Forget Khashoggi, Where Were Our Elites When Obama Assassinated American Citizens?

In the wake of Trump’s announcement this week that his administration would continue to “stand with Saudi Arabia” despite the recent murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, America’s mainstream media elites erupted in their usual paroxysms of despair and condemnation of the president. Although this time the typical “orange man bad” stories tended to omit calls for Trump to be immediately overthrown by the military or his own cabinet, almost every other major trope was preponderant. . .

Among the most vituperative critics of Trump in this regard was Post global opinions editor Karen Attiah, Khashoggi’s editor and self-described friend. In a column published on Tuesday entitled “Trump’s Defense of Khashoggi’s Saudi Murderers Will Stain Him (and America) Forever,” Attiah told her readers that [emphasis mine]:

In effect, Trump is doing his best to help the Saudi regime get away with the murder of a U.S. resident and one of the Arab world’s most prominent writers. If the administration continues down this path, it will further destroy whatever is left of America’s moral credibility on global human rights and freedom of expression. It puts truth-seekers and journalists who dare challenge the Saudi regime and other intolerant governments in grave danger, no matter where they live.

. . .

While these may seem at first glance to be typical “thrill up my leg” paeans of adulation from a member of the American press (and as such are fairly unremarkable), the timing of the tweets is notable for the fact that both appeared only months after The New York Times and The Washington Post revealed that President Obama had not merely ignored a foreign government’s murder of one of its own subjects, but constructed its very own hit list of American citizens that Obama claimed the unilateral authority to judge, prosecute, sentence, and execute.

Obama’s embrace of Judge Dredd-style powers first appears to have been reported by the Washington Post back in January 2010. (Read more from “Forget Khashoggi, Where Were Our Elites When Obama Assassinated American Citizens?” HERE)

Caravan Planning ‘Human Stampede’

By Townhall. Members of the caravan traveling from Central America are talking about rushing the border en masse to provoke the Trump administration and make it across the border, Fox News reported.

“They have that intention,” Sergio Tamai, a founder of Angels without Borders, a group helping the migrants, told Telemundo 20 in San Diego. “I believe that thousands could make that jump.”

Over the last two weeks, at least 3,000 illegal aliens have arrived in Tijuana, Mexico, just south of San Diego, California. The Mexican federal government, however, anticipates that number to rise to 10,000 in the next few months.

The caravan riders have camped out in Tijuana in hopes that President Trump will grant them asylum, although some are growing impatient.

“Most of us, yes, we want to be on the other side,” Honduran caravan rider Jorge Molina said. “Some want to jump over the wall, others to go another way, and others want to wait and see what kind of response they get.” (Read more from “Caravan May Rush the Border to Provoke the Trump Administration” HERE)

Migrant Caravan Members May Be Planning ‘Human Stampede’ at U.S. Border: Aid Group

By Fox News. Some members of the migrant caravan, who have spent the past month traveling from Central America through Mexico to reach the U.S. border, are talking about crossing the border en masse as a way to provoke the Trump administration, an aid group has claimed.

“They have that intention,” Sergio Tamai, a founder of Angels without Borders, a group helping the migrants, told Telemundo 20 in San Diego. “I believe that thousands could make that jump.”

At least 3,000 migrants have already arrived in Tijuana, a border city across from San Diego, Calif., the past two weeks. The federal government estimates the number of migrants could grow to 10,000 in the coming weeks, or months.

Those already in the city have camped out in tents, slept on dirt fields or under bleachers or are staying in overcrowded shelters throughout the city as they wait to figure out their next steps.

But some are growing impatient, and believe their best option is to plan a mass crossing. (Read more from “Migrant Caravan Members May Be Planning ‘Human Stampede’ at U.S. Border: Aid Group” HERE)

Trump Admin Releases National Climate Assessment With Dire Warnings

As many as 9,300 more people could die each year because of extreme heat or cold related to climate change by the end of this century, the Trump administration said Friday in releasing a massive new report on the controversial issue.

The range of disease-spreading mosquitoes and ticks will expand, as will extreme weather events — all of which will bring additional mental health problems such as depression and even suicidal tendencies, the U.S. Global Change Research Program, made up of 13 federal agencies, said in the Fourth National Climate Assessment.

All told, the health problems and other damage and mitigation costs will total hundreds of billions of dollars in drag on the U.S. economy by the end of this century, the experts said. . .

How much warming depends on what steps are taken. If the world can achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, warming could be limited to 2 degrees centigrade. But without those limits, global temperatures could rise 5 degrees or more by the end of this century, compared to where they were before industrialization.

While the report acknowledges some uncertainty about the extent of warming and its damages, the conclusions are mostly grim. The analysts said there may be some aspects of the economy that would benefit from a modest warming, but said the rates and pace the country is looking at are likely to be catastrophic overall. Schumer Admits Trump, Not Roberts, Was Right About Judges

On Friday, Senate Minority Leader hilariously and unwittingly confirmed that in his opinion, his arch-nemesis, President Trump, was right and Chief Justice John Roberts was wrong when Trump stated that judges on the Supreme Court held partisan views that colored their judgment and Roberts vehemently disagreed. Schumer issued a tweet in which he admitted that Roberts himself was partisan, writing, “I don’t agree very often with Chief Justice Roberts, especially his partisan decisions which seem highly political on Citizens United, Janus, and Shelby. But I am thankful today that he—almost alone among Republicans—stood up to President Trump and for an independent judiciary.”

The contretemps between Trump and Roberts started on Tuesday when Trump slammed Judge Jon Tigar of U.S. District Court in Northern California, who ruled against Trump’s policy that would require migrants to apply for asylum at legal border crossings. Trump stated, “This was an Obama judge, and I’ll tell you what, it’s not going to happen like this anymore,”

Roberts took the unusual step of criticizing a president publicly, stating, “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.” . . .

According to SupremeCourt.gov, as quoted by fivethirtyeight.com, since Justice Neil Gorsuch joined the Court in April 2017, the four left-leaning judges on the Supreme Court are far more consistent about voting together as a bloc than the conservatives on the court; Elena Kagan votes with Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg an average of 89% of the time; Breyer votes with his cohorts an average of 91% of the time; Ginsburg also votes with her pals an average of 91% of the time, and Sotomayor joins them 90.3% of the time. GOP Senators Urge Trump to Move on Trade Deal Before Dems Control the House

A handful of Republican senators are urging President Trump to move quickly on the proposed trade deal with Canada and Mexico and to get it done before Democrats take over the House of Representatives in January.

A letter spearheaded by Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Penn., sent to the White House on Tuesday calls on the president to submit a final copy of the agreement to the Senate by the end of the month so the deal can be fast-tracked under Trade Promotion Authority.

“We are concerned that if the Administration waits until next year to send Congress a draft implementing bill, passage of the USCMA as negotiated will become significantly more difficult,” the letter reads, before explaining the process necessary to get the deal in place before the next Congress is sworn in.

Most urgently, the president would have to submit the final legal test of the agreement and a statement of administrative action by November 30. That would start the clock on the mandatory waiting period before Congress can vote on it.

“If you choose to pursue consideration of the USMCA before the end of the 115th Congress, we commit to working with you in a consultative manner to draft implementing legislation that could win our votes, as well as a majority in the House and Senate,” the letter concludes.

The letter’s signatories are a wide spectrum of Republicans including Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., James Lankford, R-Okla., Ben Sasse, R-Neb., Mike Lee, R-Utah., and Ron Johnson, R-Wisc. New Vaccine Could Cut Number of Alzheimer’s Cases in Half

A new Alzheimer’s vaccine developed by scientists at the University of Texas, Southwestern could conceivably cut the number of dementia cases in half.

Unlike a previous attempt that caused swelling in the brain when DNA was injected into the test mice’s muscles, the new vaccine was administered by injecting it superficially into the skin.

Alzheimer’s, which is expected to strike triple the number of people by 2050, cripples the brain as human beings age, as beta-amyloid proteins in the brain get stuck together and tau proteins start to tangle, both of which inhibit neural connections. The new vaccine, injected into the skin, triggers the skin cells to produce a three-molecule chain of beta-amyloid. The immune system is then catalyzed to produce antibodies to fight beta-amyloid; the antibodies also fight tau proteins.. This means the body anticipates the Alzheimer’s plaques and tangles before happen. . .

Dr. Roger Rosenberg, founding director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Center at University of Texas Southwestern, said the new vaccine “is the culmination of a decade of research that has repeatedly demonstrated that this vaccine can effectively and safely target in animal models what we think may cause Alzheimer’s disease.” He added, “I believe we’re getting close to testing this therapy in people.”

Study senior author Dr Doris Lambracht-Washington said: “If the onset of the disease could be delayed by even five years, that would be enormous for the patients and their families. The number of dementia cases could drop by half.” (Read more from “New Vaccine Could Cut Number of Alzheimer’s Cases in Half” HERE)

Things I Am Thankful for That Will Annoy Liberals

. . .I am thankful that Donald Trump is president, most of all because that means Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit is not president. I could stop here and end this column, but my editors insist on a higher word count. . .

I am thankful for a couple of senators who used to drive me up the wall. In the last couple years, Mitch McConnell completed his unlikely transformation from Yerlte the RINO Turtle into the Judicial Avenger who vanquished Merrick Garland and confirmed Kegger Kavanaugh. He’s skillfully tormented the Democrats and is in the midst of packing our court with a bunch of actual judges as opposed to a crowd of pinko robed activists. This is everything we dreamed of for decades and it’s happening. . .

I am thankful the Paul Ryan is gone, having hopped the train to Failuretown, Population: Paul Ryan. Not that we would notice that he vanished. The only time we ever heard from the ex-Speaker was when he was clutching pearls over something Trump said. I wish he was useless, because that would’ve been a huge improvement. The loss of the House was largely his fault. I eagerly await his upcoming book, 50 Shades of Meh. . .

I am thankful that the Democrats have apparently learned nothing from 2006, where they pulled the same scam they pulled this year and elected a bunch of so-called moderates from moderate districts. Sure, they also elected a bunch of goofs who look like the commie weirdos who hung out at the Che Cafe back in the day at UC San Diego, but the ones who took seats from the GOP were all GOP Lite. . .

I am thankful for Donald Trump. Yeah, I know I already said that, but I’m really, really glad he won. Can you imagine the living hell we be enduring if that hideous harpy was president? If she had won, Bill Kristol would be happy and his cabins would all be booked, but I always expected conservatism to do more than just be a get-rich scheme for political parasites. You Need a ‘Negative IQ’ to Compare Ivanka’s Email to Hillary’s

On his radio show Tuesday evening, LevinTV host Mark Levin defended Ivanka Trump from the media smears attempting to connect her private email use to Hillary Clinton’s use and illegal scrubbing of an email server on which she discussed classified information.

But first, Levin urged his listeners to be thankful for the blessings that we have in this country

“This is truly such a special country, no thanks to the leftists,” he stated. “And by the way, no thanks to the modern media, either, despite what they may claim.”

Levin continued, discussing the media’s attacks against Ivanka Trump.

“Ivanka Trump is an extraordinary young lady. … She’s an extraordinary businesswoman. She’s an extraordinary daughter. Very loyal to her father. She’s got a lot of poise, and yet they try to destroy her,” Levin commented.

He added: “Now Ivanka Trump apparently used her private email … to do government business. And of course for the Democrats, this is equivalent to Hillary Clinton. But you really do have to have a negative IQ to draw that conclusion, and I’ll explain why.”

Do Not Eat Romaine Lettuce. Here’s What It Could Lead To.

By CBS News. The FDA is looking at California as a potential source of romaine lettuce tainted with a potentially deadly strain E. coli. Health officials said romaine lettuce should be removed from all supermarket shelves and restaurant menus until they can determine the source of the new outbreak. But, as Anna Werner reports, tracking down the source of the contaminated produce is quite difficult.

The potentially deadly strain of the bacteria has sickened 32 people in 11 states since October. Nearly a third of the cases are in Los Angeles County.

Scott Horsfall, the CEO of the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, said most of the romaine on the market when the outbreak began was grown in his state.

“Given the harvest cycle at that time, I think there’s a good possibility that it came from California, yes,” Horsfall said.

But he also said finding the exact farm will be difficult because it takes about two to three weeks for investigators to confirm an E.coli outbreak is underway. (Read more from “Do Not Eat Romaine Lettuce. Here’s What It Could Lead To.” HERE)

Romaine Lettuce: Why It’s Hard to Keep It Safe From E. Coli and Other Bacteria

By USA Today. America tries to eat its vegetables, so the current E. coli outbreak likely linked to romaine lettuce has put everyone from Caesar salad fans to those who barely tolerate a splash of greens in a taco on high alert.

But how did these seemingly innocent little leaves turn deadly? . . .

Thanks to the national wellness trend embraced by healthy Millennials and aging Baby Boomers, the consumption of fresh vegetables, as opposed to frozen or shelf-stable varieties, is on the rise. Adding to that is the growing popularity of salad-centric restaurants, like Tender Greens and Sweetgreen, and the increasing inclusion of salads on the menus of fast-food chains. . .

Fields where produce is grown are subject to the whims of Mother Nature and her animals. Fruits and veggies grow in dirt and can be fertilized with manure. Bugs and birds fly around. Animals may run wild through even fenced fields — or defecate in rivers and lakes used to irrigate nearby farms. Growing out in the open means lots of opportunities for bacteria to enter the picture.
