her 2016 rival President Donald Trump exchanged some parting shots on Twitter.

Clinton announced that she would not be running during a local news interview in New York on Monday. Trump responded Tuesday afternoon. . .

Clinton issued a wordless response to Trump’s mocking tweet, implying that Trump was obsessed with her.

Clinton dedicated an entire book to trying to reconcile her election loss, blaming everything and everyone ranging from former FBI director James Comey to Russian President Vladimir Putin to Sen. Bernie Sanders to the media.

Most recently, Clinton made some comments which seemed to imply that a Supreme Court decision she says “gutted the Voting Rights Act” hindered her from winning in Wisconsin, a state her campaign notably ignored in 2016. BACKLASH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Roasted for Promoting False Attacks on CPAC

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) promoted completely false attacks on CPAC on Tuesday in an attempt to divert attention off of the continued anti-Semitism scandal that has engulfed fellow far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

“Amid the string of anti-Semitic statements, House Democrats are now planning on formally rebuking Omar (though they may not end up actually naming her in the rebuke), which has triggered Omar’s fellow freshman and radical Democrat Ocasio-Cortez to come to her defense,” The Daily Wire reported. “The plan to call out Omar, Ocasio-Cortez suggested in tweets Tuesday, is “hurtful” because such reprimands supposedly aren’t consistently brought for other offenses against minorities.” . . .

Ocasio-Cortez promoted misleading content that featured Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. speaking at an event in 2015.

“‘I always thought that if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end these Muslims before they [unintelligible],'” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, as she falsely quoted what Falwell said. “This was just this weekend at CPAC, the conference attended by the President and members, to 1000s. Where’s the resolution against Islamophobia?”

This entire tweet from Ocasio-Cortez is factually false and the fact that she refused to take it down after receiving intense backlash is an indictment of her character. (Read more from “BACKLASH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Roasted for Promoting False Attacks on CPAC” HERE)
